Rori - always exciting seeing a post from you The Row House sounds neat. Sounds like you've been listening to some good Dr. Chatterjee podcasts, sometimes I queue a few up on Spotify and listen to them as I go to sleep. Maybe I'm getting subliminally programmed - that can't be bad, he does have interesting guests.
Please tell me the make of the minimalist shoe you are wearing now - I'm thinking of heading to REI to see if they have any Xero shoes - there are other makes of flat-soled (barefoot) shoes, but these I could try on. Not sure how any of them would do walking on pavement.
My metatarsalgia is 99% healed. I do calf stretches each morning which I think helps keep my left foot limber.
The Crocs I ordered from Amazon - now a "delay in shipment", lol. I see they have some other colors at the old price so what will be, will be!

I get up before 4:30 every morning to walk Bessie to do business, then fix her breakfast and mine and spend time with some computer activities including reading this thread while I eat breakfast. I meet my dog walking friend at 5:45 to walk Bessie for awhile then my friend and I walk for about 45 minutes before she goes home for breakfast and I continue for another hour. I drink water and talk to Jake when I get home, then I meet with a group online from 9-10 AM. We have lunch around 10:30 then watch some TV until Jake is ready for his nap. That's when I go out for a 30-40 minute walk. Our afternoons are varied. Sometimes, especially when it's cold, I take a nap. We feed Bessie about 2:30 then have our supper. We're in bed no later than 7:00. I get up at 12:30 to walk Bessie, read my e book for a bit and go back to sleep. The schedule is the same year round which allows me to enjoy the changing seasons and the changing light in the morning. I read and watch TV during the day and ride my exercise bike at the same time. I spend two to three hours on the bike most days.
It is getting colder here again and Jake is looking to get more firewood so we can be toasty by the woodstove.

Rita good thought. We discovered one of the nephews (16) had two girls (14) in his bedroom overnight. When Joe said “Why are you so upset? He said nothing happened.” I lost my voice, picked up my purse and drove 3 hrs to Stanley. As I got further from home, my heart got lighter. I reluctantly turned around. As I got closer and closer to home I started to cry, harder and harder. To my amazement, Joe had the boys gathered in the living room and read from a “manifesto” he’d written, that began “Barbara is right and we were all wrong.” To this day I thank my sister in law whose influence it must have been. Joe probably called his brother who turned the matter over to his wife. I only ever left him one other time and for me it was to be the final. It could have been, he could have said “thank God she’s gone.” Instead he persuaded me to return (after 3 days) by agreeing to going to couples counseling. It not just saved my marriage, it saved me. The next year was a tough one with three major losses. Had Joe and I not gotten “right” I doubt I’d have survived.
Debbie Like Tina’s, my story above is not advice, just sharing my experience. Brava for doing things for you, Zumba, wetlands walk, plan B, church, freezer purge, clothing sort, etc. Each a tiny step in the right direction. Vent here all you need. We are here for you and each other.

Dh tried it, said it was a bit too salty so added more water. Says it is still a bit too much so he can add more water to his, plus he prefers more broth, I like it a bit thicker.
Nice to have something warm and filling plus pulled more stuff out of the freezer. Found a big thing of imitation crab that I didn't know was there, and just bought two small ones Thursday- will use this big one up first. Some in this and some this week in a seafood lasagna using that and some canned bay shrimp.
Also pulled out some frozen blackberries from the freezer(from dad's garden)- simmered them down completely and will have some on top of some vanilla yogurt. They are so yummy- like the blackberry cobbler filling- just no fattening top on it. May just eat a bowl just by itself and skip the yogurt- will have to wait and see. Wish I had some Cool-Whip to go with it.
My goal is to use up everything in that little freezer and do the same in the other little one(both are the parts of the fridge/freezers) and the big freezer. Toss what needs to be tossed and use what is still good.
i didn't get to my pile of clothes I want to sort/donate/put away- Maybe tomorrow. Dh was napping when I was going to go in and this evening, he will be going to bed early so he can go to work-alarm will be going off at 2AM or maybe it is5, I don't remember.

I never thought to just make the berries and put it on ice cream instead of making a cobbler. Sunday day is church and family day and we always have some kind of dessert. I may eat that next weekend instead of whatever my families is having. I got to get my blood sugar down so I can start losing some of this weight. I love frozen yogurt.3 -

They don't do a Vit D test every time, but during the once-a-year check-up they'll usually order a Vitamin/Mineral panel. Or at least, they have with me.
My husband gets his Vit D checked every time.
Vit D deficiency is very common in Tasmania so it's assumed that we are deficient and recommended that we take Vit D.
I do take Vit D and my numbers for Vit D, and the other vitamins and minerals have been right in the middle of the normal range each time.
The only numbers which have been a bit "off" are my cholesterol which bounces around a bit, and the ones that relate to my kidneys.

I learn a lot from having weight loss buddies here and in the real world.
I just tried something new that will save me 5 grams of carbs and some calories every day. When you only get 40 carbs a day, 5 is a huge amount.
I switched to almond milk for my coffee. Everything helps.
I read all the posts and I think I caught up on everything. Hugs to every one who needs one and may we all meet our goals today.

If I use milk, I often go with almond milk because of lactose intolerance issues. Plus I like it better.

1 Sit in silence for three minutes... it's harder than you think. Does silently working in the garden count? Done! I sat silently for 7 minutes and prayed.
2 List 5 things using each of your senses. Right now? I can see my Christmas decorations, I can hear Christmas songs, I can taste my coffee, I can smell my coffee, and I can feel a comfortable temperature in the room.
3 Let go of at least 5 items in your house. I'm not in a downsizing or reducing mode so I've taken some lunch things to work, I will take an item to be mailed and another to be given to the people at work.
4 What was your favorite Christmas gift? (this year or ever). I can't tell you what my favourite Christmas gift this year is yet. It's a secret.
5 Move for at least 30 minutes today. Absolutely. It's a very rare day that I don't.
6 Share a goal you achieved last year. We completed the longest bicycle ride since my husband's accident and the fastest.
7 Slow down and savor one meal today. Mmmm ... pizza!
8 Who was your favorite teacher. My father. But I've had quite a few good teachers, in addition to him, over the years.
9 Create something today. I finished creating my first work-related project plan today.

My skin cancer surgery went better than expected and all my margins are clear.

I struggle with feeling anything more than content. First, the medication I have been on for the past 5 years doesn't let me. Second, I fear it ... I feel like if I feel if I feel really happy/excited about something, something really bad is going to happen.
I made the mistake of feeling happy about my husband's promotion to General Manager ... 6 months later he had a workplace accident which resulted in a permanent severe brain injury.
I try not to make that mistake anymore.
27 Hold the door for a stranger... or a friend. Well I did help get our bicycles back inside today.
Most doors here have fly strips that we walk through.

Yesterday, we drove home from our weekend away up north. As usual, we cleaned the little cottage we stayed in so there's less work for the lady who owns it.

I don't remember. Likely when I was a teenager.

Congratulations!!
I'm just pleased to be down 0.3 kg after our weekend away this past weekend. We ate well but we also exercised lots.
From the beginning of the month, I'm down about 1 kg.
But ... it's just back to where I was at the beginning of December. 3 weeks off over Christmas recovering from skin cancer removal surgery (nose and hip), resulted in a 1 kg gain.

Sandy from Kentucky— Welcome to a great group. My husband has been an insulin dependent diabetic since before we met, more than 50 years ago. Our teenaged granddaughter is also a diabetic. Both go to doctors who are diabetic specialists. Have you gone to a doctor who specializes in diabetes? I would recommend it. ❤️ Your doctor should help you learn how to manage your blood-sugar levels.

I’m meeting with my ex again tomorrow to talk about things some more.
I have decided I am not going into the gladiator arena with my son alone. I have done that before, most memorably in that “therapy" session, and I am not doing it again.
I need solid backup.
I want to see how much I can count on my ex. Generally he is an honest person, but people with Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder sometimes have trouble coming to grips with the subconscious nature of their hardwiring - the subtle sabotage, the covert nature of the obstruction/punishment, the procrastination which forces others to make all the hard decisions (like ending marriages).
Because the manipulation is not on a conscious level, it is difficult for people with this disorder to admit how destructive they truly are, because they do NOT want to be the Bad Guy. Ever. Denial is a big part of their defense system, because to admit to their subconscious agenda is painful and guilt-inducing. They avoid conflict, and internal conflict is the most abhorrent of all.
I am not sure Rick has ever taken that hard look in the Passive Aggressive mirror which would be required for him to admit that he systematically undermined our marriage until I finally called it quits, which is what he wanted. I was the designated Bad Guy. I am ready to relinquish that title.

My autoimmune syndrome is kicking in today. So no 5k. The weather is beautiful. I am trying my best to find equanimity. My brain and my body are at odds.

I have got so far behind, I thought I would skip to the last few pages. Feel a bit out of the loop, but loving the memes and how supportive this group is.
Nothing much happening with me, back volunteering at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre which I enjoy. Went for coffee with a few friends last Monday, it was good to catch up, so many of us have been ill with Flu/Covid over the last few months.
Back to logging my calories (again!) and exercising, I've been following Get Fit with Rick and also Anna Cousins. Today I only wasn't really in the mood, so cut it short. I'll maybe do a session with Rick early evening, I sometimes have a bit more energy late afternoon/early evening. At least I've been getting the steps in walking our dog twice a day and a quick walk around the block at lunchtime for a toilet break (the dog not me )
I've been watching Happy Valley - started from the last season as I couldn't remember what had happened. Caught up and now watching the current series. (Not sure why they called it Happy Valley, not a lot of happiness there). Can't stop watching it though.
Time is getting on, better get on with some housework before going to check on my mum, I think she wants her bed linen changing today, and her bathroom could do with a clean too.

Happy Monday Morning!
Well, Sunday was relaxing and somewhat productive. I got laundry done, hot tub treated, 7K steps, and some work paperwork done. DH and I were finally able to get the old faucet off. That was a job! It was installed in 1998 and I know has been leaking for at least the past 5 years. There were a lot of deep breaths involved. DH can get easily frustrated when working in tight spots and being unable to see well. It would have been easier to do by myself with him gone, but he needs to help with some household repairs. If it had been painting......that is done when he is gone. We got the new one on, then found out our water lines were too short for the new faucet! Of course, by that time Lowes was closed. So no kitchen sink until tonight.
No big plans for most of this week. Thursday is the dentist in the morning then to Cincinnati to watch youngest granddaughter's dance showcase. It will be a long night! Friday we are going to Cooper's Hawk with friends for my birthday. I need to keep that in mind while eating and exercising this week. My oldest daughter asked me if I was turning 59. I said nope. She said 60??? Yep. She says that isn't possible! She is so cute! Her DH said they needed to throw me a party- she said NO!!! Not going down that road again! Dinner with friends is perfect.
This past week I did a little better on sleep (average up to 6.55 hours a night), did great on active hours, but water and steps suffered. So will keep my goals for this week as they have been before adding or changing anything. I have been in bed long enough to get 7 hrs, just not staying asleep that long. My intentions today are
1) finish kitchen faucet
2) pay some bills
3) mop kitchen floor
4) Work paperwork/training
5) Take out trash this morning
I truly love having each and everyone of you ladies in my corner. I can feel the love, concern, joy, and support just coming of the pages every time I read.

Good Morning to everyone. I’ve managed to catch up on reading but have not taken time to comment.
I am still in NB will return home on Feb 7th.
We were hoping to be home in the 3rd to get the weekend to rest up but the flight cost difference was $300 for each of us.
Our daughter is still here with us as well, and her best friend flew in today.
My in laws were in a huge financial mess that we were not aware of. My MIL, DH and SIL are going to meet with a lawyer this morning to try to sort some of it. Their house had been paid off and my FIL took out a 30k mortgage 16 years ago, the company says they now owe 80K. Turns out this mortgage company was not even licensed to write mortgages here. My in laws have been paying $350 a month for 16 years and have not missed a payment.
Shortly before Christmas my SIL convinced my MIL to cancel their landline phone and get a family cell phone package for all of them. The cell service is not good and my MIL keeps disconnecting people by mistake. I have ordered a new landline phone in my name. No one else can do anything with it and this gives me peace of mind. It’s a bill I really don’t need, but at least she can call whoever, whenever she wants and won’t be cut off.
On a happier note, I saw my mother last week, she didn’t immediately recognize me, but recognized my daughter and DH. In fairness she was not expecting me and was laying down when I walked into her room.
I will visit her a couple more times before I fly out. She probably weighs close to 250, if not more now. It is quite sad to see.
We spent the night with my best friend one night and with my brother another night. This coming Saturday my brother and our daughter are going to have a birthday celebration. This will be the first time in 26 years she will be celebrating with him. Both of my girls, him and a family friend used to share a cake. They are looking forward to it.
I have not been eating properly and I feel it. Too many carbs and too much junk food. I think I’ve gained my loss back. I’ll lose it again when I’m home.

Tracey - So good to see you post--I know it's been a tough time. Glad you got to see your mom, and totally flabbergasted at how your in-laws ended up owing $80,000 on a $30,000 mortgage! Really glad they're meeting with a lawyer. It all sounds quite scammy to me. How's Rodger holding up with all this?
Heather - I'm sorry your Sjogren's is flaring - I know you said it's undiagnosed, but can you go talk to a doc about it while it's acting up? Especially if there are visible signs. It sounds quite debilitating, but there are medications that can help, apparently.

Barbie - your circadian clock is similar to mine. Rosie doesn't get me up at midnight to go outside, but she's generally ready around 2:30 am and she has her first meal. At that point, I'm up for the day. Eating breakfast if I'm hungry, otherwise lunch at around 10-11, supper at 2:30 or 3, then in bed by 6:30 to read or watch a video. Rosie is usually conked out in her bed by 4:30. A dog's life.
Tracey - so glad you caught us up. So very sorry to hear about your in-law's financial mess, hopefully the meeting with the lawyer will have a positive outcome. Thoughtful of you to get that landline put in. Sending many hugs.
Sandy from Ky - Welcome! You've gotten several good suggestions from this group. Diabetes runs in my family so I track my blood sugar from time to time. One of the most interesting books I've read is "The Diabetes Code" by Dr. Jason Fung, a nephrologist from Canada - he has a different take on managing diabetes and weight loss, focusing on controlling insulin, resulting in better blood sugar levels. Dr. Fung has a YouTube channel. His "Obesity Code" is also good.
Husbands and strife: Remember that song "Love will keep us together" by Captain & Tennille? During the hard times in my marriage, our spats usually ended up with "what about the dogs and cats?" That seemed to bring us back to cooling off, talking and working things out. "Dogs/cats will keep us together" was the new version.
New ladies!! Welcome, welcome. When I first found this group, someone said it's like a "salon" = cozy cafe. Different conversations at different tables. There's the fun table, the support/listener/good cry table, the cooking and recipe table, the health/weight loss table, etc. Some of us jump from table to table. All the time. It's really OK to sit by yourself in the corner and just listen. For as long as you want.
It's 19 degrees outside, the little woodstove is keeping the living room cozy. Grateful to have it and grateful for the firewood.
