Evening ladies
Alfie and I are watching Christmas movies on Lifetime..
Stopped and dropped a few things off at Tracys this afternoon.
She found out that Carmines friend was staying for the weekend..last night ..so Carmine and Tobias had Miles running around the house for an hour and he passed out cold for the night..
It gave Tracy a break.. and Miles had fun...5 -

Two ways I peel mango. Peel the whole thing then slice off both thick sides then the thin sides or before peeling it, cut the two thick sides off, score it, push it inside out and cut the cubes off then trim the thin sides.
Thanks for the reminder- I have a few that I need to use up.
I use a different method that my daughter-in-law taught me.
The mangos here are usually so ripe that we can't peel and slice well. So we use a water glass.

Took Lucy to our vet. Well, can’t tell if it’s broken without an X-ray. Could b an infection, we r going w/ the treatment as if it is an infection. She’s on a couple of pills 2x a day and soak her foot 15minutes for 2x a day w/epsum salts and warm water 2 c if swelling goes down, then go back in 8 days. She will have to b off of it of course. I’m gonna put her in our dog stroller so she can get out and get some fresh air

Thanks for all who weighed in on my continued positive testing, i did a little research on it and as some of you said, it looks like 5 days from first positive then mask for another 5 days and you are good to go if your symptoms are gone. I am still not comfortable going in crowds like church, lay servant academy, etc. I am ok with masking up and going to the store for essentials. I would feel much, much better with a negative test, but I read that some people continue to test positive for months!
The thing that worries me is Thanksgiving and the housecleaner. She is supposed to come Tuesday and she has a newborn. I’m not sure I’m comfortable exposing her to our house of germs. I guess we will keep Thanksgiving simple and let the family decide for themselves.
I’m pretty sure that I got this at a family reunion. Over the half the folks that were there are sick, but I am the only one who actually took a covid test. I swear, I am beyond annoyed with them. It would be nice to at least know for sure that’s where I got it. From what I understand, one of Mama’s cousins brought her neighbor who came “with a sinus infection.” My mother didn’t get sick, but she just had Covid back at the end of August.
Back to the topic of gifts of food, my sister dropped off some grapes for Dave yesterday and she brought me a carton of ice cream and a block of cheese. She said Daddy always brought us ice cream and cheese when we were sick. I think she made that up, because I do not remember it. I resisted the ice cream last night, but had a small bowl tonight. Hopefully Dave will help me eat it. I could just toss it I guess, but I won’t.7 -

Thanks I have never bought a whole mango only had it in a mixed fruit container and I thought I would try it. It looks totally different than I thought it would! Thanks for telling me how to get rid of all my extra stuff!! I know that I had tried to sign up for my local group, but never got any feedback after I gave them my information. I will try again. Thanks!

I laughed when I read this because it reminded me that my father's food to make sick people feel better was soft boiled eggs and tomato juice.

I’ll do anything to put off vacuuming. Frittered away the entire day, with things that needed to be done, but not necessarily before brunch guest arrives at 9:30 am tomorrow, like searching for an orange butter cream or cream cheese frosting recipe (for Sunday morning fellowship), two games of Spider Solitaire and checking in here.
Happy anniversary KJ! And early Happy Birthday Annie!
Katla so happy to hear your DH has found friends in his facility and that you were able to join him for dinner. ((hugs)) for not being able to live together yet.
Betsy safe travels!
Tina  :ROTLFLMAO:
Lisa not just vintage veins. In my thirties I used to donate blood but stopped after my veins got wise and rolled away at the needle’s approach. Last time was bruised from near shoulder to wrist. Pfaugh.
Lanette yours to Beth. Thought the same when I heard “Buffalo” on the weather news.
Debbie good luck with the new regime to reawaken your metabolism. Still concerned about your stress levels. ((hugs))
Vicki sorry for your loss. Opening your home to someone for 4.5 years, what good hearts you and your DH have!
Barbie your father’s feel better food would have made me feel sicker. I far prefer Kay’s father’s approach. My Papa brought me ice cream and Seven-Up.
Heather glad your feeling better, hope Johnny recovers in time for your anniversary.
So now I’m sleepy and going to continue putting off vacuuming while I sleep for a few hours. I’ll probably wake up in the middle of the night all fired up to clean. Poor Joe!

I have never had good luck with fresh mango. Most likely, I don't know how to pick them correctly because we didn't eat them when I was a kid. However, we have had a lot of enjoyment out of canned mango. It's expensive; almost $3.00 a can (and not a large can, either), but it tastes so good that I don't mind getting it as a treat for everyone now and then. I can't always find it either.

Worked then the soup kitchen. Now home and I think I’ll take a walk. Going to see “Lifespan of a Fact” play tonight.
Katla – I’m so sorry to hear about your dh not being “with it”. Hopefully, things will turn around soon
Last night Jess called and said that we should have Thanksgiving here since we have a bed. I said that I really didn’t care either way (what else could I say?) Vince said that he overheard Colby saying that the last time we were there, he had a terrible night’s sleep on the air mattress. This is probably it. Jess said that she needed to “ruminate” over it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have it here. I haven’t made a Thanksgiving dinner in years. If it is going to be here, I think I’d like to ask this one couple I know from bowling since I know that they will be alone.
Lanette – when I first heard that Buffalo was going to get 4’ of snow, my first thought was “hope Beth is ok and her mom”. From what I understand, it’s supposed to snow into Sunday. Well, she can keep it….lol
I tell you, where I had the skin tag removed yesterday is ITCHY!!!
pip – those pooches are sure lucky to have you!
Mary – now you know why I only buy mangoes cut up or freeze-dried!!!
Anne DE – happy early birthday!
Just got back from seeing “lifespan of a fact”. Very thought provoking. Need to talk to Jess, see when she wants to have Thanksgiving. We usually had it the day after Thanksgiving when we’d go to her place. I also want to talk to her about the menu so I can buy things

First, she said don't think so much about the calories- think more about balance.
No more intermittened fasting- My metabolism is too low. It is asleep from the time I go to bed until I eat my first meal which has been around 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon so not awake long enough.
I need to eat a small breakfast of fiber and protein to get it started in the morning and have small snacks and more balanced meals.
Need to add some carbs to it.
They are focusing on getting A1C and Cholesterol down because they are too high.
Exercise is good and to keep it up-
Be careful with snacks- be sure they are balanced and good portion control on some things.
I will start with small changes and see how I feel.
I will have a piece of whole wheat toast and some baby bel cheese before I go walk. I have been have a cheese before walking the past few days but not the bread too.
I lose more when I eat more often and keep my calories a bit over 1200. I am going to try to lose 5lbs between now and New Year’s we’ll see how I do.

We had our Christmas party from work tonight. It was nice.
The restaurant had a crispy mashed potato on the menu. I was told it was delicious. It is mashed potato piped onto a spring roll wrap then deep fried. I didn’t look up the calorie count on it. 😂
My Son In Law’s grandmother passed away this morning. My grandchildren are quite close to her, they are going to be hurting.
She treated my daughter like one of her own, she was the only one in the family that did. I worry about that too.
She was playing on a teeter totter with her Great Grands last month, after celebrating her 85th birthday and 65th wedding anniversary. Two weeks ago she had a stomach ache and when she went to the hospital she was told she had a cancerous growth on her gallbladder. I’m glad she didn’t suffer long.

Lisa: Sorry about your bruised hand. Arnica gel always helps me get my frequent leg bruises cleared up fast. It's available in all major drug stores.
Machka: I'm still chortling over the cheesecake meme. I can totally relate.
Katla: While your DH gets better in the skilled nursing facility I hope you will take good care of you. Any chance of finding a yoga class nearby?
My little part time job is going to ramp up these next 2 months, and that suits me fine. I feel fortunate to be free of holiday obligations and stress. I like to see other people having a fun time, so I've signed up to work the holidays. Some of the shows, like The Nutcracker will be performed 2x a day, and since I'll already be at the Performing Arts Center, I'll pull a double. And, the basketball season is on, so I've also signed up to work games when my favorite team is in town. On those shifts I usually scan tickets for the first half, then go into the arena and watch the rest of the game while giving the inside ushers their breaks. Easy peasy. Got to watch the play "My Fair Lady" last night. I hadn't heard the soundtrack in years, but all the lyrics came flooding back as I distinctly remember my mom taking us to the drive in to see the movie with Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn. I've got "Little Bit of Luck" stuck in my head now.....
Healing energy going down the wire to all of you who need and want it for yourselves or those you care for. Stay WELL, friends. We can do this. 💪🏽

Rori great advice for Katla about taking a yoga class. It seems that you are taking great care of yourself. I love hearing about your adventures!
Tracey so sorry to hear about your SIL’s grandmother passing away 💕. It sounds like she was a very special part of the family and will be missed 💕 Hugs and prayers for your family and the extended family and friends 💕
Michele that’s the only way I had them. I have to let them ripen a bit before I try one! I’ll let you know how I do. Do they have a large pit or seeds??

So sorry.
Food when sick: my mother always fed us chicken noodle Cup a Soup, soda crackers, ginger ale and coca cola. If it was a cold, she'd add orange juice. If I had a sore throat, it would be popsicles.
Most of the time, I have a "sickness kit" in the cupboard/freezer consisting of most of those things.
Mangos: In Canada, the mangos were hard as rock and a little bit sour. People seemed to like them like that, but I didn't.
When I came to Australia the first time, I was cycling through Queensland when the mangoes were ripe. Some towns had mango trees that lined the streets, and the mangos were dropping off, so my cycling partner and I would stop, gather them up, and eat them throughout the day.
Although, "eat them" wasn't really accurate ... we drank them. They were so ripe, we'd lop off one end and drink, then scoop out whatever was vaguely solid with a spoon. They were so sweet and wonderful!
The mangoes we have in the shops now are just about like that. I'm sort of wondering if they might be left over from last season because the fresh ones are usually a bit firmer at this time of year.
Mangoes have a peel, a large stone, and the edible flesh. The edible flesh has fibres around it as well and they are edible too.
When I pick them, I choose a mango that's fairly heavy, has plump cheeks, and is a little bit soft when gently squeezed.
I love them. They're right up there among my favourite fruits, but they are 200 calories so I have to limit my consumption a bit.
As for peeling them with a water glass, it's like this:

Still not right. We both have no energy. Decided this morning to postpone DSIL's visit. We rang and rescheduled for the 3rd/4th December.
I've got tinnitus and a back that has turned to stone. Just resting.
Waitrose delivery after lunch, so we have plenty of food. Just going to be patient. A patient patient.
Just got a few presents to wrap and a card to write for tomorrow. I haven't got a special meal planned as we were all going to go out to the Persian restaurant in the evening. I expect we will have blinis for lunch.

I wrote this in response to a friend who posted Practice the Pause in Facebook today...
A major challenge this week with ill husband, ill dog, car into the shop, drove through blizzard on Thursday and lost control on highway fortunately did not end in ditch or struck by another car, another near miss in the wonderful Tamerack driving maze when ill husband changed his mind about making dinner after insisting I stop on the way home from getting car fixed to buy green peppers to make such dinner (I call it I want you to make me an egg in a certain way moment. My brother-in-law or anyone who has lived with someone who has cancer would understand the connection) no we go out to eat at said Tamerack driving maze with a near miss of head on accident.
The final challenge to pause was to son's home falling to 41 degrees with the threat of 9 degrees in the morning and of course it was after hours. Furnace is four years old and well maintained.
Oh I forgot about the woman in front of me at Target who just got a new credit card that didn't work. All my purchases were on the belt. I told her it wasn't all the extra wait it caused me it was her son who was waiting patiently who had a mask down at his throat who was coughing that concerned me. Yes I had plenty of practicing pausing and using Reiki techniques of clearing energy.
It was like the serenity episode of Seinfield. I admit I had my breakdown moment fortunately others were spared. No Humans were harmed during this episode not quite so sure for DrewB who was there at the breakdown. I did at least put her in her crate to keep her safe.
Then I remembered Buffalo under 6 feet of snow and those in Florida whose homes were destroyed. As I sat shivering with DrewB I thought of those in Ukraine with no power and no one to help them turn back on their heat. It did make me want to shake Putin's Russia and say STOP IT! I remembered the young couple who lost their premature baby this week. So yes I agree it is important to practice the pause.6 -
I admit I missed the last few pages so hugs to those who need them. Happy birthday and Happy Anniversary to those who were celebrating. Thank you to those who shared your wonderful pictures.
Thank you to my friends here you have helped in more ways than I say. Love you.

Rori- Thanks for the advice on the arnica! The bruising has turned a lurid purple now, so pretty...
Machka - Have to admit, never saw someone peeling a mango with a glass, thanks for the video! I had this vision in my head of someone beating the snot out of a mango using the bottom of the glass... Glad I watched the video!
Heather - Glad you're feeling somewhat better and taking care of yourself.
Margaret - Worried about you, is there a therapist you can talk to? You've had a couple of awful years, and throwing the holiday season in the mix doesn't help. So glad you're OK after your near miss.
Quiet weekend stretches out in front of us... Corey's really enjoying going grocery shopping alone, so I will just hand him a list and hope for the best. He spends more than I would, but he works hard for his money and deserves to enjoy some of it.
My "Christmas present" came in yesterday, a Fitbit Inspire 3. My old Charge HR 4 was getting so dim I couldn't see the screen. Come to find out it's a thing with that model and it's long past its warranty, so swapped to a different type.
Time to get the grocery list written up for Corey.
Love y'all,

I am not a fan of mangoes but my mother loved them. I remember that when I was a child and we lived in South Florida we had two mango trees in the yard and my mother said they were so juicy she should take her clothes off and eat them in the bathtub.

My favourite way of eating them is to almost wallow in them. 😀 I peel half and just start eating. And peel more as I go.
I end up with mango down my arms, in my hair, all over the place.
But in the interests of not having to have a shower after eating one, the glass method works well.
