Carmine- things are just not going well at all..
End of the school year is coming up and Kyle's insurance does not have mental health coverage that he needs. IMHO intensive in house therapy is needed.. he is a very angry depressed young person ,that is just impossible to everyone.,nasty to me,her parents ,her grandfather teachers I think.. and all he does is sit up in his room when he comes home from.school.. no phone that got taken away a long time ago .. just disrespectful and doesnt care about anyone or anything except himself...
I know having a new baby in the house can be some of it but Tracy and Kyle have bent over backwards trying to do stuff to engage Carmine and to do things together to no avail..
Any of you have any answers..
They are working with the school counselor but like I said Kyles insurance doesnt have mental health coverage..and I think he makes to much to get free seevices.. we are all at our wits end and our hearts hurt...
Take Carmine to his/her GP and get antidepressants. He/she is depressed.
Have the GP do a referral to someone who works with young people.
And quickly. See GodMomKim's post.
There should be free services available.
BTW, taking away his/her phone means that he/she has no chance to try to find help for him/her self.

We did well, having the three kids for over 3 hours. Not easy with the age range! Lots of art took place and Max curated an exhibition of cardboard. DH and I contributed.
The girls made friendship bracelets.
Max spent some time on a photo of me.
I think we did well. The weather wasn't good enough for outside play.

Work - of course
Still sorting things out in the aftermath of my phone fiasco last week.
Got another large document finished tonight and sent it.
But I finished the large document while watching Death in Paradise and Poirot, sitting in my chair in my comfy clothes ... so that's almost like relaxing.
Snow down to 400 metres tomorrow ... chilly and windy. Winter!
I've had to dig through my closet to see what I have in the way of pants ... slacks. I so rarely wear them!

Machka- already been to the GP and Dr was going to giver antidepressants, he said he wouldnt take them so that was the end of that..
And the phone was taken and turned off because he was staying up all night texting with friends so that was the reason..
Supposedly the family will be going to counseling this month when an opening opens with DCF i guess its an intensive counseling family sessions 2-3 times a week so pray that starts soon5 -
Woo! Just scared the quack out of myself when a reminder popped up saying I have a dental appointment at 9 a.m. Got the reminder at 8:30 a.m., so I was scrambling to get my socks on when I realized the reminder was one I'd set for 24 hours, so I'd remember I had an appointment tomorrow...
Been thunder bumbling and raining all morning since about 3 a.m. but supposed to be just cloudy the rest of the day. Repeat pattern predicted through Thursday. Early morning rain, slacking off by 9 a.m. each day. Spring in Arkansas.
It will take hours for things to dry enough to get outside and get anything done, so I'll be puttering inside. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Good morning ladies,
I've been trying to get back on the 16:8 IF. If I can put off first meal until 11, then finish off by 7, I can do it. Ice cream and cookies aren't helping, but once I can get outside and burn off more calories, that will have to do.
So on Saturday night I was barefoot, kicking little round stuffed birdies to Rosie. I misjudged and my right foot hit the recliner. Pinkie toe poked out at a 90 degree angle and it HURT. I pushed it back into place and dug out the Rocket tape and got it attached to the toe beside it. Mostly iced and elevated it yesterday, doing better today but shoes are dicey. Not too much swelling but nice bruise on top my foot. I have "stubbed"/jammed both pinky toes many times throughout my life, but this is the first time one of them has taken a hard right or left.
I found a pair of Hoka's in the closet with a super wide toe base and high-arch orthotics that I can walk in for short distances.
I went online yesterday and grabbed an appointment with the doc this morning at 9 am. Love their online scheduler. I wanted to go over DH's labs with him anyhow, so can get both taken care of.
Rori - you had to be channeling superwoman to deal with your foot problems when taking care of your husband and brother.
Annie - sending you strength as you deal with your aging parents. When I was looking for support regarding DH's dementia, I ran across this: AgingCare.com Lots of discussion about topics like the challenges you are experiencing.
Heather - glad the kids are home! Your meal looked delicious and what fun with the grands. Love the way your husband gets right in there with them. What a great opportunity for you two to be kids again.
Gotta finish up a few things and hit the shower.
Make it a great week!

Allie ~ Carmine is one mixed up kid who doesn't seem to really want help. It seems like he/she is enjoying all the drama that is being created in the family. Maybe in her mixed up state she really isn't ready to assume this new identify. Since he/she isn't an adult, why can't the parents insist that she take meds and go to counseling?

Hi Gals,
This is really long, but I felt like the differences between how the country’s handle medical care was making for some confusion. In the US this is a political thing, in this post I tried to make it factual and not political. So please accept my apologies if it reads political. I honestly tried to write this as an educational post.
Regarding help with caregiving and with mental health help – Some of you living outside of the US have made comments about all the options available at a free or financially accessible rate. Inside the US it is not the same, we have competent Mental Health professionals, and competent caregiving staff at all levels of care needed.
However due to the lack of a medical/mental health plan for all citizens, there is no system to support making those professionals available to everyone. Unlike in countries where the government provides health care, USA citizens pay for it ourselves. Some just pay as you get service, some folks have insurance which is partially/wholly paid for by the company/agency that they are currently working for or as a part of a retirement plan from their previous employer. Some folks buy their insurance on the open market, some folks buy their insurance with financial support from their local state or the federal government. Some served in the military and get their health care from a military agency (VA). Because of this mixture of how medical/mental health is paid for there is no set of default available services. Also because of this set up the individual plans for insurance and what is covered can change every year. Just based on what the organization helping pay for your service decides to do.
If you can pay enough all of it is available. But for example my insurance would not cover any “care support” in my home at all for any reason, but a neighbor gets in home Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and a couple of hours a week for things like showering/light housekeeping. She retired from an agency that included a very comprehensive health care plan for their retirees. And although I did not retire from my last employer the retirement benefits included extending your health care coverage to the end of the month you retired in (ie: retire on the 2nd of the month you are covered to the 30/31; retire on the 28th you are covered to the 30/31) but again this is totally what ever the company you retired from decided to offer.
So finding caring help for Annies parents, or counseling help for Allie’s grandchild could be very expensive and time consuming for the family or super easy depending on Annie’s parents insurance or Allie’s DD and DSIL’s insurance.
Sending love to all.

Allie, there are support groups - peer to peer for transgender kids rather than counseling and that might make a difference.
The 5 Best Online Transgender Support Groups of 2021
Best Overall: Trans Lifeline.
Best for Young People in Crisis: The Trevor Project.
Best for Support Around Surgical Transition: Transbucket.
Best for Teens and Their Parents: Gender Spectrum.
Best for Mental Health: The Tribe - LGBTQ+ Group.
I tend to agree with Carol, Carmine is not yet an adult, so a mandatory try is critical. Just like if you are dealing with an acholic, Al-anon is available for the other people affected there are groups and counseling available for the parents.
I can tell you from personal experience that if the person will not get help, if you can get help and change your behaviors and interactions with the suffering person, sometimes the suffering person will change their behaviors. NOT overnight but over time.

Tracey ~ Great pics of you and the grands at the fair. They are so cute!
Rebecca & Machka ~ Oh how I would have loved to tan like you two. Every summer I would burn, burn, and burn some more but no real tan. Now I am paying for it!
Heather ~ Such lovely family photos!
Kylia ~ Glad your accident was minor and y'all are safe.

I wish I could tan like I used too, as well! This old body hasn't really seen sun since 2016. I miss my nudist years. Maybe one day well go back and I will look like one of those dancing raisins in those commercials.😂😋

Allie, has anyone considered that Carmine may be using drugs in his confusion? He may be trying to self medicate. Along with the gender identity thing, that can cause the reactions Carmine is going through. I know he is young but some drug users start as early as 8 years old. Taking him to his primary care for blood tests ( talk to doc prior) may show something that can be treated. It’s hard, I know. My son is not transgender but started taking drugs in middle school to deal with his depression. I found out too late. He is 38 years old and has been clean for 8 years but still has mental health issues. Wouldn’t hurt to test Carmine. I hope I’m wrong.
