@Lilylady3k - Monte is soooo cute, too funny!4

Not checked in all month and it’s showing in my behaviour.
Have had alcohol 8times which is ok, still under my targeted allowance but I am so bad at controlling the quantity, I just can’t/won’t stop at 2 glasses!! Grrrr!
Time to read through the encouraging words on the thread, re-set and re-focus.
Not helping with my weight loss journey either. I made it to 40lb loss and that’s slowly creeping up again and I still want to loose another 80lbs. You’d think after spending 3 years fighting cancer I’d have more sense! No more alcohol for the reminder of the month!!9 -
I wasn’t sure! So LSU then? I asked because my son went to Ole Miss for a semester. He’s at IU now3
-
So - I made it to day 9 without any alcohol, but after an afternoon of dental work, my husband ordered a margarita and I caved. That was two days ago. Going to try again for 10 days. I definitely felt healthier. And I’m proud of myself for not turning one evening into multiple evenings. That’s the hardest part for me, once I’m off track it’s hard to get back on.8

DH & I were AF this evening at an Italian restaurant with our adult kids celebrating my birthday. Being supportive. DIL is pregnant and due in December. My daughter is pregnant but not told anyone yet but us. So to help keep the secret we didn't order wine for the table ... because her brother would have commented if she did not have a glass. As it was he was in shock that no one ordered alcohol this evening.6

Late posting because I had another long 12 hr. workday. My brain is focused on food and sleep at this point.
Feeling impressed with so many people reporting progress in so many ways and taking control of their lives...
@77topcat, wow 40 lbs gone is amazing, I would be elated to have 10 lbs off!
@SavageMrsMoose, 9 days with no alcohol is a very good feeling...
Happy Birthday to you @Lilylady3k, mine is Thursday! Now I remember, lots of us had birthdays around the same time...who else?

@globalhiker - Happy Birthday to you too!!!6

Happy Birthday @lilylady3k. That is a great dinner story. A win win for all involved. Beautiful Monte btw. How can you resist that remorseful face?
The birthday train started with @dawnbgethealthy at the end of September, then it was my birthday October 2, and @mainelylisa had hers on Oct 8th. There were others last year but they have not posted in months.6 -
@SavageMrsMoose and you too.....nice victory with your 9 days AF.
All of these successes keep us moving forward.5 -
What has happened to our male posters????
@Stockholm_Andy has been MIA for too long.5 -
Welcome to our thread @BufSabres.

@globalhiker your "bucket list" is extremely impressive.
My desires are just to GET OUT of New England and take it from there.5 -
@Womona my husband works at a marina and the sail boats that dock in there are enormous. They've even had Tom Cruises yacht "Cocktails" dock there. Oh then Fall comes and the marina is empty again until next year.
Good job sticking to the one glass and not opening another.5 -
Nothing exciting on my end. Doing my AF Sunday-Friday has really proved successful for me.
Oh but then Halloween 🎃. Still not feeling it, because times have changed with the pandemic. Our town is very quiet and the choices for Halloween party venues $#*&.

Happy belated birthday to all, and happy birthday @globalhiker today!!5

Oh my Lord, did I want a drink last night, starting at about 5:00 with a very busy and stressful day at work. So much for the six minute craving, it lasted for four hours! I was able to stave it off by getting a little snack at around 7:00, but I didn’t get out of work until after 9:00, and I still wanted a drink when I got home. I resisted though. Had dinner and went to bed. Was rewarded by the scale going back down this morning!
Close one!9 -
I am continuing with my usual goals, 16-20 AF days per month.
Diary style
Wednesday October 27 - Drinks after my split shift, then 3 days off coming! I may have drinks Friday night prior to or after the play at the local little theatre
Rolling total - 15AF days out of 27 days.4 -
@globalhiker
Happy Birthday! I hope that you were able to take the day off of work.4 -

@SavageMrsMoose - Cruel LOL
No not at all ... except when they are playing Bama!
It was painful to watch LSU lose to Ole Miss this past weekend.
Why does everyone hate BAMA? Roll Tide 4 life!3 -

Oh darn today IS Thursday.
Happy birthday @globalhiker.4 -
Oh what a day. First, Happy Birthday to all the October folks I missed!
Thanks MFP friends for the nice wishes. I look forward to the weekend so I can get in two day hikes and some nice dinners with family....and plan my retirement and my "fun life".....:)
@MissMay, we are exploring the Prescott area for a future retirement. I will go "up north" a bit this weekend and see how we feel about it. In case you like access to a lot of stuff- concerts/events/golf courses/shopping outlets, a zillion restaurants, etc... you may prefer Anthem or Cave Creek Communities. A bit far out with a bit cooler air at night, safe, but still close to everything. Me, I need that acre +, a garden, the deer and the forest. Some snow and rain is just fine. Funny how we always want what we don't have...!
I was not AF today by any means. 2 mini sparkling rose, really just fine, that was the plan. And I snuck in a beer. Over the limit and off to bed.....

DH and I were both AF the first evening @ fishing camp 🎣
We had a wine rack full of wine at home and about half way driving down yesterday DH asked if I remembered to put any bottles in when packing. Honestly I completely forgot ... really ... because my plan had been to ask him which one he wanted with steaks this weekend and we were busy mowing the lawn and prepping to leave the house ... and it slipped my mine.

October accountability: 6/27 days AF
Alcohol: 22 days (60 drinks)
October is a real challenge since we have planned a 2500 mile road trip for 16 days across 11 cities in 6 states. I'm going to give myself a break on a few of my normal rules.
Goal (usual vs new):
- Limit 1-2 3 glasses per day
- 12-16 10-12 AF days per month
- Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row Not force this during vacation!
- Aim to drink no more that 2 nights in a row after returning on Oct 17

Thursday October 28 - Drinks. My friend bought me a Halloween coloured fancy glass. I had Apricot Brandy and Irish cream in it. I have cancelled out of going to the play at the theatre, I was too busy to see what the content is, and it is a teen bullied girl that gets murdered. Nope. So I will stay home and be AF instead.

We all like glassware. Something AF could go in here too I suppose...
I did my nails orange too by coincidence.

@Lilylady3k
Wow, going to a good Italian restaurant and not having wine is restraint indeed.
We used to have a good Italian restaurant here (they didn't serve alcohol) but they retired several years ago.
You are so fortunate to have so many choices in Houston.
Have fun at fishing camp!3 -
@dawnbgethealthy - Thanks! Yes Italian restaurant on my birthday with good wine but passing and staying AF was restraint indeed!
Tonight I'm AF once again. DH & I sat outside on the porch overlooking the water and my norm is to have drinks. But I passed on both the beer and bourbon & coke that he had. Drank my orange flavored sparkling water.
10/27 - AF
10/28 - AF @ fishing camp 🎣
10/29 - AF @ fishing camp 🎣

Wanted to pop in and say Happy Halloween to all my LA Peeps! Miss y'all! I'm doing well. 5 months since last drink. I set a goal to get to 108 on my 60th bd on 10/8 (get it?) and I did it. I am short, and this is the weight that stops my legs from rubbing together--true litmus test. Never could have done that drinking wine. I probably lost 10 pounds when moderating, and another 7 after quitting wine & starting low carb/keto. Never posted my belly on social media, but took this blurry pic as the last photo of my 50's on my new Peleton (which I'm hoping will save me this winter).
I miss wine sometimes, but the longer I go, the more I develop new interests and accomplish new goals, which has really been lacking in my life--so greatly helps with motivation.
I really think we should plan a get-together in the next year. Would love to have y'all at my cabin at Moosehead! Of course, a meetup in South Italy sounds delightful too!
Wishing you happiness on your LA journey and in life...every drink you don't take is a success story!
