Flea, my dear, so pleased the tests are showing good things. Kinda unnerving when they start losing things in your innards! Hoping the bone spots have diminished. Thinking of you.
Corey and I are enjoying the quiet here, but not the reason. Our daughter's agitation drove her to go home a day early. No matter how I tried to reassure her that we were OK, she was totally embarrassed because Levi is in the terrible twos, with its accompanying temper tantrums and meltdowns. Part of the issue, too, was that she had to be right behind him, taking things out of his hand, because our house wasn't put together with a rowdy little destructo-monster in mind. Her own house is, of course. I hate seeing her so overwrought, but all I could provide was hugs. We should see her and the younger two the week of Thanksgiving.
Here's to a lovely, quiet Sunday for us all.
Love y'all,

I am home from surgery. Things went well. I am sore, of course, and my movement is slow, but I am moving around. Well, not this minute. I am in a recliner surrounded with blankets and pillows right now.
Preliminary reports say that the two closest lymph nodes tested negative for cancer. If that holds with further testing, that is quite good news. It also means my recovery should be easier, because she removed just two lymph nodes, the two closest to the primary tumor. I am already moving and lifting my arm much more than I expected I would be able to do.
We still have the bone spots to worry about, but I am hopeful they will have shrunk. I should be having a PET sometime soon.
She lost one of the mag clips inside of me. I guess she dug around for it, tried to find it through U/S or xray, and just couldn't find it. They finally had to stich me up. She is hoping it got suctioned out without anyone realizing. They are very, very small. In any case, it is titanium, so I guess it is okay if it is still floating around inside of me somewhere. That loss made the surgery a little longer, so it was a full four hours.
I was in recovery for over three hours because they couldn't find me a bed. I am so thankful that I was able to have the surgery, and I was quite worried that I would just end up hanging out in recovery for the whole time. But they ultimately found me a room/bed. My first nurse was a travel nurse, and she didn't inspire confidence, honestly. But I guess I should be thankful she was there. The staff was overworked and short handed, so I got quite a bit of rest last night because they didn't have time to check on me.
I really do feel pretty good. Pain meds help.

I'm glad to hear that things went fairly well. I hope the remainder of the recovery goes well.

Hi Gals,
Levi update – he is completely fine, took just a bit over 24 hours to be fully himself but sleep was the answer. I am so thankful for the support.
Lisa – So sorry to hear about DD’s hubbys bad behavior. He is really got his head up his kitten hole.
Flea – I am glad for the success of the surgery, and for the honesty of the doctor to tell you that there might be an extra bit floating around in there. A bit disconcerting but if you ever get trouble from it you will know what might be the issue.
A big thank you to Machka our resident IT guru, I have not yet needed her services but it is so nice to know we have help “in house”
So although I am vaccinated and boostered, I continue to meet mostly in very small groups and stay with “known” individuals. I meet my clients in my garage with the big car access door open and masked. But today I took a HUGE jump out of my comfort zone – and am exhausted part from what I did and part from the event. The back story, Levi has become friends (and me too) with Linda, a gal who lives at our local subsidized senior housing; she is often sitting outside having a smoke at the early hour we walk by. (I do think some of her low-income issues is due to poor choices- but who am I to judge) She uses a walker and is not strong, as I have gotten to know her I believe that she is younger than she looks, but I am guessing she is in her 70’s. The housing unit is adjacent to our community senior center and today was our senior center boutique Crafts and food made by the seniors and other community members for sale. Linda had a booth, it turns out she is an excellent seamstress and made bags, purses, makeup bags, and some tablet covers. All very nice. She asked if I could help her get the items over to the booth and set it up. I said sure, well one thing led to another and I ended up staying and helping sell the items. So I spent from 9-3pm in a room with lots of folks coming and going – at times feeling very overwhelmed. I can do the “sales job” with great success but I HATE it. I helped sell most of her items and she was thrilled, but I feel like my social battery is completely depleted.
Headed to my jammies and to do a bit more embroidery before bed.
Thinking of everyone.

So glad Levi is OK.
That was a nice thing you did helping Linda.

November: leaner/stronger/kinder than October.
Accountability:Chose well: BP, dogs to powerline, dog group
Bonus: 40+ mins vacuuming, two loads laundry
Just one thing:
13: Do something playful outdoors - walk, run, explore, relax: dog group? Yesterday’s burn barrel? Today’s SAR adventure!
14: Find a new way to help or support a cause you care about. Nope. Lacking energy and passion to do any more than already doing. :
Thanks Barbie for teaching me the shortcut to bookmarks in my profile circle. Still miss the gold star :}
Thanks Tina, like Carol said, that helps. That and Tracey’s and Barbie’s tip about the “calorie counter” link at the bottom of the page.
Michele, sorry I don’t know anything about tablets. I do know I have to be logged in to get to my food diary. Sometimes mfp has mysteriously logged me out, mid session, no idea how or why. When you can’t add a new food, look up to top right of screen and see if there is a “log in” option. Good luck!
Allie glad your power came back on before you got too cold.
Rebecca right back atcha’
Flea “…she dug around for it, tried to find” the missing mag clip. UGH! Thankful to hear from you and the quite good news about the nodes. “. . .got quite a bit of rest last night because they didn't have time to check on me.” your positive take and humor! Prayers.
Kim kind hearted of you to help Linda sell her things. Hoping all at the bazaar were masked. Jammies are the sovereign solution for depleted social batteries.
Was so tired from today’s dog group then SAR adventure that I went straight to bed without dinner. Slept 6 hours. Had a bowl of yoghurt while catching up, now ready to snooze a couple more hours.
Lighter, lovelies!

A few pics from my morning run today.
This is the road I run down to get to the seafront. In the sunshine you can see the sea behind the beach huts.
These were some splendid ladies, of a certain age, finishing off their exercise session.
I meant to take a photo of the old boys fishing, but I got distracted by the paddle boards and kayaks!
I'm in love with this seagull.
Altogether a grand time.
Now to take a pic of DH's cake he baked yesterday. And, yes, Barbara, he eats it all by himself, icing, marzipan and all.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
PS A quick plea to those of you who are reading, or who have read my book - a (good!) review on Amazon would be hugely appreciated. I will love you for ever. Algorithms are everything these days. Thank you.

Ready to be wrapped up and put in a tin until marzipanning and icing nearer Christmas.
Love you, Heather UK xxxxxx5 -
:)We got our Moderna boosters yesterday afternoon and feel another big hurdle has been jumped. We still won't change where we go (almost nowhere) or what we do (almost nothing outside our neighborhood), but we feel safer.
I got a phone call yesterday from a woman in my line dance class who told me that someone was going to teach beginning line dance at the Senior Center starting in December. She wanted me to mail her a list of phone numbers of people in my class so she could call some of them and tell them about the class. I smiled (to make my voice sound pleasant), and said "no".
Lisa,
Flea
Heather, what a great place you live. It was worth all the time and hand-wringing it took to make the move.
Barbara, I admire the way you respond so well to everyone.
This morning I walk alone and listen to podcasts, then we drive to town to pick up groceries.

Flea - So glad the op went well. I expect the missing clip got hoovered up somehow! They are taking good care of you. I had around 13 lymph nodes out, which caused a medium term problem with lymphodema. I could have done without that, but it's much better now. You can see the stretchy arm sleeve in my profile pic.
Now for rest, rest and more rest.
I used my app and produced this. I might print it out as a birthday card for my elder son.

Lisa – my heart breaks for your daughter and you
Barbara – will check on my tablet the next time I can’t add a food. Thank you for the suggestion
Heather – what kind of cake is that? Looks yummy
barbie – why wouldn’t you share that list? Was that the place you used to teach?

Heather ~ Can you share your husband's fruit cake recipe. I would love to try and make one.
Carol in GA1 -
Peach and Michele - This is the book I use. I hope you can get it in the US. It is the best book I have ever found for baking, because it gives quantities for all sizes of tins, square and round. I make both the Rich Fruit cake and the Chocolate cake regularly. I have made tiered cakes, using the instructions in this book, for christenings. I was a complete beginner.
Otherwise there are loads of recipes online for Christmas cake. I used to make the Delia Smith one, but it is more crumbly. This one slices better. I must put more glycerine in the royal icing this year as it gets rock hard by the time DH has finished eating it!

Heather ~ Thanks! I just bought it for my kindle. My brother-in-law loves fruit cake (he's the one with memory issues in assisted living). Will have to study the recipe.

Peach - we made the 8" round one. It is quite big and even bigger with marzipan and icing on it!

Barbara - some time ago you asked me what a dryrobe was. Here it is. Absurdly expensive, but a lot of people love them.
Kim - How kind you were to a neighbour.

MICHELEJulie – can you order the sofa bed and when it comes in store it somewhere so that you can put it in and not have to wait the 6 months?
FLEA you sound amazingly calm! Glad things went pretty well all and all. Thinking of you!
KAREN Life these days is exhausting. Have most of us not been marked for life by this health crisis? (maybe some for the better, enjoying the quiet and others something else entirely).
Not a great week, but...
got a wee bit of cleaning done this week. Good meeting on Wednesday....um....no major disasters! LOL already that!
Home is warm, dry, living in country in peace, plenty of food and water and warmth and basic comforts, cozy bed, electricity, heat, running water, safety. Luxuriezs that so many people will not have with such ease, and that so few other than royalty had over 100 years ago. Counting these blessings.5 -
Hey ladies! Hugs all round to peeps that wish them💖👍 . Just a rainy, gray day here on Whidbey. I have 10 letters to write to pen pals, but I might just wait until after we return from son's. I am just not in the mood to write presently.
I'm a wee bit nervous to travel, just because I have never done the Amtrak bus to the train station deal. I pray that traffic will behave, and the train waits for us if it needs to. I have never been to Kings street Station in Seattle so its just the fear of the unknown. Once I get on the train I should be fine. I might just make up a nice turkey sandwich that I can eat once I get on the train. The bus ride is 2 hours and the train is 3. If I put a cool pack on the sandwich it should be fine the 2+ hours. That will be my only meal that day. I get into Portland's Union station at 9:45pm, and don't want to have to need to eat before bed. Son is picking me up.
I told my sisters I was going to be in the area and I would love to visit, 22nd, 23rd or 24th. My middle sister finally got back to me, but dealing with her neuropathy nerve issues in hands and feet. Numb and pain. She texted that she might have to go to ER. I told her to not mess around and get to ER for some answers. Looked it up and poor eating habits and alcoholism can be why you get neuropathy issues. So doctors just gave her vitamins and minerals she needs to take. So more meds! The root of the problem is still there though. She needs to stop drinking and smoking. We didn't text much because it is hard for her, so I asked if it would be better to call each other. She said she didn't want to talk. So probably not going to be able to get with her. My eldest sister hasn't contacted me yet. But at least I offered. It seemed rude to be in their area, and not offer (to have them drive the 45 min or hour depending on which sister) to visit. Just trying to keep my door open to family.💖👍
Have a good day all!

I have been in bed all day with stomach cramps,i was hungry so i made some instant cream of wheat and will just lay low today... im wondering if I have crohns or something of that sort.. im hoping not,Lord ive had my share of enough stuff going on ..3 -
Karen - I love that seagull too. He was really letting everyone know he was king of the pole. The 'artwork' is a simple free app called Polish. I've been having fun with it. I used the app for my book cover and my Instagram posts.
I've just ordered some thick paper/card that I can print on to make greetings cards.

Still stuffed up on one side on my face so wanted to wait for booster. I am am scheduled Nov 26 day after Thanksgiving. We decided we are going to have a roast instead of turkey this year and hopefully younger son can join us. DH tries to push himself. Today he did laundry and made soup. He does better when he has a goal for the day.3

I wouldn’t have shared the list either Barbie. I find it incredibly rude for people to share phone numbers without first getting permission to do so.
