We had a great sing-song!
In the middle of it, the door bell rang. It was my son clutching a pizza box! They had gone to Fatto a Mano for lunch and he had forgotten to order gluten free! He had them box it up and brought it round to see if we could use it. I think he was a bit surprised to find us in fine fettle and singing at the top of our voices!
Here it is still very mild, and roses, dahlias and geraniums are blooming! I can't imagine dealing with all that snow. It does snow on the south coast, but it's been years since it was more than a couple of inches. Officially we are more like a Mediterranean climate, but there are cold spells.
I've prepared the curry sauce in the IP for the monkfish, which I will add at the last minute. Just have to make a raita. Can't find the Gewürzt, so DH has pulled out a Gavi. I have to confess I had a small slice of the bonus pizza for my afternoon snack.
Back to proper eating tomorrow. On the ship there were lots of mirrors, which showed me a vision I was not happy with. The mirror I use at home is on the wall by the bedroom door and, unfortunately, is very flattering. It us a "thin" mirror. I only have to move one step to the right to see the real me in the linen cabinet glass doors, but I have preferred to kid myself. Enough!
The other guests on the ship were a real lesson to me. Many were obese and largely immobile, barely stirring out of their chairs and very compromised in what activity they could do. It was a horrible warning.
I resolve to eat healthily and beautifully, starting tomorrow. These rolls around my middle are very uncomfortable and I do not like it!

Lisa - do you find that by using your elliptical, your balance is better too? My walking partner peddles every day on a recumbent bike to keep her knees flexible.
I was telling her about aiming for a total of 20 minutes on my seated elliptical. And how surprised I was that my legs were so much stronger after using for a short period of time - couple months. I could go up stairs now without them tiring out.
She grinned and said she bet my balance was probably better too, and it struck me - yes, it certainly was.
Now I need to take a clue from Annie and start incorporating some dumbbells into my routine. They are looking at me from a shelf right now, I'd best stop ignoring them.

Regarding mangoes ... there are a number of different varieties.
https://mangoes.net.au/about-australian-mangoes/australian-mango-varieties/
Right now, here in Tassie, we've got Kensington Pride which is all right. They seem to show up early so I usually have a few of them first.
But then Calypso mangoes appear, and that's the kind I go for during the rest of the season.
Last year, we got a huge variety about mid-season. If they appear again, I'm going to have to check the name. They were good but very big and very filling.
Regarding the glass method of scooping mangoes. It only works on ripe mangoes. I could never have used that method on the under-ripe, rock-hard mangoes found in Canada. The riper the mango, the more easily the skin separates from the flesh.
Papayas ... I like dried papayas, but I'm not overly keen on the fresh ones.
Machka in Oz
I never cared for fresh papaya until I started cutting my own. I don't know if it is something the other places put on the cut ones to keep them fresh or what, just had an odd taste to it. The ones I get whole taste so much better but have to be ripe but not over ripe. Mom said the same thing.
I got one yesterday- super great sale at just .49cents a pound at the 99cent store. It is green but will ripen. They do eat it green here too but I prefer mine ripe and sweet.Green is in a salad, like a slaw.1 -

🥂💕 Happy Anniversary 💕🥂
It sounds like you are off to a great start and have a fantastic day planned! Have a wonderful time💕
Annie it’s finally here your special day!
🎉🎂🥳Happy Birthday 🥳🎂🎉
Beth they were extremely delicious! Taste better than they even look if that’s possible. I only had one and a small fudge bite. But the whole container was almost gone by the time we finished with our games. I wish I could go buy more. I’ll have to wait till next year for the next Christmas bazaar.

Happy Anniversary Heather and Johnny xoxo
Happiest of Birthdays Annie
I haven't gotten up and out of bed yet.. and i might just relax for awhile..
Both Doris and I are getting excited about going to the Cape.. im basically all packed.
I do miss having a nice fire in a fireplace.. growing up we always had a fireplace and my mom always loved having a fire going in the fall and winter..
And up at the cottage.I love sitting in front of the fireplace and just watching the fire and relaxing..
I really miss having a fireplace too. The one we had when we were growing up was hand made by a friend of the family- all hand picked river rock that either my uncle/grandfather/us picked. Roy had made the same type fireplace at the family cabin on the coast and when we built our house, my parents asked Roy to build one for us. So many great memories of sitting in front of it. For many years, that was the only heat we used. We would sit in front of it until our backs were super hot then run down the hall and jump into bed.
I still love sitting or standing in front of it when I go visit mom. My favorite spot in the whole house.

ready to head to church- wearing pants for the first time there-Went to get dressed and the cat had peed on the skirt I was going to wear(hadn't hung it up when I should have) Oh well, at least I will be warm. They have the AC on too much most Sundays.
Walking MIL's dog this afternoon while dh gives her a hair cut- first time. She doesn't want to go out anymore to get it cut.
Left over salmon for dinner.1 -
Heather ... Happy Anniversary! I, too, am motivated by others I see who are struggling with their health. It did not escape my notice while rehabbing my knees this past year that all the women receiving knee replacements were significantly overweight.
November Gratitude: Who I'm Grateful For - First that came to mind was my husband, followed by my deceased son (so, so grateful for the time I had with him and the lessons I learned), my younger son, parents, grandmother and a dear woman named Bernice. But I could go on and on ...

Thanks for all your birthday wishes! I am so thankful for all the friends I have made on this site! Yay!
Hello ladies,
I walked twenty minutes this morning, and decided I need new walking shoes. If I order online, I can get wide sizes but I can't try them on. I think I will risk it. I'm still deciding whether I want minimalist or some cushion for the concrete floor. Hmm. We are blessed to have so many choices.
I made a step forward with the electronics by using my new phone for music with Amazon music. Now I can stop charging my old phone, which leaves room in my life for the Kindle. It looks like the earbuds will have to be charged too. That's a lot for my little brain to track. Maybe I need phone reminders to charge things.
Anyway, Happy Anniversary to you Heather! I'm glad to hear you are up and singing. And I'm right with you, rejecting my mirror image and back on the diet and exercise wagon. We can do this!

I find a little squeeze of lime on the papaya makes all the difference,. I don't eat it without. We ate quite a bit on the cruise along with mango and pineapple and all varieties of melon. Even blackberries and strawberries, raspberries, all freshly cut and as fresh as fresh can be! How they keep them like that is a mystery to me.
That was the start of our breakfast. Massive plate full. I miss having someone to peel and chop everything for me and grate and chop all the salads. I had a big salad at lunch time. Much easier to eat healthily. I had no need to eat carbs.
DH has just had a conversation with his sister and we have all agreed not to do Christmas presents. HOORAY! She is usually the sticky one. Fortunately, they are off to Cyprus straight after Christmas, so she was less invested.
My monkfish curry was fantastic and DH loved it. It's one of my favourite things, but rarely cook it. You need a dense fish.
Going to watch a Vera repeat tonight. I think we've only seen it twice before.
I've read all the Richard Osman books. He is on our tvs daily. A kind of National Treasure.
Just finished Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. It won awards. I liked it, but I didn't love it.
Keep going Annie! We can do this!!!

Annie: Happy Birthday!
Katla: Hope you get to see your DH this week!
Barbara: I put off vacuuming but it is never so bad once one is doing it!
Beth: All that snow! Be careful!
Lanette: I hope to use the elliptical on Monday and Tuesday and then get back to it next week. I hate missing time on it!
Tracey: So Sorry about your son in law's grandmother. I am glad she didn't suffer long.
Rori: Sounds like a really nice job!
MargaretTurk: I am glad you are okay from the highway incident.
DLFK202000: Hope the spot on your nose heals.
Quiet afternoon here. I am about to give my DH some lunch. I have a to do list for the next 3 days and have done the meal preparation for my son's visit. We are having filet mignon for Thanksgiving since my son does not like turkey. I have a new cast iron frying pan to cook this on the stove and then in the oven. I plan to make fettuccine alfredo and mashed potatoes and 3 veggies. I will purchase the desserts from The Fresh Market...which is like a Whole Foods. I hope I have the energy for all this. I do get tired and down. I believe my son and his wife will help me!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Lanette - Actually, it's funny you'd say that about balance and the elliptical. Corey and I just walked the five acres by the house, and he stayed outside to get a little burning done. I've walked like an old sailor for a couple years now, and I've assumed it was just one or more medications making me sway and stagger a little from side to side. If I were ever stopped by a cop, I couldn't walk a straight line even though I don't drink! But today, I felt much less like walking was a controlled fall, and more like just walking. I'm more than willing to chalk it up to the elliptical.
After I took my late morning meds and ate lunch (a piece of string cheese and three peanut butter crackers) and then did those 20 minutes on the elliptical, I sat down in the recliner and slept for well over an hour... I'm really enjoying naps these days, and that phrase makes me feel as old as Methuselah.
When I was in the hospital after my knee replacement, I noticed the same thing Beth, the chunky little old ladies that were being reluctantly led around the hallways... same surgery, different outlook. The moment they let me up, I was moving, because I knew the more I did, the faster I'd recover. The VA won't pay for a knee replacement if you're more than 40 pounds overweight, but civilian docs and/or insurance don't seem to have that requirement.
Ah, Corey's back in, chopping up veggies for stir fry for dinner. Going to try the Instant Pot as a rice cooker. Should be educational!
Later, y'all,
Love,

Beth - OMG the pics of that snow. Hard to wrap my brain around it! It's 46F and clear here in Virginia.

This afternoon, my brother and I will finish getting everything ready for the movers to come tomorrow morning. He is very excited about his new place. I took him to a Thanksgiving dinner at the apartments where he lives. It was, interestingly enough, provided by Eastern Star from the Tidewater area. Life is a mystery. He said the food was good, if a bit bland, and he enjoyed meeting some of his neighbors. Then we went over his apartment move-in checklist and noted the deficiencies. I tried to get him internet & wifi but didn't accomplish it. I may have to get him a different phone. He does qualify for a reduced price through the ACP Lifeline Support program, which will give him a $30 discount each month for internet/wifi. It's still pricey even so. Fortunately, utilities are included. He has to pay for TV, internet, phone, laundry, and food, although he may qualify for reduced meal prices. We're still exploring that.

Did Kari Anderson’s Go Step DVD, then stopped in at BK just to peel and slice onions, then WalMart, then bought gas, then Aldi. Down here, the time to go shopping or buy gas is on Sunday morning...lol I’m not a total heathen – I went to church last night. Then made a chocolate cream pie (sort of pie) for the freezer for T day, now making sweet potatoes. I usually make them in the microwave, but since I have so many I’ll make them in the oven and freeze them. If I have room in the freezer, I’ll buy more. While the crust for the chocolate cream was cooling, I went for a walk around the block
Why do I peel and slice onions? Well, I like to get to work early. I figure the sooner I get there, the sooner I can finish and be out of everyone’s way when they have their lunch rush. See, if the day before they get their delivery I peel and slice onions, I can take them into the “break” room, separate them and be out of Jerry’s way while he puts things from the truck away.
Barbie – thanks so much. Unfortunately, my library doesn’t have any of his books in ebooks. For some reason, I like reading on my tablet, but not so much a book. Maybe it’s the convenience of not having to worry about returning it on time. I also checked the library down in FL and they don’t have them either
Beth – I’m glad you used the snowblower. When we lived in the Poconos, we had a neighbor who shoveled everything. By the end of the winter, you should have seen the piles! I didn’t think anyone did something like that. One time the snow was so deep that the plow got stuck! The city had to call in a bigger plow. But this neighbor still shoveled. To me, the worst part is when the snow sticks to the shovel.
Where they removed the skin tag is still itching like h***. Vince changed the bandage for me from gauze to band aids. But it’s still itching
Tracey – beautiful houses!!! Is the “snow” on the base like an envision?
Debbie – I like that you cook your own food. When we go to NY Hibachi, they have a place where you can put on your plate the veges and seafood/meats that you want (oh, also rice/noodles, but I never get that). Only thing is I always have to tell them not to use butter. To me, it tastes just as good if not better than if you use the butter. I’d rather taste the veges, not the butter.
Mary – the cookies look divine. You have strong willpower. To have only one cookie and a piece of fudge!
Heather – so glad to hear you are better. Happy Anniversary. I always feel sorry for people who can’t do things because of their weight. Unfortunately, too many times it’s their own fault.
Annie – a lot of places will let you return shoes as long as they haven’t been worn (like outside)
Lisa – the only way I’ll make rice is in the IP. It comes out so fluffy!
Boy, I sure hope Jess and Colby have dinner here Wed. when they come. I need the room in my freezer! Should have gotten the large freezer, not the medium one!
Oh, I ordered a new bowl for my food processor, ordered it on ebay. First, the guy sent me an empty box. Then he couldn’t find the bowl and said he’d give me a refund. That was about 2 weeks ago. I’ll give him another week and if there’s still no refund, I’ll make the case to ebay. In the meantime, I’ve decided that I’d really like a larger food processor. This one is about 20 years old, I’ve worn it out literally. So I put on my Christmas list a new 14cup food processor (mine was only 3cups)
Karen – so happy for your brother. You are an amazing sister

Those who shop at Aldi(we don't have any near us )
A friend posted they have butter on sale $1.99 for 1lb. limit 6.
Wish we had one here. I was thrilled when I was able to get a three pack for $9.99 a couple weeks ago.
Time to stock up if you can get that deal!2 -

We used to have a place like that- they are called Korean BBQ here- I really liked the one here in town because, like you, I filled my bowl with tons of veggies and chicken and skipped the noodles. The thing I didn't like was because I didn't eat that much, I would take my own bowl with me to take my left overs. This was my one and only bowl full- I didn't eat one full bowl then make a second just to take with me. It would have been thrown in the garbage anyway. The owner didn't want me doing it. I understand for the most part but for the little amount I ate, it wasn't worth the price.DH and his friends went often and always went back for seconds.
There is a new one opening up in town soon. I am sure we will go try it.
No mater where we eat out, I almost always bring half home. Couldn't Thursday at Shabuya but ever other place I do.
I totally know how you feel about the bandage itching- mine started itching really bad this afternoon while I was walking MIL's dog- took it off when I got home and letting it air out until I go to bed. Glad I am getting the stitches out tomorrow afternoon. I will find out then if he is going to freeze the rest off or if he plans on just leaving it and me just covering it with makeup.

Lisa - glad to hear your balance is improving too. And I can tell when I'm peddling - my stomach muscles are getting a little workout too. As I said before, I think this is the best workout "machine" I've ever purchased.
Rosemarie - is that elliptical you use one a standing one with the arm exercising too or are you able to sit? Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds great. Glad your son and his wife can be there for Thanksgiving, and I'll bet they'll be glad to pitch in and help. Neat that they live fairly close!!
Heather - so glad you and John recovered quickly and had a nice day - singing and pizza sound good to me - Happy Anniversary and many, many more! I hope Vera has another season. I think I've watched the series three times already, lol.
Started watching Karen Pirie on Britbox. So far, the first 15 minutes didn't turn me on. Maybe it's her falling into bed with a workmate right away. Anymore, seems like writers feel they need to throw that in at the start. Guess the younger viewers like shows to start out that way, lol. I used to Now I'm all for Vera in her floppy hat and trenchcoat yelling at whoever gets in her way.
Allie - love those pictures of Carmine and Miles - sounds like Tobias is a good influence Pretty tree! I noticed a neighbor across the street has theirs up already.
Katla - I'll tell the hummingbirds you send greetings. One of these days I hope to find a teensy nest, even an empty one. I'm going to have to keep a sharp eye out, I think they are the size of thimbles.
Karen - how exciting for your brother. And what a good feeling to know you helped him on his way a win-win. How far is his new apartment from where your new place will be?
Mary - I honestly would have polished off all those cookies within a day. All by myself.
OK ladies, have a great week ahead!
