I ran a short one yesterday. Today nada (taking from @swenson19d). Today was spent packing up the house. We have packers coming but we need to go through some things and some they won't pack. There is more packing in my future but I figure it is like cross training or strength training - right? Had a flooring guy out today and another out tomorrow morning so no early run in the (finally) coolness. I may will get out later for at least a walk if not a run!
@CarsonSurfs - where are you in SoCal? I am in Anaheim not far from the mouse house.
@7lenny7 - yay for a great race! Love that you have a new racing friend!
@kgirlhart - thinking of you! 💕6 -
@Scott6255 Glad you had a good run. You might be surprised about your speed, especially in the "heat" of a in person race.
@7lenny7 Great race and love the interaction you are having with the older lady. She sounds awesome.
@martaindale Nice running this month and yeah for cooler temperatures.
@kgirlhart Nice running. Hugs to you and your family. The first, and subsequent anniversaries are hard.katharmonic wrote: »I asked a friend how her run went today and she said "how did you know I ran?" I answered you always do long run on Fridays. Turns out it's not Friday . A fact which has annoyed me all day long. This will be remedied tomorrow I guess!

I ran solo from home this morning. The stars were shining brightly in the night sky. I expected to see the moon but I guess it was busy chasing Elon Musk's crew around the galaxy. About a quarter mile from my house some deer decided to cross the road about 15 feet in front of me. I had to stop and wait for them as they just kept coming. There were only five in total but they were spaced out.
Great race @7lenny7!

6 miles today. I'm glad I checked my schedule cuz I had 5 in my head.
We may have finally reached the turning point in Phoenix. This morning actually had the crisp, cool feeling to it (as much as 82° can feel crisp/cool but iykyk). Our highs have only been getting to 100. Only. 100.
Anyway... 94/1746 -
@swenson19d I love that you're kickboxing!

I didn’t run this morning, I woke up and decided to take a quick drive to watch the North Alabama Showcase XC meet in the next town over. The teams were mostly D1 consisting of Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, U of South Alabama (where Skip goes), Mississippi St etc. Great meet. So I belong to this FB group for parents of college athletes and so I post, hey anyone have a kid at this meet and a mom says yes my boy runs for U of TN. So I take pictures of all their boys during their race and luckily I got a some what decent shot of her son Tom. She was so grateful said she’s in NY and haven’t seen him since July and missed him so much and was crying looking at the picture. So after the meet was over I strolled on over to their tent and said hi are you Tom? He must have thought I was nuts and I said, can I take a picture to send your mom she misses you so much? He said sure and stands up gives me a big smile and I take the picture and a selfie of us and I thank him, and tell him she loves and misses him and that she so proud of him (all she posted to me on FB). He was like thank you so much. So I post the pictures to her and she said I just made her day she needed to see him so much. I told her he looked so happy when I walked over he was chatting with his teammates with a big smile on his face and that he ran great and looked really strong. Well he sent her a text and said do you know her and his mom said nope she just happened to be there and mentioned it on our FB group. I was so happy to help another momma know her child was doing good while she was so far away from him. So glad I decided to go to the meet instead of running this morning.
@rheddmobile interesting about the curfew. We have a prison about 8 miles as the crow flies from my house, occasionally they escape. It’s actually I really big place, surrounded by farm land so no where to hide if you get out.

@Tramboman Glad you are healing.
@7lenny7 Uneventful is good.
@skippygirlsmom That's such a great story about Tom and his mom. So glad you were able to do that for them.

@skippygirlsmom - Your recount of your morning adventures made my eyes leak! That was so nice of you.1

@quilteryoyo @Teresa502 @Scott6255 I know when someone heads towards Skip's school and stops to give her a hug or buy her lunch it makes me so happy. We think our college kids are so grown up and they are making their own way but sometimes a few words or a hug from a "mom" just makes everyone's day. I was so happy to be able to put a smile in her heart (and hopefully his) today.4

I was referring to the Guinness 10K World Record run on Sunday. Yes, it will be local (around my neighborhood)4 -

I am going to kickboxing class today. Should be fun!

Hello everyone. I wish I had found this sooner, but I assumed it was only for hard core runners, but there appears to be broad spectrum. If this isn't an appropriate place to ask questions, just let me know.
I have a 15k in 23 days and I am completely unprepared. If anyone would like to offer words of wisdom to get me across the finish line, shoot away! In these final weeks I have been following the Hal Higdon novice 15k plan--I switched to that last week after following the Nike Run Club 10k training for awhile. I believe the Hal Higdon program is assuming you will run/walk, which will probably be the outcome, but I still am holding on to a shred of hope that I can run it. Any thoughts, or is it too late for any gain?
Also, any advice on diet, say the week leading up? I am on a large deficit right now, and wonder if increased calories would have any significant impact?
Thanks!!
For reference:
9-2 3.1m
9-5 6.2m
9-7 3.1 m
9-9 4m
9-11 7m
9-14 3.1m
9-16 3.1 m
every other day is speed walking/elliptical/treadmill/biking, etc.5 -

Hahaha - Oh that one that I'm signed up for too! Yeah, I definitely won't be racing it. I did get my Garmin connected to the site yesterday, so I'm all ready to go.4
