Rebecca--Pray you and Lee are feeling better today. There is a lot of just plain flu going around now. Good thing is it only seems to last a day or two at the most.
Beth--Sorry to hear about the water in your basement. Hope it drys out without any mold. That is always my biggest fear.
Lisa--Glad your lung scan was clear. I understand what you mean about not being close to family. I send birthday and Christmas cards to my siblings but usually do not hear anything from them. It is sad, but that is what it is. I keep sending so the door is open, maybe someday I will feel comfortable to stop.
Allie--Sorry for the loss of your uncle.
Well it is -25 wind chill here today and so glad I work inside.

the best thing we did when we had our first dog was to get an electronic dog door. That way, she could go in and out as often as she wanted(but no critters could come in) and I didn't have to get up during the night to let her out/let her in. For some reason, I was the only one in the house that could hear her scratch on the back door(same thing when son was a newborn, dh never heard him, even with him laying right next to him)2 -

Didn’t go walking w/kirby and yogi since i knew i would slow them down and i didn’t think i. Would last 8miles. I stayed home and. Spinner instead, at least i was able to knock out 29miles out. We’ve come to the thought that this pain may be a hernia or appendix. We will c. Looked online and i don’t have all of the symptoms of an appendix issue but then again i didn’t have a lot of symptoms that go with menopause either. We’ll c what’s up. I’ve paid attention that i noticed it on the 7th of this month and has progressively gotten worse.5 -
I logged all my binge foods and it came out better than I had anticipated. Still a bit in credit. Phew!
Renewed determination for the rest of this week.
Still feeling a bit off, but progress is being made. Better than last night. Cough improving.
I've ordered all the presents for Bea and her mum as their birthdays are while we are away. Bea is mad about monkeys, as that was/is her comforter, so I've got her a t shirt with monkeys 🐒 🙈 🙊 🤣 on it. I've designed a card on my app, so will have to print it off.
My friend K has just arrived back from South Korea after a couple of months with her newborn twin grandsons. We have scheduled a phone call for Saturday morning at 11. I can't imagine how much she is missing her beloved son etc.right now.

Beth -basement woes are all you need!4 -
And it's raining heavy again today!! We're keeping an eye on the basement and so far ... fingers crossed ... so good. The snow pack isn't as thick this time around. Vicki ... it dried pretty well so far ... I worry about mold too so had fans going and moved everything that came in contact with water so it could have a dry bottom. We're going to need to address yard drainage this year. Sigh.
Annie ... keep having those conversations with your parents. Mine would only head nod and now we are in an incredible predicament. They considered a chair lift at one point too and then those plans fell apart. Truth of the matter is that by the time they considered a chair lift, they were already five years past where they should have moved out.
Conference call with my mother's skilled nursing rehab today and she is doing well, but progress is slow. She was mobile, but barely, before the fall and of course, now everything is extremely difficult. Biggest problem is upper body strength and being able to transfer weight into her arms on a walker so as not to put full weight on her leg. Keeping up the strength training ladies!!
An elderly lady from church fell Sunday and broke her shoulder. At 11:00 am this morning I got an email that she would have surgery next week to repair the shoulder. At 3:00 I got an email that she had unexpectedly died. This was (and still is to some degree but getting better) my biggest fear when I heard my mom broke her femur. Death is one of the most common results of the elderly breaking bones and needing surgery. Sad.
Lisa ... sadly, I understand completely.

My appendix pain wasn't "normal" either. I was in pain for a year before it was finally taken out ... and that was indeed the problem.
But hernia is a possibility.

Puppy potty training will be a challenge. Every puppy we’ve ever brought into our family eventually learned the “does and don’ts.” We’re both experienced puppy potty trainers. We do expect mistakes from baby dogs. 😘0

Did a Strength Training DVD today then took a walk around the parking lot. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Rept DVD.
After exercise stopped at the dollar store to get mats for the cats and a sympathy cared. Went to a store today and sold some crystal we had from MIL. Got $8. Not bad,I wasn’t even expecting that much. So I promised to give the guy this piece of Lenox that I have. First went to the church’s thrift store, then out in the sun by the pool. Stopped at Ace Hardware to get a few screws that Vince needed for the fix for the threshold.
Mailed a sympathy card for a friend of Jess’
Lisa – I’m so sorry about your brother. I always look forward to your posts. You have such a good way with words and have such an interesting life. Good luck with the blood work
Allie – so very sorry. Glad you sent him those videos, I’m sure that they made him happy
Rebecca – sometimes I have soup for breakfast so having it at 9 isn’t weird at all….at least not to me
Beth – so sorry about the lady at your church.
Vince tried and tried to hammer out to pin from the door hinge to no avail. This morning he looked at it from the outside and, sure enough, there is a set pin in it. Took that out and the pin came right out
Need to have dinner. A neighbor called & asked me to play cards at 7.

Well I ate all my calories for tonight then I kept eating. I made pork chops for my parents and I ate one instead of sticking to water. Now I will be exercising on a full stomach too. I know better. And the pork chop wasn't that great anyway. Oh well I can do better tomorrow.

I have an appointment on Friday morning4 -
Continuing to feel better and better after the goiter removal. Today wasn't great because a front moved through and activated my fibro like nobody's business. I spent a good chunk of the day in bed cause I just could not.
But I got up and did the dishes and made baked ravioli for the three of us, and that was very tasty. Then I read another book, and now I'm going to do the dinner dishes and then do the pill cases for the week, cause that's Tuesday's job. The three of us are on allll the psych meds, lol.

Thanks for the welcome back. The trip was glorious and none of us were ready to come home. We are planning a trip back already. They have wonderful food at that resort and I feared I would gain a ton of weight. We all felt like we were always eating! It was all freshly made food and there was just so much of it. I decided not to weigh myself for a while. It’s depressing enough to have to come home without getting depressed about weight. My friend gained 3 pounds. We are not eating dinner for a week or more and are eating light lunches. Hopefully, that will help.
We did quarantine for 2 weeks before we left and didn’t know until the day before (when we got PCR test results) if we were going to go. Thankfully, we all tested negative and on the plane we went. Getting a test to come back from there was a bit cumbersome, but worth it.
Allie-Sorry about your uncle.
OMICRON note - When the mister got COVID, it started like a cold. Sore throat, stuffy nose, headache. He tested 1 day after symptoms and was negative 3 times. When he tested 4 days after symptoms started, he tested positive on both PCR and Antigen tests.
The timing of the test likely matters significantly. It was like a severe cold. We kept our distance from each other and somehow, I escaped getting it. Though, another theory is that I had it and gave it to him, but didn’t notice symptoms.
Beth-What a rough time. Hugs to you.
Lisa-Yay, no lung issues. Fingers crossed on blood work results
Rebecca-Hope you’re both feeling better.
Debbie-I think men sometimes (often times) pretend they can’t hear things in the night because they are too lazy to get up and check. Plus, they know the woman will do it, if they can wait her out.
It’s a stay inside kind of day.

Just for fun, I looked up how many calories burned SCUBA diving and in tropical waters, it can be up to 300 per hour. I really want to believe that. I was under water 2 hours per day for 8 straight days.
Just trying to convince myself I didn't gain weight.
Tina in CA6 -
Annie-it really jumped out to me tonight how much your exercise has increased. Good job!
Lisa-I didn’t find your comments depressing-more just factual. Also-it’s good to know we are not alone with such situations. I hope your brother does have an easy passing-don’t blame him from saying no. Good news about your xray.
Evelyn-my husband loved hummingbirds-thanks for sharing picture.
Allie-comfort to you on uncle’s passing.
Pip-my appendix was a bit slow in acting up. Luckily got it checked before it was in danger. Hernia also sounds reasonable. Hope it isn’t too painful. Possible it could be kidney stone also.
Beth-so sad about your church member. I hear that about elderly and it is concerning to me (since at 67 I am inching closer to that group). Hope your mom continues making steady progress, even if it is slow.
Tina-I have read that the timing of tests is critical also. Thanks for the reminder. Your vacation sounds glorious. Your weight is probably better than you imagine, but any gained will come off quickly.
Well, still no sign of license. I’m just ordering a replacement on-line. Figure that way mine will show up about 5 minutes after the replacement comes.
Busy at work today with many diverse things. HR driving me crazy so I am having to nudge them on some things (not my direct department-part of overall county).
Going to dinner event for work tomorrow night. Will be at table with people I deal with regularly. I believe at the venue masking is required unless actively eating. Even if it is changed by then, that’s what I will follow.
I must say the cabbage, beef, tomato soup I made is quite tasty (forgot how much I like it). Only seasoning is the beef stock, kosher salt and by leaf but it really hit the spot tonight.
Going to go load the dishwasher gather the trash together to put out tomorrow morning and order that darned license.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Thank you all for your words. Good news/bad news on today's tests. Good news is my blood counts have improved somewhat. Bad news is that six out of ten counts were either too high or too low. Only two on the metabolic panel were off. According to my research, both of those as well as all the CBC counts may well be part of the anemia that plagues me still. I'll know more when I talk to the gastroenterologist. I don't know when that will be.
Allie - I'm so sorry about your uncle, and am so glad you've found peace with that loss.
Evie - Hummingbirds always remind me of my mother, and I guess they always will. She's been gone 23 years now, and hummingbirds still make me smile. Thank you for the picture.
Heather - Hope you feel better.
Michele - Thank you so much for the compliment.
Beth - I struggle with guilt regarding my siblings, but it helps when I remember that I resolved long ago to stop expecting anything from most people. When I stopped expecting birthday cards or even a phone call on my birthday or a holiday, it bothered me less and less as the years rolled by. Unsatisfied expectations will rot any relationship. When you no longer expect anything from them, anything they actually do is a pleasant surprise.
Sorry, I have been reading all the posts, but not enough presence of mind to reply to all the ones I wanted to. Headed for bed.
Love y'all,
Lisa6 -
Anne DE – I, too, am impressed how far you have come with your exercise.
Rebecca - watching Family Feud and the question is "where does a nudist carry their car keys". Can you answer this?????

Machka I cannot imagine tolerating appendix pain for a year. You are made of stern stuff!
Michele, I’m just glad Vince didn’t try with a “bigger hammer”
Pooped out again on taxes and minutes. Did invest over an hour filing/decluttering. Probably another hour’s worth still to do. [‘sigh]

It wasn't severe pain. But they didn't know what it was. They sent me for heaps of tests and couldn't figure it out. One doctor was convinced I was making it up for attention.
Finally a surgeon decided to take me seriously and did a general surgery ... he cut me open from my belly button down to have a look around.
Turns out it was retrocecal chronic appendicitis - the appendix was elongated and twisted back on itself. When they did the tests and caught sight of it, they only saw a tiny bit of it and it looked normal.
Unfortunately it left me with quite a scar. I will never have a flat stomach and I wear garments to kind of smooth things out.
