ugh! The string to the drapery pull broke. I have taken the drapery rod down and have new string I ordered from Amazon. I have someone who is going to try and string the rod for me and I have looked at doing this on U-TUBE. Meanwhile the curtains are getting wrinkled despite efforts to lay them out. Probably a good time to have them cleaned anyway. I'll be glad when this project is over!

Karen in Va-thanks for the sharing of your experiences. Your experience is similar to my line of thinking. I would also plan on doing community volunteer work. While I may start out at the "younger" end-I will only progress! Plus I look forward to learn from the wisdom of some older than me (if that makes sense). Lillie Bell looks like such a happy child (and beautiful)-and dad looks rather proud!
Lisa-I can see why doctor would question weight loss, but with what your body has been through it is not surprising you would do something different. Stalling out for three weeks is probably a good sign. Getting your iron up will not doubt be very helpful. I think we all go through the "piglet" stage-but when I look at mine realistically-it is piglet compared to how I normally eat-but nothing compared to how I used to eat!
Beth-I love your mother eating her cake! My mother watched her diet carefully the last 15 or so years of her life. She was never obese but tried to watch cholesterol, etc. In her mid 80's, while going through her second bout of breast cancer, she sat at her table and said wistfully "I would love a bacon sandwich." I looked at her and said "What difference does it really make now?" We went and bought bacon. She didn't go crazy with eating her last two years, but she would have something if she really wanted it.
Loosing clothes at nursing homes-I know some of that legitimately happens and it is best if family can do laundry. It reminded me of my MIL-she was always complaining that her bras were being stolen. I could understand people maybe taking some newer clothes-but bras and underwear? When she died and we were packing up her stuff, I was amazed at the places she found to hide bras in her limited space-they were is shoes, in snack boxes and I don't remember where else!
Went out for walk as soon as light. Snow coming down pretty steadily. They are calling for anywhere from 2-4" so who knows. From the closings it looks like over towards Kylia's area they are getting more, but since she lives west of me-I could see more! Going to go put some turkey chili in the crock pot.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio7 -
Karen -((( Hugs! Didn't know that. ))) Thanks for your suggestion of writing about it. I'm gestating a poem right now about last week, but you are right, the time will come. He does get some air time in Memory Boxes, but not enough to do that huge part of my life justice. Love the photos!
DH has gone off to see his daughter. I decided not to join them as they wouldn't be eating till very late for me and I just do feel a bit hibernatory. Having a quiet day is good sometimes. Some days I just need to sink into myself, like I did when I was a teenager. For lunch I had rice and refried beans and an enormous Mexican type salad! I'm now completely stuffed. A light supper tonight. DH will probably have fish and chips at the restaurant.
Here is a photo DDIL took of us yesterday.
Love to all, you are always in my thoughts.

Good Sunday!
Still Snowing.... At many times today I haven't been able to see the back tree line from my bedroom. They initially were calling for 1-2" now up to 3-5 inches. Tuesday night another 1-3 in. Wednesday another 1-2 in. Maybe we will sell some snowblowers! I had loose plans to take a friend shopping today, but we knew it depended on the snow, so change of plans! Comfy clothes and warm blankets! And paperwork-ugh! Hopefully will get caught up on that.
Yesterday was a great day! Work was good. Got a few things done. After work, picked up DH's new glasses. Went to Walmart to get me jeans (no luck only had skinny ones), spray paint-yes, avocados-yes, evaporated milk-no. So a 50% run. Then we went out to dinner. We each got something different, then shared and brought home leftovers. Yummy! We spent the evening watching two episodes of Walker Independence that we had recorded. Finished the evening talking with a friend. Great day!
Karen I am so glad you are finding activities in your new community.
I had better get something accomplished today. Barrett-Jackson auction actually starts on TV tomorrow, so evenings will be car watching. Will have to fit in steps in there.
Stay safe and warm (or cool)!
Make the Best choice you can at the time!
Remember that one bad choice doesn't have to be a slippery hill. It is just a tumble, stand back up, brush off, and learn.
Hugs!
Prayers!
Lots of love!
Kylia staying warm and dry in snowy Ohio!

It has been snowing here today in Illinois. Looking out of my window I can see snow falling but the grass is still green & the driveway is wet. So far the snow isn’t sticking.3

CONGRATULATIONS Debbie! WOAH! You definitely deserve time off.
When you say "your son's rental apartment" Heather, does that mean where he's living or just where he's staying temporarily? That view is gorgeous. What a great sunset walk. Edie's cake was GREAT!
OMGosh Allie, I love Miles hugging the unstuffed BAB! Too precious!
That is really cool, Machka. I'd never know about the climate in Aus or Taz and I do have other friends there. Thanks.
OMG M, you and I would get along great. I'm the same way. I need to get things DONE! That's why I get so frustrated when I send out emails and people don't read them, or don't read ALL of them (an answer only part of them). I do my job, why can't they? "After all, we are supposed to be professionals." And THEY'RE licensed! I'm just a peon. (yes, I have a degree, but not in education)
Belks! Omgosh Michele... that brings back some memories. My aunt and uncle actually knew the family. We met them when we were SC years ago. What a wonderful store. Reminds me of our Daytons stores up here for years. Makes me sad that they sold out to Marshall Field's/Macy's.
Karen, I think you missed your calling! Beautician is definitely in your wheelhouse!
Not snowing in MN today, Kylia, but we have the beautiful hoarfrost again!

Yesterday walked 9.021 steps. Went to PO, then home dealing with a LOT of camper issues, but nothing I couldn’t fix. There is a camper here on her way to Quartsite for a birthday. I thought for a while it was our friend but they are going there for different reasons.

Carla - The family's house is being totally renovated and the kitchen extended and gorgeously refurbished. Huge job! So they had to rent somewhere for 6 months while it is all being done. They were so lucky to find this place, more or less at the last minute. The owner is hoping to sell, so only wanted to rent it out until the early summer. The bathrooms and kitchen are a little tired, but it is wonderfully warm! Their own house was freezing, but they are hoping that will be put right with new underfloor heating. They just love being warm!
DH texted me to say he ended up in a restaurant chain called Wahaca. And is now having wine with his daughter's friends on the seafront. He is easily led! Last time they went dancing to live music in a pub.
So glad I'm at home! He will have to cook his own scrambled eggs for supper. I'm having a cinnamon and raisin bagel, with cheese, onion, and arugula.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Carla- yes he Miles gives lovies to his stuffies ,His favorite is Cowie..

Sunday is going well. I squeezed by with eight calories to go after dinner. Yay! Mostly I found a leaner cut of beef to serve.
And then I will walk a bit later, so I get to choose whether to have a little something for dinner.
I took a single Motrin last night, and that was enough to keep me asleep despite a little soreness. My knee is doing fine, just talking to me a little bit climbing the stairs. So all in all, a great day for me! ( With apologies and condolences to the people of Monterey Park where it's a terrible day)

It must feel like taking a deep breath for the first time in a long time.Lisa, You must be feeling better with your bone marrow producing. Anemia causes such profound fatigue. Congrats on the weight loss. I wonder why your doctor is worried, though - what is your current BMI? I’m guessing it is about 29, which is not too low. Maybe she’s afraid you’ll keep wasting away, lol.
Karen - more about the rapidity of the weight loss without trying, I think. I'm 5'2", and was at 161 in late Nov when she saw me last, and at 149 when I spoke to her on the phone. Dropped from 29.4 to 27.4 BMI, over the holidays, and me eating like a lil' piglet.
There's just something going on with all this that is (or was) keeping my body from absorbing calories. I'm hoping the increase in the iron stores will become the base platform that will support the rest of the nutrients in absorbing like they should. I've been at 149 to 151 pounds now for three weeks, one of my longest stalls in a year or more.
Up most of the night, just not able to sleep. I see a Sunday afternoon nap in my future!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR
Now Lisa you aren't by chance extra thirsty, or have "cotton mouth" do you? I know unexplained weight loss is a side effect of being diabetic. Also some blurred vision. All of these things husband has. But its been getting better.👍🏻

Ooh HIBERNATORY! I like this word. That explains me. I like the quietness of my huge home, and the blank walls here and there. Like physical representations of a long intake of breath and blowing out. MMM-AHHHH.

Today is fridge, and freezer soup! I have some white beans I need to use up in the fridge. Then I will use up two link pieces, (I pre cut my kielbasa sausage into one oz segments), some frozen cheese ravioli squares (maybe 5), Jimmy Dean's sausage bits 1/4 cup, chicken stock cubes, and a handful of cavatappi noodles. I am going to start the soup off with frying up the sausages in 1 T butter, some chopped yellow onion, and mushrooms. Then will boil the cavatappi, and ravioli in another pot. I will add the beans and chicken stock to the onion mixture and simmer slowly. After the pasta is done I will add it to the pan. I then normally add a sprinkle of turmeric, cayenne pepper, course pepper, and Old Bay. Then let everything get happy in the pan. Then before serving I splash in some half & half. Should be yummy.

Rebecca - That is my kind of food.
DH home. Just pleased to have connected with his daughter, even though it wasn't quite what he planned!
He has just listened to me talking (again) about the effect my ex's intervention had on me. He doesn't really understand it, but he did his best. I don't altogether understand it either, but I know it has something to do with my father.
I am a very fortunate woman.

Rebecca - Unfortunately, at least three of the medications I'm taking cause dry mouth, so it's not easy to tell. Dehydration is also always an issue for those who've had a gastric bypass, so I drink water all day long. Helpfully, though, the VA docs are testing my fasting blood glucose every few months and no issues have shown up. My mother was diagnosed with diabetes at 60 years old, so I do ask them to keep an eye on it. Thank you for thinking of me, dear heart. Hope Lee is continuing his healthy ways.
Your soup sounds like something Corey would love!
Heather - Just finished Where Am I? and filed a review. On to Memory Boxes...

Lisa, can you share your recipe. I made, for the first time, a banana yeast roll recipe yesterday.
Lots of first so wasn't perfect but has me wanting to bake more bread. The smell was amazing.
Former hubby keeps talking about all the bread he bakes every week.
I found I can use my pressure cooker for proofing even though mine doesn't have the yogurt button(next time I know to set my own timer because I thought I set it for 5 min but it set for 5 hours. noticed it after 20 min).Supposed to have it on warm for five minutes then turn it off, leaving the dough in until it has doubled in size.
Another trial part was, the light on the front of the oven so I can see the temperature is very dim. DH was supposed to fix it over 6 months ago but didn't. Now the part is not available and because of the odd size we need, only one is available and is $2,000. The same exact one we have that we paid $800 for. I ordered a oven thermometer so I can just see how hot it is and no more guessing. At night, with no sun coming in the window, I can see the numbers ok, just not during the day.
Another bit was the recipe was a video, not written, so I watched it four times to make sure I wrote everything down.
With all these little challenges, the rolls came out pretty good.
I have two more bananas ready to use so want to make another batch.

Went to church for the first time in two months(last time was the day before I had my little accident).
Had a revival preacher who has been there before. He is good but ran over and then our pastor kept talking- instead of one hour it was an hour and forty minutes.
Making katsu style fried chicken today. Getting out the big old meat tenderizer to get it super tender plus makes it cook faster(and I know it is done on the inside and not over cooked on the outside).
DH wants his for a sandwich, I want mine on salad, not sure what son and his girlfriend will want. May just make some veggies to go with it or they can have it with the left over pasta from last night.

Debbie,
Yeast Rolls for Sandwiches or Filled Rolls:Bread – full recipe (taken from Mama’s recipe)
3 to 4 tbsp yeast in 1 cup of warm water, with pinch of sugar, proof.
2 cups milk or buttermilk if you want tangy rolls (warm to room temp in microwave)
2 large eggs
2/3 cup of oil
4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
6 to 8 cups of flour (bread flour or all-purpose flour)
Whisk oil, salt, sugar, milk, to get salt and sugar dissolved while yeast proofs.
Add yeast, water mixture after it comes to a head. Add six to seven cups of flour until it becomes a big, mass, pulling away from the sides of the bowl.
Let it knead in the bowl for ten minutes, pull out onto a board/countertop with enough flour to make it not stick, form into a smooth ball. Clean and oil the mixing bowl, add a bit of oil to keep bread from sticking, put the dough back in it, put it in a warm place, covered with plastic wrap, until dough doubles.
Punch down the dough, form rolls or loaves, let them rise ‘til double.
Bake in 375 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until brown, for rolls. Loaves need to be in for as much as 30 minutes. Cover with foil if they get too brown.
Half-recipe (makes about 15 rolls).
2 tablespoons of yeast (or 1 packet-ish) with pinch of sugar in 1/2 cup water.
1 cup milk or buttermilk
1/3 cup of oil
1/8 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1 cup of wheat bran (optional)
3 to 4 cups of flour
For filled rolls, when it comes to time to shape them, flatten roll dough into a small disk, put filling in the middle, gather the dough up over the filling, pinch all edges together, and turn the pinched edges to the underside, let rise, bake the same as with the regular rolls. Fillings can be ham and cheese, pepperoni and mozzarella.
I tend to use the half recipe, and it is more than Corey and I can use in two weeks... Enjoy!

Did a DVD for the rebounder today. Just bowling tomorrow and I hope to get out to walk some. Went to WalMart because Vince saw that the Girl Scouts were selling their cookies there today. But they weren’t there. I’m guessing because it’s cold (well, for here, I think it’s in the 40’s) and rainy
Karen VA – (((HUG))) Love Lillybell’s smile
