Did an advanced strength training DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 20-40-60 workout. I signed us up for going to the pot luck tonight but that was before Vince’s back issue. I am sure we won’t go but I still made the grapefruit pie.
Allie – thank you for being such a good courier. Yea for Tracy!
Exercised then went to WalMart to get Vince’s prescriptions. They said it would be 30 minutes, wound up being an hour. Then had to go to Walgreens to get Loki’s prescription. Then a friend of mine from down here came over. We went to a few stores, I got another pair of exercise shorts. I think I’m going to leave most of my exercise clothes down here since I only go to the gym now once (sometimes twice if I don’t have to go to the soup kitchen) a week
Cards tonight.
Jess just called and we didn’t mention to her about Vince going to the hospital. If we did, I can almost see her coming down here. She asked me if while we were at Daytona did I make sure Vince drank and ate so that he didn’t go to the hospital. At Daytona he didn’t go. Talk about splitting hairs. We just don’t want her to worry unless there’s something to worry about.
Oh, called and got the appt for Vince’s MRI. The first time he can see the doc is next Thursday.
He asked me to be home by 10 tomorrow since they’re supposed to be here between 10 and 1 to install the dishwasher. Normally, he’d just be here and I could do what I need to do. I do have to go to Aldi, but I can do that even in the afternoon.
Off to have dinner. Need to have it early since they usually get to cards early.

Michele— Sorry that Vince is having back spasms. I hope he will feel better and his situation improves.
(((dlfk202000))— I hope your dh apologizes for cussing & throwing things. He shouldn’t treat you that way.
Allie— Your comment about your mom’s ability to flatten her hands on the floor inspired me to try it. I made it! Barefeet & my hands flat on the floor. 😊

Beth-I have heard that about Paxlovid. It does seem to have helped knock my worst symptoms back. Agree about the taste. Of course, I also figure that once I started taking it, how bad would my symptoms be without it? My Covid symptoms were getting bad the night before and day I tested-then I started. Staff member who also tested positive on Wednesday just told me she has lost her sense of smell. Her husband tested positive on Saturday and she started minor cold symptoms that day. Concerned about her-cough is bad, now smell. Each day she is a bit worse, She has had vaccines and this is her second bout of covid (first was earlier on before vaccines). It does seem that some are just more susceptible-but it is that way with many things.
Hot Water Heaters-I went with tankless when I replaced my furnace and AC. I absolutely love it!
Toes Touches-I have never been overly flexible but I can still do those. My SIL could put full palm on floor and couldn't understand why I couldn't.
Michelle-glad you can get Vince in for MRI. I may have overlooked it but did he do anything to injure it or did it just "go"?
Allie-excellent plan for friends!
Yelling-I agree it can be abusive but there are also cultural/family differences in communication so it can be viewed differently by different groups. I think each of us makes our choices based upon how we feel in the situation. I have found very few people in relationships who have not at least occasionally said something that could be considered abusive-and some of the most hurtful is said very softly.
Pretty uneventful day. Did get a couple of things done for work but only worked about 2 hours. I am seriously trying to take it easy even though I feel better than I was. Put in grocery pick up order for tomorrow morning. I could maybe make it without it but this way I won't be tempted to push the rules/guidance. This is only the second time I have called in an order for pick up. I wasn't impressed with their selection of fresh produce (this was very early in covid). Apples and Mandarins the only produce I ordered-but got bread, eggs, turkey sausage or other basic stuff.
I was in a bit of delimma regarding mattress delivery scheduled for tomorrow. I had thought I would get up and strip bed and give it good spray with lysol and the house right before they came and wear mask. However, they called and let me know mattress didn't make this delivery so it will arrive on Sunday, March 4. That will give me time to get everything cleaned and house aired out.
Time to stretch out again. I do have the tiredness they talk about-rest is good.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Well off to my horseback riding. It's a really warm and mostly sunny day here.

Touching Toes ... My arms are disproportionately longer than my torso, but I also have very long legs. Still, I can not only touch my toes, but stand on my hands. Think of a monkey dragging his arms! My family has had a good time making fun of me over the years.

I have the total opposite problem. I am fairly tall at 5'7" but I have a long torso with short legs and arms. You know that school "finger tip rule" where your skirt or shorts have to be below your fingertips to be considered long enough? Well, I can adhere to the fingertip rule and still show the world the cheeks of my bottom, well almost, anyway. I have about an inch covered.
We bought mattresses today. We tried the hybrids, but ultimately decided against them. Our current mattresses are some type of memory foam, which we liked when they were new, but we are over them. We laid down on the Sealy Posturepedic Plus extra firm and both of us liked it best. They're going to bring out both a regular and low profile box spring and let us see which one we like best on our bed. They had the queen in stock but we also ordered a full for the guest room bed where Dave sleeps most of the time. We knew it needed a low profile box spring because it is an old-fashioned iron bed frame and sits up pretty high. It has to be special ordered so we told them to just wait and deliver them both at the same time. Hopefully we will be able to get a good night's sleep again soon.

When our dishwasher stopped working last year, we had to wash dishes by hand until the repairman could get here and while doing that we realized that washing dishes twice a day by hand worked well for us. The dishwasher is working now and we rarely use it. Jake thinks it should be run at least once a month so he picks a day with lots of dishes and runs the cycle at night.
Colder today, more snow overnight, and icy roads so my walking friend and I wore our YakTrax on our walk this morning at 5:45.

Good evening ladies!
I did my dumbbells Yay! And I raised some of the weights. It felt good to work harder.
Machka, thanks for the picture. I'm more concerned about my fingers than my wrists. I need to do grip strength exercises.
I ate 1083 calories today, and have a calorie deficit of 409. Yay! That's a little above my target of 300, but that's okay. It's been an uneven week, and weigh-in is tomorrow.
Last night Teddy got into my father's chocolate, which got put on a low shelf. He was fine, so it must have been a low dose, but I was up worrying half the night.
I rode a horse named Major today because Henry has joint issues again. Major is definitely a slow and gentle school horse. I had trouble keeping him trotting.
So have a good night, my friends!

katla and Terri – I think Vince is SLOWLY getting better. Last night he had to stand to eat dinner, tonight he sat down. He’s still having back spasms, but it doesn’t seem to be as frequent. As the MD at the ER said, a muscle got inflamed and he just has to let it calm down.
Ginny – if you meant did Vince lift something or fall the answer is that he didn’t. He was fine (oh, a little hurt but not real bad) on Tuesday, then he went to the bathroom and when he got up, he said it felt like someone stabbed him in the back. I absolutely HATE where the toilet paper is located. It’s across from the toilet. Admitted, this is a condo and the bathrooms are narrow. But still...I suspect he reached for the tp and twisted in the wrong way. Vince says that he likes where the TP is right now, but I still suspect that was the cause of this pain.
Went to cards. There were 6 people at the table. I don’t like when there are that many. It just takes so looooonnnngggg. I like when there are only 4. I wish they’d taken 2 people from one table and 2 from ours to make another table of 4. But whatever.
Better take a shower and get to bed. Night everyone

Good evening,
Spent prep time setting up my new phone. The new peep is no where near as bad as the first one my DH did. I did eat lighter the 2 days before which may have helped. After two incidents that ultimately ended with bathrobe in toilet:( After that I put on a long sweater and just stayed in place. DH kept checking on me and brought me a blanket. I finally went to bed around midnight. Repeated this morning. Procedure went well. Nothing found. Everything looks great 👍. The young nurse thought she had the wrong patient. She kept staring and finally said she thought I was in my 30s or 40s! As for red liquids, my doctor said color doesn't matter. I used pedialyte cherry for mixture. Trust me, there was no red today. Doctor said the reason they always said no red was that people would think they were bleeding. I am happy to have one more test out of the way. Tomorrow is rest day at home.
I really did read all, just don't remember comments. 😐
Healing thoughts for those ill or injured.
Congratulations to all that are getting things done!
Stay safe in the wintery weather. It was 71 and sunny here today (too bad my view had a throne!) Tomorrow winter is back.
Time for bed.

Our adult kids are on their way to pack up the contents of our home in Oregon. I loved the home and had very good neighbors. I will miss them & remember them fondly.
Our daughter and son are packing our possessions and will bring them to us.
We are now in Illinois. We are in a facility that provides excellent care for DH. I am in an apartment in another part of the building. In the future we plan to move to a home near our daughter.

Ginny - I had Covid in August and other than being exhausted and having a cough for a couple days I had no real illness with it. My husband was the same as me. Our daughter got it in October and suffered terribly. She is still suffering with vertigo fairly regularly. I hope the medicine helps you with no lingering effects.
Katie - we really need a new mattress as well. DH says no, but he’s wrong.
Heather - I always feel warm inside when someone appreciates my cards. I’m glad your friend acknowledged yours and I hope it made you feel warm inside.
Carla - I’m taking note of that book for my eldest. It sounds like something she may like.
Beth - I am always worried about finances in the event of an emergency too.
As a matter of fact I used most of our resources for our unexpected trip home. We wouldn’t have any of our son in law hadn’t used all of his points for our flights. He still hasn’t told me what we owe him.
I’ve worked hard to be able to touch my toes before I had hurt my hip. I should try working on that again. My hips and back are hurting quite bad the last couple of weeks though so I won’t try it right now. I’m not sure what’s going on but I need to figure it out. The pain is getting to me.
Ginny - I agree about the yelling. I was raised with no big outbursts of emotion in any form. DH’s family showed all emotion at the top of their lungs expect DH. When he is angry he is very quiet and needs to have some time and space alone. I learned to like his family’s way of showing emotion and ended up being being a yeller when we were younger. Thankfully I learned that it really doesn’t do anything except make a lot more noise so now if we have a disagreement we usually just give each other space.
I’m very tired and in pain. I’m so glad tomorrow is Friday

Machka, I have used Katla 49 and I like it. It combines the first three letters of my first name and the first two letters of my last name. 49 is my birth year. It is simple & I like it. What do you suggest? Have you been pushed to change your name? How did you get what you like?0

So use that one then!
MFP has never suggested I change my user name. They don't do that. However, if you can't remember your password, there will be a message that either your user name or password is not correct.
Did you forget your password?

Tracey-thanks for sharing Covid experience. Wednesday has been worst day in terms of aches and head stuffiness etc. Have not had a real fever. Mainly just really tired and feel disconnected. I also have noticed the vertigo-primarily in the morning. I do hope that goes away! Where are you having pain? Still your back/hips?
Kylia-congrats on passing all tests. I know they can be a pain to go through but really, with some of these if they catch things early there is such a good chance of dealing with things that once were a death sentence. Dd not realize how warm it was here until you gave temperature.
Terri-I rather envy your Latin study group. I only took a year or so of it but quite liked it. I have also wanted to learn to read Classical Greek. For some reason I want to read Aristotle and Plato in the original. I think those may well be some retirement endeavors.
Picking up groceries at 9:30. Think I may go for short walk (like around a block or two) just to get fresh air.
Have a good day all,

Ginny - we caught covid on our cruise, but didn't realise we had it until we got home and tested. The worst of it, for me, was two weeks of tiredness. Really, really tired, and loss of interest in doing much. Don't beat yourself up if you take a while to get back into gear.
Quiet, recovery day today. People and travelling take it out of me, but I'm so, so glad I went. B says she will fly down south again in the summer, so I hope we can coordinate a meeting then.
I've been done my exercises and am just about to start some writing admin to get ideas for my book in the right places and print a poem. Not creative, but I do like to be tidy.
I did a Waitrose delivery order this morning. Coming tomorrow before lunch. Everything is sooooooo expensive. I had to wait until DH'S state pension had gone in to the joint account. Luckily, February and March are council tax free months, which has helped enormously.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx2 -
