The sea is officially 'rough'. We are right in the front of the ship and high up so it gets the most movement. Beautiful views though! Of course, we didn't sleep well during the pitching, tossing, thumping and jerking, but both of us did keep dozing off.
This morning we both went to the gym at 7.15 and put in 50 minutes. I did some stretches/yoga in the cabin to help my back. My knee is tight, but it works OK.
DH is feeling a bit off. We've both had a sea sickness pill, but he feels it more than me. The butler brought us our wonderful breakfast. I took a picture, but not sure if it will come through the WiFi. Last night's formal attire, ditto. I will post when I can. The cheap, sparkly cape that I bought from Amazon looked great. The dress was borrowed years ago from my yoga teacher and she told me to keep it.
DH trying to sleep.
I will go to the cha-cha lesson at 11, but they may not be able to run it. DH can't balance when it's rough, so either he can watch me do it solo, or stay in bed. We were going to try the speciality diners tonight, but I don't think he is up to it. At some point we have to show up for a 'step test' to see if we are able to get into the tenders tomorrow.
Barbara, no bag schlepping. All carried for you from your own hallway. Lots of Saga passengers are mobility impaired and some in wheelchairs.
DH usually recovers after a day.
Love to all. Every day, make a one degree turn towards the life you want. Small steps.

Regarding choices ...
When my husband had his accident, I chose to stay in university to distract me and so that I would get my degree which would expand my options for employment and might improve our future situation.
I chose to take a course on Understanding TBI and also did a lot of research on my own.
I chose to take a slightly different approach with his TBI than the ultra-cautious approach the hospital was taking. I remember the day one of the OTs came in and told me that he could probably go for a 500 metre walk now. I just smile and said, "Thank you". We were already doing 2 km walks.
I chose to stay in the job I had as long as I did because it was relatively low stress and worked well for me when I had to dash out for 101 medical appointments etc.
I chose to start applying for jobs when some opportunities came up ... and got 2 jobs! Both of which I accepted.
I chose to go to a 9-day fortnight which is wonderful. And when my first of the 2 jobs started to become stressful, I chose to use my annual leave to take a day off on the other weeks so that I have not worked a 5-day week in quite some time.
We chose to get a lovely little black cat ... I chose to start doing some gardening ... we've chosen to grow some of our own veggies ... we're choosing to gradually increase our cycling ... we're choosing to travel around Tasmania when we can ...
Life isn't perfect. It's often very stressful and a lot of hard work. There are short nights with little sleep, frustrating meetings, and I'm tied to my computer much more than I like. I will whinge now and then about things I miss from the "Before Times" when we could travel so much more, visit my family, and cycle long distances ... because I do miss those things.
But life is a lot better than it was 4 years ago.
I expect we're all trying to make the best choices possible for our own situations.

WooHoo!!
However, I didn't get home until nearly 6:30 pm tonight so I didn't really get to enjoy those 60 seconds of extra daylight, but as usual, I did get out for a walk with Rhody.

Katie-glad your father had a peaceful passing. A trip with your mom sounds perfect.
Debbie-very stressful time for you and husband with MIL-you both need to also take care of yourselves.
Lanette-your husband's journey and experience with medications is very similar to my husband's. They definitely promoted his death.
Kylia-no damage from tornadoes in my neighborhood but a good bit of damage elsewhere. We need to ban them from our part of the state!
Depression discussion-I have not suffered from a high degree of depression (more what I consider down periods). I may have been given an antidepressant once years ago but didn't care for it. I know many people who have benefited from them. I try to avoid all medications I can, but I also think each person needs to do what is right for them.
Made quick trip to Chandler. Bottom line is decided not to commit to independent living community just yet. The first one I originally went to check out doesn't seem to offer much more than a regular apartment (but more expensive!). Viewed a couple of others that were lovely but they included the meals, etc, and I don't care to spend 3,500-4,000 a month for a place with meals quite yet. I am glad I saw the options so it was a good learning trip. Current plan is to rent a regular apartment for a while and then do something different once I get acclimated to area and really see what is there. Will hook up with a church and go to senior center and find out what others think/do. Of course-health tests had to jump into the process which may impact things.Latest blood results show an increase in the thyroid cancer marker (jumped up 5 points since January). Endo office called and said he doesn't want me freaking out (I've been through this before, but not quite such a large jump). They have me scheduled for neck, chest, ab/pelvic ct on July 15 then meeting with doctor on July 21. Based on what they find or decide to do, it may impact my retirement decisions. If they want a lot of involved treatment (don't know what that would be) I may retire sooner and just move to Columbus right now to be closer to the James Cancer center and youngest son. If it is a case where they can't find anything and just want to monitor, will probably go ahead with Az plan. Lots of choices. I was first diagnosed in 1996 and have had no thyroid since then. Luckily over the last 26 years they have learned more about the whole deal.
Off to get ready for work. Need to go in for a meeting at 9 and may come back to house and work from home for day after that.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Managed a cha cha lesson. DH had to watch. Ship is pitching. I'm going to have lunch alone as DH is resting. I am lucky to be a good sailor!

I'm with your husband. I've done overnight ferry trips (Melbourne to Tasmania, between UK and France) and it's about all I can manage with a large dose of dimenhydrinate to knock me out.

Machka - It was very comical on the dance floor! But no-one fell over. Some of the ladies gave up.

Hi Barbie! Thanks for this!! I’m Leslie from NWArkansas and am ready to find the me I know I can see! It’s time for change and I’m going to catapult myself forward this month!
Nice to meet everyone and I look forward to the support while supporting others!6 -
@LeslieAWagner, welcome! I live in the River Valley of Arkansas, pleased to see you here!1

Heather ~ Loved the photo of you in your dress and cape...you looked lovely.
Going to lunch with my two girl friends today and worried as I looked at the number of calories of dishes on the menu. I have gained almost 5 lbs over the last two months and need to find my way out of stressful eating. For most of my adult life, I literally starved myself in order to stay below 125 lbs. Today I was up to 174 and hate it.

Making choices for me has included finding sources of comfort and recreation that don't involve food.
Heather,You look so beautiful and happy.

Carol, I remember a discussion I had with my mom and a friend of hers - the topic was weight, and the pursuit of thinness. We were looking at old pictures of their "sewing club", and I noticed that almost all of the women were impossibly thin, so I asked how they did it - and they said they simply didn't eat any meals. Maybe they would eat one of the crusts they cut off the kids' sandwiches, or one bite of a leftover fish stick. Lots of black coffee. It was a stunning revelation. I don't know how they kept from falling over. I hope you will enjoy your time with your friends despite the menu.4

Ginny- Hope the tests come out alright for you. Not knowing is the worst.
Off to line dancing in a minute IF they can run it. It's very rough.

Waves are 4 metres. (13 ft) We are at the front and high up .
Lots of shudders and bumps.

No line dancing. Health and Safety.

Heather - are the rough seas supposed to calm down before long? You must have been a marine in a previous life to do so well with the swaying ship. Think I've always been a landlubber, lol. Your dress and sparkly wrap looked great!
Ginny - glad you were able to make it to Chandler and see what's what. Hoping for the best possible outcome with future tests. Happy to know you have options both in AZ and near Columbus. ((HUGS)))
Debbie - yes, now I remember, your folks had huge gardens that you'd help with at times. Glad your mom is healthy. Sending continued energy as you deal with MIL.
Carol - hope your knee is feeling better. Did the A/C repairman get the problem fixed at the rental? I stepped on the scale the other day, weight is about the same but my fat is definitely moving toward my middle, as it did with my German grandmothers and mom. I'm not too happy with excess belly girth, hoping cutting back on sugary stuff after supper will keep it under control. Enjoy lunch with your girlfriends.
I read an interesting article in Blue Zones about Hara Hachi Bu - stopping eating when our stomachs are 80% full. Golly, not sure I could do this. Here's the article if anyone is interested:
So far this morning I've been out pruning back shrubbery for the heat pump crew coming this Friday, sawed off a few low hanging branches from a maple that tries to decapitate me when I mow. I also planted more onions, and still want to plant a few carrots, also in tubs.

Wish they had more "reactions" that you could leave to comments here. Your dress is amazing Heather!!! Glad you're having a good time, but for the waves!
Steamy here, staying inside again today. Hoping for more temperate weather on Saturday to watch Anne's game. I am NOT a not and humid gal, but I so want to be there. I suffered a rather serious case of heat exhaustion many years ago and now I watch myself very carefully... probably even more than necessary. But it was scary. We'll see what the weather says.

Tried the intermediate line dancing class last night and managed almost an hour with no knee pain results. One dance had a backwards, three quarter turn so I sat that one out. Think those backward twist/turns are what aggravate the ol’ knee.
Suddenly summer, it was over 90F in Harbor last night and the grange is NOT air conditioned . Couple of fans tried bravely but there were some complaints
Allie hooray for new bed!
Katla ((hugs)) keeping you and your DH in prayers. Thankful you have Chris to help in this hard hard time ((hugs)) Have you got a water cannon squirt gun? Might discourage the hungry cat without harm…
Rebecca Bravissima Athena’s brilliant Grandma!
Vicki 2000 miles and 5 states in 5 days? That’s what we called IronButt!
Terri “ound a family who accepted me for my unique personality, and I stopped rebelling…” wisdom this.
Annie pain makes me cranky too. Hope your side stops hurting.
Debbie ((hugs)) whooshing strength to you.
Lanette “ucky enough to have wood to chop on my cranky days” SMH
Kay the image of cat rescued in Cracker Barrel to go box. Fingers Xd.
Michele good luck with the smaller mask.
Pip visiting family can be way more exhausting than working out, imho
Heather brava for the challenging cha cha! Wow that suite. Hubba hubba you! “Turn one degree toward…” I needed to hear that. Thanks! Hope the sea smooths out for you soon.
Machka “I just smile and say ’Thank you.’” What a great skill
Ginny thanks for sharing your thoughts about Chandler’s senior living offerings. Prayers for the July 15 scans and 21 appointment.
Welcome @LeslieAWagner Leslie from NW AR!
Carol enjoy your friends, make the best choices you can at the time, and breathe. Worry and stress really grab onto the calories and hold them in the form of fat, as you can tell from my lack of waist.
Barbie can’t tell you how comforted I have been by returning to line dancing. Lighter hearted, sleeping better, smiling til my face feels like its going to crack.
Karen oh the unhealthy things they did to themselves
Lanette “…sugary stuff after dinner” that is my downfall. Instead of hara hachi bu, think I’ll challenge myself to get up and get some steps in before indulging. Sometimes postponing, can morph into abstaining…
Carla keep cool!
NSV, Joe went to Freddie’s this morning and came home with NO pies, cakes, donuts. Well done Joe!
Done:6/21: Move: 1 set pt, dogs to powerline, almost an hour line dancing, steps: 5743Lighter, lovelies!
Fuel: protein=58 g sugar=111! g fruit=3 vegs=1
Live: Joe, readings, hymns, chat with P, J and SM, emailed call list to A, sat at the shady picnic table and read.

Heather love your dress!
I slept through my yoga time! Wonder how that happened. I guess I will fit it in this afternoon but I have to remember not to eat beforehand.
I trimmed Teddy's beard and missed a small section. He always makes me smile, but now he looks funny too. 😊
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Barbara- I think the line dancing set my knee off too. I've changed to wearing my slippy ballroom shoes which helps enormously with any turns. It's already feeling much better.
We arrive at an island just off the south coast of Iceland tomorrow and will be moored for the day. We have to go ashore by tender, so had to take a step test today to see if we could make it into the boat. Both of us more than fine.
Our clocks go back tonight because Iceland is permanently on GMT.
Tomorrow is a History and Lava walk. The island of Haimaye (sp?) had a huge volcanic eruption in 1973 and the lava destroyed a lot of houses, plus created new land. We shall be walking to the lava fields and visiting the museum. Afternoon visit, so we have told our butler we need an early lunch in our room. Have to be assembling at 12.30 for the tender.
DH managed to eat a couple of cookies this afternoon and is drinking a digestive Pernod. He is going to come with me to the dining room and see how he feels. I very much enjoyed my solo lunch today, because I got chatting to the next door table.
Looking forward to my first visit to Iceland. Fire and Ice.

Heather, your cruise sounds great but not the waves- I use the sea bands when we go on our cruises and after delaying putting them on the first one, those things go on as soon as we are on the ship. Don't want to be sick in bed for the first day again.
Love the dress- glad you are enjoying all the activities.
Was so hot yesterday. A friend posted 108 at their weather station(she has one on property at her winery)-she lives just two miles from mom. It was about 103 here but in my car, at 5PM heading to my MIL's it was 111.
Stayed with her all night so dh could work his 8hr shift. It wouldn't be bad if she just slept but she doesn't. She talks, yells at the dog, in her sleep. Needs help to use the bathroom, this time it was at 2:30 I think(after I went to sleep around 12, also up at 3:30 and then 5, then up for good by 5:30)
One of those times she was telling me I had to go outside to pay the gardener before he left but she couldn't find the box with the money- Tried to explain it was midnight and the guy wasn't out there.
Dh was hoping she was going to be better sleeping and that he could go into work for a couple hours, leaving her alone. She isn't ready for that yet. So, said that if I don't give up the daycare then he will have to quit- to me it felt like a guilt trip. I told him no, he needs to hire some help. Neither of us need to quit our jobs for her. He just talked about someone has to be there all the time and beings he makes more money and we get our medical through his work......... I am too tired to fight him right now but no, not going to quit to take care of her full time. I wanted to retire before but he said no, we need the tax write off but suddenly now, it is ok to quit, if it is to take care of her.
I will be there tonight and I am not sure the other nights.
He is taking vacation time after this coming week. He needs to use that time to find help if she isn't well enough to be alone for small amounts of time.
Rushed home for daycare girl just to get a text from her mom saying, oh, she is working a later shift and she will bring her in a few HOURS- I am glad to be home but would have been nice to know ahead of time. I could have walked MIL's dog- didn't walk yesterday, won't today either now.
Tomorrow we take MIL in for her cast. He can't do it alone so will be going then too. Think I will be doing a lot of walking while I wait for them to get done- need to get my steps in some how
I am eating a whole lot less- too tired to cook anything much here and don't feel comfortable eating much there( need to bring a few snacks tonight)
Hope you all have a wonderful Wed. (for a second, couldn't even remember what day of the week it was.
Going to use this extra free time to weed my garden- it has been getting neglected.
Also need to make humming bird food and feed the squirrels.
Debbie
