Merry Christmas ladies!!
It is a very quiet Christmas. My first one not spending it with my mom. I will call her later this afternoon.
Son went to his girlfriend's last night beings we weren't doing anything. DH got up early to go take care of his mom. I wish he would tell her was coming an hour later once in a while so he could get an hour more sleep. Instead, he gets up and complains about it- very pissy mood when he got up because he was running late-He is also annoyed that he is having to do a few extra chores that I usually do but cant quite yet. So, I am here by myself, just like any other day.
Good part of having this surgery is I have a valid reason to not go to MIL's.
Back on the Norco for the pain but only 1/2 pills and only one more Keflex which I am thrilled about- not thrilled with they yeast infection I am now fighting because of them.
Dh picked up precooked food at the deli at the Safeway he works at so not cooking anything today. Son was going to help me cook a little but dh picked it all up- He will take food to his mom and then we will eat when he gets back I guess.
Here are two pictures- sorry, don't know how to use the spoiler to hide them for those who don't want to see them.
First one is right after surgery and the second was Friday after the bandages were off and I got a shower. The incision on my neck is what is hurting the most. It is hard to see in that picture but the incision is from just below my ear, almost to my chin.
Still sleeping propped up on the couch for a few more days. The cats are enjoying it- they all want to sleep with me.

Kylia- so glad to see you posting again
Barbara- hope you feel better soon.
Machka- wow- out riding already- I will get back out walking next week. Hoping my energy level comes back
Allie- I love the picture of the fireplace- That is my favorite part of my mom's house- Always has been. It is huge and made with hand picked river rock.
Love all the pictures of the cute kids-
I need to start taking notes when I read- there were more I wanted to comment on but can't remember now-

Quiet Christmas for me. Talked to my son for 2 hours last night. He was alone so called us. Talked to middle daughter during the day by accident. My Subaru’s radio is acting all weird right now. If I connect my phone, the radio randomly dials people, changes radio stations, and other weird stuff. Car dialed my DMD 6 times! Lol so, I had to call her for real and apologize, LOL. Did have a nice conversation with her though.
DH is making lamb for dinner which is about all we are doing for Christmas. Heard from friends and relatives this morning, so nice day overall. Plus, 2 days ago it was 19 degrees in the middle of the day, yesterday was 40, today is already 50!
Merry Christmas to all!

Have a great Christmas everyone12 -
Debbie - I think your nose looks good! You are healing rapidly .
Heather - great family photos. Every time I see your husband's smile doing family things and having fun with the grands, I wonder what his life would have been like if he'd never met you. I'm sure you've brought so much love and excitement into his world, more than he ever imagined.
Pip - so glad your 2 new furkids have become a part of your life so quickly.
Short pet story - when my DH was still here, Rosie would snooze on his chest and our old kitty would lay on the back of the sofa right above him. After he passed, kitty didn't come back into the house - she stayed in the shop where her food, water, litter box and bed is or would snooze on the bench outside the shop under the overhang where he used to sit and pet her. This past week, she has wanted back in the house again. She has decided the office chair is her new favorite spot and she stays there all day. Also, she comes to me to get petted and "talks" to me. This never happened before. She's 16.
Rosemarie - these are my "cleats" - I got them many years ago. Basically pull on over shoes for walking on ice. The parking lot where I used to work often was covered with black ice in the winter so these saved me many a spill. They were LOTS cheaper when I bought them!
On the agenda for this afternoon since it's close to 50f - attempt to start the lawn mower and run it a few minutes to keep the battery charged. Want to get it into the shop before mowing season to get it serviced and blades sharpened and/or replaced. If it doesn't start, I'll borrow my neighbor to help get the trickle charger hooked up. This time I'll pay attention so I can do it myself next time.

UPDATE - mower started right up, I pulled it out of the shop and let it run for about 10 minutes. A hearty "thank you" to the god of lawn equipment, similar to the "thank you" every time I go into the garage and thank my old cars for getting me where I need to go. Doesn't get any better than this.9 -
I am waiting for DD to come for me. We will be going to see family from England. I haven’t met them before, and look forward to meeting them.6

Thanks Lanette- Love your kitty story- Since I have been stuck on the couch each night, I have had extra cats hanging out with me. Most nights there are three.Very little room for me and boy does it get warm. Even if I didn't want them on me, they stay there anyways.2

Rita - Considering where you live, it's not surprising that your radio and phone are inexplicably acting up. I think I saw this on X-Files!
Be on the lookout for the Men in Black
Seriously, this is intriguing. I miss Art Bell.

Merry Christmas!
Debbie ... glad to see that your surgery is healing well. Continue to use your nose as an "excuse" as long as you can! I would.
Katla ... besides VitaminD, aren't you the one who used special lamps during the winter as well?
Lanette ... my husband is sound asleep in his chair and our chocolate lab is sound asleep on top of him. Both are snoring.
Machka ... "balanced the checkbook to the penny." I use this phrase to mean exactly what it says. Reconciling the bank's statement with my checkbook "register" (which is an excel spread sheet). I always want the numbers to be exactly the same and while the excel program takes out mathematical errors ... I don't always input my numbers correctly so have to work at finding where I made mistakes.
Lisa ... the weather outside is not "delightful" that's for sure! Blizzard conditions, wind and snow, hit my hill early Friday and then shifted slightly north for the better part of Saturday. We had had a lot of wind on Saturday, but not much snow. My mother's facility took a direct hit from the blizzard Friday night into Saturday but everyone was fine. Then the storm shifted a little bit further north on Saturday and just pummeled that area. Yesterday, the storm started making its way south again. (Think of a windshield wiper going back and forth and that's what this storm band looks like on radar. Just a degree or two shift can put us in or out of a storm's path.) While we are no longer under a Blizzard warning, we are in the middle of another Lake Effect snow storm. Probably getting at least an inch of snow per hour. We have have been under a travel ban since Thursday evening. People complain about these bans, but the reality is that when you have blizzard conditions or whiteout conditions, no one can rescue you because no one can see you. Plows actually hit people that were off the road because they were buried under snow or they couldn't see them and people have died in this storm because they were stranded in their vehicles in sub-zero temperatures with no one to rescue them. I'm not sure how much snow we've received so far ... reporters said over 3 feet early this morning and it's been snowing heavily all day.
My husband spent 2 hours trying to get the driveway to a point that we could get out in an emergency. I found him on the front porch and had to laugh ... he was whacking Joseph in the head and he had baby Jesus upside down and was shaking him ... my poor little nativity people were covered in snow!
Everyone in this area is in the same boat ... all at home with their immediate families ... and while I would have liked to have seen my mother today (who's having her first Christmas without my dad) ... we're ok.

Merry Christmas to all!
Did manage to go check on our son's house. Fortunately all who were out drove at about 20 mph on our icy streets. Glad I stayed at home last night. You could see the remnants of accidents at intersections!2 -
My brother's wife had a birthday today and her mom passed away during the night. Sad for them.

Hello ladies!
We had a lovely Christmas brunch at my aunt's house. It was easier for her than a full dinner and just as delightful for us. Everything was great except for the curried raisin fruit dish, which I didn't care for. I made banana bread which turned out well. I started it a bit early but had to cook it extra, and it was just warm when I took it over.
My cousins were drinking a bit, but I didn't join them this time.
So now is the time to start my health kick! Well, strictly I guess I had chocolate balls for dinner. But then I had four glasses of water, and I should be done eating for the day.
I need to talk to my dad who likely has his puzzle set up so I can't walk in the basement. There should be room for us both.
So ends another very Merry Christmas!

4141 today, 12/25/94’ Lenny had an epileptic seizure and we spent the day in the ER. Memories are always there.
Went to my sisters home, mom came. There were a couple of blankets for the dogs and there was an envelope inside that included $400 cash. I gave it to my sister and told her to sneak it back to her, i didn’t want it. In talking to her and my brother, she can’t afford to be giving away $$ like that. When she called me today, I just told her thank you, I didn’t tell her that I didn’t accept it to avoid any further discussion.8 -
Pip ...yes, the memories are always with us ... hugs
Debbie ... I got to thinking about my response to you to "use your nose as an excuse." You shouldn't have to do that. Your family should be sensitive to your recent surgery and should be seeing to your needs without being asked. I'm sorry that they aren't. A while back, maybe a few years ago, this group discussed how we should act the way we want others to treat us ... to make our expectations known (or words to that nature). I think it was Rebecca that said she wore a crown/tiara for a while so her guys would know how she wanted to be treated. I remember doing the same thing, and while my guys laughed at me, I didn't take it off either and they got the point. It's easy for others to take us for granted or take advantage of us if we project that bad behavior is acceptable. I'm not saying this well and the rest of the group will have to help me out here, but my point is ... you deserve to be treated well... because you're Debbie and you're worth it. I'm sending you big virtual hugs.
Beth
