Well husband takes me to the on base clinic pharmacy to get my blood pressure meds. I get those and go to the family practice window to make an appointment. They show me to the door down the hall where the appointments are made. Talk to that guy and he asked the reason, I say UTI. He said he'll have a gal come to talk to me, no appointment needed. So I wait and then a gal comes and we sit off to the side. I answer her questions, go down the hall to give urine sample. They call me 5 minutes after we get home. Tomorrow I get the meds for that. Easy peasy. The perks of my husband being in the military for 20 are apparent!๐๐

Well my parents made it home from the eye doctor. My dad had his eyes dilated but drove home anyway. At least they said next time they would ask me to help.
Teddy is home from getting three teeth extracted. He is still wobbly, and I think he needs a good nap before he tries the back steps.
And I made an appointment to get a new phone on Friday. And a dentist appointment for January. I don't know which is more scary.
So it wasn't a bad day after all my worrying.

Worked then came home and made manicotti to have when Steve is here. I try to have some sort of casserole the day he gets here because you never know the time. Not going to log today but will be careful of what I eat
I donโt ever recall having a toddler bed for any of the kids. Then again, the crib had a door so if they wanted to get out, they could. I seem to recall they went directly from the crib to a regular bed.
Called Denise and left a message (again) to give us a call. Iโd like to ask her if sheโll come down this holiday season since we couldnโt go up there in September (Pete had covid). Sheโll say โnoโ, Iโm sure of it But at least I asked
Pip โ you may be retired, but before you retired, where did you find the time to work?
Tracey โ how I know the smell sticks. Seriously, we should invest in fabric softener. So many times I wash the shirt (almost every day) and use fabric softener just to get that smell out
barbara โ even the word โlivermushโ sounds gross
katla โ when Vince had knee surgery, the next day the PT had him out of bed and walking. He screamed in agony. Her answer???? Close the door
celticcapergirl โ welcome! This is as good as place as any to post an introduction.
Allie (grandmallie) โ I donโt remember how long Iโve been here, either. Really, this is the only forum Iโm on
Woo hoo...I just got to my 7 day streak!!!
Anne DE โ hate to say it, will your parents remember the next time that they want you to help out at the eye MD? Did they give Teddy pain med?
Went to Newcomer bowling tonight. We had a few ball return problems so when I went to give the girl at the desk the envelopes for our team Vince wanted me to tell her emphatically how there was a major problem. To be honest, I didnโt say a word to them. Reallyโฆ.the gal behind the desk couldnโt do anything about it. But when Vince asked me if I told her, I just said โyesโ. Itโs not worth getting into about it. I know the gal canโt do anything so why get worked up about it?

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: take BP, dogs to powerline, Tโai Chi, dog group

Just one thing: deleted 5 Holiday Baking episodes (reruns) from DVR without watching.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, make up 30 mins Tuesdayโs line dancing (practice WBW, B, GDLL, SL, DM, SWTD), backup files then call pc guy to schedule tuneup, fire district: research district tax exemption for volunteer firefighters, AFG grant requirements including NIMS, call NFPA cancel inactive accounts, clarify benefits included in annual dues, input 2019 call sheets into NFIRS, work with chief on equipment letter, substance abuse policy, NFIRS, index mutual aid files and share with L; start Part D research with new rx info, watch STAS Day 20, declutter sideboard, learn new dances (Tequila Little Time, Homesick, Nothing but You, A Little Less Broken, Blame it on my beating heart, Do Your Thing, practice dances: All Night, TGIF, I ainโt never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), One Margarita); finish mulching flowerbed, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddieโs for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant the last of the naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity Iโll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsieโs stove, ask Te about GBโs FD firetruck tax levy โ contacts, media, advocate???, Sunday: call S, Reward: inventory seeds, plan next springโs garden, wishlist replenishments (Milena F1 orange peppers and beit alpha cukes next year).

3: Get outside and observe the change in nature around you: Soft earth, new green grass, mushrooms, mushrooms, mushroomsโฆ oh and a newt or a salamander or two.
4: Sign up to join a new course, activity or online community: nope. Well maybe Pastor Jimโs Bible study would be more to my taste than BGBSโฆ
Went out to the deck to try Tโai Chi before daylight. Dogs were having none of it. Soon as the recorded voice began, they started barking. They insisted on coming out to the deck, as if to watch my back, then promptly curled up and went to sleep. Some guard dogs!
Found a newt? salamander? sheltering under the brush pile yesterday. Now that that pile is gone, she/heโs migrated to the main pile, seems to like it under the tarps Might be a northwestern salamander, looks a little pudgy, could she be carrying eggs?
Here's another we saw a few days ago scuttling down the wall and across the deck
Katla glad to hear your PT wasnโt painful. Did he suggest any stretches/exercises to do at home?
Welcome @celticcapergirl1 ! Would you let us know what youโd like to be called, and your general locale.
Intro: Iโm Barbara, (not to be confused with our great leader Barbie), the Ageing Hippie, Mother of Dogs who lives with them and her DH in a cabin in the woods above the southern Oregon coast. No kids, fostered nephews now grown with kids of their own, thousands of miles away. My god daughter gave me my screen name โauntiebkโ when she was just little. Now also grown with 6 kids of her own. Born in SF, lived in Bay Area and Northern California for 47 years, then Boise Idaho for 20 years of work. Retired and scooted back to the coast quick as we could, winter is too long and too cold in Idaho. We had ice on the deck two years from November to May.
Sunrise here today 7:51, sunset (behind the rainclouds) 18:09. Back in Boise it would have been dark until 8:22, then dark again at 18:34.
Penny @lagopus came to mind today, hope allโs well with her and hers.

Most cribs nowadays have a way to build the crib into a youth bed. The crib I had my eldest was a crib with drawers on the end of the crib frame. If you pulled those off you could put a little mattress where the drawers were and it was a youth bed with the drawers becoming a night table. The sides of the crib came off. There were two large drawers at the base of the crib/youth bed. I think I had it for all three sons.๐

Just doing my roots. Soon to be a natural blonde again.
Note to self : when your legs are really aching in the night, don't just lie there, tossing and turning, get up and rub on some Voltarol.
I eventually did, but I had already lost a couple of hours of sleep. Drifted off after that.
Funny story about Tuesday. Edie came back from her music lesson wanting to share with us a Spanish song she was learning. Because she goes to a bilingual school, her Spanish has an impeccable Spanish accent. She kept on asking Alexa to play it for us. Alexa was clearly confused. You can imagine the shouting and frustration as Alexa kept saying she couldn't find it, or playing the wrong song. Max said it was the definition of insanity to keep doing the same thing while expecting a different result.
DH and I found it for her on our phones, but Alexa was still stumped by Edie's accent.
Eventually, Alexa gave up and said "Do you want me to speak to you in English and Spanish? "
Then I said, in my best Queen's English, "Alexa, play Volar by Alvero Soler"
She found it straight away!
(If you speak Spanish, you will know that v and b are the same sound and Edie has a very thick accent. )
What fun!

Good news in Paris!
Paris goes all-in on bikes
https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/newsroom/2021/11/04/paris-goes-all-in-on-bikes/
The city of love, the city of light, the city of bikes? Paris recently announced a 250 million euro infrastructure plan that aims to make Paris "a 100% cycling city" by 2026.
Under the Bike Plan, central to the campaign of mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, an additional 180 kilometres of bike paths will be added to Paris' existing 1,000+ kilometres, as well as tens of thousands of new bike parking facilities and a self-repair shop in each of the city's 20 arrondissements.
I've enjoyed cycling in Paris in the past (the photos below are from our 2007 trip) ... and it sounds like it will be even more attractive going into the future! One day I hope to get back there again.
And me in Lille back in the day (2007)
Good memories.

Hello to all of the new ladies joining us!
My name is Kelly; but I go by KJ. I will be 55, this month. I am 5'8 and have more than 100 lbs to lose. I work full time at home (in West Michigan) as a childcare provider. Married 32 years. Three grown children, son age 34, daughter age 32, and son age 28. My daughter married, moved to Texas, and has gifted me with two (soon to be three) grandsons. I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading. I have been a part of this group for a little more than five years. They helped me get through the grief of losing my sister and my mother in law. They help me keep my head on straight about life choices that go far beyond health and fitness. A wonderful group of ladies who cover the entire realm of topics to be discussed. We do ask that politics and religion be discussed on another board, not on this one, as they are personal and divisive topics. All said, these ladies know more about my day to day life than most people that I see, in person, on a regular basis. I would gladly welcome any of them into my home if they ever travel my way!
A couple of photos taken from my walks this week:

Macka, Kelly & Pip thanks for sharing your pictures. It is nice to actually see what you are doing I feel like I am actually a part of your experiences
Today we're busy working on our floor project. The prep work actually takes more time than the treatment. They had so much glue on the cement that my husband is still working at getting that off. Then it will be my turn to do the acid stain treatment. That's more like an art project! Tonight we are meeting with our friends from the resort we used to stay at. We will be going out to supper then over to their place for the evening. Last night I picked up a little antique dresser and mirror that I plan to repurpose for the bathroom vanity. Can't wait to see how that will turn out!
I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Allie โ I enjoyed knitting the baby blanket for our unborn grandson. I hope you enjoy your project as much as I enjoyed mine. I had to redo a couple of times due to yarn issues. I got it done in the end and was happy with the finished blanket. So was our daughter in law.
Kelly โ Lovely photos!!!
My second physical therapy day will be November 11 & I hope for a good outcome for my damaged knee. I am beginning to look forward to our trip to Virginia. If all goes as planned, we will fly there on November 19th. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good trip.
