Tina, I hope your weird headache isn’t Covid. One of the few downsides to living in this senior community is the increased exposure - in the dining venues, at fitness classes, at activities of all kinds. There are a lot of people in independent living isolating in their apartments or cottages right now. The problem is, the day before the symptoms start, while still feeling perfectly fine, the infected person is highly contagious.

I actually considered that for a split second, but it's completely gone today. I suspect the weather.3 -
Tere ... welcome back!
Ginny ... sorry to hear you have Covid. Hopefully it will be a mild case!
Katla ... hugs ...
My husband and I still have to get our wills, POAs, etc. taken care of. We have put this off way too long!
Today, I've been ruthlessly going through sorted photos. This is the second go-through of my mom's mixed up photos and is only the tip of the iceberg of what I need to do ... but it's a start!

Hello. I found this group and thought I should introduce myself. I’m 59 years old, with a few months till the big 60. I started my weight loss journey in January 2022 at 186.2.
My lowest weight was 155.7, but of course I got lazy, also let my pain get the best of me, and am now 166.2.
I’m fighting the neuropathy that I inherited from Covid and the vaccine. So, to make a long story short I’m rehabbing from being paralyzed.
I have enjoyed reading the group posts. They gave me a feeling of belonging. Hope it is okay to join in with you ladies.

Katla - so sorry about having to sell your house. I know how much you enjoyed watching all the wildlife in and around the river. As I recall your boat was moored close to the house, will it be sold too? Glad you are close to your DD and starting to make new friends. I am so blessed to live with my DD in a house that is good for aging in place.
Ginny - hope you recover quickly.
Tere - welcome back.
We have snow this morning, but not much. I have Ash Wednesday service and choir practice this evening. I am a little worried about driving home after. It is supposed to get really cold and I do not like ice. Need to get soup going in crockpot.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Our new back patio shade. Yesterday had 21mph winds and held up great. Gives a golden glow in the dining area of the house.

Ginny sorry to hear about your Covid. Hope it passes quickly.
Kylia yes the prep is a total nuisance. But it will be over soon.
It was supposed to rain today but it hasn't started yet. I might clean up my room a little. See what nasty surprises lurk in the papers.
Thank you Rory for making me laugh and realize Mom is not so bad. Oranges! That must have been a mess. Mom is very good about keeping food downstairs, and Teddy gets the crumbs.
Today is yoga and aerobic walking after lunch. I was looking at weighted bars, for when I need to change things up a bit. I'm afraid of dropping the dumbbells, so I stick to a low weight. But a bar might be safer. What do you ladies think?
Annie in Delaware
When I go to a higher weight, I do seated curls, one arm at a time, with slightly limited range of motion and my other hand just touches the dumbbell lightly ... and may help a tiny bit to squeeze out reps 11 and 12.
That way I am not likely to drop anything.

Headaches ... I have had a wicked one like the front left quarter of my head is being hammered. It's been there since late January.
New glasses helped a bit.
Pretty sure it's stress.
Funny thing is that I was working on a work project all evening yesterday and about midnight I decided to go to bed "because I was getting a headache" ... meaning that other parts of my head were starting to hurt as well as the usual part!

Rebecca— If your DH’s blood sugar was high, has he gone to a doctor? I hope he sees his doctor to investigate his blood sugar levels. ⭐️
Vicki—My health is good & I am thankful. 👍🏻
Tere Williams— WELCOME BACK! 😊 It is wonderful to see you are here.🌹
Sue in WA—Our boats have been sold. DH has had serious health issues. Right now he is working to improve his health in a nursing facility near our daughter’s home in Illinois. He is getting excellent care from RN nurses. I have an apartment near him and see him every day. I am pleased that he is doing better. I hope he will continue to improve. 💖

Will have to do some skimming so I apologize to anyone in advance if I don’t comment. Also, so many times it’s happened where someone else says exactly what I meant.
Anyway, Tuesday I did a total cardio burn DVD. Went to the church’s thrift store. Laid by the pool. I was going to play cards at this one lady’s condo, but Vince was fine while we were having dinner. After dinner he went to the bathroom and when he got up, he was in excruciating pain. So much that I had to pick up the remote off the table, put on his shoes, etc. We called 911 and they took him to the hospital. He has to go for an MRI. The MD office here is going to call him to set it up.
Got a whopping 2 hours of sleep, this morning I did an extreme cardio DVD then went to WalMart to get the prescription for the muscle relaxant for Vince. He says it isn’t doing anything, but I can see that he’s not in as much pain. I suspect it also needs to build up in the system but he wants immediate relief.
The plan for tomorrow is to do an Advanced Strength Training DVD. A friend of mine down here (I met her when I went to the Y a few years ago) is coming over. I’m thinking that there’s this French place across the street, I’d like to go there for coffee/tea/whatever. I’ve heard that the food is good
Lanette – we’ll be here until March 20. I already miss my dishwasher, and it’s only been a few days!!!! Like Kylia, our leak was from the faucet, it wasn’t tight enough
oh, yesterday afternoon I took a walk to the Christmas store across the street. The lady who is coming here tomorrow got me (at my request) and ornament that says “Titusville” but it’s really larger that I wanted plus it has the year on it. Well, that doesn’t mean anything to us. So the man made me one that I like. I’m not going to tell her I got it, tho. It was nice of her to go out of her way for me.
Katla – hugs
Allie – do you think Tom would be mean enough to withhold (or at least threaten to) homer from you if you don’t agree to lowering the alimony? Nice hair! I just want to squeeze and hug Miles. Will you do it for me?
Ginny – I’m so sorry you’re positive. Hope it doesn’t last long
kylia – hugs for Aubrey
Tere – WB
I’ve never been able to touch my toes, either, and it’ll probably never happen in this lifetime
To all those in the wake of the storm – stay safe
Belinda – (Love the name). Welcome
Sue WA- Holy crapola! You just reminded me that today is Ash Wednesday! Good thing we're having fish! Where does the time go to?

walk was good. Not as windy or quite as long as yesterday but better than nothing. Just hit 5 miles.
High for today and the next three days is only 49 which I know isn't that bad for many of you but that is a bit too cold to really enjoy the walk. Hard to breath when it is too cold.
Having a mocha to try and warm up.3 -
Thanks for all the fiber feedback. We eat fairly well, so I'm not going to worry about it yet.
Well, woke up to a branch broken off a tree (no other damage), some outdoor furniture tossed around the yard, and a kaput hot water heater. The plumber came out and we will be getting yet another new one to the tune of $4500 tomorrow. So much for that short trip I had planned.
No exercise today that will cause me to sweat. I'm not taking a cold shower if I can have a nice hot one tomorrow.
The wind is still screaming through today. It is supposed to mellow late this afternoon. It's a bit scary watching the trees sway that much.

Feb 22 ask for help! Done.
True winter has come to the coast.
Rori my Colorado friend got 5” of snow last night. Thought of you and Mars.
Karen are belly dancing classes offered in your new residence?
Ginny Covid on top of long cold and sinus infection? Hope your MD has a good rx for you.
Allie love the pic of your hair and your smiling face!
Kylia, hope those berry flavored sodas are not red… Prayers begin again for Aubrey and her family.
Welcome back @terewilliams Tere from Va! Please catch us up on your year.
Carol “…I cannot control his decisionis” Truth! All you can do is make healthier options available. You can lead a horse to water…
Annie SWSY suggests gradually increasing weights until you can just barely do 8 reps while maintaining form. I have both 3 and 8 lb dumbbells, and a set that I can make 5 lbs or more, kind of like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/CAP-Barbell-40lb-Vinyl-Dumbbell-Pair/653658712 Do you have a thick gym pad you could stand on in case you drop the weights? Got ours at WalMart. Use some to stand on at the sink when washing dishes. Like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/ProsourceFit-Puzzle-Exercise-Mat-1-2-Thick-EVA-Foam-Interlocking-Tiles/49967567
Debbie Lovingly and with concern, I cannot help but say that yelling and throwing things is unacceptable behavior in a 60 year old adult. Have you read the boundaries book? We can want others to feel/care/act/do differently but it is entirely out of our control All we can do is set boundaries for ourselves and what behaviors we will not subject ourselves to.
Welcome @grmabea63 Belinda from NV! So sorry to hear of the neuropathy and paralysis. Are you getting PT?
Pip love Yogi and Chispas in brace
Sue I’m staying home so long as our roads are icy, wish you could too.
Machka that is too long for the same headache to linger. What does your new pcp say?
Michele how scary. The hospital sent Vince home without doing the MRI? SMH.

Good evening ladies!
Michele Hope Vince is okay. Sounds like a scary episode!
Barbara and Machka I'm afraid of dropping a dumbbell on my foot, or worse, my face! I do chest presses and flies and such on my back on the carpet. I just need to make sure my wrists are strong enough before I lift more weight.
I did my yoga and aerobic walking Yay! So that's a 247 calorie deficit today. Yay!

Just a quick fly-by...
Tere - Welcome back!
Allie - Love the new hair, girlie.
Debbie - I keep a pair of kid's football gloves to use when I'm lifting dumbbells. They're just like regular gloves, but have non-slip grip surfaces. My hands are always so dry that my grip is not good on anything like that, and the gloves work for the elliptical and the rower as well. Keeps from clenching my hands so hard just to keep hold of the grips and keeps me working on my form. Much more secure, much less likely to drop weights.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR5 -
I’ve had to quickly read through tonight. DH called in sick to spend the evening with me. My BF also called and we talked almost 2 hours.
A nice evening

Well, Vince was having back spasms, he said that the muscle relaxant wasn’t doing anything. It was worse tonight than yesterday so back to the hospital. Got another prescription so after exercise tomorrow looks like it’s back to WalMart for me to get it filled.
I learned from last night at the hosp. So I took my tablet with me and played mahjongg while we were waiting. We got home at 11. It seems whenever you are prepared, it never happens. I was prepared for a long wait, and it didn’t happen
Tina – we just had to get a new hot water heater. No fun until it was installed. Taking a shower in the winter in cold water is for the birds.
Barbara – evidently, the hospital doesn’t have the facilities for the MRI. Not sure where we go for it
I’ve given up eating after dinner for Lent. Of course, I did that for the last few years and always failed. I’ll try again.
Unfortunately, with going to the hospital, couldn’t go for my walk around the parking lot. Oh well…. I did get to lay by the pool and take a bit of a nap, tho
Well, off to bed.

I'm not sure you would want to go to a bar if you're doing exercises while lying on your back.
If you drop a bar across your neck or chest you could do some serious damage.

Only if you're interested in doing something like this as we go along ...
Feel Good Feb and/or Exercising the Alphabet in FebruaryFeel Good Feb
https://www.actbelongcommit.org.au/programs-initiatives/feelgood-feb/
Exercising the Alphabet in February
In other words, on February 1, you'd walk to a street that starts with A or do an exercise video hosted by someone whose name starts with A or something ... A.
On February 2, you'd go swimming at a Beach or play a game of Baseball or something ... B.
On February 3, you'd go Cycling or Climb some stairs or something ... C.
and so on.
There are, of course, 26 letters in the alphabet and 28 days in February, so you'd have 2 free days if you didn't exercise those days or couldn't fit in the next letter of the alphabet.I have listed several January highlights so that meets the calendar suggestion for February 1...
And I walked to the Asian "dollar store" next to the Asian grocers and bought Art supplies at lunch today. That'll be my A.
Put myself in someone else's shoes --- I've been treating my difficult work colleague with kindness by talking to her about her son, complimenting her skirt, talking quietly and gently to her and so on.
And today, I walked to Bathurst Street to Buy some Books. I also climbed stairs in my Building.
Watch a movie that reminds me of kindness --- probably not tonight!
C is for Climbing and walking on Collins St!
Take a picture of three things that make you happy --
D is for exercising Downstairs!
Rowing - 16 minutes
Walking - 38 minutes
Weights - 10 minutes
Be kind to yourself -- Sleep, gardening and cycling!
E is for Exercising!
Plus we cycled on Endeavour Ave and the Esplanade.
Start a conversation with someone new --- I'm not the sort to strike up random conversations, or conversations at all. But I did chat with a person I met recently and one I haven't seen in a few months today.
And ... F!
Consider a current struggle. Write down two thoughts that bring you comfort.
Hmmm ... A current struggle, like only one? Let's go with waiting. I feel like I spend most of my life waiting.
And a walk to the botanical Gardens through the rose Garden!
Consider and celebrate diversity! Does that include people who look at things completely differently than you do? If so ... woohoo! I've had that opportunity today!
H is for Hobart - walking around. And Hanging clothes outside.
Identify a role model who embodies perseverance and find 2 ways to emulate them.
Well, I don't have role models ... and I've persevered as much or possibly even more than many people I know.
However, today was brought to you by the letter I. I did walk by and around IMAS (Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies).
Check an item off your to do list this weekend!
YES! I tidied a shelf in the kitchen. I've been meaning to do that for months but finally did it today. There was a large quantity of rubbish on that shelf ... more than I thought. So, much of the cleaning process was just throwing things out.
I've also been dusting our entertainment unit and all the stuff on it.
And I went outside and tidied the area right in front of our front door which involved moving a whole bunch of pots and other garden things to a different location and then sweeping out a year's worth of leaves and stuff. I climbed up and down and up and down stairs doing that.
This evening I made an attempt at digging the area I want to plant things next to my dry stream. I got a new spade which is great, but even so, there are so many roots, I'll need to use something else to break it up.
Just getting rid of Junk and Jabbing the Soil
Make twice as much for dinner and either invite guests or deliver a meal to a friend ...
We're actually doing that sort of dinner thing on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, all my exercise was in K ... Kingborough today!
Cycling:
Heaving a heavy mattock in the garden:
And walking our Kitty, Rhody.
Make a list for the week ahead so you stay focused.
I have one massive ongoing things to do list with the most urgent things at the top.
L
Walking exercised my Legs.
Gardening exercised all my Limbs!
Consider a recent disagreement. Did you extend forgiveness?
Yes.
I don't like being at odds with people.
M
Meandering around Bunnings.
Moving the Mattock.
Express creativity! I finished another version of my Project Plan!! That's as creative as I had a chance to be today.
N = Nowhere
I walked the stairs to nowhere and the road to nowhere.
If you are in line today, let someone go ahead of you. I do every now and then.
O - walking Rhody near home.
The next time someone does something you appreciate, let them know. I did today!
P - Perusing the shops today while it rained outside and Purchasing a few things.
Offer a helping hand to someone such as holding the door for a stranger. I do this now and then ... probably about once a week.
Q is for Queen.
My lunch walk was around the Queen's Domain!
Share about a recent book you read and what you learned.
The recent books I have read have been fictional mystery/suspense, and I have confirmed I like this genre for relaxation and stress relief.
R is for Rocks.
Hauling rocks. Placing rocks.
And walking Rhody.
Show sincere appreciation when someone serves you food or drink. I always thank my husband when he serves dinner.
S is for ... Sifting and Shovelling through Soil. Gardening ... I was gardening.
Compliment someone today. I didn't have a chance today because there was hardly anyone around.
T is for Target!
It was raining again today so I walked through the shops.
Where was I before I was swallowed up by work??
Feb 21 - When you recognise someone is struggling, offer words of support.
Frequently, with my husband
U - Another rainy day so I walked up and down through the shops.
Feb 22 - Ask for help. That's a simple way to express bravery
I frequently ask for help. I don't often get help, but I ask.
V - Vinnies!! I walked to Vinnies ... but didn't buy anything. 3.15 km plus commute walk.
Feb 23 - Encourage your teammates to utilise their unique strengths
Yes, and I thanked so many people today.
W - Walked!! 2 km plus commute walk.
