Morning ladies
Well i amazed myself and slept all the way through the night ,no getting up to go to restroom not once even waking up.Boy how refreshing is that.. having my tea and then off to do my duties7 -
On February 1, I went on a beautiful walk, from home, to a part of my local neighbourhood I had not visited in a while. If you go to this album, and look for the title page February 1 Walk, all the photos after that are from that walk.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72177720295497310
Sometimes we get used to travelling the same routes around our neighbourhoods. We go to the same places and see the same things. Many of those things are necessary and many are nice, but sometimes it is good to explore and see what else there is.
We can't travel, but when we find treasures like this in our own backyards, it is almost like travelling.
Just a sample ...

Hello! Haven’t been on MFP in a few months but ready to start up again. If I stick to daily logging, my weight goes down. Currently on day 4 of my new resolve. Based on past experiences, it might get tough for a bit, but if I can hang on I can shed some pounds. Thought I’d pop in- hoping for a little socialization in the process!

Lisa They are finding out more and more the importance of gut health.
I have told this story before how after getting so sick in Mexico that the month I got back I got sick with the SwineFlu and was the sickest I had ever been physically. It sent me on the road to help my gut with diet and exercise.
Yesterday I was in a terrible mood. A big part of that was not eating right the day before. What we eat can have a big impact on our health.
I finally went in for a physical after numerous years. I had had such bad experiences I did not want to go back. I had one with a physician assistant and thought it was one of the best ones I had. She was respectful of my choices and was very thorough. I needed an overall picture of how my health is and what pieces need work. For me it is my tryglycerides. Cutting my stress and changing my diet are the keys to that. I started to eat foods with added sugar again. It is a work is progress.
TIP...What works for me is eat more fiber and reduce/eliminate refined carbs and food with added sugar. Eating better quality food. The less processed the better.4 -

I awakened to a foggy morning and am enjoying my first cup of coffee. It is 7:30 am and a hummingbird is drinking sugar water at one of the bird feeders.
We have an appointment to see parent poodles on February 6 at 11am. I hope we have a good visit & eventually find a healthy puppy. This breed is new to us. Our previous Keeshonds were very sweet, but had health problems. Time will tell. Keeping my fingers crossed for finding the right dog for us.

Hi all!
Went for my 5k run this morning. Another beautiful day.
Pleased with myself for getting to the page when I wanted to do anything else. Writing about some difficult stuff. Glad I'm not 22 any more. Fifty years ago and it feels like yesterday.
Then spent some time listening to 'improving' podcasts while I rowed.
I've been bingeing on a TV series called 'Couples Therapy'. It's filmed in Manhatten, so may have been on your TV. I've now finished all 18 episodes in 3 days! I found it riveting. And helpful.
New CICO regime still going well. Virtually AF for 10 days. Weigh day next Sunday. I'm hoping for at least a pound and a half improvement since last week.

Well, I haven't done my exercise yet because I had to take my mom to the dermatologist. I wish they could arrange these things with me more than an hour ahead! She got a little skin frozen off two spots on her nose.
Next is the cardiologist on Friday, and that won't go well. Her blood pressure is way high and she keeps wanting to see her old doctor that moved. She has trouble taking medical advice from women and the new doctor is female. I can only push my mom so far.

Another cold day and glad I am working inside. Make it to the gym on the way out of work yesterday. Today my left foot is swelled up and hurting. Still plan to stop at the gym on way out from work.

Lisa ... thank you for the non-NSAID medication information. Interesting.
Kay ... thinking about you ... you are so right that this stage with our parents is so rough.
Barbara ... I am always so impressed with how intentional you are in your making time for Joe. Since my husband retired I am noting that if we don't do the same, we can go all day without really having a conversation.
Melissa from Texas/Colorado ... welcome!
January goals were to be lighter at the end of the month than at the beginning. Down 2.5 pounds. I will continue with intermittent fasting (restricted eating time). I have lost nearly 80 pounds but still have about 50 to go. MFP and CICO attributed to a large part of that. Intermittent fasting is a lifestyle change for me that is working and sustainable. Like Margaret, (thank you for thinking of me ... this will be a tough month), I find that less processed and more whole/nutritious foods make me feel better.

Have long suspected was overestimating CO. Dug out and fired up the Wahoo HRM. Mixed results. Stops recording some workouts short. Then sometimes I forget to stop/save workouts and it just keeps on ticking. The bad news is that yesterday I never got my heart rate out of the “easy” range. The good news is that today I got it to the fat burn for 2 mins and cardio for 1. The better news is that it calculates 4 cals/minute of dog walking vs mfp’s 3.5. Will keep trying to get it to record correct duration, and will keep trying to get heart rate up. :}
Machka great detective work. Welcome back to the undisappeared. “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” ROTFLMAO. Oww for the tooth split, hope you can get in right away. Could you have been clenching? Not surprising considering what you went through. Stunning pics, that’s quite a neighborhood.
Katla “…assigned other work…” ;} How old will the pups be on Feb 6? Have you seen pics? ((hugs)) and “never get cancer” amen, sister, amen! All breeds have different health issue tendencies, but a responsible breeder with a good track record is the best bet. Good luck!
KJ snow is rare, but deer are common. Me I’m pretty sure they’d leave the mail, Think it’s teenaged boys… or someone looking for financial info to steal. Brava on going without the nightly nasal spray.
So the rheumatologist backs out in favor of the gastro enterologist? And the gust/Crohn’s is more important than the Afib? But you have to go through your primary care? SMH. Glad you have the fighting spirit and intelligence to advocate for yourself. Hope you get a different gastro/pcp SOON! My DH occasionaly takes gabapentin for his nerve pain. Works but he’s concerned about side effects so he’s trying to stick with Nervive (basically high dose Alpha Lipoic Acid).
Vicki prayers for Jake and your family. ((hugs)) Well done on getting right back to the gym.
Rebecca what a retirement nightmare! ((hugs)) about your middle sister and your soon to be empty nest.
Debbie hope you get some good rest soon.
Carla in MN, which day well to the end of February? Sorry, no cabana boys to spare.
Annie I hate it when drama causes me to lose focus and burn food. ((hugs)) Can you sit down with your parents and make a family calendar of appointments?
Rita so glad to see you posting. Sounds a sound decision about the job, your time and your nerves are worth it.
Paula in Oxford con VERY grats for taking off those kgs!
Heather we are having record breaking sunshine here, too. Worrisome as we desperately need the rain water. Con VERY grats on the AF regime
Michele I’d lose the scraps of paper and never remember all I ate. I do pre-log, then make adjustments throughout the day.
Pip how many pairs of monkey feet have you run/worn through? You are an ANIMAL!
Mary I have not yet met goal, but my best tip is what you suggested earlier, buy a food scale and use it. A real education.
Julie alas we cannot simply put a padlock on a mailbox but have to install a locking mailbox that the mail carrier can access, and it would have to be large enough to accept small packages. We’ve decided to just send change of address forms to all our regular contacts to redirect to our P.O. Box. As for shredding, anything that could have sensitive information gets twisted into kindling and burned in the wood stove And yes we lock all our doors at night and even when home during the day. Bravissima for your collaborative collective work.
Welcome @SavageMrsMoose Melissa from Tx and Telluride!
Margaret so glad you’ve found a PA that is respectful and thorough. You’re so right about food and mood, and for me lack of activity makes me crabby and blue.
Beth we don’t converse much, never have, Joe’s just not chatty and his “ears get tired.” So I really have to be intentional, as you said, about just being present, showing up, being there. The reward is that sometimes he’ll even talk! Con VERY grats on taking off those 2.5 lbs! ((hugs))
Allie sending good thoughts for that biopsy Thursday. You’re about due for some lucky breaks.
Way past time to get up off my duff.

Got my 250 calories of exercise done! That's four times I've been through this yoga video and still can't remember to look for my yoga block. I think it's down there somewhere!
I did six minutes on the elliptical with a two minute break in the middle. It still tweaks my knee a bit after three minutes, but it goes right away when I stop. And I did some marching and walking to make 250 calories.
And then I ate a little bit of candy after the doctor and don't have enough calories for my salad. I'm still only four calories over, so close enough.
I'm getting used to this regime! I'm getting eager to weigh myself again!

Worked, went to Aldi. Newcomer bowling tonight.
Did the at-home sleep study, showed I do have sleep apnea. Now the MD wants a sleep titration test. Why, I’m not sure. So I’m scheduled to do it this Friday. Barbie – I’ve downloaded “Better than Before” to read there. Usually I don’t read before bed, but they want me to bring a tablet
Evelyn - I find this having to make an appointment for anything to be a pain. So far the only thing I have to make an appointment for is to go to ceramics. There was an article a while ago in the paper where the guy at the Y said that people liked the appointment. Give me a break! It’s easier for him. I find it a pain, if I find a little time to get in a workout, I can’t because I didn’t make an appointment. Fortunately, that’s not the way it is at the gym I go to.
Melissa – welcome! How does the Texas/Colorado work out? Texas in Winter and Colorado in Summer?
Well, according to Puxatawney Phil, looks like we’re in for 6 more weeks of winter. I am sooooo ready for winter to be over. Let’s hope he’s wrong
katla – hope your appointment goes well
Green Room tomorrow so I won’t get to the gym
Allie – good luck for your biopsy

Someone was asking for pics of my monkey feet. The first white w/green trim are what I’ve been using. I did two marathons in those. As you can see i have holes in them and have worn out the tread. The second tan and red ones are the same thing. I can’t run long distance in those anymore. The all black ones are my new ones. Walked 8 miles in those today, they feel great.4

Nooice Pip! My son wore those all thru high school. With his hairy legs, he looked kinda like a Hobbit.💖👍. Not saying you look like a Hobbit though, just on him...😂🙃. You're the bomb!

Yoga today was just right. I had good exercise and felt good.
I learned that one of our younger yoga friends has caught Covid. 🙁 I hope she takes care of herself. I don’t know how serious it is at this point. Sending prayers for a good outcome for her. ❤️

Melissa – welcome! How does the Texas/Colorado work out? Texas in Winter and Colorado in Summer?
NC
Hello! Thank you for the welcome! We have a ski place so kind of the opposite, in Telluride in the winter. But as I type this, I’m in Houston- hahaha! Truly try to be in Colorado as much as possible but life does get in the way.1
