I bought compression socks for DH. For now I am keeping them to wash. I’ve been advised to talk with the nurses who have been working with him. He has complained that his compression socks have disappeared.
I stopped into the nurses station but wasn’t able to chat with any of the nurses. They’re very busy. I’ll stop by again. Washing now makes sense to me.

I have not tried drying my dill. I freeze it. Take it out when I need it, use scissors to cut just what I need and pop it right back in the freezer- tastes very close to fresh.
I do dry my catnip. Have a huge netted air dryer for it(8 shelves I think) Need to find a new place to hang it. The catio addition is where it used to hang, from the basketball hoop-yep-it is massive. The one time I got something from Amazon that is bigger than expected.
When cooking the beans or any meats in the pressure cooker, let it do a natural release. Food is more tender and never any steam. I do almost everything that way. Just do quick release on some veggies. Soups I just do natural too which is great because that is where you get tons of steam.

Seafood for dinner tonight.
Crab salad- Costco has their fresh crab for 5.99 a pound. Just got done cracking out two crabs.

edit:- dh wants pasta instead of salad. That is fine he, ds and ds' girlfriend all love pasta. more salad for me.
Have some banana rolls proofing- used the pressure cooker without a yogurt button to do the first rise on the bread. never tried it before. messed up a bit. Thought it was 5 min that I set it for but it was 5 hours- noticed after 20 min. Hope they come out. This is all a first for me. New recipe and new technique

Looks like a nice apartment, and they're all acclimating well. View is magnificent! Pigs cheeks, that I have never had before, but I have had pork belly slices in ramen. Cooked slow it melts in your mouth.

Katla- my advice on that is get a permanent marker and depending on the color of his clothes and socks ,mark them all with his name.. and if you can and have the wherewithal to do his laundry. Do it,then you will know where his laundry goes..
It was very hard to keep up with my FILs clothes
Went up to Susans. We had cauliflower crust pizza,and Trudy made this awesome salad ,i had 3 helpings ,had pears,raisins,apple,mint and it was delish..

Machka- While my job is mentally frustrating due to the "lack of adult interaction"; I don't miss those coworkers/managers who complain about everything. They certainly can make a work environment toxic. I like the way you have responded to her b**ching, though. Mature; plus not replying gives her nowhere to go.

There are two types of people ... haha ... that sounds like the beginning of a joke.
There are, of course, many types of people but two of those are:
People who like to tick boxes and get things done. And even if the project isn't 100% perfect, at least something is done, a functional thing has been created. Then, after it has been used for a little bit, there can be additional projects to broaden the functionality or to make it work better.
People who like to keep working on something and tweaking it and changing it and with the idea that if something is going to be created, it has to be 100% perfect and all encompassing and interconnected
I'm the first type. She's the second type.
It's probably why I enjoy going to school and have been going to school for the past 50 years! I can do an assignment ... and it's done. Move on to the next one.
So my proposed project (at the request of my managers) completes one certain aspect of what she's been thinking about, tweaking, changing etc. (but never completing) for the past decade and that has upset her. I understand. But the department really needs this now ... and I prefer a more professional discussion about it. After all, we are supposed to be professionals.
Anyway, it has got me to thinking about those two types and whether there's a bit of the second type in me too, and perhaps that's why I have such trouble organising my home office. I've got the idea in my head that it's got to be perfect rather than getting it to a functional stage and then perfecting it in a series of smaller projects.

I had a good day. I spent time with DH & he is tucked into bed for the night.
Earlier, I went shopping at Walmart with our daughter and her older son. It went well enough. I’m happy to be back to my place.

Worked then bought gas, went o Michael’s to see about aida cloth, then to Belk’s to use my coupon before it expired and to get Jess some towels. Made chicken and a meatloaf for us to have next week (and for the freezer). We’re supposed to go to a dinner/dance with the Newcomers tonight. To me, it sounds a lot like last year, but we shall see. I hope they don’t do the exact same thing every year.
Deb – I really think that the worst part of cooking ribs is taking that sheath off.
KJ – I love reading all about the kiddos and seeing their pictures
The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD for the rebounder

Rosemarie – you know, sometimes it’s good to send Christmas cards in January. For one thing, if someone doesn’t send you a card, you don’t feel an obligation to send one to them, thereby making your list shorter. Also, if someone receives a card in January, it’s more appreciated. You can really look at the card. (((HUGS)))
Kelly – I wanna join in the fun, too. The absolute best part is….I’m potty trained!!!!!!!!
The Newcomer Holiday party was OK. They (for some reason) served all the fish plates (that’s mine) first. Everyone else at our table had the beef so I waited until everyone was served before I ate. I realize that they don’t have a complete staff and there were almost 100 of us. So it overwhelmed the kitchen probably and staff. In all, it was nice as can be. The place does need acoustic work. They had a guy playing the sax and it was very loud, reverberating a lot.

Michele- I don't worry about taking the membrane on the ribs- cooking in the pressure cooker or super long, low and slow in the oven. I just cook a little longer and it comes off after it is cooked.

Kudos to your ability to stay calm in a crisis and “just keep going”. It reminds me of medical emergencies I’ve helped with. Maintaining your aplomb during a white knuckler is, I believe, largely an innate skill, and difficult to acquire or learn because: adrenaline. Adrenaline affects people differently. Some people get more calm and focused (similar to a person with ADHD taking Adderall), and some people, perhaps most, experience a panicky, sweaty, fight-or-flight, jump-out-of-the-skin type of reaction. It’s hardwired!

I could not begin to imagine the opportunities I would have here in Geezer City - I have joined the Woodcarvers group and this little cadre of old men didn’t bat an eyelash when I said I wanted to learn, just told me which knife to buy (just one to start) and told me when I come back they’d have something ready for me to start on - a bird, I think. I do 2 water exercise classes most mornings, and if I have enough time after working at the other house for a few hours, I sometimes play games of various types like cards or dominoes, and there is a Yarn Arts group that meets on Sundays - the women are invaluable help for knitting, crocheting, embroidery, etc. Food is readily available in 2 dining areas, and the food is delicious.
Vicki, You lost your oldest and the baby you were carrying? I don’t think I remember this. I am so sorry. And your parents were thoughtless and disrespectful. You are a survivor. (((Hugs)))
Heather, I suspect your ex’s hurt feelings and your discombobulation over him contacting you are the Universe telling you it’s time to start on that saga next - you don’t have to publish it yet if that doesn’t feel comfortable. Just write it.
Carol, What Heather said about the pizza. I vote for changing your food plan to include an entire pizza on occasion. Life is short and guilt is deadly. People individualize their food plans all the time - to include chocolates, alcohol, and yes, on occasion, an entire pizza if you wish. If you make it part of the overall plan you can say goodbye to being eaten away by guilt.

Lanette,There was a man in our old neighborhood who did exactly the same thing out in the woods near the house. Happened about 5 years ago. And...my own father killed himself with a rifle while alone in the house within a week of being released from the hospital. It was heartbreaking.
Lisa, You must be feeling better with your bone marrow producing. Anemia causes such profound fatigue. Congrats on the weight loss. I wonder why your doctor is worried, though - what is your current BMI? I’m guessing it is about 29, which is not too low. Maybe she’s afraid you’ll keep wasting away, lol.

Yesterday I went to a movie (“Dog") in the little theater here in our community. It was excellent. The woman beside me slept.
Aurora Rose-Cameron and LillyBell had lots of company yesterday. My spouse and I went over to their house, and the paternal grandparents had just arrived via Amtrak from NH. The girls had no shortage of grandparents to play with and cuddle with.

Karen - more about the rapidity of the weight loss without trying, I think. I'm 5'2", and was at 161 in late Nov when she saw me last, and at 149 when I spoke to her on the phone. Dropped from 29.4 to 27.4 BMI, over the holidays, and me eating like a lil' piglet.
There's just something going on with all this that is (or was) keeping my body from absorbing calories. I'm hoping the increase in the iron stores will become the base platform that will support the rest of the nutrients in absorbing like they should. I've been at 149 to 151 pounds now for three weeks, one of my longest stalls in a year or more.
Up most of the night, just not able to sleep. I see a Sunday afternoon nap in my future!

1 Sit in silence for three minutes... it's harder than you think. Does silently working in the garden count? Done! I sat silently for 7 minutes and prayed.
2 List 5 things using each of your senses. Right now? I can see my Christmas decorations, I can hear Christmas songs, I can taste my coffee, I can smell my coffee, and I can feel a comfortable temperature in the room.
3 Let go of at least 5 items in your house. I'm not in a downsizing or reducing mode so I've taken some lunch things to work, I will take an item to be mailed and another to be given to the people at work.

5 Move for at least 30 minutes today. Absolutely. It's a very rare day that I don't.

My skin cancer surgery went better than expected and all my margins are clear.
I've been able to hold my granddaughter.

This past week I've ...
attended 4 medical appointments, all my own.
took care of a couple medical things for my husband.
finally got in touch with my kidney specialist.
worked a full 5 days.
completed an 80+ page Project Plan at work for review.
made progress on a database restructure at work.
ordered groceries twice.
did two loads of laundry and hung them.
took down the Christmas decorations.
touched up the bathroom - cleaning.
worked on my dry stream. I'm at the touching up phase now and then it's planting and decorative work.
checked the bees with my husband. That means donning our jackets and hoods and opening the hive.
did lots of walking.
climbed a number of stairs.
finished reading a book.
finished a colouring page and started a new one.
Hmmm ... I thought there might have been more. This doesn't look like as much as usual.
Oh well.
I'm hoping to get more exercise in this week.

Spent time with our daughter & grandchildren. We watched Jr High basketball. Our granddaughter is a cheerleader. I enjoyed watching.
We also went shopping. After dinner I spent the evening with DH. ❤️8 -

Am trying a couple new things with the bread dough I made earlier this morning and is in it's first proofing now. I ordinarily make 15 sandwich rolls, and the recipe I have is your basic white bread. I got some wheat bran to add to the dough, which Corey and I both love, it adds a nice nuttiness to the finished product. Not sure why I hadn't thought of it, I used to make it that way all the time when we lived on the ranch.
Of the 15, I'm going to make 10 stuffed meat and cheese rolls--five ham and cheddar and five pepperoni, salami and mozzarella. The last five will be sandwich rolls. We'll see if they will proof well and if it changes the overall bake. Should be interesting.

Karen ... love the photos! Your advice to Carol is spot on. Yesterday, while visiting my mother, we were doing some online shopping for new clothes. My mom has lost a significant amount of weight in the last year. There area multiple reasons for this ... age (91), chronic digestive issues similar to Lisa's, grief, traumatic change, etc. But we were talking about all the years she deprived herself and dieted ... she was a lifetime WW member. What was it all for? She was skinny as child/young adult and she will leave this earth skinny as well.
Then she had a piece of chocolate.
