It is cold outside, but the sun is shining. It is a bright, bright sunshiny day. I plan to enjoy the view and stay warm inside. 😊3

“RVRita from NM (I live in an RV and manage a campground with my DH)“
We need to talk! I am a Sister on the Fly and we are always looking for an RV campground to have events at.
I have a 2021 Retro 166 that I pull with my 2008 Tacoma. Unless I get sick like I did this winter, I go camping regularly year round.
Jeannie in Edgewood NM
Come to Roswell! Bottomless Lakes State Park! We have been here for 5.5 years now hosting/managing the campers. I would love to meet you and visit!

Poor Miles is trying to fall asleep and mom will be home any minute.. and then we are supposed to go to Kid City at 1.,im hoping he won't be cranky and be up for it..3

Lisa-glad they cancelled on you early!
Karen-40lbs is great in a year. Doesn't hurt to plateau for a bit-with spring coming you will get there.
Machka-I am asked after every scan, MRI if I have a doctor's appointment scheduled. I can get all of those on line-I think it's just a protocol thing to remind us that we should have a doctor translate what results mean-don't get overly anxious.
Taking quick lunch break-this is one of the positives of working from home. I don't access forums on my Iphone (don't want to get in that habit and be tempted during the work day!). My part of of my work day is going well. I have a subordinate with whom I am not happy and they are aware of it. I've done what I can with it today so I will enjoy the other parts (especially after dental visit!)
Take care all,

Today was a day of medical appointments ...
One for my husband.
One to collect my new lenses ... had them installed in my existing frames. WOW! I can see again!! At my age, my eyes are supposed to stabilise, but my eyes didn't get the memo. I'm getting new glasses or frames at least once a year because they've changed again, and this time they changed quite a bit. It's amazing seeing things clearly again.
One for my MRI ... of my brain. They discovered a cyst on my brain about 4 years ago. This is the first time I've had it scanned since then.
The scan was supposed to be 20 minutes ... maybe 30 minutes if they had to rescan something. I'm pretty sure it was at least 45 minutes.
They got me all settled and put on light jazz ... I lasted 3 or 4 songs and I was asleep. I was going to use it as my 10 minutes "meditation" but I'm not sure I lasted that long. I love MRIs!
When I woke up, and they got me up, they asked when my next appointment with my doctor was ... ummm ... I haven't made one. Apparently, I am supposed to make an appointment with my doctor. Trying not to read anything into that.
I did a nice 3.6 km walk going to and from the MRI place.
Machka in Oz
Just reading about having an MRI I started to shake a bit.
I didn't know I was claustrophobic until I had to have one for my shoulder.
It was the worst thing for me.
She had to stop because I was shaking so much. Wanted to know if I wanted her to stop and reschedule it so they could give me meds to help calm me. Dh was leaving for 3 weeks in China with a friend and I couldn't wait for him to get back. I would need him to drive me home.My shoulder was so bad. Didn't know if it was a tear or frozen. She covered my eyes, I put my hands under my thighs to try and slow the shaking. I remember her voice and I was thinking , oh great, we are about done, NOPE- "doing great, we are HALF WAY there".
When it was done, I held onto the walls as I walked out then sat in the car for about 20 min until the shakes stopped enough for me to drive home
Since then, a lot of things that never bothered me do. Like doing a tour around an old Navy ship. I was great until we went down below where there were no windows.
No way we can have a cabin inside on the cruise ship.
IF I ever have to have another MRI- I want to be knocked out!
Ended up being frozen shoulder- I waited to get it checked so long that by the time I got the diagnosis, it was totally frozen, no movement at all until PT started working on it and got it back. Now, if I feel any stiffness starting, I start really working that shoulder. Do not want to go through all that pain again.

Happy Birthday Sue in WA!
Welcome @Jenni4W. Oh boy have I struggled to incorporate fitness into my lifestyle. What’s helped me has been finding activities I like (line dancing, dog walking) and linking my must-do-Physical Therapy exercises to something I do every morning (after weigh-in, before readings). Keep trying different approaches until you find, like Machka said, what works for you!
Welcome @creechfamily9004 Cindy from MO. You are so close to your goal, well done!
New ladies, be sure to watch for the link to February’s thread. Barbie will post it toward the end of the day.
Karen 4 dog walks a day, WOW!
Kylia “flex tape” LOL!
Lanette re: 2nd breakfast,Joe is the tallest hobbit EVER. Haven’t clicked the buy button yet, but this is the PXL, relaxed fit, waterproof rain jacket for me: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/82605?productId=1343497 Hope the lilac mist will still be in stock when I muster the courage (or when LL Bean offers a sale.)
Lisa yours to Machka and to Jenni4W. Well said. Mixed blessing on the cancellation, immediate relief vs postponed dread.
Katla your sunshine on snow view sounds beautiful… far away from me Would any of your neighbors have some immodium to tide you over till your DD takes you shopping?
Beth and Ginny yours to Machka.
Beautiful clear (chilly) blue sky day, so time to get up and out before the wind kicks up.
When it gets too windy, will tackle that pile of papers-to-be-filed,
Lighter, lovelies!

2023: Be of good cheer.
January: Move more, fuel better, live NOW.

Bea was her usual amazing self. So much energy and force in one 6 year old. On the way home she was doing marching and military orders. Very accurate. I asked her where she got the idea from, but she didn't know. Wonderful spirit.
Going to watch our recording of an old Inspector Morse from 1991. Remembering that time! I was preparing for my production of my play in October of that year. Life changing work.
I am also recording an early Midsomer Murders.
Still thinking about my response to my ex's letter.
The right words are hard to find.
I did manage to write a few sentences as a first draft of my new book. Just digitally scribbling. But it made me feel better. It's important to speak truth. No pretending that I have all the answers.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx5 -

Holy cats! The last day of January already! This month flew by! One month closer to spring; today, I am glad for that. It is 12*F! Brrrr....It took me 30 minutes to get 10 kids ready for outdoor play and we were only outside for 30 minutes. Ugh! I am already looking forward to gardening and planting things. We will start seedlings indoors this year. March I think.
Lanette - I love the "table" imagery to describe our group! That is definitely what it feels like.
Machka - Was that your lizard? I had lizards on the walls and by the doors and windows all of the time in Mexico. They kept the bugs under control.
Lisa- Enjoy your probe free day! lol Ice can be nice. Not as a probe; but to protect you from one.
Heather- Did you end up having to use a different "publisher" or "website" to get your poetry out the way you wanted? I think I missed the rest of the "misaligned poetry" story.
ALL- Did everyone see the article on Marie Kondo and how she has put her "tidy" rules on hold, due to the fact that since she wrote that book she now has three children. ?! lol Kudos to her for realizing that quality time with her kids is more important than keeping things tidy.1 Sit in silence for three minutes... it's harder than you think. Done29 Engage in a random act of kindness of your own choice: Sunday I got out and used the snowblower on our driveway. 12 inches of snow! I also did the walk between my house and both of my neighbors and did both neighbors drives! Three hours in the snow!
2 List 5 things using each of your senses. Currently: The sound of crickets from the boys sound machine in their bedroom, the smell of grass and fresh air from the open window, the blue/white glow of my laptop screen in the dark dining area, the taste of coffee, the scritchy feel of a tag on my shirt (that I will be changing out of soon)
3 Let go of at least 5 items in your house. I am not home right now, but my linen closet is going to take a BIG hit when I get home.
4 What was your favorite Christmas gift? (this year or ever). Not counting my youngest son being born on Christmas Eve; I would say a leatherbound copy of The Hobbit from my youngest son. It is not my favorite book, but it was the fact that he gave me a book. This is the first book I have received as a gift, since childhood. It is the thoughtfulness behind it.
5 Move for at least 30 minutes today- this will be easy as the boys and I will be taking a walk to the playground this morning. Extra movement will include: playground, putting sand in the sandbox and water in the water tables, building a fort in the living room, and setting up "camp" under it.
6 Share a goal you achieved last year- I am not a gardener; so my goal of growing some fruits and veggies with the kids was met. We grew green beans, carrots, radishes, and watermelon. We are going to try again this year with a bigger garden and more variety.
7 Slow down and savor one meal today- Well, the 7th was a travel day, so the meal I savored was actually a burger and fries. BUT, it was after eight hours with only a granola bar and it was in my own home, while regaling my son and hubby with "grandson" highlights.
8 Who was your favorite teacher- My favorite teacher was my 10th grade English teacher. She recognized a natural ability for language/communication in me; a kid who had a hard time staying on task, especially when it was a topic that didn't spark my interest. Instead of completed written work on the assigned topic; she let me submit a rough draft on a topic of my choice and do an oral presentation and discuss it(just the two of us). Unfortunately, she died of cancer before I graduated. I spent a lot of time talking to her about things and she was/is missed greatly.
9 Create something today- Hoo boy! Well, I have already created a to-do list; but I don't think that is what they are looking for here. I will be "creating" something on Saturday...maybe I will switch this one with another day this week.
10 What is your favorite lyric from a song: " A flight of fancy on a wind swept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I" Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd
11 Send a card/note to someone today: I have been thinking about my cousin, recently divorced and struggling in the singles scene. I sent her some "words of affirmation" in a card today.
12 What are you looking forward to in 2023? I am actually looking forward to getting my garden started this year with my childcare kiddos.
13 Tell a random person they look "good" today- I didn't get out in public to do this, so I will do it today
14 Tell us three amazing things that happened recently- I have begun grocery shopping online and AMAZINGLY, I like it! lol I was able to get down into a low (child style) squat AND able to stand back up unassisted! I was able to come up with a work around (that his OT hadn't thought of) for one of my childcare babies who is having sucking/drinking issues and upper body gross motor issues! (Benefits of being the "eyes in the field" on a day to day basis)
15 Call or text someone you haven't talked to in at least a week- called my older sister who lives in Florida. She was surprised (usually she calls me for the "checking in").
(back to #9: 9 Create something today- I actually created a snowman game with cardboard pieces. The kids are given a blank snowman. They spin the spinner and it lands on 1, 2, or 3. Whatever number it lands on, is the number of pieces they made add to their snowman. Winner is the one who completes their snowman first.
16 What made you smile today: One of my childcare kids told me that I "look good. Like a spicy chicken nugget!" That made me laugh.
17 Take a photo of something you're grateful for: I am grateful for inquisitive and curious little minds. It keeps me learning.
18 What material comforts are you most thankful for?: You can make your list as long as you like... I am thankful for coffee, electricity that gives me light and warmth, warm clothes that keep me comfortable when I am outside in the cold, my gas stove and oven because I can make/warm anything with them even when we lose power.
19 Write a positive review for a company for goods or services you've received recently: Oooh! I will be writing my review of this wonderful book I read called Where Am I? by Heather Eyles
20 Write down five things you like about yourself: 1) my skin, 2)my sense of humor, 3)my optimism, 4)my sense of adventure, 5)my healthy gut
21 Pay it forward in some way: I paid for the items of the woman behind me at Dollar Tree. It wasn't much (only about $5), but most times it is the little things, right?
22 What do you most desire in your life right now?: Financial freedom
23 Go an entire day without complaining: I have never really been much of a complainer. Years ago, I began following Barbie's advice and started a gratitude journal, and that has pretty much eliminated all complaints. I have noticed, though, that I complain a bit when I don't feel well.
24 What about you makes you special?: Hmmm...maybe my ability to find the good in things/flip situations? Or my ability to keep my head while surrounded by tens of screaming children? lol
25 Spend time with a loved one: Luckily, I do this every day. A bigger challenge would be to spend some time alone today.
26 When was the last time you felt pure joy?: This is tricky, because I do tend to find joy in the little things. Because I work with small children, amazing things happen daily. First steps, first words, first toilet success, the lightbulb moments as they learn/see new things. Joy is pretty much a daily thing, here. I DO feel a great leap in my heart at the thought of adventure/travel. The hiking trip with my son, coming up this fall brings me great joy to think about.
27 Hold the door for a stranger... or a friend: I do this daily when I go places. Or if needed here at home.
28 What fear have you overcome?: Traveling alone. As a teen/ early twentysomething, I was afraid to travel alone. Now, the only thing that keeps me in one place is lack of finances to travel. Which is probably why it is a good thing that I don't have that much financial freedom. As a teen, I spent a LOT of time running from problems.
30 When was the last time you laughed so hard you almost peed: Almost? lol Almost pee is a daily occurrence. Last night, though, my DYS got me laughing so hard that I had to change my pants. He loves it when I laugh that hard. I am one of those people who laugh hard silently except that loud snort that happens with every intake of breath. So embarrassing, but makes me laugh harder.
31 Now try to "meditate" (sit in silence) for ten minutes... I couldn't do it this morning. Too much going through my head with 10 kids arriving today. I will try again tonight.
Word for 2023 Restore
I am definitely hormonal. My DH (godlovehim) is driving me crazy. He goes from pissing and moaning about how he feels to a complete 360 and will do some strenuous thing; like shoveling, moving heavy things, etc. That in itself makes me a little angry; because I am the one to deal with the "pain s**tshow" that always follows. BUT...the thing that really makes me want to smack him into eternity is when he tells me how much pain he is in, yet will stand there and stare at my butt, or breasts. I'm flattered; but I want to strangle him.

Oh, yeah! I talked to my daughter this morning. They got some ice and snow in the DFW area; so schools and businesses are closed for the next two days! We were on viber, so the boys were jumping around excitedly showing me the snow outside their window; so I flipped my phone around and showed them the couple of feet of snow that has accumulated here. lol I heard Joaquin say, "Mom! Can we go to Michigan today!" Miguel said, "Yea! Yea! We're going to grandmas!" Made me feel good. Then the boys heard the commotion my childcare kiddos were making and had to say "Hi!" to all of the kids. lol It was quite the circus.8

Worked then went to the gym (yea!), stopped at the Salvation Army to make a donation (and, of course, go in). Then went to Sam’s to get my glasses fixed, they were too tight at the ear.
It’s drizzling out right now. Hopefully, it’ll stop so I can go for my walk
Jenni – a while ago I used to abhor going to the gym every day. So I started M,W, and F, eventually I added in Sat. Little at a time. Take baby steps and pretty soon you’ll be craving exercise every day. I need to exercise first thing in the morning or else it doesn’t get done. The only exception is when I go to the gym on Tuesdays. I go right from work. If I come home first – forget it. Another thing that I do is plan a few days in advance what I’m going to do. Sometimes I admit that I do change it up at the last minute, but I have a plan. Actually, now that I think about it, I started exercising only T and Thurs. Then I advance to M, W and F. Then every day. Now that I’m working a few hours in the morning, I don’t get to exercise every day but I do try to get something in on some days when I don’t work. For me, at first, I needed to go to the gym. Needed someone to hold me accountable. When I got into the habit, then I was able to do it at home. To me, the disadvantage to doing it at home is that I can easily fall into bad habits (like not keeping my spine straight)
Barbie – I’ve lately gotten to listening to the “Eat this Not That” podcasts when I go for my walk
Lisa – I hate being cold, too. At work just going into the refrigerator to put my prep away is plenty for me, thank you. I’m so sorry the colonoscopy was canceled. At least you didn’t have to do the prep. Enjoy the egg!
Cindy – welcome!
Rori and Lisa – Vince just bought a lot of Girl Scout cookies and I thought of you two when he did
The one and only thing that’s good about January being over is that it makes it closer to when we go to FL

Tried tilapia for lunch for the first time. It is unlikely I’ll try it again. My digestive system is not happy. :noway:3

Karen--Hugs. Our children can hurt us the worst sometimes and nothing we do can change that.
Beth--Hope you are feeling better. I was told this morning that come May 11 we will not have restrictions on patients we can transfer because Covid will be just like the flu. Who comes up with this stuff. So my question was what is going to be different between now and May 11. They had no answer just said that is the policy. No wonder I get a headache trying to figure this out and keep my staff safe.
Annie-- DH has a daughter that still lives with her mom and has not talked to us in over 4 years. It is sad as her mom is very hateful and she has taught the daughter to be the same. Someday I pray she will see the truth. Sad part is we used to all be really close and we would spend several weekend with her and the grand kids. Divorce is never easy, but usually not one side is all to blame.
I am only to the end of page 82. So looking forward to a new month. We had a good weekend at the CMA rally. Good to see people we only see a couple times a year. My sister who has not talked to me in 6 years, since our mom passed away texted me Saturday morning to see if I heard about our younger sister who rang the bell that morning because she finished 6 months of surgery, chemo and radation for cancer. I have not been on FB all month, but my granddaughter had shared the news with me that morning. Any way she had not told any of us about the cancer. Since we were in the town where my sister lives I thanked her and asked if she would like to meet for lunch. She invited us to her house for lunch and we had a nice visit. It's a start.
Then when we got home our oldest son wanted us to have lunch with him and our grandson and his wife. It was to tell us they are expecting their first baby coming in August. So happy for them and looking forward to grandbaby number 36. Life is good.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE9 -
Machka ... unless your MRI results are shared with you through an online "chart" or some other source, you need to see the doctor for your results, don't you? Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow ...
Beth
My doctors have just texted me that my results are within normal parameters for various things in the past. I got a text like that regarding my blood work last week.
Doctors here are so booked up they would rather not have you in if you don't need to be.
Anyway I will get the results in the app next week and my Dr appointment is in 3 weeks.
Lanette ... I don't find MRIs any noisier than a bus or snoring husband. They give you ear plugs and headphones, then play music through the headphones. Very relaxing.

Well Miles had a blast at Kid city.... as you can see Grandma went too.. im huge..but the coat makes me look even bigger..
He will definitely be going back5 -
Lisa: Aw shoot!!! At least they cancelled before you had started the prep.
@Jenni4w I decided ages ago that gyms were unnecessary. I work out at home. It saves me time, and I can work out throughout the day when I have a a spare 10 minutes. I use YouTube vids. You can search for any exercise you want. Find something you like doing and do that. I like dancing, so that’s what I do. I have dumbbells and resistance bands.
Heather: What Lisa said.
Tracey: What a mess! I hope the lawyers can sort it out. You’re a good daughter to make sure mum has a functioning phone.
Lanette: 🥰 The cosy cafe analogy.
Intentions for today:
♦️chillax✔️
♦️general chores✔️
♦️sort out shopping for tomorrow ✔️
♦️solid habits ✔️
Taking care of yourself
does not mean ‘Me first’
It means
ME TOO!!!
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for all those those who need them, especially those in unsatisfying relationships. It can be so wearing.

I love this supportive group of wonderful friends. Thank you for being in my life.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Barbara. Today is the day but I am celebrating this coming weekend. DD and I leave Friday for San Diego. DSon will pick us up and we will go to his home for a while then go to hotel in Anaheim. Having dinner at Cheesecake Factory, spending Saturday at Disneyland and one more night at hotel. Son will drop me off at my cousin's in Laguna Beach on the way back to SD. In addition to my son and DD we will have my DGS and his partner with us and also my DD's best friend. One of my friends from South Dakota was going to come but had to cancel due to a funeral in her family. DD will return home on Monday and I will come back on Wednesday. Looking forward to a fun time.
Rebecca- how much snow did you get on the island? We got a dusting here this morning.
Lisa - glad they let you know early. Now you can put off the dread for a while. Enjoy your egg.
