So happy to hear from you Tracey.
Those financial loan people are criminals. I hope the lawyer is able to sort something out. (((HUGS)))
Had a Waitrose delivery after lunch. Dinner is salmon fillets with leek and fennel in crême fraiche. I've prepped and pre-cooked the veggies, ready to put the salmon and crême fraiche in later.
There is a teacher's strike on Wednesday. My son quickly nabbed two morning places at the Art Club's emergency sessions, but he has to work over lunch, so we will collect the girls at midday, give them lunch, and keep them until around 2.30. No problem. I have a Zoom at 4 and normally it's our painting day, but it's all fine. We are painting on Thursday afternoon at the Pottery place! We have Edie this Saturday for painting anyway.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
I woke up with a grumpy tummy, and have taken two Imodium Softgels. I hope they solve the problem asap.
I watched old westerns on TV with DH last night . He was sleeping when I peeked in this morning. I’ll check in on him a bit later.4 -
Hello my name is Sandy I'm from Ky and I've been doing MFP for almost 4 months now. I struggle eating things I need to do so does anyone on here that can help me with what you eat to keep your blood sugar down?
The first thing I did was to change what I was buying. I buy everything I can with no added sugar. For soups and other things I get things with low sodium.
Also, I read all the labels for ingredients and I don’t get things that have sugar or high fructose in the first three ingredients.
Sounds a little silly, but it’s a trick that our work nutritionist taught us when I was still working.
The other thing I do is, I look back at every meal to see how it effects my nutrition totals for the day. I can always tweet dinner and snacks if I need to.

Beth - hoping your family is getting over the crud - you continue to feel well, DH doing better, your son breezing through it.
Rosemarie - these Facebook cooks making high protein dishes aren't doing anything we can't find ourselves in cookbooks or online recipe sites, except they present it in interesting videos, "cooking show" style and I need that type of inspiration these days.
I ran across another one - B. Dylan Hollis. He's not into high protein or anything necessarily healthy, but he has such a fun and animated way of presenting old recipes. I'm tempted to try the Almond Joys! Here he is:
https://www.facebook.com/B-Dylan-Hollis-116998881272043/
I can see him getting his own TV show.

Yippee! For the first time in decades my BMI was below 27 today. Started MFP in 2008 at ~165 lbs, plateaued in the mid 140s for years, last summer started to see marginal improvements, down to 133.4 this morning. Hoping tomorrow’s monthly average will show improvement over December. Made >7K step goal yesterday too, Yay me!!!
Welcome back @nanerkay Sandy from KY. Good to see you again, come back often.
Karen in VA sending “man up” vibes to your ex for your meeting(s). Stick to your guns, gal.
Heather sorry to hear your body is saying no to the 5k. Will it allow you to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather?
Teri “Me too!” Truth this.
Viv a short session is SO much better than no session at all.
Kylia would you remind me what happened at the last party?
Tracey That “mortgage” sounds like the most evil of scams. You are an angel to your in-laws. ((hugs)) about your mom.
Lanette Joe’s clock is similar to Rosie’s. up at one, oatmeal at 2, 2nd breakfast at 10:30, lunch if any at 1. Not mine (up between 5 and 7, breakfast at 10:30, “linner” at 4ish, bed whenever sleepy for 5 hrs, then up to p and compute till sleepy again.
A little early for my breakfast but don’t want to waste this glorious day. C-c-cold breeze so I’ll layer up.
Lighter, lovelies!

(((hugs))) to those who need them. I'm sort of out of ideas to share. I haven't been in your shoes, so I can't say exactly, except DON'T let yourself be a doormat. What others have said. VALUE YOURSELF. Aside from dealing with teenage and young adult children issues, Freddy and I have been "happily" married for 42 years, this year and don't have the "ex" issues to deal with, so I have no idea what that's like.
I can add, what Rita mentioned about "giving them a wake-up call" might be the ticket. Sometimes that's all a person needs to see the light. I did that once, when Freddy and I were first married. Set things straight right off. He's an only child, so wasn't used to conflict and didn't like "fighting", so to speak. Avoided conflict, at all costs. So, we couldn't work out any kind of disagreement. He would just leave anytime there was any kind of quarrel. Well, that left me steaming even when he'd return. He didn't understand that we had to discuss. Until the day when I still happened to have the keys in my hand when the argument started. I turned around and left for several hours. When I returned, I asked if he was ready to talk and how THAT felt when I was the one gone and he was left alone and he finally understood how I felt. Thankfully. But, that worked for us.
I'm glad you can count on your ex to back you, IF you can get him to show up, Karen. That's saying a lot. But I kinda agree with Lisa. You should just tell him you're gonna spill the whole thing if he doesn't show up. Maybe that will get him to set a date. I'm really sorry all of this has fallen on you.
Debbie, I'm really glad to hear that you're "setting up for it" and living your own life too as well as the one with him and your son. I agree, never apologize. We are here for you and everyone.
Hi Sandy! Welcome!
Oh Tracey! I'm so sorry it's such a mess up there. Glad you got to see your mom though. GAWD how I hate that people try to take advantage of elders. grrrrrr... Hope the lawyers can figure it all out.
30 When was the last time you laughed so hard you almost peed?... not that I can remember specifically, but it had to involve Caddie or Hunter (probably Hunter) one of the grands, they're so wonderful at providing laughter! Or seriously... my husband thinks he's hilariously funny, so sometimes he gets me going and we laugh so hard and we're old, so... yeah, it happens.
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN

New ladies!! Welcome, welcome. When I first found this group, someone said it's like a "salon" = cozy cafe. Different conversations at different tables. There's the fun table, the support/listener/good cry table, the cooking and recipe table, the health/weight loss table, etc. Some of us jump from table to table. All the time. It's really OK to sit by yourself in the corner and just listen. For as long as you want.
This came from Lanette and I thought it was worth sharing again in case you missed it. I love this description of us/4 -
Sandy from Kentucky— Welcome to a great group of Women. My DH has been an insulin dependent diabetic for more than 50 years, beginning before we met. He takes insulin shots daily. Have you gone to a doctor who specializes in diabetes? It is a good idea. I hope you will find the right doctor for you. Perhaps you’ve already found that doctor. I hope so. ⭐️1

Tracey ... glad to hear from you ... continuing to pray for your family.
Barbara ... Congratulations on the new BMI!!
Lanette ... I have watched Hollis before. He's insane but highly entertaining!
So my son apparently still has a job and will be expected to return to work after his 5 day quarantine. [Insert rolling eyes here.]
My husband is finally starting to feel better but Paxlovid was hard on him. I'm handling Paxlovid ok and continue to move through this crud with minimal problems.
I've been preparing for tax time for both my mother and my husband and I. My mom's situation is going to be complicated with the sale of their house last year, my dad's death and moving out of state. Both had extensive medical bills and then there's the assisted living situation. Been reading up on the assisted living ... that portion of the rent that is directly related to specialized care can be taken as a medical deduction (after the 7.5% of AGI threshold). In my parents' case, that is a significant amount of cash, so I'm gathering all of that up as well. While I will do our taxes, I'm sending my parents' off to the tax specialist/financial planner that they used for years. I'm just waiting on a few
last documents and then everything is good to go.

[quote="Rosemarie2972;c-47268461"]Lanette: I will take a look at Tara Woodcox. The high protein meals sound interesting. I am living off of Quest protein bars and Quest protein chips. I make some salmon, shrimp and ground turkey. Otherwise I hardly cook at all. My husband has a G-tube and I do tube feedings. I do have help that does some of the feedings. He can take his meds with a little pudding but this will end soon. I should look at Doc Martin again. I use to enjoy the show!
RvRita: I admire your managing a campground. You must be a great people person!GrandMallie: Fried Green tomatoes was filmed near where I live. The set is still there. There is an old mill there. Before Covid a restaurant was going there. I don't know if it still is. The area is somewhat rural still.
Heather: good for you for doing the 5k. I love your pictures of the ocean. I miss the ocean and look at air BNB's where I can go to the ocean when I am able and sit by the pier and watch the sun set. People do this at this pier.
Kylia: I hope you get some rest!
Annie: I have a friend in a similar situation...Estranged from a son in his 20's because of a divorce. It is very painful, but she is in a good situation with a new husband so is in a good place otherwise.
Lisa: I believe in lifestyle over diet. But my life style these days isn't great. I struggle to eat right and to be rested well enough to exercise. I do exercise when I have enough rest.
Barbara: I don't use the dryer much. I hang my clothes on the shower rod in the bath room.
Evelyn: Congrats on being down 3.2 pounds
Debbie: I hate the gyms that make you sign contracts. Sometimes they auto renew and sometimes you need to give written notice and so many days notice to end the contract. The contracts can be tricky to get out of.
Machka: Our lizards are green!
Got some good rest last night and am hopeful for tonight! Spoke with my Mom by video call today. She will be 92 in May and is living alone and goes to exercise and texts and does video calls! She lives near my brother.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Rosemarie, I am good with people in short stints. I much prefer to be alone. That’s why I like the campground. The longest people can stay here is 2 weeks, so only that time to ‘put up with’ whatever they need. LOL. There was a person here who wanted me with her a lot. I used any excuse I could to get away from here. She would watch for me and when she saw me walking by would jump out of her RV and corner me for a while. I know it’s because she must be lonely, but just not my thing. I prefer long distance friendships. I’m just more of a loner. But thanks for the compliment!

Barbara AHMOD - Congrats on the new BMI and the weight loss to get there!
Carla in MN - My current and final husband and I are both inveterate conflict avoiders. But luckily, there's not much to fight about--funny how things fall by the wayside as you get older.
Today's my last day to eat real foods until Thursday afternoon. Just trying not to think about. I've prepared as much as I can, now to just live through it.
And speaking of living through it, we've got an ice storm headed our way. I'm just hoping the weather weasels are overblowing things as they usually do... but Corey was delayed for an hour getting to work this morning because the bridge across the Arkansas River iced up, and someone slid into the side and blocked the whole bridge. People here just don't what to do in this kind of weather... I had planned to stay home anyway, but now there is lots of reason to do so!
Later y'all,
Love to all,

Welcome new ladies!!!. This definition is perfect!! That is exactly what this group does. I’ve been in it since the beginning and they are the best bunch of people ever! I love them and the thoughts and ideas and love from all over the world. All different but all worth considering until you find what works for you!
Welcome again!

Barbara Congratulations!
My 50th birthday....A friend wanted to throw me a party. I said no, then NO, THEN NO WAY IN HELL! This friend kept trying to convince my DH that I secretly wanted one! She was his friend long before I came into the picture. Firstly, I just don't do parties. No good memories of them. Secondly, most of my family and most of my friends live across the US. Without them, it really would have been a gathering of DH's friends. My birthday was on superbowl sunday in 2002. Somehow we ended up with a bunch of folks at our house. I spent a lot of time in the bedroom. The year my brother and SIL came into town for my birthday we had fun until the party my DH planned. Again, I disappeared to my room. My idea of the perfect birthday is dinner with close family at someone's house or with a close friend or two at a nice restaurant. I am such a party pooper.

The letter from my ex finally arrived. I'm still processing it, but I feel a lot better for having got it. Nothing worse than waiting.
I will send a short reply when I have gathered my thoughts. Everything I have posted recently, memes and quotes, has helped me. I feel for him, but he has rewritten history. Don't we all! After 30 years separation, it would be remarkable if we saw things the same way. But he seems to have forgotten major things.
I do want to reassure him that I loved him. My grief after the ending of our marriage almost killed me.
We live in different worlds. He has had two more children and my grandchildren have the blessing of Johnny. Life has a way of working things out. For the better. Or the best.
I feel more at peace now. I hope that my autoimmune flare up will subside now.
We are all human, all too human.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Heather- Doesn't it always seem to work out?
I never take anything for granted ,and am so thankful for my 2 children...and grandchildren
I wasn't expecting 2 open heart surgeries, but the good lord got me through those too
I take everything a day at a time..I read a quote somewhere that people who passed away in there sleep had plans the next day.
You just never know..Life is never easy.. but be grateful for the one you have because it's the only one you got!!
Miles is figuring out how to work the cars...
And had his car ride this afternoon. And now at the park running around....4 -

January is nearly done. My calendar says I have one more day of January, and then February 1st will be here. I’m looking forward to shopping with our daughter on February 1st, on Wednesday. I have trouble every time the month changes. 😳Tomorrow will be 1/31. Keeping fingers crossed for a smooth transition to February 2023.
I’m making a shopping list today & looking forward to the planned shopping trip with my daughter tomorrow. I will likely add a few things on the list when we get to the store. 😊3 -
Had a nice walk today- 12,700steps/94 min/5.7miles/16floors/1550cals
TMI-(note to self- do NOT ever suck on sugarfree candy and be that far away from the bathroom- thankfully there are a lot of big oak bushes and no one in sight and lots of grass-no way I could make it another 30 min to the porta potty)
That has never happened before and I will be sure to not do it again.
Zumba in three hours for an hour. I will take it easy as it is my first time back in two months since my first surgery/procedure.
Chilly but sunny and clear today. Will dress in layers for class- Way too cold to go over there in my tank top and leggings but no way to work out for the hour in long sleeve and fleece leggings(yes, all I wear are legging all year around- summer is thinner cotton capri, winter is fleece or flannel leggings.)
Debbie

Tracey-while for a very sad occasion I am glad you are spending a bit of time with your family. That "mortgage" has illegal all over it-hope you can do something,
Lanette-thanks for the song!
Barbara AHMOD-good job with the BMI and weight!
Heather-glad you are processing.
Lisa-well, I guess I can't really say "happy prepping" (don't know much happy about it-especially given your physical issues. But-you have made it through tougher times than this!
Rori-good to hear from you.
Terri-love your statement on taking care of yourself.
Discussion regarding relationships is interesting. I agree we shouldn't be a door mat. We all make the best decision we can at the time and while we may each make different decisions in similar situations we can support each other. There is so much strength here.
Tired tonight. Stayed up a bit late with football game last night and woke at 4 and started working on union stuff. Came home ingot a couple of things done. Going to head do bed early-working from home tomorrow so I can just be a bit casual. Oral surgeon in afternoon to address tooth that crown came off (can't repair). Will most likely get tooth removed and implant put in.
Take care all,

We need to talk! I am a Sister on the Fly and we are always looking for an RV campground to have events at.
I have a 2021 Retro 166 that I pull with my 2008 Tacoma. Unless I get sick like I did this winter, I go camping regularly year round.

Good evening ladies!
I did 30 mins of yoga and 30 mins of aerobic walking Yay! I forgot my brace but it seemed to be fine without it. Maybe my knee is finally getting stronger.
Congrats Barbara!
And Heather glad you are working through things.
Karen good luck with the meeting.
Tracey so sad that the scammers prey on the elderly. Hope the lawyer can work something out.
