Pip, great remodeling of the laundry area! Ours is like your before picture. Its upstairs, hallway area. We could upgrade, but it would be on our dime, and would need approval from owner. There are more pressing issues they need to approve, like a new gutter system, and a new driveway. Sometimes being a renter really does suck!

Okie – I have contacted a breeder online, but nothing is definite at this time. I was told that there would likely be more litters in the spring. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Allie – You are wise. I wouldn’t want to be confined on a cruise ship until after the coVid mess is less worrisome.
Barbie – “The longest journey starts with a single step-“ This is true, in my experience.
(((RV Rita))) – I hope your colitis eases and you can be more comfortable.
(((Pip)))- On a happy note, you and Kirby are a lovely couple. I like the photo.
Barbie - We also have snow on the ground. This afternoon I took our garbage cans out to the street to be picked up tomorrow. I’m sorry that you’ve had power outages.
Lea in NY – Welcome!
Lisa in AR - Thank you for your kind words about the teddy bears. I took a class with several good friends long ago, and the teddy bears we born in the class. We lived in Tualatin, OR back then. I have been gone from there for long, long time and don’t know whether the shop is still there.
I have just had a lovely call from my daughter and enjoyed talking with her. She told me stories about getting her pup a year ago. She gave me a boost to start looking for a breeder near me. When I last talked to a breeder, she said she would have puppies sometime after New Years. I hope this will lead to good news for me.

It was -38C when I woke this morning.
Katie - your mother did a beautiful job!
Machka - I hadn’t thought about not having something to look forward to with the long nights not around Christmas, I think Christmas lights helps us Canadians get through.
Lisa - I hear ya about not liking how you look on video, I am the same. I learned a lesson about not being in photos or videos though when I suffered a terrible loss and learned I had no pictures of the two of us together. Since then I figured anyone that wants a picture with me loves me and doesn’t see all the flaws. I’ve carried that lesson into video chats.
I know my Mom just loves to see me.
Barbie - Cold is relevant to what you are used to. I’m not finding it that bad right now, hubby hates it though.
I haven’t stressed over holidays in a lot of years. I haven’t baked in years since both of our daughters enjoy it. Our eldest was ecstatic to receive a Kitchen Aid stand mixer from her DH for Christmas. Next year she’ll bake lots more I bet.
Vicki - what a sweetie she is!
Rita - handsome grandsons.
Debbie - I wish you could have a happy Christmas without drama.
Pip - I love your new washer/dryer setup thats what I would like to have.
Pretty nails!
I’ve had an interesting day. It started off with going to Michael’s to get some supplies to go with my new mug press DH bought me for Christmas. I also stopped at a walk in clinic to see about a cough I’ve had for the last few weeks that has gotten worse in the last couple of days. I took a rapid test for Covid before I left and it was negative. The doctor was not allowed to see me unless I had the full PCR test so went and had that this afternoon. I’m positive I have bronchitis, my doctor had told me a couple weeks ago if it got worse she would give me antibiotics, of course her office is closed right now.
I guess I’ll have to suffer through another couple of days before antibiotics kick in. I should be able to see a doctor tomorrow afternoon, when I get my test results.
Our eldest daughter texted me this morning and asked if our granddaughter had left new panties here on Christmas Day. I told her no, that she hadn’t opened any here. She said Michaela was having a meltdown because “Grammie bought her pink and purple panties and she can’t find them”. I ended up talking to a very teary Michaela and told her I hadn’t bought her any but her birthday is next Monday so on the weekend her and I could go shopping for some for her birthday. We think she must have had a dream. Anyway, I’m going shopping for panties this weekend. I only hope we find pink and purple ones. 😂
DH has taken over the tv all day and I’m a little frustrated, I think I’ll go take a bath and maybe lay on the bed after to watch something. I hate watching it in bed as I find it painful due to the way I gave to lay to see it. Tomorrow I will ask him to go to the bedroom. The World Juniors are on, Canada isn’t even playing today.

Tracey – when I was in school in Boston, there was this one hotel that had heated lights outside so their sidewalk was always clear. No one else had that. I have friends who are transgender and I’m always so amazed how comfortable they are with their bodies. I remember that in many ways I took my father for granted. Now that he’s gone, not a day goes by that I don’t think of him and want to ask him a question or something reminds me of how he did something. I do hope it doesn’t take the death of us forDenise to realize how she treated us and how it affected us.
Everyone’s grands are so adorable! Thanks for sharing the pics
I’m inviting Ken & Lynette here for New Year’s eve. I’m thinking of having a ham (can’t have fowl), mashed potatoes (left over from Christmas Eve, but I may have to make more), not sure which vegetable they like (I’m getting sick of corn and carrots), for dessert left over from christmas M&M cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and I need to make some dessert in green (for money). Not sure which kind of “green” dessert I’ll make. Just remembered that Lynette likes mac & cheese so I'll probably get some
Vicki – how do you keep from wanting to squeeze those cheeks?
Tracey – feel better fast.
Bowling today. My handicap is still in the triple digits!!! Vince goes for his allergy shot tomorrow.

Hello friends. Holiday came and went, and except for one long ugly cry, I was able to muster through the day, the memories and the 'first year' blues.
Love all the pix of families, weather and fun. My town would gladly take the snow, cold and rain. As I write this, there is a huge grass fire raging about 5 miles away. We are far too dry and warm for this time of year.
2022 will begin with travel. On January 13th, I'm set to take a short trip to San Diego to celebrate January birthdays with my DS, her DIL and her DH. I always have a good time with my sister's family.
In February, I'm scheduled to head to Maui for 2 weeks. However, the good friends from Portland who I had planned to meet up with over there have just cancelled. They are fully vaxed, but she has a serious autoimmune disease and doesn't want to risk getting the crud, especially so far from home. Now I have to decide if I'll still go. Cancellation fees are ridiculous, so rescheduling flight and condo might be the more prudent option.
This month marks 9 years I have been on MFP. How blessed I am to have come into this community and received all your wisdom, compassion and support over the years. Thank you for that, dear friends. Stay well, we can do this.

Finished digging the side garden!!
Hours of digging over 2 days.
Dug up lots of rocks and roots.
The rocks were carried up to the new rock feature.
Ready for planting now.
I can hardly move!! Everything feels stiff and sore!!

Can't have fowl?? Is someone allergic?
There are heaps of other veggies than corn and carrots.
Leafy green – lettuce, spinach and silverbeet
Cruciferous – cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and broccoli
Marrow – pumpkin, cucumber and zucchini
Root – potato, sweet potato and yam
Edible plant stem – celery and asparagus
Allium – onion, garlic and shallot.
Soy products – tofu (bean curd) and soybeans
Legume flours – chickpea flour (besan), lentil flour and soy flour
Dried beans and peas – haricot beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas and lentils
Fresh beans and peas – green peas, green beans, butter beans, broad beans and snow peas.
We usually have a mix of cauliflower, brussels sprouts, broccoli, green beans, broad beans, snow peas, carrots and corn most meals.

Accountability:Chose well: BP, SWSY, dogs to powerline YAY!
Bonus: phone chats with P and S, veg prep
Just one thing:
Do good December.
28: Be kind to the planet, eat less meat, use less energy. Stay home, don’t drive all day.
Woke to beautiful, big, puffy snowflakes falling. Caught them on phone. Didn’t “stick.” Got the dogs down to the powerline during a break, but wow, temps in the low 30s F felt cccold (sorry Tracey). Forecast for tonight is a wintry mix.
Skimmin’ as I’m pretty sleepy but have to say Vicki, your youngest GGD. Is that a red Christmas bow around her waist?
Lisa Can’t imagine working a 24 hr shift as a functionally single mother with young children. Can you share what your her job is?
Pip neat-o new laundry. the sparkles.
Sue you remind me of when we lived in Idaho. Joe had to shovel a path around the back yard for the dogs to use. Sometimes the snow was so deep, all you could see was the tips of their tails. Thankful for rain instead.
Annie hooray for yoga, boo for frozen bell peppers and cucumbers
Allie fingers X’d for the cardio appointment.
Tracey good luck finding those pink and purple panties! Warmed up to -26? Brrrr.
Debbie great gift for your mom and pic of your son.
Michele “triple digits” handicap
Rori to see your smiling face, and Mars too.
Welcome @kat2266 ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Machka I’m tired and sore just reading about your weeding/rock moving project. Well done!

Katla: Your Christmas teddy is adorable.
Heather: Sorry to hear about your DSiL. We’re still waiting for DGS’s PCR result.
Pip: Great photos of your family
Weather has been dire here, but we managed to get together yesterday for a walk in a local forest, during a dry spell. Even had a little sunshine. DGS declined to come. I put together a group photo from two pictures. L->R
DED, SiL, DGD, DYGS, DYD, DH, and me.
Finishing my tea in bed. I will read some more after I get dressed.

How Is everyone?
Hi, @kat2266 , Thanks for popping in! Please feel free to introduce yourself, let us know a little bit about you, what you'd like to be called, and where you live in the general sense. I'm Lisa in Arkansas and joined this group about five years ago. I had a gastric bypass 16 years ago, weighing 303 pounds and lost down to 137 in two years. However, I slowly gained a few pounds back here and there, until it became a lot of pounds. I got up to 219 two years ago, and have lost 50 pounds since that mark.
Most of us in this group tend to use this interaction only on My Fitness Pal, so don't be hurt if you don't get a lot of friend requests. We'll talk your ear off on the thread, though! It moves quite fast, so you might not get a response to your post quickly, but please feel free to respond to any discussion or subject that flies by. We're a friendly bunch. Our amazing leader, Barbie, will be posting a new, clean thread on Dec. 31, and will post a link to that January thread.
Welcome!
Regards,
Lisa in AR5 -
Rori- love love that pic of you and Mars the leash loving cat..
Kat2266- welcome and like Lisa said jump right in the water is fine..
My cousin in Tennessee is at the hospital as we speak getting induced .she is overdue wuth her baby boy do that will give my first cousin Bridget and her husband Doug 11 grandchildren. You should have seen me trying to keep the 9 straight that were there when I went for the wedding lol
The covid stuff is getting crazy and ramping up it is over 10% here in Connecticut in guessing because of the holidays.. like I said I am keeping my circle small and when i go to the cardiologist ill ask if i need another booster.. im not going to mess around.
10 days till my grandson is here we are all getting super excited..2 -
Betsy - So glad it was a good Christmas.
VickiL - Nevaeh is a beauty!
Barbara AHMOD - Thanks for asking! My soldier daughter is now a sergeant, and her job is patient administration. She has developed a well-deserved reputation as a troubleshooter who can turn a flailing department around. She just started her second assignment inside the large hospital facility where she's stationed, to help another department that's not doing well. The hybrid hospital departments staffed as half civilian, half Army have unique problems. She is also taking college classes and is partway into her first year of getting her nursing degree. I'm exhausted just thinking about it all.
Rebecca - Pictures of Athena are always such a joyful thing.
Terri - Love the family photo!
Tracey - Holy frigid frozenness, girl, that's cold.
Pip - Loving the laundry room, and the big family picture is just awesome.
Heather - There is something about Bea's getup that makes me happy. Kinda loving Edie's intrepid steps into the cold water, too!
More later,
Love,
Lisa in AR2 -
First of all, I've noticed a few new names so would like to extend a hearty welcome the new people that have joined over the last while.
Rori: The feeling is mutual. This is such a lovely group of ladies. Have a great time with your sister et al. 💖Mars
Machka: It's funny reading about your gardening when we are so deep in cold wet winter here. Carrying those rocks is better than a gym workout 😂
Rita: What good looking guys.
Pip: Very organised! 😍Your new nails
Barbara/Debbie We don't get a lot of snow in Northern Ireland. Temperature today is in the lower double-figure centigrade. Like you, I do love all the pictures of the snow, though. They remind me of my skiing holidays.
Vicki: 😍 Nevaeh. Such a happy little sweetheart.
Michele: I hope your toe isn't damaged. It can be such an inconvenience, especially when walking.
Barbie: Before Omicron arrived, I had thought I might return to some more of my activities in the new year. I've changed my mind until I see how things go over the next month or so.
Beth: I think of our departed family members a lot at this time of the year, have a trawl through old photos, remembering good times together, and make a pledge to them to keep their memories alive. It's a little personal ritual.
Rebecca: 😍 The pinny, and Athena the baker.
I overdid it a bit on the walk yesterday with the family, so I'm having an easy day today. DH has just headed off for a walk with her younger guard and her dogs. He does this regularly since her partner left her a couple of Christmases ago. It gives them a chance to talk politics without boring the pants off me.
All in all it's been an interesting Christmas, but we have managed to make the best of it. Covid has impinged on a lot of our lives, but we are strong women, and we will prevail.

Just finished ringing my friend whose partner died on the 19th. I've been taking all of your advice from this thread and I've been texting her a little message of love and support every day. I asked her yesterday if it was OK to ring her at 1.30, so that's what I did.
Mainly just let her talk, but I think it was good for her.
He died of an aortic aneurysm. While making her breakfast.
Let us value those we love while we have them.
She has just sent me a video of him dancing the night before.

Hi Ladies,
I've enjoyed following you all over the Christmas holiday. Ours was uneventful. We were supposed to go out of town, but we are being pummeled with rain all over the state. We decided to sit inside and watch and listen to the rain at home, rather than pay for a hotel and do the same thing elsewhere. Instead, we watched the first 3 Matrix movies (I still don't know what they're about) and had a dinner out at a nice restaurant on Christmas. I had an invite to a friend's (the closest to a family I have here) for Christmas Eve, but opted out. I found out yesterday that his son tested positive for COVID on Sunday. Whew!
My sister also has COVID, as does her boyfriend and my niece. They found out just before the family gatherings, which was good.
On a more fun note, we saw the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit. It was very nice and creative.
I'm still struggling to fit comfortably in my pants. I don't know what else I can do. I've even mostly given up beer and wine! That's a true sacrifice.
Have a warm day.
Tina in CA on a balmy 53 degree F rainy day.9 -
Well back from the cardiologist, gee I really like him so very much he has such a great sense of humor always making me laugh...took me off one of my meds yipee..go back in 6 months.. other than being overweight he is very happy heartwise..
He was pleased I got a smart watch and i showed him on the phone the ekg readout from this morning.. they do a normal one anyway.. but he said thats great he said if it reads zero than call me 😄
Pick up the kid in a couple hours and we go get our hair done.
Love this picture of Yogi..5 -
Michele – I love green beans and/or broccoli. Green-salad is also a favorite here.
Rori – I hope your travels bring you good times. Beginning the year with a trip to San Diego to celebrate January birthdays with your sister’s family is a good beginning. If you eventually head to Oregon as the year progresses, you would be welcome here.
Barbara – We are living in a winter wonderland--mostly staying inside and looking out the windows. Luckily, we had a good shopping trip the other day and aren’t likely to starve any time soon.
Terri – We have also managed to enjoy Christmas although our family is far away. I enjoyed a zoom chat with our daughter yesterday. She knows that I’m searching for a puppy and had good stories about getting her most recent dog. I enjoyed every minute of the chat. We live in Oregon, our daughter lives in Illinois, and our son lives in Virginia. I thank the Good Lord for inspiring someone to invent the internet.
Heather – Ringing your friend whose partner died was a wonderful thing to do. Texting her messages of love and support is brilliant. You are right, we should value those we love while we have them.
1948CWB – Your granddaughter’s art is wonderful!
Tina in CA – Congrats on a balmy 53F degree day. Enjoy every minute.
Allie - Good news from the cardiologist!
We have snow on the ground and it is lovely to see. The neighborhood heron is standing on the docks looking for a little fish to swim by. It is having no luck that I can see so far this morning.
