I miss having a dog. Our sweet old dog, Schooner, passed away 6 months ago. I miss him. I hope we will be able to get a new puppy soon. Maybe as early as June. ❤️3

Friendly February 2022
20: Make a plan to connect with others and do something fun.
21: Really listen to what people say without judging them.
Well boo. Joe urged me to look at the details of the winter storm advisory in effect from this evening through Tuesday morning. Convinced me to postpone my semiannual skin scan, with bonus TJ’s, Natural Grocers and Winco shopping. Even though I have studded snow tires and a very warm Idaho snow jacket, the poor visibility, freezing rain, and oncoming traffic on windy 199 could be a deadly combination. Disappointed, but feel I’d ignore guidance received at my peril.
Lisa fingers X’d for favorable results from cardiologist and Xrays. I’m with you on the raw tomatoes
Pip do you have a fever? Is there an urgent care nearby? If it’s your appendix, time is of the essence., but you know that.
When mine went bad, the doctor was able to persuade Papa to ok the surgery by asking “would you rather we operate first thing in the morning when we’re rested, fresh and calm? Or in the middle of the night under emergency stress?
Beth ((hugs)) frosting your pbutter cookies with chicken mixture  but yes, a sign to take some rest. ((hugs))
Debbie Kimchee stains in Tupperware?
Rebecca bon voyage and brava for choosing not to freak out and unhealthily hyperdiet.
Alexandra sounds like Boyfriend can really step up in an emergency. Well done.
Thanks Tina. Passwords changed. Welcome home.
Barbie and Machka great shopping strategies. I’m not so disciplined but do try to limit shopping to once a week and early as possible in the morning.
Michele enjoy your pickleball lesson!
Husbands and kitchens. I’m really lucky Joe cooks for himself as we eat on totally different schedules. He’s also excellent at doing dishes. Only annoyances, like KJ’s Tim, Joe is constitutionally incapable of wringing out a sponge, and likewise unable to clean out the sink strainer. While I wish we could have a garbage disposal, mostly I can cope with these, gently smiling.
Monday will be rainy and cold. Perfect day to stay cozy and warm inside, like Katla. Will write up the board meeting minutes and set Barbie’s 15 minute tax timer.
Lighter, lovelies!

No fever atall1 -
The cleaners are here so my dad decided to go nap on the couch in the basement in the middle of my exercise area. No elliptical yoga or marching yet! Maybe I can do it later if I can get the groceries done sooner. Mostly I'm glad not to be alone during the pandemic but there are times when living together is inconvenient.

We have just enough snow this morning to be pretty and entertain the dogs and not enough to cause any problems.5

Heather--Sounds like a really nasty storm. Glad you are okay. It is to get cold here next couple days with windchill -30. Crazy as yesterday was in the mid 60's and today 40's. Never remember a winter like this. Hope all went well with your visitors, menu sounds yummy!
Allie--What a nice thing for your Uncle. I am sure it means a lot to him. Great picture of your dad and Uncle.
KJ--Thanks for posting the picture for Allie. I do think this changing weather is making me feel achy also. I do wish we could get some rain as it is so dry and things are drying up. I can not remember a year where we have only one little snow and it only lasted a day or two and was less than an inch. Not good for the farmers this Spring.
Pip--Hope you are feeling better soon. Know you have to be in a lot of pain to keep you off the bike. Sending prayers and hugs.
Alexandra--Baby steps, don't over due.
Lisa--I cook our bacon in the oven. Learned that when we used to help make breakfast at the Eagle's club, many years ago. It saves the mess and can be as crunchy at you want.
Beth--Prayers and hugs!
Michele--DH was watching the race and I did hear at the beginning that it was a sell out.
We usually do our shopping for the week after church on Sundays. Most the time we do not have to shop during the week, but DH gets his coffee every morning at HYVEE so he may pick something up if needed. Yesterday we stocked up on vegetalbles as DH plans to put a stew in the crockpot in the morning before he goes to work, with the weather getting so cold will be good and it usually makes enough for several days.
Friday night I had a major melt down. I can not explain it, but I was mad and not a nice person. Was to go out for supper with our motorcycle group, but I sent DH by himself as I was not fit to be around people and to be honest I am not sure I would of been nice. Did a lot of praying and thinking and doing better today. So much stress at work and I have to figure out a way to let it go when I leave work and not take it out on others (DH). Also my birthday has never bothered me before but turning 65 a week from this Wednesday has gotten me upset. This too shall pass.

Started our walk by mile 1.3 pain was there, had to turn back and let kirby continue. Forgot to bring the keys with me so I’m sitting on my front patio waiting for him to come home, at least it’s a 5mi walk today. I don’t hurt much now that I’m sitting down. Made a doc app, go this Friday. I usually walk to there but I think I’ll drive this time. When he gets home I’m see if I can get on the bike7

I'm not feeling great today, but part of that is the period and I don't think anyone feels great when having cramps. My goal for today is making lunch and making dinner and cleaning up afterwards, and as dinner is just chicken marsala, that won't be hard. Lunch was quesadillas, and Girlfriend watched me so I know she knows how it's done. We're deliberately cross-training everyone because Boyfriend is going to have surgery this year to help with his sleep apnea, and I plan that breast reduction late this year/early next. So everyone else needs to learn how to cook what I cook, as we have food allergies and can't just live on takeout.5

LisaInArkansas wrote: »Beth - OK, the peanut butter cookie chicken frosting was funny. I found myself putting a dishwasher tablet in the Keurig for Corey's morning coffee fix instead of a coffee pod. Barely stopped in time. Absent-minded. Which, if you think about it, absent-minded means your mind has gone walkabout. Good description.
The worst/funniest absent minded thing I can remember is turning on the coffee maker with OUT the cup under it- wondered why the counter was a mess.
Worst one not in the kitchen was while the triplets were younger. It had been a really long day(very little sleep). They were getting really loud. I picked up the tv remote control, hit MUTE button, and for a second, couldn't understand why it didn't work ON THEM. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a remote like that.

Hoping the rain comes down this way. We haven't had any in too long- Had to start watering my plants in the barrels already.
The weather report shows showers here but it is sunny, beautiful and cool/cold here now.
Got my friends pets and mine all taken care of this morning- a total of at least 16 cats and one big dog.-
I will go take care of hers again tonight then they will be home tomorrow. They left Thursday to go to Vegas where their daughter is going to school for her 21st birthday.
Have my daycare girl all day today as there is no school
Zumba tonight- looking forward to it. We are trying to find more people for the class. There are only four of us plus the teacher most nights- sometimes one other lady, other nights, even less.

Had a long call with L who lost her partner. She rang me up crying because the sunny weather was reminding her of how much the two of them loved to sit on their patio. All the flowers coming up were ones he planted.
I just listened. She has things planned to see friends and has booked flights to Portugal to visit friends there in March.
Strangely, after she rang off my phone flashed up again with a jingly tone and her photo. She answered, but had not phoned me! Apparently she had gone indoors and said out loud, "Heather is so nice! Much better than that A..." Clearly, Google had heard her and phoned me!
We had a good laugh! A is a mutual uni friend. She is inclined to have 'spiritual ' answers that can p... you off. Like, maybe it was 'meant' that the two sisters' partners died at the same time.
Still feeling under par. Hope for better tomorrow.
Bea pick up day tomorrow. I hope my ankle will hold up.
Carol - It’s never too late. These last couple of years are the best years of my life.

Kirby went to the gym, I’m home, feel bad for not going with him. Still going to try the bike to see if I can.4

Sometimes (most times) that’s the best you can do is just listen. I don’t know how many responses I got after Lenny passed that got me so pissed.

Well yesterday was interesting. Lee had an apple then lunch, and his lunch was a bowl of Pizza Bites. So I am thinking the apple first then the spicy upset his stomach. He never really informed me how he was feeling, so I made dinner which was biscuits and gravy. I have to admit I knocked it out of the park. I had made BLTT's for my lunch, (bacon, lettuce turkey, tomato) because I needed to fry up the rest of the bacon. I used half of the bacon, cutting it up, and tossed it in a bit of flour. He only ate a couple bites, and went to bed at 7:30 pm. When I sent go bed at 9:30 pm he got sick, which he said he felt better. He slept fairly well, but its been awhile since I have been "on alert" like that. He woke up this morning and was sick again, but its now 11 am and he's said he feels so much better. This morning he had a good nap and so that's good. Then to make life more interesting, my vertigo made its presence known, but the relief is that its only when I am in bed. Its interesting that because he has had so much down his throat, that his gag reflex is pretty strong. He can easily cough himself into being sick. We talked this morning and he doesn't remember being on a breathing machine after his transplant. I think that changes you permanently you know? Anyway, we are both a little fragile!

Wrote a long rant and lost it, which is probably a sign. The trip to the cardiologists was not useful. More lab tests in my future.

Barbie ... I've always been one to plan my shopping trips usually due to watching the budget. As gas prices rise, I'm mapping out the routes we go as well. Feel like I'm being a good steward of our money that way even when no one else in the house seems to care .. but that's another story.
Today, after receiving our electric bill for the month, I asked my husband to sit down with me and see what the heck happened. We're on balanced billing (the year's anticipated costs spread out over 12 months ... kind of) and we are at the reconciling month. Still the amount seemed enormous to me and the next year's balanced billing is set to go up by $27 a month. So we did some digging and read the fine print on the back of the bills that people generally ignore. Electric rates in my area have skyrocketed. In January of last year the price per kilowatt hour was $0.03. Today's bill the price per kilowatt hour was $0.13.
I don't think I shared with you all that in the midst of dealing with my parents we had significant flooding of our basement on Thursday. Heavy rains with snow melt ended up coming into the house through the ash removal system of our fireplace. That's never happened before. The side yard was a mess, several inches deep with slush and rain. Husband and son spent hours trying to shovel snow and redirect water to a front ditch and then placed pool pumps by the side of the house and tried to move that water to the ditch as well. Fortunately most of our belongings are on pallets in the basement or in plastic bins so not much lost. Just hate that damp smell. I've got fans running and we opened up all the furnace vents in the basement to push heat down there as well.

Afternoon ladies
Well a friend of mine gave me one of those 4 wheeled walker with a seat and i gifted ut to dear Lil upstairs.she was thrilled.. love that i can make someone happy and it didnt cost me anything.. Lil had a regular walker with tennis balls and now wuth this she says she has a Cadillac lol5 -
Barbie: I watched as much Olympic figure skating as I could find on BBC. I’ve always been an organised, regular shopper, with my own standardised tick list. It saves so much time.2

DH is asleep upstairs at 3 o’clock this afternoon. I plan to wake him up so we can get Rx tax information from the pharmacy.

Beth so sorry about your flooding in the midst of everything else. When it rains, it pours! Hope things get easier soon.

Good evening all:
I have been reading along the last couple of days-just not talkative.
Pip-hope they can figure out what is bothering you. Sounds puzzling.
Allie-keep an eye on your cold. I have heard from many that is exactly how Omicron feels.
Alexandra-glad you are recovering from the thyroid surgery. Did they have to remove any of your thyroid or just the goiter? That thing does sound like it was huge.
Lisa-I understand you with Doctor's visits. I have had several over the years that were a waste of time.
My major excitements are 1. I can't find my driver's license. I do take it out of purse and put in jacket when I go walking-it isn't in any of my coats. Have torn up the house (got lots of vacuuming done while I had furniture pulled out!). Hoping it is in my office at work. If not, I will order replacement on line. Since we are off work today, need to wait until tomorrow (I didn't feel like going in today, turning off building security to check for something persona-and with my luck I would screw up the codes and the maintenance staff and police would be called in!)
Excitement 2. I broke part of a crown last Wednesday (popcorn). I couldn't remember if the tooth had a crown or not. Told them when I called that it was missing enamel. Evidently the type of crown it is (in addition to being old), has a metal frame that is covered with the porcelain. Evidently this type is prone to cracking. They have a newer way of making them that doesn't break the same. They basically put a patch on it since much of the crown was still in tact and it was seated well. Said this will buy me time.
Off to put away the pot of soup I made and get ready for work tomorrow. It was gorgeous outside today but rain is moving in and temperatures will drop again. At least spring is on the way.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio5 -
Allie - Your gift of a four wheeled walker to a neighbor is wonderful. It will be an enormous help to her being able to get around. You are an excellent friend.

Did a step DVD today. I can’t figure out if it’s that I haven’t been exercising regularly so I’m out of shape or if I’m just not used to the humidity down here, but I seemed to be getting out of breath a lot. Anyway, the plan for tomorrow is to do an extreme strength DVD
After exercise came home and started to make cookies for Vince and put two loads of laundry in. Then went to see a space launch out in our backyard. I’m still amazed how long it takes for you to hear the sonic boom. Even tho I know it’s coming. Went to the pool then got a new battery for my car since for the second time it died and had to be jump started. Then went to WalMart, then Lowe’s hardware, then stopped at Aldi.
Thought the pickleball was quite interesting. But I couldn’t stay real long since Vince needed help with moving the TV and other furniture. We got new nightstands and a bureau for our bedroom. Nothing real fancy. But I do want to make this more of “our” condo rather than “Vince’s mother’s”. All in good time….. Went out by the pool (mmmmmmm)
Lisa – you know what your dishwasher tablet in the Keurig (almost) reminded me of? That part in the movie “9 to 5” where she puts the Skinny Sweet in the boss’ coffee (or she thinks she did)
Vicki – I like the bacon in the oven, too. Vince likes it in the microwave but I prefer the oven, especially since you can cook so many more pieces at one time. Happy early birthday
Beth – we used to get water in the basement of our first home. It was a major pain in the backside, so I really sympathize with you.
Ginny – I hope you find your driver’s license real fast. Glad they were able to take care of your crown
Michele in FL
