11: focus on a positive change you want to see in society: as more and more people weary of the “shouting at each other across the chasm” maybe we can communicate with respect and tolerance, finding common ground from which to move forward.

Faye how can you tell your glaucoma eye is draining? Does the fluid actually run out over the lid? Or the pain abate? Joe is spare with details… ;) So sorry you’re feeling poorly. Symptoms are starting to sound scary!
Kate and Lisa so glad to hear from you both. Healing vibes and hugs!
    Margaret Brava for persevering. ((hugs))
Julie thanks, I resist “going” to the Micro$oft Store but may have to, in order to find the screen time timer I want. :P Waiting 8 months for postponed appointment is depressing and aggravating. Trust this specialist will share the complete results and get you some relief!
Pip trying to walk everywhere in California? You and Kirby are marvels!
Con VERY grats Annie! Well done.
Debbie sorry for misunderstanding, thought your FIL didn’t model good husbanding for your DH. Must have mixed up with your Meanie-in-law.
Heather the room looks great, the color is perfect, floors gorgeous, but most bestest are your DH’s and youngest grand’s smiles.
Allie ((hugs)) Are your son and daughter close? Will he confide in her?
Michele, how many days between when you drove Vince to the ER and when he went by ambulance?
Tracey here in the US, an uninsured ride in an ambulance can cost thousands of dollars. Living 25 miles from the hospital, we’d get there faster by driving, than waiting for an ambulance to make the round trip.
Machka you’re right I couldn’t drive myself if in category 1 or 2, but Joe could drive me…

Soft, steady rain started an hour ago. It’s the kind that gently replenishes the soil. Hope it continues all night!

    Lighter, lovelies!

That is ok-to my husband, his dad was always old. He was over 40 when Frank was born. There was no love shown between his parents ever. Frank, like his father are/were good providers financially for the family but in the emotional support and affection department they both lacked. For his dad it was he was just tired of her always yelling. Frank couldn't sleep well when we got married because he wasn't used to a quiet house. His dad did show love to me and especially to our son. It was really special to him that Jona(Jonathan) took his first steps on Thanksgiving day to Grandpa Lou. We weren't expecting him to get up, walk across the room on the day he turned 8months old. He was going to get his grandpa. Sadly, Lou passed away when Jona was in 1st grade so doesn't remember a lot about him.
MIL was never happy being married to him. She loved her first husband who divorced her and left her with a 2 yr old but married Frank's dad so he could provide for her and her son. She has always been miserable so makes sure everyone else is. Frank should step back and not be there as often as he is but it is an honor thing. She yells at him then he comes home in a bad mood, ranting and raving about what she did/said- I don't want to hear it. I have heard it for too many years.

Hooray! We have a working downstairs toilet. :D It's never worked properly since we moved here and recently you had to have a 'knack' to get it going. Yesterday it packed up completely, strangely after I had texted Dan the plumber.
He came back after lunch and fixed it, plus changed the taps around, so now we can have water from one side to wash our hands. The other one is jammed shut.
How amazing to have a loo that flushes! Luxury.
The bonus is that he is really inexpensive. In our last house it was really difficult to get tradesmen to come and then they charged at least double Dan's price. Brighton seems to have lots of really good, efficient and reasonably priced trades people. Thank goodness. DH is not a handyman, but once upon a time he would have had a go. Nowdays I really don't want him exerting himself, up a ladder, or down a cistern. ;)

DH loved the tech cargo pants I got him for his birthday. He tried them on and - perfect! So he asked me to order him two more pairs, one in another colour. He is paying for those! :p His old ones that he loves have slowly been disintegrating. I have a few small things for him to open on the actual day. <3 Must get a card.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

MFP updated and broke my connection to communities! I got over 250 posts behind so will start again here.

I’ve been very busy with the park opening, but in a good way. Getting lots more steps in but still need to work on my emotional eating and drinking at night. :(

Had blood work done last week and will be going for results Friday. I’ve not been eating well, so not looking forward to that.

Our Wicket goes in for a tooth pulling on Wednesday. And Saturday and Sunday DH and I are going for our concealed carry license. ( please. I don’t want to start any discussions on this. Just our thing).

Sent in my mail in votes. And still love my new Subaru.

Don’t remember what else I wanted to tell you gals, so by for now!

Just read this: “ Rita Looking good and official in that park outfit. It is tough going back to work after so much time off, but at least you are close to your job. I took a park ranger job out of high school and my first assignment was cleaning the restrooms where someone had thrown poo all over the walls. I quit. That was my shortest job ever. They asked in the interview if I could clean toilets, not poop smeared walls and overflowed (intentionally) toilets. I couldn't believe any human could do such a thing.

    Fae in Or.”

I’m luck that as a volunteer I don’t do bathrooms! Lol Rangers here have had to do that too! So glad I don’t need to!

Thanks for the comments on my “uniform” Lol. I made that mask and made 2 others; one for DH and one for the Ranger Superintendent who loves it!

Just had a parent pull in to drop off a kiddo! :o Sometimes I wonder if they read the newsletters and updates I send out, at all! Ah well, needless to say, she wasn't that happy that I am unavailable for two more days. lol I have seen her facebook posts; she has had quite the week with her daughter (who is three; need I say more?!)

Oh well, better get busy! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

I hope that parent isn't like one I had- She was gone for something like three weeks or a month or something like that(can't remember exactly as that was over 30yrs ago). No call, nothing just stopped showing up. Then, out of the blue she pops in, "I'm here"- told her sorry but beings she had been gone so long with no notice, I had filled her place. She went off on me, cussing me out. I just said sorry and walked back inside with the toddler I was holding. THEN about a week later, licensing showed up about a complaint-yep the lady called and made up some fake complaint. I have had two different ones do that. Don't like the consequenses of their actions so try and hurt my business in return.
So glad I don't have to deal with that anymore- I can take care of one family at a time and not deal with licensing anymore.

Here is an excerpt from a website on how to help your immune system fight off CoVid
“Many nutrients are involved in promoting healthy immune system function. These nutrients can be found in a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein-rich foods:

Protein and zinc: fish, lean beef, chicken, turkey, dairy products, eggs, legumes, & soy-based foods
Omega-3 fatty acids: salmon, mackerel, tuna, flaxseed, walnuts, and chia seeds
Vitamin D: mackerel, salmon, fortified foods (mushrooms, milk, orange juice, tofu, soy beverages, some cereals), and egg yolks
Antioxidant-rich foods: cantaloupe, papaya, citrus, blueberries, cranberries, grapes, apples, dark chocolate, tea, sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots, spinach, bell, peppers, asparagus, onions, beets, and mushroom
Prebiotic- and probiotic-containing foods: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, kimchi, lactobacillus and bifidobacterium-containing milk, kefir, and yogurt. From medical express.com.

Happy Monday. I made it over my night shift and lastnight I slept like a rock. Now this week I work 5 days 7-3:30 and 12 hours days on Saturday. Next week we leave on Tuesday for vacation and so looking forward to that.

Heather--I love the new paint job, looks really nice. Glad the visit went well and everyone looks like they are having so much fun.

I just had a meeting with my boss and after all these months the higher ups have decided I need to wear a mask when answering the phone. I am not a happy person.

    Blessings, Vicki GI NE <3

Barbara I can tell by the lack of discomfort at the side of my eye. I push in above my cheekbone near the eye side gently. If tender, my pressures will be over 15. The eye fluid in question is all internal. When your eye drains the fluid goes back into your system. Here are two sites I recommend reading completely. You may already know all this. If not you will understand Mr. Mum a lot better with his eye pain. It is very aggravating and does really put limits on activities plus dampen a good outlook on aging.

Rita Yes, fighting COVID, or any virus is about having a strong immune system. This is why shingles (herpes zoster virus) is so damaging and deadly at an older age with our weakening immune systems. Mine is considered "compromised" so I go to great lengths to keep it strong.

Beth Yes, there is a difference in this season's vaccine. It is updated to protect against new strains of the swine H1N1, bird H5N1, and other flu viruses which could be the next pandemic with an extremely high fatality rate if not addressed. Fortunately, scientists have a lot of data on these viruses and can formulate vaccines quickly.
This is why I was at the pharmacy on the first day the new vaccine became available. Here are CDC links that might be of interest.

From the CDC webpage answering the question of if this year's flu vaccine is different than last year's. Also the good news of a more powerful vaccine for all of us 65 and over. Posting so you don't have to read several pages to get an answer.

Yes, this season’s flu vaccines were updated to better match viruses expected to be circulating in the United States.

The egg-based H1N1 vaccine component was updated from an A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus to an A/Guangdong-Maonan/SWL1536/2019 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus.
The cell- or recombinant-based H1N1 vaccine component was updated from an A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus to an A/Hawaii/70/2019 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus.
The egg-based H3N2 vaccine component was updated from an A/Kansas/14/2017 (H3N2)-like virus to an A/Hong Kong/2671/2019 (H3N2)-like virus.
The cell- or recombinant-based H3N2 vaccine component was updated from an A/Kansas/14/2017 (H3N2)-like virus to an A/Hong Kong/45/2019 (H3N2)-like virus.
    The B/Victoria lineage vaccine component was updated from a B/Colorado/06/2017 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus to a B/Washington/02/2019 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus.
The B/Yamagata lineage vaccine component was not updated.

Are there any new vaccines licensed for use during the 2020-2021 flu season?

There are two new vaccines licensed for use during the 2020-2021 flu season.

The first is a quadrivalent high-dose vaccine licensed for use in adults 65 years and older. This vaccine will replace the previously licensed trivalent high-dose vaccine.
The second new vaccine that will be available is a quadrivalent adjuvanted vaccine licensed for use in adults 65 years and older.

This vaccine is similar to the previously licensed trivalent vaccine containing MF59 adjuvant, but it has one additional influenza B component.

    What is adjuvanted influenza vaccine?
Both of these vaccines are approved for people 65 years and older. They are manufactured using an egg-based process (like most flu vaccines), and are formulated with an adjuvant called MF59. An adjuvant is an ingredient added to a vaccine that helps create a stronger immune response to vaccination.

With regard to COVID testing -- If someone can stay home for 2+ weeks and symptoms are mild, why would one get tested? I know it will provide stats to various agencies, but other than that, why bother? Seriously, I'm interested in what you all have to say?

Tracey: Sorry to hear about your daughter’s ankle injury. I hope she is able to put up with the boot so that her ankle heals properly. :flowerforyou:

Michele: We bought microfiber cloths at Walmart several years ago. I have no idea about the count or cost. They’re doing a great job for us. :star:

Heather: Regarding rugs—If you don’t love it, don’t buy it. Keep looking for something that makes you happy. We have ceramic tile in the master bath, guest bedroom bath, and laundry room. Our office floor and stairs are carpeted. Other floors are oak. We have two handmade wool rugs in classic Arabic patterns on our oak living room floor. We are very happy with thiem.

RV Life: Welcome to a great group. :star:

Karen: Thanks for the CDC link to Sars-Covi-2. :flowerforyou:

Fae: DH just took his flu shot at the doctor’s clinic. YAY! I took mine the moment it was available at our local pharmacy. Thank you for sharing Charles’ Little Leaf music. Fabulous!

Rita: Glad you’re back with us!!! :flowerforyou:

Lisa: I am glad to see you! Your sunglasses are very fashionable.

DH had his flu shot at the doctor’s office today. They allowed him to give it to himself using his own equipment, with a registered nurse as observer. It worked out very well. :star:
