Overall 2022 was a successful year for me. Unfortunately mid-Sept to now has had a few struggles, so if I dwell on that it feels negative, but I'm ending 2022 lighter than I started it, and I did have a good taste of maintenance for a good stretch there.
Proving to myself I can get back there in 2023 will be a great accomplishment

My Name is Donna, Age 62. I am 5’5” tall & I live in Northern Michigan USA
My mini-challenge is to lose 10 pounds by Easter 2023. I started my efforts on Dec. 10th weighing 198.4. My wish is to weigh 188.4 by Easter April 9th, 2023. That gives me about 4 months to lose 10 pounds. Sounds easy but, trust me, it won’t be. Especially when outside exercise is so limited for me this slippery time of year!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Day 36 – 1/1 - 145.4 - double ouch. I did eat some fun food and went into the red, but also they were salty, so I drank a great deal of water. Hoping that it is just that. I definitely did not eat 3 pounds of food.

Day 36 – 1/1 - 145.4 - double ouch. I did eat some fun food and went into the red, but also they were salty, so I drank a great deal of water. Hoping that it is just that. I definitely did not eat 3 pounds of food.
Day 37 – 1/2 - 144.6 - Yesterday was a write off for me. I had my second shingles shot Saturday afternoon and suffered all day Sunday with side effects. I barely got in any activity even though my plan was to get outside lots. Friday I am having a steroid shot into my ankle joint and have to stay off of my feet for 48 hours, hence the reason for really wanting to get out on the trails this weekend. All good, I would much rather not get shingles. I fit in just a few dance workout songs yesterday.

Well the scale is NOT pretty at all. My annual goal totally took a side trip in 2022.

🔹Journal Food Daily (tracking with MFP since 12/28/2018; basically skipped June-Dec 2019; recommit 1/1/2020; skipped out April-July 2020; recommit 8/6/2020; derailed in 2022; recommit 1/3/2023)
🔹Daily Vitamins (Dr’s orders; need to not ignore)
🔹Drink less alcohol (3 AF days per week; ~12-16 AF days per month; limit 1-2 glasses per day)

@Lilylady3k This sounds like a great plan. I think I will cut out candy (except my Russell Stover's Sugar Free), cookies and rice. I will keep bread for sandwiches or toast but I will use carb smart. I will limit potatoes and keep pasta in my meal plan also. Now that I am allowed, I will use my exercise bike daily, and I will dance a couple times per week in my livingroom. I am also going to look into couch yoga or couch exercising as I can't jump up & down anymore or get up & down off the floor. It's something for seniors and is an interesting concept that I'd like to try. I'll check youtube. I would also like to incorporate IF 16:8 if my sugar doesn't drop too low. I definitely have to lower the carbs so the carby items in my diet will be in careful porportions. My, it all sounds so easy on paper! Now, if I can just do it! 10 pounds, here we come! My Name is Donna, Age 62. I am 5’5” tall & I live in Northern Michigan USA
My mini-challenge is to lose 10 pounds by Easter 2023. I started my efforts on Dec. 10th weighing 198.4. My wish is to weigh 188.4 by Easter April 9th, 2023. That gives me about 4 months to lose 10 pounds. Sounds easy but, trust me, it won’t be. Especially when outside exercise is so limited for me this slippery time of year!

Day 36 – 1/1 - 145.4 - double ouch. I did eat some fun food and went into the red, but also they were salty, so I drank a great deal of water. Hoping that it is just that. I definitely did not eat 3 pounds of food.
Day 37 – 1/2 - 144.6 - Yesterday was a write off for me. I had my second shingles shot Saturday afternoon and suffered all day Sunday with side effects. I barely got in any activity even though my plan was to get outside lots. Friday I am having a steroid shot into my ankle joint and have to stay off of my feet for 48 hours, hence the reason for really wanting to get out on the trails this weekend. All good, I would much rather not get shingles. I fit in just a few dance workout songs yesterday.
Day 38 – 1/3 - 144.0 - Couldn't sleep last night. Quite worried about the shot in the ankle and the recovery time to get back to work. Short shift today at the restaurant but lots of Foster Grant jobs to do which might not get done. The pharmacist that gave me my second Shingles shot said that side effects would last 7 days, but I think that I didn't believe him since the first shot didn't affect me too much. I am feeling run down and like I have the flu/cold. Soldiering on. Split shifts the next 2 after this and I will not be allowed to move about after Friday morning, so I will get everything that I need in to the house during my work breaks.

@dawnbgethealthy - I think the shingles double shot was much more difficult than the 1 round of Covid shots. And that is saying something. But it is great that you made it a priority!!! Did you do the covid booster that came out in Sept this year? It was easy peasy ... no side affects for either DH or myself.2

Day 17: 12/12 - Up at 2:30am and did not weigh. Exposed to COVID but testing negative. Skipped cookie tasting party.
Day 18: 12/13 - 230.2 Headache all day and I was up yesterday at 2:30am with only 2 30min naps during the day. Too exhausted to make the right choice or exercise. Skipped book club holiday party.
Day 19: 12/14 - 230.2 Still testing negative for Covid at home but not feeling well. Plan to quarantine till Sunday which means skipping out on a number of holiday parties. Skipped ZTA holiday party.

Day 36: 12/31 - Got mom on a plane and her pipes did not freeze … no water leaks at the camp house! I paid someone to turn off the water and drain it due to the freezes … worth it since many of the community had issues.

Day 38: 01/02 - 231.9 - DD & family moved to her husband’s family’s home since it is closer to work and day care (in town) until the Houston inspectors can review the construction work to replace the pipes and reattach to city sewage.
Well the scale is NOT pretty at all. My annual goal totally took a side trip in 2022.

Decided that for January I will strive for lower carb days (not Keto) and cut out candy, cookies and bread but retain rice, potatoes and pasta in my menu planning.

My Name is Donna, Age 62. I am 5’5” tall & I live in Northern Michigan USA
My mini-challenge is to lose 10 pounds by Easter 2023. I started my efforts on Dec. 10th weighing 198.4. My wish is to weigh 188.4 by Easter April 9th, 2023. That gives me about 4 months to lose 10 pounds. Sounds easy but, trust me, it won’t be. Especially when outside exercise is so limited for me this slippery time of year!

I had a Shingles shot years ago, it was supposed to be one and done. 2012 I think that it was.
Anyway, the Pharmacist that I was talking to during my 4th Covid shot (same guy gave me my flu shot) and I discussed this and he said that what I received at that time was no longer very protective. Yes, the first Shingles shot in November didn't bother me at all, a bit of a sore arm only.
With the second shot he warned me of fatigue, nausea, fever, chills, headache, rash, and insomnia. That all came true, I woke (only slept 1/5 hours the whole night) with the rash yesterday, I had the shot on Saturday. My jaw has been sore the whole time.
This morning the rash (down the injection arm) is much diminished. I had a couple of drinks after work yesterday, and a sleeping pill before bed.
Gearing up now for my steroid injection into my ankle joint Friday. I am taking that day off and then have Saturday and Sunday off always. The first 48 hours are supposed to be awful. Getting all of my various ice packs and stuff into the freezer because only that and Tylenol are allowed to deal with the (extreme?) pain as the crystals from the steroid begin to form inside of the joint.
I have to stay off of it, so no cross country skiing, dance workouts, trail walks etc. I am such a perpetual motion girl, this will be new for me! Planning on just eating and watching HGTV. I have lots of food prepped into portioned containers in the freezer, and will pick up anything else that I need before I can't drive.
Local anasthetic wears off after 4 hours. I will take Tylenol before it wears off in order to stay ahead of the pain.
Outcome should present itself within 2-6 weeks.
An unexpected physical break for me for a few days is going to feel weird emotionally and mentally.2 -

Day 36 – 1/1 - 145.4 - double ouch. I did eat some fun food and went into the red, but also they were salty, so I drank a great deal of water. Hoping that it is just that. I definitely did not eat 3 pounds of food.
Day 37 – 1/2 - 144.6 - Yesterday was a write off for me. I had my second shingles shot Saturday afternoon and suffered all day Sunday with side effects. I barely got in any activity even though my plan was to get outside lots. Friday I am having a steroid shot into my ankle joint and have to stay off of my feet for 48 hours, hence the reason for really wanting to get out on the trails this weekend. All good, I would much rather not get shingles. I fit in just a few dance workout songs yesterday.
Day 38 – 1/3 - 144.0 - Couldn't sleep last night. Quite worried about the shot in the ankle and the recovery time to get back to work. Short shift today at the restaurant but lots of Foster Grant jobs to do which might not get done. The pharmacist that gave me my second Shingles shot said that side effects would last 7 days, but I think that I didn't believe him since the first shot didn't affect me too much. I am feeling run down and like I have the flu/cold. Soldiering on. Split shifts the next 2 after this and I will not be allowed to move about after Friday morning, so I will get everything that I need in to the house during my work breaks.
Day 39 – 1/4 - 143.4 - A good night's sleep is always favourable for weight loss I feel. As for pasta, I moved to nupasta and various other brands made from the root of Kanjac several years ago. I honestly can't tell the difference. I make it with: marinara meatballs, a mix of fresh garlic, shredded chicken, parmesan, and sour cream, peanut sauce made from the dried kind (90% less calories), shredded pork. Before finding this pasta I didn't really eat pasta at all. The entire package of it is 10 calories, so I pile on the meat, cheese and stuff. Perfect texture. I had experimented with Spaghetti Squash, but find it a bit too wet unless baked, and way more work than opening a package of Kanjac and giving it a rinse.
