The documentary Joe invited me to watch was a David Attenborough narrated special on hummingbirds. Gloriously gorgeous. Katla, what kind of feeder do you recommend? Joe wants to put one up. Glad the firefighters helped. Healing vibes to your DH and strength to you.

Lovely l o o o n g stroll/chat with T around the port and above Sporthaven beach. Don’t know if they’re sea lions or seals but there are so many of them on the Coast Guard dock that its sinking, weighed down into the water. A local fisherman said they come in following the herring and salmon, and to shelter from the orcas. Their constant barking has disturbed his sleep. He’s wishing for a pod of orcas to swoop in and thin the herd.

Barbie I almost woke Joe up, laughing so loud at that “last piece” cartoon. Thanks for your encouragement for me to do what I know what’s right for us. Brava for taking a moment to calm yourself. Joe is dis-inviting our moles/gophers/whatever with ammonia, mothballs, and draining the hot tub into their tunnels. Fingers Xd.

Pip the pic of what we here call “Kissy, kissy!” Happens to Joe every morning. Machka great WHO graphics. I believe that in addition to air flow, being outside in sunlight (vit D) is enormously beneficial, despite the increased skin cancer risk.

Re: Blood clots. When the ER doc told me I’d have to self inject for my blod clots, I had a melt down. Sobbed to the nurse that if the choice was self injection or die, I was afraid I’d just die. He found another doctor with a better bedside manner who hospitalized me for the first 3 days with the IV medicine, then prescribed Xarelto, a pill not a poke. Eternally grateful.

Heading off to Medford (a 3+ hour drive) tomorrow for semi-annual skin scan and shopping marathon (Winco, Walmart, See’s, Natural Grocers, Trader Joe’s.) Plan to stop every hour, walk around for 5 minutes and do the Shanghai Hospital arm swinging exercise. There’s been edema in both ankles off and on for the past week that scares me as that was the first sign of the clots after our hell move, (2 long days’ driving). Also a new, sharp, intense knee pain when flexing and putting weight on. Ice, aspirin and Voltaren seem to have calmed it for now. Fingers Xd.

Inspired by you all, prepped some raw veggies to eat when I take the last of today’s supplements. Then hope to sleep a bit before getting up at Allie’s butt crack of dawn tomorrow. Depending on what happens at the skin doc, I may spend the night,

Barbara - We bought Perky-Pet Window Mounted Bird Feeders. DH ordered them from Amazon in packages of 2. This was not a first time purchase. We have three in use now. 2 are favorites of the birds and one doesn’t get much action. We attach them on windows with a suction cup. Three are currently in use on three separate windows. We love the birds and the feeders. The birds are here all year around and in all weather. Our birds are Annas Hummingbirds.

Masks can be a bit challenging. Since mid-December, when I've worked in the office I've had to wear one for approx. 10-11 hours a day. I've worked in the office approx. 2 weeks out of 3.

I've found that surgical masks are quite easy to breathe through, but there something about where the metal nose bit is that irritates the top of my nose. I can wear one for a couple days in a row, but then I've got to change to cloth masks for a day or two.

I have a collection of cloth masks and certain ones are better than others.

As for fogging, larger glasses are better. Pull the mask quite high on the nose and wear the glasses over the masks. Small glasses are difficult to wear over the masks properly.

I've also had to talk louder than I usually do and I scrunch my eyes when I'm smiling behind the mask.

I kind of like wearing a mask in public ... the public can't see my face! I can make faces at people!

$1 Australian = $0.73 US. So I think the formula is ($2.15 × 4) ÷ 0.73 = $6.25 or so.

Went to Latin Study group this morning. Much reduced numbers, just seven of us, well spaced out. It was good to meet up with friends again.

Allie: I hope Carmine gets the help they need.
Rita: It must be so difficult to have to deal with this on top of everything else. I hope that your son also gets the help he needs.

Family relationships can be fraught, at times, and children, whatever age they are, often strike out at their nearest and dearest when in turmoil. (((Hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those of us who are living through one of those times.

Morning, afternoon and evening all,

Oh my stars and whiskers, I am such a procrastinator. "Anything worth doing is worth postponing !" I seriously want that sentence on a T-shirt. Maybe I'll find one tomorrow. Or next week.

So... our daughter and grandkids will be here somewhere around noon - unfortunately, they're calling for snow and wintry mix for her entire six-hour journey. I've seen her driving, and she's one of the best drivers I know - but other people who are not good drivers abound.

To keep me from worrywarting about their journey, I've got fresh bread on its second rise, dishwasher cooling down so I can put the dishes away soon, and the bowls and cups and measuring spoons used for making bread are waiting to be put in. First load of laundry is done... only two more to go.

Now I get to dive back into getting my office to the point where I can move it all around. Kelsey's already said she'll help, and I'll need her for toting boxes and moving furniture around. I'm almost done with getting the paperwork either shredded or filed, and then clearing every flat surface that I've cluttered beyond belief.

My stamina is not what it once was, but the mornings are pretty good. Can't wait to see if Tyler is now taller than me at 11 years old , and six-year-old Haley, who cried as if her heart would break when they said goodbye the last time they were here. Not to mention the two-year-old wrecking ball that is Levi.

But first - food! I'm starving.

Barbara ... safe travels today. Do you have compression stockings or socks for long drives?

Blood Thinners ... as luck would have it, I received a call from my mom's skilled rehab facility yesterday that she has developed a DVT in her leg since the femur break. She's being put on Eliquis. My leg break in August also resulted in a blood clot that was heading into a deep vein but never quite made it ... I was put on Xarelto, but have just discontinued. Over the years, I have had significant DVT after an ankle break (5 of the 7 veins) that resulted in IVs while in the hospital and then coumadin and blood tests. That took years to recover from. When pregnant with my second son, I had to give myself shots as the oral medications at that time were dangerous to babies and we were concerned about developing new clots. None of it's fun, that's for sure.

Today is physical therapy and getting ready for another trip out to my parents this weekend. It's supposed to snow this evening into Sunday, but we're not leaving until later.

Allie--tough love is not easy, but needed. Sounds like they have a good plan and I pray it helps and they stick to it.

Katla--Glad the firemen were able to get DH in bed. Prayers for both of you.

Lisa--Hope you have a good visit with DD and her family. I love my DGC and when they visit, then I am ready for a nap when they leave.

I am so glad it is Friday. I am giving blood this morning and I know they are really short on supply, but the Red Cross has called everyday this week, even though I have had this appointment longer than that. Anyway I pray it goes well and I am able to give. Last couple times I have tried my count we too low. But taking all the meds and maybe this time it will work. I have been to the gym 3 days this week and not sure about today, depends on how I feel after giving blood.

No big plans for the weekend besides church on Sunday. Am meeting a friend in the morning for breakfast, first time we have gotten together in over a year.

Did I tell you I bought a sewing machine, just a basic one. Well last evening I was working on the baby blankets I am making and came time to fill the bobbin. I got it done, but can not get it back into the machine to work. I finally put it away as was getting so upset. So I have the book at work today and going to read it and see what the problem is. How hard can it be, right??

Katla, wondering where you live and if you have problems with the suction cups "sticking". We're in MN and obviously the cold wreaks havoc in the winter, but I've even had problems in the summer with them not sticking for the duration of the season. I was so disappointed.

Hello ladies! I did my dumbbells last night. Yay! Today I did my 45 mins of yoga, 8 mins of elliptical, and 6 mins of marching.Yay! One of the yoga videos was short, but it was all abs. That ought to count double! I did it because my shoulder had a sore spot but now my lower back is sore. I need to pay more attention to tensing my belly to support my back, or however that works.

minicooper 452 — We live in NW Oregon beside the Columbia River. The climate here is relatively mild. We have ice or snow some winters but not others.
🌸 We don’t have problems with suction cups. They stick to our windows and enjoy window heat in winter.
🌺I have sometimes brought feeders inside to thaw during cold weather & taken them back outside when they are liquid again. The suction cups stay outside on the windows. We only use feeders on ground floor windows.
🌼 A nearby neighbor hangs their feeders from their second story balcony. They have two feeders and rotate them inside to thaw in winter.
🌹 I have learned that some hummingbirds migrate every year. Our Annas Hummingbirds are here all year around.
