@katharmonic That was a beautiful low peak. Glad you made it that far. So sorry you started your weekend with a fall and there was drama during the weekend. It's good to hear that the group was able to basically get over it all before the weekend was over. I laughed at "picked up beer and pie." What a combination, but sounds like just the ticket to make everything feel a little better.3

Hi all my monthly check in ha ha!
I'll go back and catch up. Hopefully now that I can "walk with a purpose" I can get some mileage in. Therapist said 3 miles 5 days a week. She doesn't think doctor will release me to start running until at least June or July based on seeing my type of injury in the past.
I'm putting in 50 miles this week.

Hal has me doing low mile base building with Sun/Mon off. I'm gonna go against him and run on Sundays anyway.
Anyway, a 5k this morning. 5.1 miles for April so far.
I was gonna post a couple of photos but MFP is being weird.8 -

Lol its kinda fun going against hal from time to time. He won't notice haha.
I'm going against garmin for the next week. It's going to want me to do 8ks and speed work, but it's taper week. Greg isn't happy but he will be next week lol.6 -
Morning all.
Well im definitely enjoying the cooler weather! As you guys head into summer, we see the darkness descending and think "yay time for some PBs!"
Today's training is a 19.5k run.im going down along the water again, good practice for next weekend.
I started checking the weather for next weekend and it's conflicting. Some saying rain, others saying overcast. And it looks like it's going to be windy. But northerly wind, so shouldn't be a headwind at any point since the course is west to east.
Right better hit the road!6 -
April Goal: 100 Miles
4/1: 5.51 miles
4/2: 1.41 miles
6.92/100 miles completed for April
I'm in for 100 miles again for April.
I decided to run today even though my run streak is over. I think I am going to keep the short runs before yoga on Mondays and Fridays. So I ran 1.4 miles this morning. It was a nice little run. And tomorrow will definitely be a rest day. I'm looking forward to it. My son and his girlfriend are coming for Easter. My daughter is not coming this year, but I am still looking forward to CJ and Clarissa and my "granddog" Ein.
@katharmonic I'm sorry your hike didn't turn out the way you wanted. But I'm glad your back is better and it still looks like a lovely hike.
2021 Races:

9.5 miles today - longest multi-terrain run wearing my 'barefoot' minimalist shoes. No knee problems and I think (apart from the mountain trails where I use my trail shoes which are comfortable) I'm going to switch to these for the time being. They really are helping to stop my knees from hurting.
April cumulative: 14/100 miles6 -
It was icy here this morning. I am mostly okay with cold or snow, but ice is not my friend.
I did a shorter run this afternoon just so I would not miss a day.
The sun was shining, the temperature was 34F, and the ice was gone.
I went 1.39 miles around the neighborhood. It was quite pleasant.
I hope the day went well for all.
April: 6.57/100 miles.6 -
Back from my long run. I did 19.5k in 1:53:45 which means I'm well on track for the sub 2:03:00 half. I was incredibly tempted to do it today since I had hit my stride but decided not too because I want to save it for next week.
It was one of those runs that no matter how often I tried to slow my pace kept getting faster and faster. I settled into 5:45 quite happily and often crept up to 5:35. Which gives me confidence that in June ill break the 2hrs.
I had some rice pudding in the car for straight after - fantastic post run fuel I think! I really liked it. And now have a heap of chores to keep me occupied for the rest of the day. Yay9 -
April 1 – 5.11 miles
April 2 – 8.07 miles
Ran on a local trail this morning with a friend. The sun was shining but it was breezy and the temp was around 31F.
Glad you’re hamstring is improving @shanaber but I don’t know how you run in that heat!
Those puppies are soooo adorable @quilteryoyo!
Great to see you @katharmonic. I’m so scared to take a running break – afraid that I won’t start back if I stop. Gorgeous views from atop that mountain! Sorry the weekend didn’t work out as planned. Sounds like you salvaged what you could and didn’t injury your back any worse.

@skippygirlsmom I was just thinking about you this morning. I'm glad you are doing ok. And, I assume you mean 50 miles this month, not week. June will be here before you know it!
@RunsOnEspresso and @Avidkeo ! You are such rebels!
I hope you have great weather next weekend @Avidkeo ! You are doing great!
@kgirlhart Enjoy your family this weekend!
Nice running @sweetdaisy13 . Glad the minimalist shoes are helping your knees.
I don't think ice is anyone's friend @emptydog ! Way to get out there and get a run in in those conditions.
Nice running @Teresa502 ! That wind sure did make things feel a lot colder. I stayed inside most of the day.6 -
Date.......Run............ Walk
4/1...... 0.00............ 2.25 - Treadmill
4/1.......2.25.............1.00 - Treadmill - easy
5.50/80 miles
I got up this morning feeling motivated to get some house cleaning done. By the time I ate breakfast, that motivation was gone and I just had zero energy. I made myself wrap up and walk to get the mail, thinking the cool, fresh air would give me some energy. Nope. So, I came in and laid down for almost 1.5 hours. I didn't nap, but felt better when I got up, so decided to go to the basement and get my exercise in before my energy level dropped again. Since I wasn't feeling the best, I did decide to take it really easy. So, I did my run/walk for 4/1 minutes doing the 4 min parts at 4.5/4.6/4.7/4.7/4.6/4.5 mph and the walk at 3.8 mph. Turned out to average 4.5 mph and my HR averaged 139bpm.
Not surprisingly, I felt a lot better and had more energy after the run, but it was short lived. I hope I'm not getting sick and all I need is a good night's sleep.10 -

@quilteryoyo it was a great combo! LOL. One of our friends always stops at this diner that makes fantastic pies so he made us stop and we got 3 of them - apple blackberry, apple raspberry and strawberry rhubarb. And he was right, they were awesome. And then there was a craft beer store right next door to a gas station we stopped at so it was perfect. One of the beers was some kind of peanut butter stout that was fantastic. Maybe not with the pie.Great to see you @katharmonic. I’m so scared to take a running break – afraid that I won’t start back if I stop. Gorgeous views from atop that mountain! Sorry the weekend didn’t work out as planned. Thanks @Teresa502. I was and still am scared about that too. It was so easy to just take another day, and then another and another. And then I decided March was a wash anyway so I shouldn't push it just to log miles. Fortunately I have friends who won't let me quit and my sanity sort of depends on it
Great to see you check in @skippygirlsmom! Fantastic progress to be putting in some serious walking miles.

I had a 30 min aerobic (comfortable chatting pace) + 30 min tempo (not quite half marathon pace) today which promised to be a challenge as I was aching all over from yesterday’s glute-centric yoga/gardening marathon. I really didn’t know if I’d be able to get the legs going, however I did and I was very pleased with how it turned out. Particularly happy with my tempo pace as it was about 10 secs per kilometre faster than usual and that I was able to maintain it the whole 30.8
-
Sounds like a great run @ContraryMaryMary ! Yea for the faster pace.0
-
I hope a good night sleep is all you need and you aren't coming down with something @quilteryoyo.
Good to see you checking in @skippygirlsmom.4 -
@quilteryoyoI hope I'm not getting sick and all I need is a good night's sleep.
I hope you are feeling better. Being sick is no fun at all.3 -
Short easy run yesterday but it was an event! We ran the Germantown Greenway for the first time since Covid! Scads of people out there, mostly cyclists. I really missed running there. No wonder my legs are out of shape, just a 3 mile easy run was working muscles I haven’t felt in a year, with all the curves and up and down. The river is as high as it can be without flooding the trail, and very fast. Flowers were pretty, we saw a deer, and we also saw a bunny! It must have been the Easter bunny out making preparations!9

Thanks everyone. I did sleep better last night and have more energy this morning....so far. Hopefully, it will last today. I'm not going to overdo it though.

I went out for a "long run" this morning with friends. We had a lot of catching up to do so the time went fast. My back was feeling it a bit after 5 miles, so I decided to call it quits at the end of that loop and not push it. I think working on running consistently right now is better than trying to run longer. It's warming up today but it wasn't there yet - the sun is promising though!6 -
Glad you are feeling better today @quilteryoyo .
@rheddmobile I'm so glad you were able to run your greenway again.
Way to listen to your body @katharmonic .

Yep, got out while everyone was sleeping. Was a very pleasant 50F and light wind. Many hills on this Terry Hershey path, but it is very nice not to have to worry at all about crossing roads and traffic. I guess I just can't help myself to not run a HM while I am in Houston. My body just knows to do that when I come here 😉 Got it done in less than 2 hours.
Oh, and everyone was still sleeping when I got back!

4-1 7k slow
4-2 7k slooooooow
4-3 4k easy
April Total: 18k
April Goal: 150k
Mostly cloudy, upper 30s F, with a wind from the south this morning. Got my second shot to prevent that which we do not name this morning, and didn't want to overdo it.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)10 -

I went to the lakefront park mid-morning today. it had warmed up to 42F. Sunny, clear, and a light breeze. It was a great morning. I went 5.16 miles.
Miles Today: 5.16

I basically took a whole week off of running to try to get my quad to quit complaining. I did cycle several days, got back to my little routine on the weight machine (went easy on my legs), used the TENS unit, and did daily stretching & rolling.
I ran once - 5.5 km on Wednesday which was basically intervals in the woods because my 10-year-old was with me. I'd let him get ahead of me, then unpause my watch and run until I was a bit ahead of him, pause watch and wait again. Or I'd walk/run with him. It was nice. And it was enough of a fartlek/hill-training that I can count it as my weekly speedwork and not lose my streak.
My quad feels completely fine, but we'll see how it does once I start running again on Monday.
Happy Easter / Resurrection Sunday to those who celebrate!
April Goal 169k
"40 weeks of 40K" - 19 Weeks DONE! / 30 weeks left to complete the challenge8 -
Today's long run was a bit of a slog. Simply tired. Daylight savings ended here this morning, so my 6am run was light and cool and quiet, thanks to it being Easter. 1:45 scheduled at aerobic pace. Got it done without drama but average pace was down a bit thanks to yesterday's effort and the ongoing build up toward next weekend's event.
Now about to recuperate with a sweet treat or five.
Happy chocolate egg day!9
