Hi @quilteryoyo - thank you for your kind words and welcome. I am definitely looking forward to the group. I'm sorry to hear about the postponement of your surgery - let's hope those numbers go down soon.2

Welcome to all the newbies! Sorry I don't remember all of your usernames and @April_M_2015 is the only one I see on this page. This is a great group but it moves fast. Don't worry if you get behind just come in when you can and post an update or ask a question. Also please feel free to jump into the discussions, some running related and many not.
@katharmonic - beautiful! Will you continue to hike through the winter or will it get to the point that there is too much snow or it is too cold? Looks pretty cold already!
@Teresa502 - lic @hamsterwheel6 mentioned I signed up for my 2nd trial through my health insurance. It is actually better than the one I had initially through Peloton directly. I have access to all the content now even live workouts and the most currently recorded.
No run today but doing 2 HIIT type workouts for cross training! I hope everyone in the US has voted or has plans to vote!5 -
Welcome @April_M_2015 and other new people I might've missed!
@katharmonic those pictures are beautiful. Great hike!
I biked today... gotta find a better way to get to the back roads because I tried another route and the one road had way too many crazy drivers on it. Oh well, at least I know.
Great running, everyone!5 -
Thank you @shanaber and @polskagirl01!1

Welcome new people! @Camaramandy648 Good to see you! Congrats on doing so well in a real live race!
My husband and I continue to explore the wilds on the far side of the Wolf River. Monday we went the opposite direction from the way we went last time, saw a bunch of deer (the name of the Strava segment we were on turns out to be Three Mile Deer dodge) and kept going until we ran out of gravel and ended up on what seems to be not a people trail at all but a deer trail through pine forest. Although there were fresh horse hoof prints, so humans must ride there often. It was a really pretty day, perfect weather for wearing my new sleeves - too nippy before you warm up, then a little bit too warm. We went something over 8 miles total, about 5 running miles.
This was the view from where the official trail ended. Now I have to figure out how to get back to the beach on the other side!
This beautiful little trail isn’t even on the map. I love running on pine needles, so soft on your legs.7 -
I got cleared to run again by my doctor. I'm gonna tentatively plan for 30 miles this month. Let's hope I can find a babysitter often enough to actually run... baby is too young to be in a running stroller, and my husband and I work opposite shifts. All of my family are over an hour away.12

@Camaramandy648 The glass is always half full, but never half empty.2

@rheddmobile Sounds (and looks) like a really nice run! The "trail" looks so inviting to run on.
@brittanystebbins95 Glad you're back and cleared to run. Fingers crossed that you can find a baby sitter. Also glad to see that you are both working - Wasn't there something right before the baby about your DH being laid off?

Thank you!! And yes! He ruptured his bicep tendon. Second tear this year. He tore the other arm right at the beginning of all of this COVID nonsense. His surgeon said he's never met anyone with as terrible luck as him. He's finally able to be back to work. He's only part time right now because he still has to go back and finish the police academy in a few months, but the hours that he does work are the complete opposite of mine. The extra money is nice but it definitely complicates things.6 -
Thanks all. It was a great hike, and I'm sad to have the weekend over with and get back to work. @shanaber I think we'll try to do some hiking over the winter too. I'm pretty excited about it because once there is enough snow it can be easier because all the bumpy rocks are covered up and you just go over the top. I have done one snowshoe hike but it was a smaller mountain so I'm not sure how I'll feel about a long hike in the snow, especially being prepared for all kinds of weather conditions. One big advantage too - butt sliding down saves a ton of time!
Congrats on your race @Camaramandy648!
Good to see you @brittanystebbins95. Glad you are ready to get back to running and hope you'll find some time to do it.

I did a short treadmill run this morning before yoga class. I ran on the fancier NordicTrack treadmill at the gym instead of the regular ones and the Garmin seemed in better agreement with it. Not sure if that's a fluke, or if its finally settling in on a reasonably accurate pace. Yoga was lovely, with lots of nice stretches for tired and tight legs.

November Goal: 100 Miles
11/1: 11.02 miles
11/3: 4.35 miles
15.37/100 miles completed for November
1191.39/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I ran 4.35 miles this morning. It's my mini taper before my race on Saturday. It was a good run. It was pretty chilly but I was comfortable in shorts with sleeves and gloves. I think it will be a little warmer Saturday plus the sun will be up so it should be perfect running weather. I'm really looking forward to it.
@katharmonic Those pictures are gorgeous.
@rheddmobile Your pictures are gorgeous too. I would love to have a place like that to run.
@brittantstebbins95 Glad to see you back!
@camaramandy648 Congrats on the AG award.
@ContraryMaryMary Congrats on smashing your PR. I get the disappointment but it was still a great job.
@avidkeo Yay for a Wednesday run. I'm glad you are on the mend.
Welcome to all the new people.
I'm sure I missed a lot, but the new job is really busy and I am having a hard time keeping up with the thread.

Good morning, friends. It's a beautiful sunny day and it's my birthday! I met a friend for a run to start the day and it was great running weather at 41 degrees. It was fun to catch up and ignore current events for a little bit.
Looks like I've run a half marathon so far this month. Not bad, maybe I'll get to 100 miles this month. Which I don't think I ever said what my goal is so I'll go with that.
Oh, and I am signed up for an actual in-person race coming up on Nov 15. I'm doing the 5k, a couple of my friends are doing the half, and there is a marathon as well. I didn't feel like I've been running enough to do the half right now, at least not the way I'd want to do it but I'm maybe regretting that a little. We just got our start times yesterday and they are very specific - I start at 9:33:50. It will be interesting to see how it works.
Have a great day everyone.

@katharmonic - happy birthday! Congrats on the great progress so far this month. You'll have to let us know how the specific start time works. It sounds so much better than the usual chaos of starting a run, but I really wonder how they will manage it. Good luck with your training.1

November Goal: 100 Miles
11/1: 11.02 miles
11/3: 4.35 miles
11/4: 4.35 miles
19.72/100 miles completed for November
1195.74/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
Today was another 4.35 miles and it was a good run. It was a little warmer than yesterday but still cool. I am kind of nervous about what to wear on Saturday. It should be 48°f feels like 44° at the start of the race (which is cold to me) and in the 50's for most of the race(which is cool, but really nice to me) I don't want to be too cold at the start, but I also don't want to be over dressed.
I have kind of enjoyed running shorter runs this week. It makes getting ready for work easier. But I always feel like I could run more and I really love running at least 6 miles. Right now I am running 4 days a week. So I am thinking that after the race this weekend I may try running 5 days. I could run one 10K, one 5K and then two runs of about 4 miles plus my Sunday long run. It wouldn't really increase my mileage, just spread it out some.
Happy Birthday @katharmonic!

November goal - 60 km
Progress to date:
November 2 – 4 km
November 3 – 4 km
November 4 – 4.2 km
Good progress for me, but it's 17 degrees and sunny here in Toronto so I'll be dining on a patio for lunch. My calories will be way over for today. But it'll be worth it.3 -
-
@kgirlhart It's hard to know how to dress these cooler days. I usually overdress, because I would much rather sweat than be cold. You are going to do great on your race!
Welcome @Kimbeers!

11/1 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile - Treadmill
11/2 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile – Treadmill
11/3 Rest day – 11,626 steps
11/4 Ran 3.0 miles – Walked 1.0 mile - Treadmill
Did another treadmill session today. I'm waiting around the house for the surgeon's nurse to call to let me know if they can reschedule my surgery or not. If they can, I will be really, really surprised. I hate waiting, so decided to get my run in. I went a little bit faster today and it felt good. Pace was 11:20 min/mile. I can go faster, but trying not to push it too much right now.

Long run today: 27.5 km and feeling better than after last week's 25. It was foggy and a little rainy, so not many people out, and it was quiet and peaceful. I really enjoyed it.
A big German Shepherd tried to go home with me. Not that I blame him - his owner didn't have any control over him, and I finally had to stop so the owner could catch him and hold on to him while I ran away. The dog did jump up on me though, so I had muddy paw prints and thought he might've scratched up my backpack, but it was all good.
I had my whole work report all written up in my head whole running, now am staring at a blank computer screen.9 -
@Kimbeers Welcome! Many of us started out with C25k and got hooked!!

@brittanystebbins95 Welcome back!
