Barbara—The photo is of young Schooner. He has since developed a silver muzzle. He is now 14. I ought to take a new photo.

This is really good! I use some of those tips and over the next year, plan to incorporate more. But this list isn't just good for people with brain injuries, it could also be useful for people with other issues like the early stages of dementia, strokes, or even just aging.

31 Strategies for Living with Brain Injury
    https://www.brainline.org/article/31-strategies-living-brain-injury

The article goes into more detail, but the strategies include:

-- using a calendar app. My husband and I use Google.
    -- texting, especially reminders. Yep.
    -- whiteboard schedule. Yep.
-- daily meetings. Not so much but I do try to choose a quiet time to talk about additions to the calendar.
-- timers. Not really, but we do have a medication alarm.
-- labels. So far, not needed much.
-- keeping things in the same place. This helps.
-- simplify household chores. This I might need to work on.
-- safe/quiet space when away somewhere. We try.
-- tools to aid memory. He has his lists.
-- track health and activity. I do this and create a report which I email to his main Dr for our quarterly catch-up.
-- manage meds. We use a Webster pack.
-- find hobby. Gardening, cycling, maybe bees!
-- allow more time to complete activities. This is a very important one.
-- photo albums. He likes looking at photos, they bring back memories.
-- use a script. I hadn't really thought about it, but I do.
-- manage stress - this goes hand in hand with allowing more time to complete activities.
-- stick to a routine - as above.
-- travel wisely. Still working on this.
-- prepare simple meals. He has gotten quite good at this.
-- prepare for absence or illness. This is something I need to do this year.
-- emergency information. Again, on the schedule for this year.
-- create emergency binder. As above.
-- use apps. I might explore some of these.
-- educate family and friends. They've been pretty good.
-- keep a journal. I'm not really a journal person, nor is he.
-- keep it simple. Yay COVID! The last year has been great!
-- get plenty of sleep. He does. I'm working on it.
-- encourage independence. I think that's going all right.
-- use praise and positive affirmations. We all like to hear we're doing things right.

    Sunday --

    Groceries ordered
Sheets washed and hanging on the line
    3 CDs ripped & 1 to go

Having half a cup of coffee before heading out for a bicycle ride on a lovely, sunny, warm afternoon.

There's a bit of a breeze about which isn't great for cycling, but is wonderful for drying the sheets!

    Machka in Oz

    Finished ripping the CDs
    Cycled
Brought in the sheets and made my bed (husband made his)
    Made apple crumble!

Nice Sunday. Didn't do a lot of stuff on my list, but that's OK.

Allie, :) I love having my own garbage can and not having to share with anyone. Congrats on finding a safe way to get your garbage to the dumpster.

Thank you for your good wishes. Today is a good day and a happy one for us. This is Anniversary #51. DH and I have reminisced about times past and we still hope to eventually go back to our wedding site with our adult children and grandchildren. That will take time for the pandemic to end and air travel to become less worrisome.

Happy Sunday! This is our 51st Wedding Anniversary. We had planned to bring our kids and grand kids here to celebrate our 50th wedding last year by going to the Lookout Tower at Cape Perpetua on the Oregon Coast where we were married. Fires last summer & Covid 19 made that impossible. I hope the lookout tower is still there. I would still like to take them there when the pandemic subsides & travel is safer.

It is time to have my first cup of coffee & I don't have any headache this morning! YAY!!

HAPPYYYYY ANNIVERSARY to the best person I don’t know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a delicious fish and chips delivery and ate it while watching an excellent documentary film on the photographer Maurice Broomfield. Very inspiring.
A new Midsomer Murders in an hour. :D
Legs a bit stiff. :o I did rowing and cycling this afternoon while watching Spiral. Added another 350 calories to my burn to help pay for the fish and chips.
The walk this morning was about 4 miles. Or a bit more.
