Hey everyone. Read most of them but then I forget who I want to respond to. Someone talked about not being a fan of tracking. 20 years ago I wrote a program to track my calories eaten and calories burned (I am/was a developer). As time went on I had a huge database of foods and their nutritional values saved. For many years anytime I gained weight my husband would remind me to "use my program." We both knew unless I tracked ever bite I wasn't going to lose weight. Then suddenly myfitnesspal came to be and I realized it did everything mine did and more (people had told me I should have marketed mine.)
Today was warm here in Northern Illinois so I was able to get out and ride. Thought I'd share a couple of pictures.

There's got to be an easier way to do this on my phone. I've lost my replies a half dozen times; if you @ mentioned me and my reply isn't below, I apologize. I finally opened up a note app and wrote my replies there. It's been a long time since I wrote in bb code.
Luanne- welcome, and congrats on your weight loss with Noom, and best of luck with the next goal. I'm also a fan of baking sourdough, and have had to back off on bread making because it was just too much temptation. Lays has nothing on fresh baked bread!
Carla- thank you for the congrats. I've been on MFP since 2012, reached my goal and regained twice since then, but this is the first time I'd logged in faithfully for a year.
Lisa- thanks for the newbie advice. I hope your corn dog was derishus - I love them, too.
Vicki- thank you for the welcome, and best of luck with your office remodel.
Terri- you make a great point about maintenance tracking actually being a reassurance, helping you relax, because you can easily remediate if you drift upwards.
Ginny- I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and in 2013 it had reached a point where I could barely walk without excruciating pain. My podiatrist ordered hard orthotics and they're one of the best things I've ever done. They're currently in my shoes on my feet, and today I can beon my feet for hours without pain. It took a year before my feet healed enough that I could wear anything but tennis shoes. But they're worth every moment of it.
Cheryl- beautiful horses, and agreed: if I don't track, I don't lose.

Today I went looking through clothing boxes for a pair of jeans to hang on the wall in my bedroom, a size down from where I'm at now, as motivation to keep losing weight. Jeans are really hard for me to fit (34 inch inseam, bubble butt, pear shape). I know Levi's 515 boot cut fit me really well, and there's a couple pairs of those in the boxes somewhere. Yes, there were... 3 sizes smaller than I am currently.
So, I went to Goodwill and yesssssss they had a pair in my size! They're currently gracing my ample derriere, haha. I also found a cute sleeveless tunic in my best color, turquoise.
After work, took hubby on a date: 9 holes of disc golf before the sun went down, and then out to Mexican (he won the game, so he got to choose the cuisine).

Barbara - walking in place has been what I’ve been doing to heal my hip.
It’s getting there. A lot less painful days now. Still quite sore in the evenings though.
Ginny - I hope you get your feet looked at soon and you get better advice.
Lisa - out of curiosity I asked my daughter how tall my Grands are. Jonah is 10 and 4’7”. Michaela is 6 and 4ft exactly. Jonah takes after his Dads side for height, Michaela takes after our side.
Kaitlyn her Aunt is 5’10” and has been since she was about 17.
Charlene - I am exactly the same. I weigh everyday and every time I stop tracking I start gaining. I need to put attention to my trends again too.
Heather - I use the one in one out tule too. Actually I also will just look at my closet and say to myself. I don’t think I’ll wear that again and put it in a bag I keep for donating. I need hubby to do that.
Rebecca - great ideas for Allie’s Carmine. I used to write letters, pages and pages and then burn them. It always helped me get my feelings out.
Vicki - sounds like a big headache to get some relief in a new space.
Terri - I haven’t been able to post a picture for quite a few days either.
We managed to get two more problems fixed in the payroll system today!
I have to share a story. It’s a bit long so I’ll put it in a spoiler.A month ago Kaitlyn was here and she was anxious because while she has been out sick from work her Supervisor gave her notice and the department Kaitkyn worked in was sent out to a third party. She was sure that when she went to work she would be given her layoff notice. I had told her to wait and see what happened before she got herself all worked up, who knows she might end up in a different department and a better position.
When she returned to work she was put in a new department with a new Supervisor and she was told that there were two supervisors fighting over her and HR had to decide he got her.
This of course made her a little cocky and she thought she should do request a raise and a promotion.
I told her she should wait a couple weeks to see what happened. Let her new supervisor get to know her and then maybe think about a raise.
A couple of weeks later she texted me a picture of a letter that was confirming she was getting a raise. She again thought she should be promoted. I again told her to wait. I told her the manager in me was saying hold off, let the shake up settle and then see how things sit. The Mother in me was of course, screaming “you get em Baby you can can do this”.
Tonight I received a text it simply said “you were right” the picture attached was giving her a promotion and another raise.

Tracy — We were able to get DH to the local clinic and is in better circumstances because of the visit. DD & I were impressed with the doctor. Our niece, Diana stopped by later in the day & we had a delightful time. DD & Diana brought us take out lunch. DH had Thai & we girls had Mexican food. It is 11:42 pm now and we are ready for sleep.5

Tracey - Great story! Congratulations to your daughter.
I slept upstairs last night as I had a ticklish cough. Actually I just wanted to read a bit longer and have some space. I woke up early, burning to write the ending of my current chapter about the old lover/friend who now has Parkinsons and Alzheimers. I very, very rarely write outside my normal schedule, but I really felt the need and I am going out for lunch today, so not able to write as normal. So, I put something down on my tablet! It felt so good to get 400 + words done before breakfast!
I track every day and have done for nine and a half years. Apart from long holidays. I take a lot of shortcuts, like Quick Add, but it keeps me from going right off the rails. I am currently losing at about one pound a week, by contriving a big CICO deficit. I do that by a lot of exercise.
Yes, I hope you are OK, Katla, and hubby.

You've got to keep your phone very still. If you move your phone, you'll lose your reply.
But you don't have to write in bb code ... unless you want to.
I use it for bold, italics and colour.
I like this site: https://www.color-hex.com/ and from it I can pick colours for text.

Charlene-thanks for encouragement. I had orthotics years ago-feet felt better, stopped using. Am hopeful for relatively easy fix.
Tracey-congratulations on DD raise and promotion. I totally understand the two conversations you had (manager and mom!)
BBCode-wouldn't know how to go about it-usually start posts in word.
Daily tracking is a must for me. Even if it is not 100%, it is my reminder and does help keep things in check. The same with daily weigh in. While quit smoking and holidays is coming off slowly, it is moving. I have not added every bite of the non-smoking munchies but I have a fair idea!
Need to stretch before work. Driving to another county for a meeting this am, back for a pm meeting at my office, then off to work food pantry at the church. Supposed to be a beautiful day!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

So busy this week!!
Last couple nights I've had about 6 hours of sleep because I've been that busy with work and personal stuff. Lots of meetings and tight deadlines. It's almost 10 pm and I think I've got most things ready for 2 important meetings tomorrow.
I'm hoping to get a little bit more sleep tonight. And I'm looking forward to the weekend!
I did get out for a quick 45 minute walk in the middle of the day today. It was just too nice to stay in and I needed to get the blood flowing.

Hello, my dears,
Hope all is as well as it can be in your world. I'm in my happy place, bread rising for its first proof, washer whooshing, dishwasher also burbling. Was up early enough to make Corey's lunch and wave him off to work, which makes us both happy.
On the subject of tracking, I'm disconnected from it at the moment. My body is not absorbing calories correctly at all, evidenced by the fact that I can eat like a little piglet and watching the scale drop 9 pounds in a week and a half. Then I'll gain a pound a day for nine or ten days eating the exact same thing. It cycles back and forth because my gut is just not right. That's why the doctor visits etc.
A little history - read at your own risk. The days when I'm dropping weight while eating everything I want are great, even though I know it's not a good thing, because it means my body isn't getting the nutrition it needs. But after dieting since I was 16 and a gastric bypass when I was 45, it is just completely impossible to be upset over weight loss, however it happens.
I was 303 pounds when I had the gastric bypass in 2005, pre-diabetic, bone spurs in my feet, knees that were bone on bone, and a smoker. I promised myself that if I was going to risk my life by having the surgery, then I needed to change my way of thinking about food as a drug that made me feel better. When I was at my highest, I had waiters tell me that I was a completely different person than the one who sat down at the table.
Currently, I weigh 172, more than 130 pounds less than I did in 2005.
Once I had the surgery, I had to develop coping tools that didn't center around food. When I could only eat two tablespoons of anything for weeks on end, I couldn't use my old drug of overeating in order to cope. I see it so often on here (and everywhere people are honest), "I ate my feelings," or "I am so stressed out that I'm eating everything." I get it, and it was no small part of how I got to weigh over 300 pounds.
I'm 5'2", and I was literally bigger around than I was tall. I said all that to say this - figure out what other coping tools you have, whether that's tracking, exercise, riding, painting, writing, conversations with your BFF. Whatever works for you. When I stopped using food to make me feel better, and change my perception to that of food as fuel, it was a lot easier to cope.
Note: This is my experience and is not necessarily everyone's. Heather has a different, absolutely valid point of view on food.
OK, stepping down off my soapbox.
Had to go away for a few to get the dough shaped and on its second rise. Just dawn here in Arkansas. As soon as I get the bread baked, I have to go to town to Hobby Lobby and get a couple things...
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa
ETA: While I was shaping the bread, Egg brought a baby snake into the house. Talk about adrenaline! I captured it in a plastic container and will take it out to the treeline and fling it. Don't want it to die, but don't want it in my house, either.5 -
Accountability:Chose well: Joe, readings, BP, dogs to power line, CI<CO, CI<250<CO,
Bonus: veg prep Just one thing: bupkes
Workin’ on it: 142.2, H20x4, active 2:57
Mindful March
17: Look around and spot 3 things you find unusual and pleasant.
Happy St. Patrick’s day to one and all!
Knee wobbled on way down to power line despite brace, walking stick and taking it s l o o w. Canceled Wednesday’s dog group and Thursday am stroll/walk to rest leg. Hope it will be strong enough for girls’ road/shopping trip Friday. The good news is that Joe continues to up his activity. He took the dogs down to the power line yesterday afternoon, and plans to take both to Crissey Field this morning before doing some post-mole lawn restoration.
Julie ((hugs)) Sounds like you need rest more than social connection. ((hugs))
Machka thanks for your concern, DVT-sister-from-another-mother. Brava for taking the time to take care of you!
Ginny sure hope the new podiatrist has a better point of view. When feet hurt, everything hurts. Con VERY grats for keeping smoke-free!
Lisa your “…Smashing things, though, goes too far. Violence is never the answer…” to Allie is so insightful. Someone suggested Kyle may need anger management refresher as part of the family counseling package and I agree. Thankful you were able to sleep, to knit the raveled sleave . . . no wonder you procrastinate about making those phone calls, how frustrating!!! S-s-snake?!? Eesh!
Terri, thanks! Others have reported trouble uploading photos. Are you using your phone or a laptop? The app or the website?
Charlene Happy daily log in anniversary! I’m also terrible at estimating portions. The food scale is my friend. It used to annoy Joe but he’d gotten used to me weighing EVERYTHING
Alexandra
Heather like the concept of walking back the cat. Will borrow. Tissue paper in Johnny’s slippers made me LOL!
Welcome @LuannLizabeth Luanne in VA! Some here don’t do the “friend” thing, some do. What Carla said “it’s all good” includes skimming as we are chatty group. Congrats on maintenance.
Allie ((hugs)) for you and Homer. Sounds like music could be the charm that soothes the teenage breast. . . Big THANKS for the honest person who found your phone and turned it in. Whew!
Annie thanks! Hooray for 58 mins yoga!
Rita starting with myself is the only way to change. Prayers for a favorable and relatively pain free mammo, and a good video chat with your DS.
Rebecca, all the strategies you shared for communication and healing are right on! Even sitting side by side in the car can be less confrontational, less likely to cause defensiveness, than face-to-face. Bravissima!
Betsy hope your eyes recover their focus soon.
Vicki ((hugs)) sorry to hear about your pug.
Cheryl great pics!
Tracey attagal mom! Hooray for Kaitlyn!!!
Katla thanks for the update. So grateful your DD and niece are there, and that the local clinic was able to improve DH’s circumstances.
Could antibiotics be kicking in after only one day? Leg much less swollen this morning. Will keep walking and elevating…
Erin go Bragh!
Later, Lighter, lovelies!

Yep!!! I was just venting about problems I was having with MFP lol
They’ve been ‘improving’ the site again, and I kept getting kicked out every time I posted, then having to log in again.
Nothing to do with anyone in our group.

Charlene: I found goodwill was a godsend as I lost weight. We have one with quite good quality stock nearby. I would buy each new smaller size as I moved down and donate the bigger sizes at the same time.

@ginnytez and @cattherien I had chronic plantar fasciitis for many years after running a marathon in 1989. A sports orthopedist made special inserts for my shoes. I had physical therapy. I rested. I bought orthopedic shoes. I taped my feet. Everything helped a little bit for awhile, but it kept coming back.
Then someone recommended the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. I found my problem in there, found out that plantar fasciitis is referred pain, did the massages faithfully. That was around 15 years ago and I have not had a problem since!

Drive the hour for the mamo and found 2 problems when I got there. They had changed my appointment from 11:30 to 1 pm and they didn’t have the order! So called the ordering doc and god the order faxed. But still had to wait.
I was good and am proud of myself! Found a park nearby and walked for half-hour then went to Wendy’s and had a salad. I still made it back to hospital just in time for appointment. Didn’t go shopping or simply play on phone. I was pleased with my choices. Calories under again today. That’s 2 in a row. On a roll!

I used to paint 4 leaf clovers on all my 5th graders that wanted them so they would not get pinched on this day...LOL

Katla - Glad to hear that the clinic was able to help. Takeout sounds great!
Had a very nice lunch with G. I had a calorie friendly time of it. Three oysters and three small scallops. One medium glass of white wine. Espresso coffee.
G went to Habitat afterwards and bought a sofa and a rug. She is really quite crazy. Then she went off for an exorbitantly expensive haircut. Oh well. Her son sends her money for her birthday once a year, so she is in a hurry to spend it. I can’t talk, with my hugely expensive cruises!
The sun is shining! Spring!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Allie--Glad someone honest found your phone and turned it in. There are more honest people out in the world then we realize.
Cheryl--Beautiful day for a ride, thanks for sharing, Beautiful horse.
Rainy day here and God knows we need it. So far not much, but lots of clouds moving in. I am working late today.

Terri- Goodwill/ thrift shops: yes, I do the same with sizing down, so much cheaper for temporary sizing. Though this time I'm keeping my larger sized clothes, because giving them away last time resulted in 3 things: A, I gave away really cute clothes. B, giving away the larger sizes wasn't enough of a deterrent for me from regaining the weight. C, I had to reinvest money in practically a new wardrobe every time I went up a couple sizes.
All that being said though, I prefer to reward myself with clothes than food when I have a success. So there's that.
Luanne - wow thanks for sharing about your feet and the book listing.
RVRita -way to go in those coping skills! You dealt with frustration and unmet expectations really well. HUZZAH!
Jane- great job on your lunch choices, sounds delish.

I had a 5 ounce gain this morning, but I was over mt calorie limit yesterday. 'Tis okay, date night with hubby was totally worth it.
Today: Home from work, had some lunch, I need to go out and do yard cleanup. I definitely don't wanna. Ugh. Sticks and leaves aren't nearly as much fun as seeds, bulbs and flower 6-packs. But, if I do the former, tonight I'll go to the home improvement store and reward myself with the latter. Beautiful spring day in Central Illinois, 70 degrees today. But rain tomorrow, up to half an inch, and those leaves will make a big mess if I don't get them up. Plus we're likely to have one or two snows before spring is fully engaged.

Been reading but not commenting.
Still sick but finally turning a corner. Last night was the first night in almost two weeks that I didn't wake up multiple times during the night coughing/wheezing. Woke up when dh was getting ready for work at 1AM, when son was getting ready at 4:30AM and again when dh came home at 7:15AM. Was able to go back to sleep each time.
Still doing 3-4 breathing treatments every day. Stocked up on meds so will keep doing this for at least another week.
Missed Zumba this week plus last Wed. Hoping to go back Monday but will wait and see.
Haven't weighed or tracked my food for the past two weeks. Will get back on it Sunday.
I know I am not eating all my calories- Haven't felt like eating much and not like cooking at all. I did cook some pulled pork last night- had a little bowl of that with some bread and butter pickles. Steamed 4 small yellow potatoes w/butter/sourcream on them for lunch.- that was it for the day
Tonight is corned beef and either cabbage or cauliflower. Cooked the corned beef last night in the pressure cooker(after cooking the pork in it). I like to cook it the night before so it slices a lot better- I want super thin slices. The guys will eat theirs as a sandwich, skipping the veggies. I want lots of veggies and a little corned beef.
Going to a couple grocery stores when dh wakes up- Smart and Final has pineapple $1.50 each(they were out of them yesterday, the first day of the sale so hopefully they will have them today) then the Mexican grocery store- small mango 3/$1. Will see what other veggies they have. I need to also see what is in the fridge that is still good-I am sure some need to be dumped- not cooking for almost 2 weeks, might need to dump most of it- don't even remember what is in there.
Have a wonderful day ladies.
