Pip-hope your birthday was enjoyable!
Pretty standard day today. Went to work, cleaned up some outstanding tasks. Trying to sort out some HR issues. Came home, had dinner, did a bit of church council work, went for a walk. I could say my life is boring, but I prefer stable or steady.
Had bought a personal watermelon at store (I can't eat a regular melon by myself). Had some after dinner, it is pretty good. Wanted to get it cut up and rind in trash tonight since tomorrow is trash day.
Have a couple of things I must accomplish tomorrow at work before I am off for 5 days. Will leave by 3 so I can go to gym before going to ladies group. We are meeting in person now so it is nice to see everyone. There is something to be said for the convenience of zoom.
Off to get ready for bed.
Take care all,

I've hiked 90 flights of 20 stairs in the past two days (1800 individual stairs) in an attempt to complete this month's stair climbing challenge.
We're closing in on the last few days.

Is this an MFP challenge? I recently started back up and when I click on challenges only my very old ones show up.
BTW, not sure if I've posted, introduced or have been stalking. I'm 58, live in Arizona and am back on MFP to lose my COVID-25.
I own a retail business, married 30+ years, have 3 kids and 2 grands all at least 3 hours away. Hubby has had quite serious health problems the last 8 years or so. I am caregiver, sole breadwinner, secretary and CEO of household.
My life is pretty stressful and I decided to examine my relationship with alcohol this year. Not drinking brought out the sugar demon so that contributed to my weight gain.
I guess I've been up and down forever since MFP thanked me for 9 years of loyalty LOL.
I don't have much of a social life so online buddies with similar goals and interests suffice. I hope to be an active part of your special group.

No ... it's a work challenge. I work in a 10 storey building so we've got lots of stairs to work with.
We're climbing to the top of Mt Wellington (Hobart) this month ... so to speak. The height of Mt Wellington. We've calculated that is 353 flights of 20 individual stairs.
I'm almost there!
Next month we're doing the tallest mountain in Tasmania -- Mount Ossa. That will be 450 flights.

I bought myself a present today---seven bearded iris bulbs from Breck's. Each one is beautiful and interesting. I am easily pleased. Jake made a pot of chicken mole in the Ninja Foodi which is enough for five meals for us to freeze for later. Life is good here.
Jake had an odd growth cut off his shoulder on Friday and sent for biopsy. The incision required six stitches and no use of his arm for several days. I've had to do many of his chores. The results of the biopsy were that it is benign so were are very happy about that.

Margaret – we give our cats Revolution Plus to keep the tics away. We buy it from Sierra Meds. Please don’t ask me to explain this, but it’s manufactured in the US but ships from Australia. You may have to wait a week or so to get it, but it’s MUCH cheaper than buying it from the vet.
We did go to Five Guys. I had a veggie sandwich but I did ask it to be on a lettuce wrap. This is the second time I’ve requested a lettuce wrap and both times the place used iceburg lettuce and the veggies just fell right out. I’ve used it at home but used Romaine lettuce and it’s worked out much better. Guess next time I should ask it to be on the roll and not lettuce. Maybe I’ll take one part of the bun off. Who knows? I’ll figure that out later on.
M – congrats on getting the second shot

Debbie sorry, but wish your ex Tom could come out and support your mom and you as your DH isn’t. Have you asked your DH what is going on in his mind? I can’t imagine surviving a mother like his.

Thank you!! No, I have not asked dh about all this- I just need to get through this weekend and lean on my best friend who will be right there for me, as she has for the past 50 yrs or so. It is hard hearing that my ex is willing to fly across the country and dh couldn't even take a day off- he will be working a graveyard shift Sunday morning, sleep a few hours and drive up just in time for the service and then leave soon after because he needs to be at work at midnight again Monday morning. He could have taken the day off. Yes they are short handed at work but he knew months ago about this date.
Nephew called- said his mom and brother are still planning on coming out AND planning on packing up a trailer with tools and stuff that were dad's AND are bringing the dogs(and that the dogs attacked their neighbor and they have a court date as soon as they get back to CO)- I messaged my sister- she said they were sick but aren't sick now-I asked her when she was coming and where they were planning on staying- she hasn't responded. I told my nephew to make sure and talk to my mom and tell her everything!
We really don't need all this drama. Glad I will be there to keep an eye on them.
outfit is done- just need to change out the elastic- will take less than 5 min.
skirt is long, black tank top, light weight sweater and matching mask- It is supposed to be 93 on Sunday so need something cool
Praying for little drama this weekend!!

Pip - Happy Birthday!!
Machka - Will you be watching?
Vicki - Congrats on the new grandson.
Lisa - hope the mower is okay. Yikes!
Picked up Nancy to do virtual choir today. We always have fun singing together. Did well with food and exercise. Tomorrow I will finish up the cabin. Our new tenant is supposed to arrive from Philadelphia next Monday. Our previous tenant left a huge mess. She also relieved the hospital of a number of things and then left them here. Surgical drapes, toilet paper, dressings, alcohol prep pads etc. I wonder if there is a way to return at least the drapes to them.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4 -

KP - Sounds as if you have a huge amount on your shoulders. Well done on the alcohol. It is such a false friend. I know I , and a couple of other women on this thread, occasionally get annoyed with ourselves because of the friendship.
Be proud of all you are accomplishing. Do you have any real life support?
Tina - So sorry to hear about your friend. 51 is too young. (((HUGS)))
I think my hesitation about seizing the day was more about DH not understanding the maths of the situation. If someone has 300 dollars and spends 30, they have 270 left. If someone has 100 dollars and spends 30, they only have 70. They have spent a much higher percentage.
Money is not an easy subject between us.
We might have another discussion today. I am torn. Part of me thinks it is right to go next year while he really wants to and is fit enough, blow the money, and another part wants to wait for the following year. But he would be 77 by then. Who knows what our state of health will be by then!. We both really want to see Iceland and Greenland. One trip is just Iceland and the other, more expensive alternative, is both. We could, I think, take the option of changing our Mediterranean cruise in March to the Greenland one in July, which we haven't discussed. I'm not sure how I feel about that as I'm looking forward to seeing places on the Med I've never been to.( OK, decided, not cancelling!! )
It is 'only' money and when it's gone, it's gone.
Thank you ladies for letting me think it through. I realise I am very privileged to even have the option. In a way my cruises are my pets , they keep me going throughout the year with happiness when I think of them. My constant companions.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Busy day planned, am going to bake a few dozen cookies and whatever else I can to take to the farmer's market this weekend. Probably cowboy cookies (toasted oatmeal, pecans and coconut, as well as raisins and chocolate chips and whatever else I can think of in a cookie base made with molasses) and chocolate chip cookies with and without pecans. Might make some banana bread today, but may wait until Friday. Friday I'll make yeast rolls and loaves, and possibly a couple pans of cinnamon rolls. Somewhere in there, I might put together some brownies. I want to try to make my own caramel to add to the brownies, so that may be one that I try the following week.
Yesterday was a pricing trip to Sam's Club, took pics of price cards all over the store to see what ingredients will cost me. Don't want to do this if it costs more to make than I can sell it for... so that means pricing out every ingredient and then defining what each cookie costs. Need to make sure I add the house overhead into that cost - gas, electric, etc., as well as my time. Feels like math problems in school!
When I'm not baking, I hope to be working on this quilt and getting it off my plate, and I also picked up an assignment that's due on Tuesday from one of the customers of the content mill I work for on seven steps for disaster preparedness for business.
I think my husband thought I'd be bored when I retired.
Hahahahaha!

I've done it!
I booked the Iceland cruise for June next year. We will have gone two years without a holiday of any sort, with two cancelled last year for the pandemic, so I guess it's fair enough. I haven't been further than 3 miles from my house for 17 months!
When I rang them, on the dot of 9 am when they opened, I found the Aft Suites we were hoping for were all booked up. So I bit the bullet and booked the best cabin on the boat, the last remaining Fore Suite. We will be able to see where we are going. Plus I booked a private taxi to Dover for not much extra. For that distance you normally have to share.
We are both delighted. DH hates airports etc, so this is the best option for him if we want to go 'abroad' together. There are lots of different ports all round Iceland, plus a stop on the way at the Orkney Islands, so I will get to see the Bronze Age sites there, which are on my bucket list.
Now I can start dreaming!
