Allie- it was rude to abruptly change the time when you are doing them a favor and of course your brother is rude too.

So... It's been a week. My big accomplishment is I didn't rage quit this week. This is for sure going to be my last job and I've never rage quit before. So I almost seem to be looking for my opportunity. Did I mention students start Tuesday and that's the day 1/2 of my material will supposedly work because it doesn't before students populate. And apparently 3 AP preps isn't enough I've been assigned additional senior duties.

I've been stress eating, gaining weight and worse I feel bad. I have to figure out a way to get this under control.

I just caught up on 9 pages or so of reading. I need to come here more.

I had lots to say to many of the readers but too tired to type everything.

    COVID notes
    1. You can get Delta even if vaccinated which means you can spread it.
    2. Delta sheds approximately 1000 times the virus load as the original virus
    3. it has an Rnaught of 6 making it as contagious or more than chicken pox.
    4. 99% of deaths in my area are the unvaccinated. So the vaccine doesn't stop you from being infected or spreading but still very effective at stopping death.

I made it! Thanks for your donation that pushed me to my goal. I got the email from MS and I sw my name on page 11 of the top fundraisers page, I also won a shirt!

Allie - although it would have been nice to spend some time with your brother, I bet you’ll have a better time with just you and Taliah.
That was rude. I’m sorry, your family doesn’t treat you with much respect in my opinion.

Julie - I may try that next if this doesn’t help.

Lisa - I allowed this pain to change me too I’ve decided not to anymore and am in more pain. It’s a delicate balance. If I do this what will my pain be like tomorrow? I sympathize with you. I may have to ask someone to make a quilt like that for me for my daughter.

Our youngest daughter at age 20 had two slipped disks, it took over two years for her to get surgery and by that time she had a third starting to slip. I can’t believe how she managed that pain at such a young age. I have told her how much I admire her for what she had to put up with.

Kylia - maybe it’s time you and your son in law get new jobs or go on vacation at the same time, let them see the problems for themselves.

Heather - I’m sorry to read you are in pain. I’m happy to read you hard a nice time sitting with the Grands though!

Machka - I would train in:
    Gymnastics
    Swimming
    Kayak

Rori- I’m sending the biggest hugs and prayers.

Another day with 4 hours in meetings and again I’m behind on work and will have to go in and work this weekend. So frustrating.

The cloud cover today lowered our temperature from 32 yesterday to 19 today. It is very damp and humid more like East Coast than Alberta.

    At least it’s the weekend!

    Rori,
I sent a donation to Denver Hospice in your honor and in memory of your brother Greg. I am glad you were by his side when he died. I'm sorry for your losses and thinking what a launchpad you now stand on after helping your two guys with their end-of-lifes. Thank you for letting us share this poignant time with you.

    Penny,
That video. How inspiring and how beautiful. Golly, thanks!

    Lisa,
What a wonderful quilt inspiration. I love it.

    Pip,
I knew you'd reach your goal! That's who you are. And I adore that photo of you and your sweetheart.

    Update on the muddy mess,
It is my understanding that the Fixing-of-the-Screwup started yesterday. I am staying away, as it only serves to upset me and would make the workers nervous. Andrew will keep his eye on things over the back fence. I have not yet heard if he got anywhere with the County. :D

    Granddaughter,
Proud of my granddaughter, who was chosen to represent her swim club on the Virginia team at the USA Eastern Zones Swimming this week. They are doing well. I will go to see her last event this morning.

Does anyone have, or know anything about, quartz counters for kitchens and bathrooms?

Karen - I have quartz/granite here and at my last house, but they came with the house, I didn't have to pay for them! Mine here are black with glittery flecks. I love them. If you can afford it, I say yes.

    - work
    - rich food
    - maybe dairy
    - wine
    - housework

Hi folks. Our few days of rain have definitely taken the heat out of the temperatures. I’m off out soon to our local shops, then later I’m hoping to have coffee with my younger daughter.

@kizanne2 It's the same here. A large majority of people getting/dying from Covid are unvaccinated.

Rori: Oh, Rori! Deepest sympathy for the loss of your brother, Greg. It sounds like his passing was very peaceful. (((Hugs))) and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 for the days ahead. I know that you wil cherish the good memories.

Pip: Rag Rugs. Lots of methods. This is one.
Heather: Why is it so difficult to find a comfortable bra. Let us know what you think about it once you've tried it on.
Carol: Good idea about leaving the tags on.

Wishing our new members a hearty welcome.
Hugs and prayers for those who need them.

    Have a great day.

I slept most of 13.5 hours, from 6pm yo 7:30 am. I woke 2x but not for very long.
I had one maybe 2 low sleep nights this week.
plus the operation (removal of skin cancer on neck + anaesthesia + stress).

    Grateful
catching up on sleep if needed
quite responsive medical follow up on medical side: the assistant sent me a corrected prescription, the specialist responded quickly when I sent him info about other health issues for information, the past specialist thanked me for sending him info (there was a confusion of info between past and recent specialist).
friend sent text to ask for health news
spoke with another friend who seems concerned
    café
    peaceful place
    very quiet in summer

    Good things done yesterday
    reasonably healthy dinner
    less sugar yesterday
    walked a little
tried to go to library and work
followed up on health things (get bandage, send info to medical experts)

    Today
    some cleaning/tidying
eat plenty of fresh fruit and veggie
get some more fresh fruit and veggie
    café of course
    sit in hammock

as for the rest -undecided if I will simply aim to rest or to get some bits and bobs done.

I think aiming to rest is a good goal for today after your surgery this week. Take care my friend you need time to heal.

    Good morning ladies
First of all Rori- my deepest condolences and Brava for your being there for both of your dear men when they made there transitions...
And i have also have thought of becoming a hospice volunteer..
Yesterday was a fiasco all around.. but we made it here.. Kyle and Taliah didnt make it home until 2 pm,so by the time we got on tbe road the traffic was horrific, summer traffic going towards any seashore is horrible and what should taken us 2 1/2 -3 hrs took us almost 4 and a 1/2 ,,Tal being her age is moody and broody and Sean asked if she wanted to go to the beach, and she said wait a minute, well he waits for no one,so we took his car and i dropped him and the dog off and came back up and got Tal.. im glad i brought my cane with me,because on sandy rocks im a little unsteady on my feet,
So that ticked Taliah off that we weren't at her beck and call and then she wanted to use my phone last night to listen to music Uhhhh no... there is no internet up here and ill be dipped of she will be using all mine.. She is already ready to go home.. but im going to stick it out..
Its good spending time with my brother.. i think he might be leaving for the lake today but not sure hope not..

Rori-sorry to hear of brother’s passing. I am glad you were there to support him and he had such a peaceful passing.

Terri-thanks for posting rag rug video in response to Pip’s question. It has been forever since I have seen anyone work them. My grandmother made quite a few of them. My mom made some after she retired but she didn’t braid in, she more wrapped and sewed (perhaps because she couldn’t quite remember how her mom made them!)

Karen In Virginia-I have quartz countertops and love them. No special treatment and darn near indestructible. They tolerate heat very well. No staining to date. You can cut on them with no damage if you are lazy like me and sometimes cut salad veggies and don’t want to get out cutting board.

Julie-anesthesia gives me lingering effects. Glad procedure is over and hope healing continues. My tumor is from thyroid cancer-diagnosed in 1996 and had total thyroidectomy then. It is very slow growing. They find a bit, nip it out, and watch for more. Worst part is long term medication and suppression of thyroid (the cells left behind can still grow, almost impossible to get all) does impact calcium, energy, etc., so I take steps to try to counter. Certainly not the worst thing in the world to deal with.

    Allie-hope visit works out.

Tracey-I hope they are able to unlock your hip. Chronic pain is no fun. While I didn't look forward to surgery I am glad I got my hip replacements-no more pain!

Long work week. Had probationary removal of a couple of employees. Hate to do that in the best of times. However, our experience has shown that if people have problems the first couple of months most of it doesn’t get better, especially on things like getting to work on time and following basic things like breaks, etc.

Get to spend today at outside mini-festival for kids and families in community. Give away book bags, etc. Had to cancel last year due to covid. Wish delta variant was getting ahold here, but it is. We have trimmed back some of the activities and most things are outside, we have masks and sanitizer, best we can do. I will stay masked most of the day even outside once people start coming.

Hope everyone has a good day,

I love rag rugs. I used to have a Finnish friend and visited Finland and had a lot to do with their culture. Rag rugs were fabulous and I had one I bought over there as a hanging in my study. Not hard to make, I believe. Yes, YouTube.
I LOVE YouTube. It has saved my life on so many occasions! Today I/it helped DH get rid of his screenlock and extend his call rings. He never gets to his phone on time and is always cursing the lock. :# I also extended my ring time. :D

Rain showers today. Some heavy. The gutter man has postponed until better weather next week. It was trying to communicate with him that made stubborn DH ask for my help with the phone. :p

The painter will start week of 23rd. We seem to have settled on a cheaper copy of Farrow and Balls Calamine, or Dulux Adobe pink 5. Next weekend will wander down to the trade place. Haven't yet settled on woodwork colour.

    Oh the expense! :o:#:/

Back pain miraculously vanished yesterday evening. :p I wonder why? ;)

Carol - Amazon have nipple covers. Any use to you? <3
The bra fits well, but I'm still feeling a bit crushed around the ribs. It is very stretchy, so it's just me. I will wear it under my favourite white t shirts. Terri, it's a Bali bra in Amazon. I bought a 40. L My chest is v large, but my breasts are small/average.
I don't think it would suit big breasted women.

Rori- Omigoodness! So much to process within a short time! Sending you lots of love and thoughts/prayers for peace! I echo what the others have already said; how wonderful that you were by his side to see him off. (((( <3 ))))
    Machka- Congrats on your continued downward trend. Hmmmm...three Olympic events... for me, it would have to be;
    1 Archery, 2 triathlon, 3 skateboarding
Allie- hats off to you! I don't know how you keep your cool around the family. Taliah's behavior can be chalked up to being a moody (and sometimes horrible) teenager. But the rest of them?! Absolutely no reason to behave or act the way that they do. And to demand that you jump when they say or be at their beck and call. That is some deep bulls**t and I don't think they make a scooper big enough to clean that up! Infuriating!

My brother and his wife (who sold their house when it wasn't even on the market) have bought a house in the lakeside town just north of my town! lol They were in the lakeside town just south of me; but this move puts them about ten minutes closer (a 10 minute drive, normally). They closed on both houses, yesterday; and invited me to come to their new house to visit as they take a break from unpacking. I regretfully declined, as it is Coast Guard Festival weekend. A parade this morning, last day of activities/carnival fun, and fireworks tonight. I am not going, but there will be an estimated 1.5 million people in my small town and there is NO WAY IN H*** I am going to be anywhere near the downtown area! To get to my brother's I would be fighting traffic and a drawbridge that is constantly going up and down to let the boats through. Ugh! I know this is the kind of business/busy-ness a summer resort town thrives on; but I just want my nice quiet town back.

I have been fighting a cold all week. It is probably the same thing the kids have had, and my body is keeping it at just a dry/scratchy throat. But it is a niggling sort of thing. I have been dosing myself with saline nose rinses, lozenges when needed and have made a couple batches of chicken broth with carrots and zucchini. (I add a bit of Tabasco to my broth to keep the nasal passages clear). Summer colds! Blah! On the upside, I am down a pound, due, I am sure, to all of the broth.

I have awoke each morning, this past week, to new monarchs in the enclosure! Thursday we had six emerge before breakfast was over! We release them after lunch and for the past few days, the kids have enjoyed seeing the monarchs fluttering around. Between my yard and our neighbor's yard, there are plenty of butterfly friendly flowers/trees from which to feed.

Well, it is Saturday; my lawn is mowed, my house is relatively clean, due to the festival I will be doing my shopping on Sunday morning, so...I think I will sign off and take a walk while it is still cool-ish (69*). ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

:) The screen door that Jake ordered in May, finally arrived on Tuesday. Jim's handy friend is coming to install it today. The friend grows strawberries and makes his own jam so he's bringing some jam. Jake wanted to have fresh bread to make toast to accompany the jam, so we changed our usual plan and will pick up groceries curbside today instead of tomorrow. We've been getting groceries on Sunday mornings for so long, that this will probably confuse me about what day of the week it is and will confuse me for the rest of the week. It is drizzly today so it won't be a good day to make the best chance to enjoy the screen door.

:) I have too many issues with vertigo and claustrophobia that kept me from enjoying swimming, diving, and gymnastics in high school but those are the Olympic sports I admire most.

    Pip,
i once bought a sharp tight brimmed hat crocheted out of thin and tightly twisted plastoc bags at a tag sale. The seller-crocheter hesitated to sell.it. i wore it fir a few years and kept it for 1 few more out of honor to her work and pride and inventiveness.

So far resting. Check. Went to cafe then to cemetary. Its the quietest place on nature in.the city to feel very private. Its rare that one comes over to chat or gawks too much, etc, which is good...

(((Rori))) Wishing you comfort and peace during this time of grief!

I had my second eye surgery yesterday to get rid of the nodules on my cornea. It was not pleasant at all but at least I knew what to expect so that helped. Today, I am just waiting for my eye and nose to quit running constantly. For the second time, there was a mix up on getting the two eye drops I needed. The prescription said one was for the left eye and the other for the right eye. The pharmacist caught the mistake and called the dr to make it right.

Allie ~ I do not envy your get away weekend. It seems like there are always too many complications with your family that ruin any occasion.

Kitzme ~ I'm so sorry your work situation is so stressful and hope it calms down.
