    Hi Gals,
So I have been thinking about how to be more efficient, so some solid planning to eliminate extra store stops, some meal planning and some efficiently issues around work. I have created some embroidery templates that will help with design work, but I end up sending a lot of emails, my work email is on gmail and I would like to have a couple of short cuts so I could for example put my address, house description and that we meet in the garage set up so I could type 2-3 characters and that would auto fill. I can not figure out how to do this, I tried to google but was not sure what to write in google to find help (its late my brain is tired) Anyone know how to do this?

I've been meaning to mention ... I admire your efforts to become more efficient. :)

That is my goal for this year (and maybe next) as well ... simpler and more efficient so that I feel like I can relax without thinking "but I've got 75 more things to do". I'd like to pare down and organise to the point that everything has a place and if a piece of paperwork arrives, I can immediately file it where it goes. Or if I want a different pair of cycling gloves, they're in this drawer. And so on.

Right now I'm going through bins of school notes which are heading for the shredder. :)

Anyway, I know that in MS Office products you can set up that sort of autofill, so if you use Outlook, it's possible to set things up that if you, for example, typed GMK it would automatically convert it to GodMomKim. In Word, that is found under File > Options > Proofing and right at the top there is a button called AutoCorrect Options... click that button and a dialogue box will open. About halfway down, there's a section called Replace text as you type. There are several things in there already, but you can add your own. That's where you would type Replace: GMK With: GodMomKim.

Then when you're typing all you have to do is type GMK and voila!

However, I don't know if that's possible in Gmail. There is a predictive text feature but it won't necessarily predict what you want it to predict.

18: Today do something to make life easier for someone else: last week sent $ to J & M.

Oops again? Forgot to take BP again yesterday? Or are my spreadsheet updates not saving? SMH.

56 F clear and calm at our house this morning. In town, 15 mins away, 76 F, winding and SMOKY. T’ai Chi cancelled, center closed for two weeks due Covid case. Went home, changed to cooler clothes, got Shadow and walked her with Gl, Ro and Gr in the park. Decided not to go to dog group as it would be hotter and smokier down at the port. Steps short. Was yawning and headed to bed, but since only needed 1500 steps to hit goal went YouTube walking. First caught up with Pluto Living, then stumbled upon Music Show Scotland. Love those pipes, nothing like them to get the feet moving. Ended up over goal, yay!

Kylia ((hugs)) Glad your Son in law explained his reasoning when he gave notice. Hope your DH and his sister will learn from this and get busy!
Oh Kim, how homesick your lovely weekend made me. Your pie filling thickening process has my mouth watering.
Julie, brava for being your own advocate. Good luck finding a different dermatologist and getting the new, good guy registered as your GP/Primary care provider. I go in every 6 months for a full body visual scan. Haven’t needed surgery since we left Idaho, thank Goodness. Neither do I like horror stories, my nightmares are scary enough. The sleep apnea tubes look way more comfortable than the full blown CPAP face mask.
Heather I agree about social media and fake news so spend very little time on FB and none at all elsewhere save here. Read local newspapers for local news (local politics are just as divisive, frustrating and disappointing as national politics.) Occasionally listen to NPR or BBC America. Record CBS overnight news on DVR, then skim it when I have interest and time. Here, outside cats live an average of 2 years, inside cats can live to 17 or more.
Machka I’m finally really reading and absorbing a text book from a class I took (but paid poor attention to) in 1968  That ED visit sounds scary, can you call the specialist and push for a sooner appointment?
Annie good luck on your less sugar, more movement plan. Brava, walking 24 minutes is a good start!
Allie there are games you can teach Alfie to play that challenge him to move and problem solve while you sit. Do you feed him any kibble or is it all canned food?
Rebecca “manufactured” instead of homemade lefse? Wouldn’t appeal to me.
Heather bravo for Johnny. Fingers X’d he gets a better dX.
Tracey that physio specialist sounds like the answer to a prayer. If you’re a little sore tomorrow, take it off too! ;)
Oh Margaret. ((hugs)) Even if he is in pain, that is no excuse for your DH to read you the riot act over a plate! How wise you were not to make that comparison. ((hugs))

Joe just announced he’s caught another, smaller rat in the water pump room. Ugh! He’ll take it to the Lone Ranch viewpoint tomorrow morning and release it. He thinks it was already under the house when he found the hole in the anti-vermin mesh and repaired it today. This makes 2 rats and a chipmunk. Really hope his repairs solved the problem. Really grateful he doesn’t want to kill the vermin, just keep them out and move them on. Really REALLY grateful this isn’t my job.

    Lighter, lovelies!

One of the benefits of exercise is that you breathe more! Or more heavily!

How Does Fat Leave the Body When You Lose Weight?
    https://www.verywellfit.com/how-does-fat-leave-the-body-4165132

"Contrary to what some people may believe, the lungs are the primary organ used to remove fat from your body. Body fat does not turn into muscle or exit the body through the colon. During the energy conversion process, fat leaves the body either as CO2 during exhalations or as H20 in the form of urine, sweat, and exhalations."

Huffing and puffing up and down the flights of stairs at work does seem to make a little bit of difference. :)

Rebecca, I love your sister's "lap" dog! He is gorgeous!
Debbie, ah yes, the midnight trip around the yard to round up the cats, I do not miss those days! Miso sounds like one smart cat! Sneaky little brat! lol
Heather, our cats were always a mix of inside/outside. We did try with the last three to keep them in, unfortunately one was quite wild and when he wanted out, he meant it! When he got older, he was happier inside, but by that time the girls were quite accustomed to being outside when the weather was nice.
Allie, is there a dog park near you where you could let Alfie run around? I know there are several here and the owners let the dogs run and play with very little effort on the owners part. You do have to watch that an aggressive dog doesn't sneak in, but that might be an idea to tire him out a bit.
Tracey, sounds like the specialist was well worth the money! So happy to hear that you are already feeling so much better! I love Jonah's viking hat!
    Pip, love Yogi's bike helmet!
Margaret, so sorry that hubby is being such a pill. Comparing Drew's vet bills with his doctor bills LOLOL!!
Kylia, sure hope that your hubby and his sister do something positive to encourage your son in law to stay! Or maybe it would be better all around if he can find a job where his talents are appreciated by more than one person.
Oh, now I see he does have a new job already lined up. Well, good for him, and you're right, your dh and his sister need to figure out where they want to go from here. Congrats on getting the training done two weeks early!
Barbara, rats and chipmunks ugh..... We had a raccoon thinking about making a home under our old house, we quickly dissuaded it of that plan! just used a flashlight at night to encourage it to leave, then blocked the hole, it got in through the vent for the crawlspace. There is a better word for that, but darned if I can remember what it is!
    Flea, I think of you often, thanks for keeping us updated. {{{HUG}}}
Woohoo! All caught up and I did open a second window today so I could comment as I read! Nothing much to add, been a busy couple of days and will have a couple more, but our strata had it's AGM and I am no longer the secretary, YAY! I just need to tidy up the archives, then print out all the minutes for my use and then turn the whole thing over to the new gal! I did tell her that I would be more than happy to help any time she needed it tho. That's more than I got when I started, I had no idea what I was doing. After three years, I'm finally getting the hang of it. But I am more than happy to pass it along to someone else. And now I must go to bed, it's late, again.... :)
Hugs to those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!
Evelyn, who keeps threatening to go to bed early, but rarely seems to actually do it (on Vancouver Island)
ps so grateful that the grey in the morning sky has been clouds and not smoke, sure wish it would rain tho...

I'm quickly skimming my notes before I toss them into the shred pile and there are a lot of things I'm looking at thinking, "Well that seems obvious" ... but I know back then it went right over my head.

Kylia - Could you buy them out? Or at least buy out your sister in law? Bank loan? You could work up a business plan. I could never be an employee of my husband's. :o:o:o
It's asking for marital hell! It's an impossible position to be in. Especially as you never seem to talk. Can't do wonders for your relationship!

    Two Zooms today.

Tracey - Priceless. <3<3<3 You have two amazing grandchildren.

Throw a ball? Like ... go to a dog park and play fetch.

Take him for walks around the neighbourhood.

Rhody and one of his favourite balls - he loves playing catch with his tennis ball and about 30 other balls: ping pong balls, jingly balls, rubber balls and all sorts. They're everywhere!!
Once or twice an evening, I throw the ball down the hall and he catches it. Sometimes, if it is a ping pong ball, he'll even "play hockey" and bring it back to me by batting it from one paw to the other until he gets to me. If it is the tennis ball, he'll grab it do a somersault around it.
Then I'll throw it again ... and again ... and again ... and I run up and down the hall after Rhody and the ball ... and we play hide and seek.
This goes on for 15 or 20 minutes each evening. :)
I should probably count that as exercise too!

I have noticed DH tries to manipulate me through guilt. Will not work on me. I am getting better at setting boundaries and sticking to them. I am inspired by the generattion of woman that follow me. My nephew is married to a woman who easily says no if she knows she needs to rest and not participate in an outing. (No guilt) My son's darling ex wife had a job where her boss insisted he teach her how to pour water. She turned in her resignation. I did find out she remarried and has a lilttle boy now. She stuck by my son for five difficult years. I wish her only the best.

The cousin he traveled with said your partner should treat you like a King. My response to that was you start treating me like a Queen then it is fair for me to treat you like a King. His response was so its his fault.(there goes that guilt thing again) I said no it takes both of us. For me I would be happy if he accepted Drew better. She is the sweetest dog. She does not give up on him. She still tries to go up to him and give him love. She doesn't bark, growl, or get too hyper around him. If anything she acts too submissive. In private I tell her submissive is not necessary around him. Ignoring him if he is not responsive is the way to go.

BARBARA, RATS When I had a country house I would sometimes get field rats, just barely bigger than mice. But the idea that it was a "rat" was upsetting. I first used catch and set free traps. But 1) I saw one caught and then no-longer there shortly after! He got out. 2) with a mouse trap like that, since I wasn't there all the time it died of thirst. That seemed probably worse than poison. Between rare flies, ants, slugs coming up the old drains, and others I counted 25 possible critters that could be in the house. I aimed for non-killing methods (often successful against insects! Flies find lavender hanging in the center of the kitchen really repulsive.) (dogs also don't like lavender!) but if I was to be away for 7 weeks I was not ok with having the house over run by 3 or 4 types of insects and animals and so did what I had to to keep them out for the most part. It was me or them, and I had to choose me, sometimes. It's a touchy question for some.

ADVOCATE/SKIN I have to be my own advocate. some doctors are helpful, but not always. You had skin cancer surgery, right? How long ago was that, if you don't mind my asking. Honestly I am thinking that now that I'll be using big protection (sunscreen, shade, clothing), the major risk at present is residual growths which have already started but not yet reared their heads. Literature repeatedly says that 1st recurrences generally occur within the 1st 2 years if they are to occur. I imagine that is PARTLY due to residual growth that was already in process at the time of 1st diagnosis, since carcinoma is often said to be very slow-growing.

APNEA TEST: I didn't show all. it's true it's not strapped around the head, but tubes IN the nose, (not my favourite!!), and then tubes taped to cheekbones, and also a thing taped to neck with big 6x 4 inch patch and also thing taped to chest the same way, and also machine on wrist, with belt and tape, and mesh glove around hand with clip on finger, and tube connecting it all. I found the tape the most annoying over time. I'm sure I slept less, because when I awoke at 3:30 I was uncomfortable enough not to go back to sleep. Fortunately I had gone to sleep earlier than usual (about 10:30? early for here) because I had to give them a bedtime in advance and having the equipment on me since 4:30 made it untempting to go out, do errands, etc. So 5 hours or so it was.

ALLIE like MACHKA I was thinking throw a ball too. I'm sure I have thrown ball for lively dogs and also for toddlers of very young kids when I didn't have the oomph to keep up. Dogs are generally more up for that for quite some time, than kids.
