@tarun_yadavA yeah, white chocolate would definitely be too sweet with a cream egg.
@shanaber Glad your toe is healing up.
@Laurz9191 Hail would be terrible to run in! You have been doing great with training. You are definitely ready and can’t wait to hear how it goes.

3/8: 4.2 miles
3/9: 4 miles

3/11: 6.9 miles

Logging 2 runs today. We spent the whole day yesterday sawing downed branches, dragging them to the burn pit, and burning. It was a lot of work but the yard is looking better. My family is headed home today for various appointments so I am spending this afternoon collecting and burning what I can. It’s raining a fair bit of tomorrow so it will be a rest day. Then it may be too wet to really burn after that so just going to do what I can the rest of this week.4 -
Weather kept me from running the last two days (yucky sleet-like stuff changing into snow). Today was clear but ridiculously windy, so not much fun.5 -
@tarun_yadavA - that is a tough question and varies somewhat depending on the time of year and my mood I guess.
I love Pecan Pie and have an awesome recipe with Jack Daniels in it. It is a family favorite that my daughter now makes.
During the holidays it would have to be Mince Pie
In the summer a frozen peanut butter pie with a chocolate crust
Of course then there are the good old standbys - cherry and apple
So really... just pie 😁5 -
Nothing exciting today. Just 7 treadmill miles. I really wanted to hit 100 miles at the halfway mark of the month. Didn't quite get there, but close.

@katharmonic Glad to hear that they don't think you'll need follow up treatments. Glad you got in some cleaning, even if it was due to stress. Hang in there. Hugs and prayers.
@chris_in_cal It's great that you beat the weather and got your run in! Wind is so hard. You did great!
@kgirlhart I don't see many shooting stars and when I do they sort of scare me for a second. The days will get longer soon and hopefully you will get to see the sun rise again.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Good that you did extra to work off the "egg."
@Laurz9191 I can't imagine running in the hail. You are doing great and sounds like you are ready for your race. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
Running and limbs is a great workout @martaindale !
You're doing great @Scott6255 . So close to 100 miles...way over half way to your goal!
I did do my exercise before heading out to work again. Today's plan called for 45 min easy. I was planning on a wun, thinking I wouldn't run much. So, I walked 5 min and then ran at 4.2 mph until my HR got up to 130. I was surprised that was almost 10 min. I then walked until my HR got back down to around 120, which didn't really take long at all. So, I continued with that method, not really counting minutes, but by HR. I did make sure that I "ran" enough to make at least 2 miles and then walked 10:50 min to make a mile walking. From Garmin, it looks like I figured it pretty well. It was slow, but I'm counting it as 1 mile walk and then 2.1 mile run in 30:33 min for an average pace of 14:32 min/mile (4.1 mph). My avg HR was 117, with a max of 125. Total time was 46:28 min.

Not running related but if anyone is interested in watching some of the National Agility Championship it is streaming Friday - Sunday.
Sunday will be the big day with the finals and all of it is run by jump height (I am not certain of the specific order but probably small to tall). You can find it here:

Went to the dermatologist today and got cut up a bit, I might have to miss 3/4 days.

Morning everyone!
Today's 9K
@shanaber interesting choice! 🥧
'Sweet' - either Pecan, or (I don't know if you have it your side of the Pond) 'Bakewell' (basically, Cherry-Almond frangipan type thing).
'Savoury' - ummm... A mushroom+leak (or even plain mushroom) in a creamy/cheese type thick sauce inside the pie4 -
March 1 – 5.05 miles
March 4 – 12.01 miles
March 6 – 5.02 miles
March 8 – 5.09 miles
March 11 – 18.97 miles
March 15 – 5.14 miles
March 16 – 5.15 miles
Total – 56.43 miles
Today’s run was so much harder than yesterday’s. Temp was a nice brisk 25F but at least the wind wasn’t blowing like it was at the first of the week. I could not force myself to get outside on Monday or Tuesday (I did walk on the treadmill on Tuesday so as not to be a total sloth).
@shanaber – Glad your toe nail procedure went well and it sounds like you are well on the mend. The agility competition sounds like it would be fun to watch.
@Scott6255 - Your speed and consistency is just amazing! Oh and “I went too fast” are words you will never hear me utter!
@quilteryoyo – Are you working the Flyboys games at the stadium this year? Our track club volunteer director mentioned the other night that he would be tied up on several evenings with the games.
@katharmonic – 10 inches of snow? That’s just 10 too many! I am so ready for Spring!
@Laurz9191 - You are a beast running in hail! You are going to be so ready for whatever race day brings!
@kgirlhart – You are doing so well with your streak!
Hope you heal quickly @chris_in_cal

Didn't get out Sunday or Monday because of the weather, but finally made it out Tuesday. Walked 1.75 miles with my coworker. 30 degrees and windy, but we went out anyway. Will probably walk together again today, and it's supposed to be warmer and sunny!
Yesterday, mid 40s and sunny. Decided to run/walk to the grocery store and to panera for dinner. On the way there, 1.4 miles of running and walking intervals, then just walking on the way back.6 -
Nice 6 miles @kgirlhart .
Glad you got things taken care of @chris_in_cal . Sorry that you'll have to take a couple days off though. Still better to get it before it's worse. Mom went a couple of weeks ago and had several places frozen. Always the end of her nose which looks pretty bad for a week or so.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Is the weather better?
Nice run @Teresa502 . Sorry today was a hard one. I am not working at the games. I haven't since they switched to the Fly boys. I just don't have as much time as I used to. I do miss seeing the familiar faces though.
That's a great way to get your exercise @ScienceofTeaching .

@tarun_yadavA - ohhh I never even considered savory! Shows how my brain works 😁 Does quiche count? I love a good spinach/veggie quiche. Also a savory chicken pie. Unfortunately they have both have so much fat and calories they fall into that once in a very long while category.
No running or walking for me today - we are off to the other side of LA to visit Griffith Park and a museum or two.4 -
-
@tarun_yadavA Believe it or not, I haven’t eaten pie in years! No one in my family likes pie, so I would be the only one eating it. I don’t think I need that many calories . So if I were to have pie, I would be happy with pretty much whatever kind I got.
If quiche counts, then pumpkin quiche. It’s kind of like pumpkin pie but with a bit of cheese instead of condensed milk. My son loves it, but I haven’t even made than in way over a year.
@chris_in_cal Hope you heal up soon and can get back to running!
@shanaber Thanks for the link. I like watching agility. Before I had kids, I had an Australian shepherd (Frodo) who I did agility, sheep herding, and mantrailing with. It was all lots of fun.
Today I did an “easy” 10km. I was trying to up my cadence, so maybe I can make my running more efficient. At least that’s the theory. It kind of worked. My average cadence went up from 165 to 169. However, my heart rate and pace were also a bit higher than usual, so I probably need to keep practicing that. I think I will have mostly easier runs from now to race day.
So far for March I’m 118/175km.

I hope you enjoyed your day @shanaber .
Great running @Mari33a !
You're doing great @Laurz9191 .
I did another treadmill session before heading off to work today. I must say, it helps when I don't have to be there until 11:00 and I love not having to worry about how I'm going to fit it in after I get home.
Anyway, the plan called for another 45 min low intensity run. I walked a total of 1 mile for warm up and cool down (counted that as part of the 45 min). Since today was 4 straight days of running, I decided to run at a faster pace so I would get my HR up quicker and get to walk more to keep it below 130 bpm. You know what they say about the best laid plans.....I ran at 4.5 mph and it took over 15 min before my HR reached 130 bpm! ?! I mean, I'm happy, but that didn't follow my plan to walk more at all. LOL After that, it did go up quicker, but also came down quickly. I walked 4 times for 1 - 2 min each, so not a whole lot. I ran 2.25 miles in 30:50 min for an average pace of 13:42 min/mile (4.4 mph). My avg HR was 123 with a max of 137 bpm. That 137 was only for a a couple of seconds toward the end of the run.

The temperature was nice this morning, but OMG it was windy. I started out running straight into 20 mph winds. It was really hard to run in. So I just tried to relax and run easy and ended up with 5.5 miles. The wind is still howling and a cold front will be coming in so the next couple of days will not be my ideal running weather. But I will suck it up and get out there anyway.

Got in 8 treadmill miles this evening.
6 -
What's up with all the tickers rendering so small? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯2
-
Morning all. Happy Friday!
Got in the 'ushe' - 9k
@quilteryoyo - weather here is crappy. Not cold or snow/ice. Just stereotype England. Overcast, cloudy, drizzle.
@Laurz9191 - would you call a strudel a member of the pie family?
Thoughts on German desserts? Strudel? Beanschtik (sp?).4 -
Great run in the wind yesterday @kgirlhart .
Nice run @Scott6255 . I can't answer your question. They were fine yesterday.
Nice drizzle run @tarun_yadavA .0 -
@chris_in_cal Hoping for good results for you. My husband has gone through that a few times now, all precancer things so far. Glad you're taking care of yourself.
@tarun_yadavA As an American I never consider savory pies. Mushroom and leek sounds right up my alley! For sweet, I love almost all pies but especially those with a toasted meringue top, like a lemon, chocolate, or coconut pie. My mom makes the best coconut pie I have ever had. I try them occasionally in bakeries and have yet to find one as good as my mom's.

Super windy today! We got all that wind @kgirlhart had yesterday. 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. I met up with my neighbor for a short run. We waited until the wind chill got above freezing because I didn't have the clothing for anything lower. The actual temps were really nice this week so I was prepared for 40s and above. As we would go up and down hills or make turns, we would get hit with the headwind and it felt like we were running in place. I'm glad I had some company today. This run could have been a lot harder if I was alone.6 -
Got in a 9.5 km this morning. It’s the earliest I’ve gotten out to run in a while. That was nice and the sun was actually shining. Was meaning to do less, as I was supposed to start tapering today, but I had just read an article on the Barkley Marathons and was reminded at how they do the laps in the race 2x counterclockwise, 2x clockwise and then 1x basically a coin flip. I thought that sounded fun (my course was not at all challenging like the Barkley- pretty much flat, unpacked but smooth walking path around a small lake with lots of geese), but I liked the idea of changing directions. So that’s what I did .
@tarun_yadavA Yes, I think a strudel could be considered a mini pocket pie. Can’t say I’ve had one of those in several years though either.
@Scott6255 I was wondering what was up with the mini tickers myself. Maybe an eye test … I’m always amazed by how you get such long runs in on the treadmill!
So far, for March I have run 127.5/175km. I definitely underestimated my mileage this month…6 -

@martaindale hey Sarah... Oooh that Coconut 🥥 pie sounds dee-lish 🤤
Oh by the way, did the grocery shopping today... Look what I picked up!
Soooo good.

@tarun_yadavA ok that's cruel 🤣3

This is the first one that hit. Now removed and hopefully gone for good.
Happy St. Patrick's day everyone.

@martaindale Great running in those windy conditions. I'm glad you had company to help you along.
Great running @Laurz9191 . Changing direction is a great way to break up a run.
That ice cream looks good @tarun_yadavA ! You had me at the caramel.
Got my workout in this morning, again. Today was a tempo run. I did cut it a little short from the plan, due to time. I walked a total of 1.0 mile for warm up and cool down. I did a run/walk of 4.5 for 5 min then 5.0/3.8 to keep my HR between 130 and 140 bpm for 20 min, then walked a couple of minutes and ran at 4.5 to 30 min point then 4.2 mph to end. I ran at 5.0 mph for 8 min before my HR got to 140, then it was up and down quickly....mostly ran 2 min and walked one after that. Total run was 2.50 miles in 32:48 min for an average pace of 13:07 min/mile (4.6 mph). Avg HR was 132 and max was 146 bpm. The higher number was at the end when I didn't want to walk the last part of the tempo 20 minutes.

Three people actually finished the Barkley this year! I was glad the guy who hallucinated and was found wondering in a nearby town last year made it to the finish this year - with only minutes to spare.
