I'm always cautious about sharing publicly online. But, I'll give some info.
1. Age: mid-50s
2. Live: I live in California, USA
3. Work: Working part-time with no set schedule.
4. Family: The mister. Lots of family that don't live nearby.
5. Sports: I like running and walking, hiking, kayaking, and really enjoy the golf driving ranges; just don't make it there often. I like watching sports.
6. Hobbies: Reading, travel, cooking. Until recently, I never had time for hobbies, so I don't really have many. I don't cook much anymore either. That just leads to eating.
7. Season: Fire season is the worst with earthquake season a close second, only because they are few and far between (thankfully). If the temp gets below 70F, we demand our Sunshine tax back. There's been a lot of that the past few months.
8. Movie: Those that make me laugh, though I don't have much patience for sitting through movies these days. Haven't seen a really funny one in quite a while.
9. Pet: We just adopted the neighbor's cat part-time.
10. Food: It's easier to choose a least favorite. I really don't like broccoli, yet eat it anyway.

The Family Stone is another movie I like.

Nice sunny day, spent it all outside, got a ton done. Will catch up tomorrow.

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1323 calories. I had a little ice cream. I notice that when I worry about my parents, I turn to food.
I did twenty minutes on the bike, an hour of yoga, and thirty minutes of aerobic walking. Yay! So my final deficit was 253. Yay!
One of the neighbors is having a very loud party. At least Teddy isn't barking at it. I feel so old when the music is too loud for me.
Well, it was a long day.

Occasionally I think it might be nice to go to a movie, so I look at the selections ... and there's just nothing appealing at all.
There have been a lot of remakes recently which leads me to wonder if they're completely out of ideas.

Heather - no pregnancy confirmed yet. They are going to do the IVF route as the chances of success for their situation is much higher than the IUI. She doesn’t have any reason not to get pregnant, it’s just the IUI is only 14% chance. The cost of several of these makes up for the cost of the IVF
It will be exciting and exhausting having the sleepover. I am always tired when the kids leave.
Ginny - I can’t imagine you managing like my boss. She talks down to people, finds fault with every word you say and thing you do and cuts you off. I’ve gotten to the point that I want to record any conversation with her. I was in trouble a while ago because she told me to do something in front of 3 witnesses and argued with all of us that she never said it. I won’t do anything not in writing now and she most times refuses to put it in writing.
I managed for 20+ years and wanted a break from it. What a mistake.
Annie - this is a funny thing my brother did to keep my Mom safe. She had driven the car until she ran out of gas. Thankfully she was in the driveway when she ran out. She called me complaining that her car wouldn’t work and that my brother (a mechanic) was too busy to look at it.
I called my brother, he told me that he knew what was wrong and was just letting her believe he didn’t have time so she would stay home and he wouldn’t have to worry. He didn’t “look at it” until after her drivers licence expired. She then needed a medical to get it renewed and she didn’t pass. It took all the “parenting” off of his shoulders and because mom was rule follower she just agreed with the doctor. A few months later he sold her car for her.
Beth - I do like the job, the problem is there is no one above her. She reports to the board and we know from the last time a complaint was put in, by one of our unions, that the board showed her all the details. She has just made it harder for that person. One staff member that quit put in for EI and was refused because she didn’t go to HR. She was HR, the current HR has no say, she just follows whatever order the boss gives. I thought she would be retiring soon, but I don’t think she is now.
It makes me sad I have to leave, but I don’t know where else to turn.
I think I need to watch Under the Tuscan Sun. Several of you listed it as a favourite.
I think the next movie I’ll be going to is in May, “Are you there God, it’s me Margaret” with my girls. In July I have promised to take Michaela to see Barbie.
I had a peaceful, lazy, day. My back isn’t as sore and my headache went away.
I made a shirt for myself.
Tomorrow I am going to a one year old’s birthday party with my girls and the grands. The one year old is an honorary Grand, so is her eleven year old brother.

I've never seen or heard of Under the Tuscan Sun ... I just looked it up and see that it came out in 2003. That was right when I was going through some major life changes and was not watching movies.

14. Relax your body & mind with yoga, tai chi or meditation. Yesterday’s massage.
15. Get active by singing today (even if you think you can’t sing) In the car to Shadow
Ran into T at Grocery Outlet. Since the sun was shining (for the first time in forever) we decided to take a stroll. Wind was BRISK so we stuck to the sheltered path. Strolled again today in a different park, better sheltered. Been too chilly to play in the dirt. Rain returns Sunday.
Welcome back @_sirenofthesea_ Hope you’ll share pics of Peter, Pauley and Panther.
Oh Kim. ((hugs)) Thankful for PTs words to your mom. Hope if she persists they WILL call senior services. You have done everything you could do and so much more than I would have. Unless/until she’s declared non compos there is nothing more you can do. ((hugs))
Beth your mother’s comment=Brilliant!
Ginny said a prayer for an “all clear” PET scan.
Margaret the "tacos" meme.
Lisa “serial moth murderer” Kim’s “…wily…” mom, mot juste.
Carol, “The sun is shining…” Amen, sister AMEN!
Machka gardening absolutely counts as relaxation, can be meditative too!
Flea great news!
Annie well done for getting your father to urgent care. Seems like a long time to wait for a C-19 result. Will you and your Mom mask since he won’t isolate?
Michele that kind of “labor is down” corporate bs is the main thing I do NOT miss about working.
Debbie another prayer said for Destiny and her family.
Tina “… that just leads to eating “ truth this.
Tracey gorgeous pattern you made!

ACTIVE APRIL1. Commit to being more active this month starting today. Yes!
2. Spend as much time as possible outdoors today. Yes!
3. Listen to your body and be grateful for what it can do. Yes! I can garden, which requires all sorts of body motion, and cycle.
4. Eat healthy and natural food today and drinks lots of water. Yes! Ate my usual food and drank lots of water up till about 8 pm. We won't talk about what happened after that.
5. Turn a regular activity into a playful game today. Hmmm ... Walking around the shops? Climbing stairs?
6. Do a body-scan meditation and really notice how your body feels. Achy.
7. Get natural light early in the day. Dim the lights in the evening.
There isn't much light early in the day here. Plus I was sleeping then. Plus it was cloudy, drizzly and rainy all day.
But I do dim the lights in the evening. It's one of many steps I take to wind down in the evenings to prepare myself for the night.
8. give your body a boost by laughing or making someone laugh
I rarely laugh. Most things don't strike me funny.
Lots of things amuse me, but not enough for laughter.
9. Turn your housework or chores into a fun form of exercise
I often do, but as today's work involved sitting at 2 computers, I walked on the treadmill during a break instead.
10. Have a day with less screen time and more movement
Unfortunately, today was another day sitting at 2 computers.
But I did go downstairs to row and lift weights.
Hoping the rain will let up soon!!! It's been 4 days already!
11. Set yourself an exercise goal or sign up to an activity challenge
One of my more favourite areas!!
We aim to cycle at least one 50 km ride each month and have been doing that for a while. At our AGM at the end of March, we got a bag full of these each.
We will have to see when we can fit our April ride in ... the 5 days off over Easter would have been good but it rained and rained and was cold and windy. Snow at higher elevations.
Maybe next weekend ... we'll see.
AND ... one of the bigger running events moved their event to September which is fantastic for me. Originally, it was this month, but I was nowhere near ready to even sign up for the 5K. Now I've got the winter to get in shape.
Also, now that I'm working back in the same building I was in about 16 months ago, with many of the same people, we've started our stair climbing challenge again. We are easing into it this month because of Easter and ANZAC Day but we'll be ready to be much more consistent in May.
The stair climbing challenge is exciting because when I'm busy climbing 20+ flights of 20 stairs each day I am at work, I lose weight.
12. Move as much as possible, even if you’re stuck inside
Absolutely! I climbed stairs.
13. Make sleep a priority and go to bed in good time
I do when I have to work the next day ... make sure I get at least 7 hours of sleep.
But I am not keen on that. I'm a night owl and like to get things done late at night. Having to be in bed by 11:45 pm is a bit uncomfortably early.
14. Relax your body & mind with yoga, tai chi or meditation.
Gardening ... will gardening do?
15. Get active by singing today (even if you think you can’t sing)
I sing every day. My husband is very polite about it.18. Go exploring around your local area and notice new things
19. Be active outside. Dig up weeds or plant some seeds
20. Try a new online exercise, activity or dance class.
21. Spend less time sitting today. Get up and move more often.
22. Focus on eating ‘a rainbow of multi-colored vegetables today.
35. Regularly pause to stretch and breathe during the day.
36. Enjoy moving to your favorite music. Really go for it.
37. Go out and do an errand for a loved one or neighbor.
38. Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wild-life spotting.
39. Have a ‘no screens’ night and take time to recharge yourself.
40. Take an extra break in your day and walk outside for 15 minutes
41. Find a fun exercise to do while waiting for the kettle to boil (or pan of water.)
42. Meet a friend outside for a walk and a chat.
43. Become an activist for a cause you really believe in
44. Make time to run, swim, dance, cycle or stretch today

Yesterday the electrician was here for many hours installing the plug in for the electric car we plan to buy this summer. While he worked in the garage and back yard, Jake and I worked in the yard in front. He has to come back on Monday to finish the installation, then the inspector will come, then he will fill in the trench he dug to accommodate the wiring from the outside source. Jake is doing the research on what car to buy.
We watch a lot of movies at home on Netflix, Amazon, and Tubi. We haven't been in a movie theatre for many years and I have no desire to do so again. At home I can ride my exercise bike and knit and we can pause the movie to take a break and go back if we didn't understand what someone was saying.

Good morning ladies!
Annie - following along with your Dad's memory lapse issues. I'm so glad he's continuing to let you take over things for him and trust your advice. And good for you continuing with your exercise routine! Neat that you've taken to your new bike so well.
Tracey - with your nasty supervisor causing folks to leave - are the positions vacated that easy to fill? Is there a waiting list? Out here is seems there's a shortage of nursing home employees or at least a high turnover. That would make me nervous if I had a parent there.
Flea - great news your DH taking that job. It's so unsettling financially when that happens, plus it works on a person's head (for most people, not all these days) to not be contributing in some way.
I've been watching a lot of FB sites and Youtube gardening videos - mainly to see more about intensive container planting. (Matchka ) Some of the best ones, in my opinion, are from Australia. It's cool to see them getting ready for winter. I've picked up some good tips.
What I did yesterday - nothing earthshattering, it felt good to be busy outside-Weather was nice yesterday, sunshine mid morning after a week of showers and clouds. I ran to town and picked up 4 pkgs of Kodiak Protein Power baking mix at Grocery outlet - $1.50 a bag. Expires in July so tossed them in the freezer.
Then over to Tractor Supply where I bought an 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank - back up temporary home for chicks to get them out of the breakfast nook. It fit perfectly in the back of the Subaru.
Then, I got after the greenhouse and put new plastic on the door. The whole door needs to be replaced - the frame is rotted in several places - but I found enough good wood to fasten it down with staples.
The thought was if there's a delay in getting the chicken coop put together and/or weather warm enough to put the hens in it, I could let them scratch around in the greenhouse for some exercise.
After that greenhouse job was finished, I pulled out the parts of the chicken coop I wanted to seal with polyeurathane, propped them up against saw horses in the shade in front of the shop, and gave them the first coat.
After about 3 hours, they were dry and I decided to brush on another coat. Roger (neighbor across the street) saw me and came over and we went over on how we were going to put it together, changes I wanted to make, etc. HE LOVES THIS STUFF!! He's going to screw on additional roofing and has all kinds of plans. Carol's glad it gets him out of the house. I'm glad to let him take over. He built a little barn for mower storage all by himself several years ago and it's gorgeous. The chickens might have a palace by the time he's done, it's OK by me.
Chatted with him and Carol who also came over for a bit, then they went home and one of the other neighbors was mowing, so I hopped on the Toro and got a lot mowed in the front yard where it wasn't too wet. Cleaned up the edges and under some of the trees with my push mower by 5 and called it a day.
Moral of the story - it was great to be exhaused and I slept nearly 8 hours without having to even get up and go to the bathroom, lol.
That's the catchup for now. Make it a fabulous weekend!

Yes, probably about half our garden is in containers and we can usually keep it going about 10 months of the year.
For example, although it is mid-April = mid-Autumn, we could probably put in snowpeas and have them throughout the winter. They don't seem to mind the cooler conditions, but we might wait till late winter to put them in.

Finally got the book Quit from the library. Popular book right now. Making that decision to quit is a powerful tool in life. He also wrote about how hard it is to quit when we have so much invested in the outcome. Letting go of the outcome is not an easy thing to do.
In the first chapter he did use an example where it can be a matter of life and death. When those who choose to climb Mount Everett before they ascend to the summit give themselves the turn around time of 1 p.m. They decide this time before they go forth because they learned that if they do not stick to this time their risk of death multiples. They learned it is too difficult to make the right decision to quit without this safe guard in place. He did follow with an example of three men who made the right decision to turn around and quit. They lived. Some of those who choose to not quit died. Making the decision to quit is not always a life or death decision. It can decide the quality of life you have.
I know in my own life there are times I stayed too long at the party and did not quit when it was my best interest to do so. I like the idea of giving yourself the power to make that decision instead of the circumstances forcing you to quit.6 -
Tracy ~ Your tee is really cute. So sad you are having to work with someone like your boss. We had a principal at our school one year who was like that. She made everyone walk on egg shells.
Barbie ~ Let us know what EV you plan to buy. At this point, we will stay with our gas powered cars until we just have to give in and buy an EV.
Debbie ~ Glad to hear Destiny is going home and hope the pain management works.
Allie ~ Miles is so cute. Will be glad to see when he gets some hair. My son was bald until he was two yrs old and then he got beautiful black hair. So glad to know that Carmine is enjoying company with a boy as I have always wondered if the trans idea was a phase.
Bright sunshine today! Would like to go to grand son's ball game but am having breathing trouble due to allergies so may stay inside. Have started running an air cleaner in the office and that helps a lot.

Good morning ladies!
Thanks for the encouragement about my Dad. He has forced himself to do some lawn mowing, because it is supposed to rain later. I really need to learn to operate that mower, but I just don't care about the lawn, so it would become an issue. I'm trying to stay away, in my room except for cooking and meals, and then exercise in the basement. I haven't been wearing a mask.
My mom has jumped into the role of nurse. She was an RN sixty five years ago. So she is giving him Tylenol and NyQuil, probably more often than he needs. She won't distance or wear a mask because "it's just a cold."
The next battle will be keeping him home from church.
