    Good Wednesday from Ohio,

Pets- Since the passing of our two girls, I haven't yet decided on new ones to join us. Oh, I miss their love and comforting presence, but just haven't. One of the reasons is that my mother in law lived next door and loved our girls as much as we did. She took great care of them when we were at work or away. Now Sister in law lives next door, but is gone as much as we are. DH believes dogs belong at home. We have always had BIG dogs. Not sure when or if the right dogs would come along again. Would want 2 so that they could keep each other company.

Ditto this!!!! I dislike clothes for Christmas. I too am particular on styles, textures, and fit. I hate the whole experience of returning things, so usually it ends up in my closet for a few years and then donated. My DH also likes the gift giving. I had to give a friend a list so that she could assist him in shopping. He did good. I got more alpaca socks and two new terry cloth bathrobes (mine is 30 yrs old). He also bought me a Lenox music box that is a carousal with Santa and his sleigh. Yes, it is gently used, but he remembered that I liked our friend's. Oh, and I wear some form of boots all the time, never thought about them making me appear like a prostitute. BUT I do have a couple pairs of heels that could make one jealous! ;)

drkatiebug You look great and those pjs do look comfortable!
    Machka Love those boots!

Things changing in our lifetime- less check writing, less cash, over the air radio, traditional TV channels and shows, just dropping by friends houses for a visit without calling and planning ahead, cards and letters handwritten, dressing up for events, basic etiquette, thank you notes, home cooked meals. These are the things that come to mind.

Still working on progressive goals for the new year. Budget might need to be added, just so I have a plan in the event of early retirement.

    Time for yoga and breakfast.

    Love to all,
    Kylia

I'm not quite ready to make 2023 goals as it is not New Year's Eve yet :):) but these were mine for 2022.

They are loosely based on a Wellness Wheel, examples of which are at the bottom of this post. If you Google Wellness Wheel, you'll see lots.

I do plan to revise these a little bit in coming days.

    2022 Goals

My 2022 goals are a continuation of my 2021 goals.

    Upcoming Appointments
    Education/Career
    Medical
    House
    Office
    Computer
    Garden
    Spiritual
    Fitness/Sports
    Cycling
    Audax Tasmania
    Recreation

House > Office > Computer become more specific as they go along. I have a number of thing which need to be done in the house (sleeping room, dining room, etc.) but most importantly the home office needs a whole lot of work. And along with that I need to organise the drives on my computer into a better filing system.

The goal is to have an organised and decluttered house.

Fitness/Sports > Cycling > Audax Tasmania also become more specific as they go along. There are a number of fitness/sport things I'd like to try, with a focus on cycling, and a large part of my cycling endeavours includes my volunteer work with Audax Tasmania ... and maybe even riding some events again myself!

The goal it to improve my fitness level.

Garden is a very small category because that's my husband's domain but I'd like to finish weeding the place and get some flowers and other plants going to choke out the weeds.

The goal is to have a relaxing and functional area outside for reading, exercise and socialising.

Medical is mostly my husband's appointments, which I also need to attend because I'm his ears and cognition.

The goal is to keep him as healthy as he can be.

Education/Career ... little things like becoming really good at SQL, brushing up on VB, and learning data analysis software.

The goal is to expand my skillset.

I've got a new year to work with ... I've got a list of things to chip away at. If I just finish organising the sleeping room. If I just finish the weeding. If I only make a start at organising the files on my computer. If I just start working on things, I've made progress. :)

Included in all that is the following, probably under Medical.

One of the things I want to do is to go through this list or something like it. This is an American thing and wouldn't entirely work for us, but it could get us started.

    http://ssandifer.com/MyLoveList2015.pdf

Red Cross also has an Emergency Preparation Plan.

    https://www.redcross.org.au/prepare

I'm also considering Personal Medical Record Plans, a record of what I do in terms of housework, bill paying, etc., a list of online accounts we have and how to access them, and so on.

Kim--I understand how you feel about Levi. When we go out of town we have a friend that will come and stay at the house with our furbabies. Hope you have a nice New Year's day.
Ginny--Please share a picture of your new tattoo. I love penguins also.
Kylia--Sorry to hear about the new shop and know it is scary. Main reason I keep working is the insurance. With all that DH from the covid shot, most insurance will not take him or we have to pay a lot more. So here I am for at least a couple more years.
Going to be close to 50 degrees today and then snow and sleet for tomorrow. Gotta love it.
I am working on making some goals for 2023. Just hope I don't shoot myself in the foot by doing so.

:) We send checks to our grandchildren for their birthdays. How would we send them money if we didn't use checks?

I have my sons' account information in my online banking, and I transfer money and then let them know they have birthday money or Christmas money. That works for us, but it's not as personal.

    Lovely watercolors, Heather.

Machka- great news on all the stitches out- I still have some of the dissolveable ones in my nose- will be glad when they are gone. I think the enternal ones in my neck are there- has been hurting a lot more this morning as I try and do a few chores- Followup appointment is Friday morning
As for your question about dh- yes, he still wants me around, he doesn't seem to see there is much of a problem here. He was raised in a very negative/toxic/unloving home. He has no clue about a normal loving relationship is. That is a big problem for me because I was raised totally opposite of the way I was raised. My parents were married just 5 months of 65yrs when dad passed away. And dad would tell anyone who would listen about how blessed he was to have the love of his life for all those years. He showed her love every single day.
Love the boots- I have some close to it.
I wear boots a lot during the winter- most are my Dawgs- (like Uggs but cheap). Most are fur lined but one pair is rain boots with bright flowers all over them(70's style ;) )

Kim- I am sorry you are dealing with those issues with your mom.Sure doesn't make the holidays something to look forward to.
My MIL feels she can give stuff/money, and then all the nastiness from her over the year is wiped away. Money fixes everything in her mind-things are more important than treating people . In some ways, he is the same way- buys lots of stuff . I told him I don't want anything, I want him to spend more time with me. That seems so hard for him- buying is easy, giving of his time for something NOT for him, is very hard.
Your mom would really think I was a hooker with my choice of boots a few years ago-(the guys at the store sure did)- We were down in Tijuana- I told them I wanted red cowboy boots- I have other colors boots(haven't worn them in years but used to), they kept asking me about the color- I did end up with some cute red, fringed boots that went with my red fringed jacket or my black jacket.

Allie- thank you for posting all the pictures of Miles- I agree, his smile makes everyone smile, makes the day just a bit better.

Karen- those two are so cute!!

No rain today. Back in the morning and for the next three days.

If we wish to send funds to our sons, we get a visa card from Rite Aid. You can buy it in whatever increments you wish $20, $50 etc. You just pay with your debit card and they have to activate it when they receive it. There are visa cards you can add money to, but I hear they can be temperamental.

My son does this every month to pay for his portion of the rent. I only send the visa cards if I am sending cookies etc to my middle, and want to send something extra. I am not keen in sending them though the mail, because you can feel them in a card, and they are apt to be stolen. In a box they aren't noticed.

Rebecca - Lord, I hate surprises like that! I'm sorry your one kidney is kaput, but glad the other is taking the load. My father-in-law never had any issues with a similar kidney that quit working, and he had just one massive stone in that one and never had another. They left it there and it never gave him any problems.

Heather - Love the watercolors, all three, but especially the robins. Don't forget to date them on the reverse! You'll want to see your progression as you become even more adept.

Karen - Hope the birth is easy and all goes well for your newest family member. Will be thinking about all of you! :)

Tracey - Loved the pics of your Christmas!

Regarding cash gifts, I purchase Visa or MasterCard cards for the older grands so they can get what they want wherever they want, rather than having to spend them in a specific store. I'm sure within reason they've never seen a check. The "credit cards" make more sense for a lot of different reasons. I wouldn't have had the foggiest clue what to do with it at their age, but they certainly know! I've also sent my son cash through Google Pay, but am a little uncomfortable with that. :| Not even sure why.

I have loved seeing everyone's images so much this month - they really do contain thousands of words about our love for our surroundings and our families, both the four-legged and those with only two legs each. I feel as if I've lived with y'all, been part of your lives, and even seen into your hearts in some cases. This group is unique in my life, it always has been, and I am so grateful for y'all. <3

The weather's flip-flopped, we're at 60 degrees today, a little blustery, winds out of the south, and will edge up to nearly 70 tomorrow, then it looks like we're in mid-50s for the foreseeable future. I appreciate it...

Time to get some exercise done, and clean up the fireplace. Looks like we won't be needing it anytime soon...

    Later y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa

Worked but the plan for tomorrow is to do Denise austin’s Quick Burn Cardio DVD

DrKatie – remember when we were younger and no matter how comfortable something was, if it wasn’t fashionable, we didn’t wear it? Now we wear clothes a lot for comfort

Tatoos: When I turned 40 I thought it would be way cool to get a second piercing in my ear. Today I regret that decision. So I’m afraid to get a tatoo. I may think it’s cool today but in 10 years? That’s just me. Ginny – I’m looking forward to seeing a pic of your tatoo

Karen – great suggestion to Kim to buy her own gift! But I would suspect that her mother wouldn’t like it, no matter what it was and wouldn’t want to give it to her

Heather – I am very impressed with all the new things you are doing

Rebecca – I’m so sorry about your kidney. Will you have to monitor your protein intake?

The weather here is really weird. At Christmas time it was down in the 20’s. Now for Nyear’s it’s supposed to be up in the 50’s. Go figure!

One thing I realized while we were at Jess’ was that the pants I was wearing, I must have bought about 15-17 years ago and they still fit! To me, that was something.

Think I’ll go for my walk.

Enjoying your blog posts, Lisa. I'm gaining a much better idea of what you are up against. <3

Karen - Your wonderful swimmer warms my heart. Oh that photo of her doing the Butterfly, the stroke of the devil!
I think my son etc are hoping that Edie won't get too good at sports. It requires just as much dedication from the parents as the child. Unfortunately, Edie is determined and passionate. :p

Time for a read and sleep.
