Good morning ladies!
Tracey what darling children!
Debbie so sad. Especially not knowing. How old is the missing man?
Machka, I am mostly in my comfort zone. We have a routine. But I feel like it might be disturbed at any moment. My parents won't last forever.
Annie in Delaware4 -
Thank you all!
Debbie Prayers!
Machka I need to look at your chart on my laptop. Then I will know/question more.

Barbie, congratulations on your decision to buy an EV. Please let us know about which one you'll choose and why. I plan to drive my Subaru for many more years but EVs interest me.

Debbie, Sad to hear about the probable suicide, a topic too near to my own heart. I am sad for the family, who will have to bear the knowledge and emotional fallout for the rest of their lives. Forever changed.
Barbara, My spouse feels much better after discontinuing some of her rxs. Her balance and gait have improved a little, but her hand tremor is unchanged. She reports less brain fog. We hope for continued improvement. Thank you for asking.
Tracey, I was once in a situation with a toxic subordinate who, for reasons unknown to me to this day, was being protected and enabled by upper management. I had to leave my position because they would not support me in firing her. It might have been because one of the Vice Presidents was her good friend. One of the other Vice Presidents told me they had all been enabling this toxic individual for years, and it was in my best interest to move on, since I had other good opportunities within the company, so I did. I know it isn’t the same for you, since you are the subordinate, but your company is keeping this toxic supervisor in her job, despite ample evidence that she is chasing good managers away. There has to be a reason for that. Sometimes it is best to move on, as unfair as it is.
Barbie, It is so fun to hear of your excitement about the new electric car.
Kim, Whew! Dodged a bullet. PT heroes.

We currently have a 2017 Subaru Forester with fairly low mileage so if we waited until we "needed" a car, it would be another decade. This is a delightful treat we have decided to give ourselves.4 -
I'm in all the zones! I do try to get out of my comfort zone, if it's feeling restrictive, but some of our routines and habits I just love. I used to be mostly in the fear zone when I was younger, but that has changed significantly in recent years. I am far less afraid of making mistakes than I used to be and that has freed me up to live in the learning and growth zones more often. Life is an adventure.
Seize the day!
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

We all slept very well. The kids didn't come down until 7 am. The Full English Breakfast (menu on a chalk board) was fun and a success. I provided different fruit juices and Edie had the green one. I laid the table properly with napkins and a toast rack etc.
Getting them all to get dressed and packed was a struggle, but we all settled to crafts, with Bea working on her dog again and Edie and I sewing. Max played chess and cards with DH. Edie is creating a windmill and I finished a bell Christmas decoration! It goes nicely with my snowman.
Parents arrived back at 11 and we chatted over coffee. They said it was their best weekend ever.
So now relaxing. I will do some rowing, but I feel a nap coming on. Amazon are delivering some heart shaped porcelain dishes for painting another day. 😍
Still got to tidy up the table !!!!!!!
All worth it though.
Kylia - So glad you got that horrible migraine sorted. I have been deaf for the last few days with earwax (thankfully much better now) and I have been sooooo grumpy with DH. On Friday I ached all day and was really stiff. Not a happy bunny. The weather cleared and I woke up much improved. The deafness and tinnitus especially made me miserable (thinking of Beth).
Ugh. May we be healthy and free from pain!

Debbie Prayers for the family 💕🙏💕1
-
Heather: You do a really great job with crafts...the ones you do yourself and the ones with DH and the grands! You are an inspiration!
Machka: I am in a growth phase and need to re-define myself and find some new activities. Working with the animal rescue and joining the movie group are 2 new activities. I may also participate in a volunteer week end lunch program. That would be 3 new activities. That is probably enough that is new for now.
I did go to adult ed but skipped the service. The service can make me sad. It is a lovely day but it also feels lonely. I will have to make a to do list and take a nap and start the day over rested and ready to go!
Best,
Rosemary from Georgia5 -
my question about this is if your comfort zone is no longer can you go to any other zone?4 -

ACTIVE APRIL
1.Commit to being more active this month starting today. I commit to this by adding the exercises from the 6 minute book for over 60’s.15. Get active by singing today (even if you think you can’t sing). I can’t sing but will sing along with music anyway. Sang “When the ants go marching in” during my walk.
2. Spend as much time as possible outdoors today. Easy! LOL
3. Listen to your body and be grateful for what it can do. I do this during walking meditations every day.
4. Eat healthy and natural food today and drinks lots of water. Yogurt and raspberries for breakfast with 17 oz water bottle and coffee, more to come.
5. Turn a regular activity into a playful game today. Not sure. Joked with hairdresser while getting hair cut. Everyone was laughing and joining in.
6. Do a body-scan meditation and really notice how your body feels. I do this often in my meditations.
7. Get natural light early in the day. Dim the lights in the evening. Morning done. Will do in evening.
8. give your body a boost by laughing or making someone laugh. I will as soon as I can! Did this with friends.
9. Turn your housework or chores into a fun form of exercise. Hmmmm tbd
10. Have a day with less screen time and more movement. I’ll try.
11. Set yourself an exercise goal or sign up to an activity challenge. Already have goals: Yoga 10 mins 3 times a week, Walk 7,000 every day, 6 min HIIT -2x a day, Arm weights twice a week
12. Move as much as possible, even if you’re stuck inside. I will do. Vet this morning then normal day, so will be able to do this.
13. Make sleep a priority and go to bed in good time. Easy Peasy!
14. Relax your body & mind with yoga, tai chi or meditation. I will meditate and try to find time for yoga too. I did all I wanted to do.
16. Go exploring around your local area and notice new things. OOOH, this sounds like fun.17. Be active outside. Dig up weeds or plant some seeds
18. Try a new online exercise, activity or dance class.
19. Spend less time sitting today. Get up and move more often.
20. Focus on eating ‘a rainbow of multi-colored vegetables today.
21. Regularly pause to stretch and breathe during the day.
22. Enjoy moving to your favorite music. Really go for it.
23. Go out and do an errand for a loved one or neighbor.
24. Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wild-life spotting.
25. Have a ‘no screens’ night and take time to recharge yourself.
26. Take an extra break in your day and walk outside for 15 minutes
27. Find a fun exercise to do while waiting for the kettle to boil (or pan of water.)
28. Meet a friend outside for a walk and a chat.

Questions
1. Where are you on the chart above?
I feel like I've been in the Learning Zone since the mid-1990s ... 25-30 years.
2. Where would you like to be on the chart above?
Now ... I'd like to figure out what my comfort zone is and spend a bit of time there. Soon, I might want to move on to the Growth Zone. We'll see.
3. What is your comfort zone? How would you define a comfort zone?
Genuine question because I don't know anymore.
Machka in Oz
1. In the chart, I started out looking at the growth part and found I am doing most all of those. But then I looked at the details of the other zones and find, I am in all of those too. So, I’m not sure where I would be in that chart. 2. Completely in the growth and/or learning zones. 3. My comfort zone is in the learning zone. I’ve done a lot of work to get where I am. It took losing my last job due to nerves then selling everything and moving into full time RVing.

I'm in all the zones to some degree. I think a "comfort zone" is different for each of us, but I suspect many would consider their routines the comfort zone. I'm very introverted, so comfort is being in my own space, whatever that is at any given moment.

Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
AH YES, Tina... gotcha. Like Color, Snow, Missed-it, and Road Construction here in MN, but it seems that the latter has inched its way into almost ALL the seasons now. I think the only time that they don't work on the roads is January, February, maybe March.
Oh Kylia, I'm so sorry. And weather can have a terrible effect on headaches too, so that can't have helped.
Love that chart Machka! I always try to stay on that Learning/Growth cusp. Never want to stop learning, but always want to set goals and try to achieve them.
Well Tracey, that's something to be said of your boss, but maybe thing ONLY thing. Wonder how "her Mom" will love that band in a box in another couple weeks!!! LOL! What a great idea to buy the same outfit in different sizes though. She's a cutie!
So scary, Debbie. Prayers for the family and for you. Heartbreaking when a person is in such depths of despair.
16. Go exploring around your local area and notice new things... wow, having lived here for 38 years, that's a bit tough, but it seems they're building new homes here every single day.
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN4 -

Thank you- Yes, very close to dh's heart too. We suspect his brother's death in a car crash was not an accident but we will never know for sure. When Nick's family said he left the house without his wallet, it really triggered something in dh as his brother also left the house without his wallet that day.
The family will now see, sadly for the first time it seems, just how much they depended on Nick to do everything while they did little. Both of his step daughters have lived in the house with them for free(they are adults, one being Ezie's mom) while he worked more than full time plus watched Ezie in the evenings/weekends, cooked for all of them(the girls are vegan so cooked two meals), ran errands all the time for his wife. Too much for too long it seems. He never could tell them no, I need a break.
His wife is 20 yrs older than him, wanting to retire(no money saved up for it), just bought a house a couple years ago and him looking at being the only one working supporting everyone else. His step daughters could talk to him any way they wanted and his wife allowed it and backed the girls.

Debbie- im praying for a different outcome..
I woke up sneezing my head off..so im guessing allergies.. I havent been anywhere, so don't think it could be Covid. But will take a test anyway..
I did get dressed and got the garbage together..
I don't think Tracy is to happy with me right now.. I made the decision to fly down a day ahead of time for the cruise which means another day off of work for her and she doesn't get paid for not working.. But she could find an alternative..8 -

Did Total Body Bean Blaster DVD then went for a walk. I thought I would be able to use the ball but I found that I had to modify too much since the bean is more stable than the ball, so it’ll go to the Salvation Army. No bowling tomorrow since they’re having the senior games at the bowling alley. But we do have ceramics at night.
Speaking of bosses: this one gal at BK was the manager of the day this past week. All she could focus on was “my labor is down” crap. To me, this is crap. There are things that should be done at certain times. Like I like to do the prep early in the morning and be out of everyone’s way when they get busy for lunch. Of course, this makes her “labor” higher. She kept telling me to do this, do that. Really, just leave me alone and let me do my job. I know what needs to be done and I’m not going to knowingly do too much. She kept cutting corners which, to me, reflects poorly on me. But what can I do? Fortunately, she isn’t the main manager that frequently (I think the last time was about a year ago). So I just let her go on. We usually divide the pickles so that I can pick them up on Sat since Jerry isn’t there for me to have him do it. Well, she said that he’d be there yesterday so when I got there another manager was on duty and I asked her “where’s Jerry”. She said he doesn’t work on Sat. I told her that that’s what I figured, but A told me that he’d be there. Truthfully, A was trying to get me out of there asap so her “labor” was down. She was “helping” me with the onions. I had to go back over and redo things. She said “oh, you’re doing it right”. Well, of course. She told me “they can do it over there” (where they make the sandwiches). To me, they shouldn’t have to do my job. They should get the customer’s order done as soon as possible. The customer is the person who is paying our salaries. She said to the other manager “my labor is down wonder why”. So the other manager said “well, you have B working” Dhhhhh…. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that the more people you have working, the more salaries you are paying. Really, she didn’t need to have Jerry working so early. I’ve seen a lot of other managers/workers doing two jobs (the eggs and sandwiches) early when they aren’t real busy. But she has Jerry doing the eggs and she was doing the sandwiches. And after Jerry finished the eggs, he’s walking around looking for things to do.
I did text the store manager and told her how the manager on duty helped me out and that I really think A was just not aware of the changes. Reality is, I think A just wanted to get her labor down
Another manager who used to micro-manager me all the time. I just let her all the time saying to myself “she’s a moron manager”. Well, she transferred to another BK and in about a month she got fired. No surprise to me.
Tracey – smart bother you have there. Lovely shirt. Did you paint that or is it maybe an iron on transfer? I remember one time my father really needed a coat. I knew that he’d have had a fit if he ever found out what I paid (I wanted to get him a good coat). So I told him that it was on sale for ½ price. Sometimes the things you have to do….lol
Got another invoice from the landscaper, still not reflecting the money we already paid him. I asked Vince to call him Monday since Vince is much more forceful than I am. As a last ditch resort, I’m prepared to make a complaint to the BBB. Hope it doesn’t come to that.
Barbara – corporate sometimes doesn’t think. Like Vince was telling me that his company at one time said that the employees weren’t to get their coffee after they’d punched in. They had to get it before. Only thing is...the coffee was in the building and the only way to get into the building was to swipe your ID card which automatically punched you in. What an ingenious move on their part <sarcastic> They FINALLY realized the stupidity of this and put a kureg machine in the lobby.
Yesterday got everything except the cantilever umbrella outside and the items that need to be hung (speakers and clock). Then cut the grass. I was tired so didn’t go for a walk, but I did get my steps in.
Lanette – I love my freezer. So much gets frozen. Right now I’m trying to make room for all the vegetables and fruits that will be coming into season.
Friday night we went to Lowe's Hardware since Vince needed a small bucket to mix the mortar in to use on the spillover. We got the cheapest since it got thrown out anyway. He started the spillover since he wanted it to set for at least 24 hours and they’re calling for rain tonight. Then again, we all know how accurate the weather man is….lol
Carol – we’re staying with the gas powered car, too. For one thing, right now going to FL is a 10 hour drive with one stop for gas. If we had to make a few stops to recharge, it would probably take us 2 days to get there. You know, I honestly don’t think gas powered cars will ever totally go away. You might not have as many to choose from, and the price of gas will be higher. Oh, I remember that in California (I think it was) they had an electric shortage so people were told not to charge their cars. Wonder where all the electricity will come from?
Annie (and Kim, too) – you amaze me you are such great daughters
Looks like we need a new salt water generator. So until it comes, I’m having to buy more bleach. It’s supposed to be here Tuesday.
Tina – when will you be goind on this trip and for how long? Great thing you’re doing, volunteering and taking your friend’s son
Went to WalMart. Really, the time to go is on Sunday in the morning. Then bought gas. That’s the time to buy it, too
Allie – how precious Miles is. How can you resist squeezing him to death? When our kids were smaller, we had the Little Tykes sandbox. What Vince did was drilled holes in either side and then at night we’d put bolts in it to keep the top from blowing off. Something you might want to think of doing, especially in wintertime.
Debbie – free is always good
kylia – so glad to hear that you’re better!!!!
pip – have fun camping. Wish you lived closer. We have so much camping things that I’d like to get rid of since we don’t use it anymore. A 3-person tent, porta potty, things like that.
Barbie – can’t wait to hear which car you finally decide on!
Sirenofthesea – how I miss my water aerobics! See, the class is in the morning and I’m usually working. Plus, I no longer belong to that gym. But fortunately for me, pretty soon our pool will be open. But I do enjoy a class
Debbie – prayers for everyone. What a horrible story (his sending a kiss)
Heather – I’m impressed with all the crafts you do with the grands. Edie has such a great imagination!

For a second there, I thought that was one of the things I've been colouring!!
I've never seen or heard of Under the Tuscan Sun ... I just looked it up and see that it came out in 2003. That was right when I was going through some major life changes and was not watching movies.

"Under The Tuscan Sun" is definitely a tear jerker. The workers that take on her newly acquired Italian fixer upper are endearing. The characters are all so sweet. I watch this movie about every 6 months, its visually refreshing and the music is emotionally charged. 💖

In the first chapter he did use an example where it can be a matter of life and death. When those who choose to climb Mount Everett before they ascend to the summit give themselves the turn around time of 1 p.m. They decide this time before they go forth because they learned that if they do not stick to this time their risk of death multiples. They learned it is too difficult to make the right decision to quit without this safe guard in place. He did follow with an example of three men who made the right decision to turn around and quit. They lived. Some of those who choose to not quit died. Making the decision to quit is not always a life or death decision. It can decide the quality of life you have.
I know in my own life there are times I stayed too long at the party and did not quit when it was my best interest to do so. I like the idea of giving yourself the power to make that decision instead of the circumstances forcing you to quit.

I left a message with a FB group that's for moms of sailors on the ship. I whined making a message but got really nothing in the way of an answer. One Mom stated she sent a box just fine. Thinking the box might've been sent to the ship before the post office decided to "cut off" receiving mail for the ship. You'd think the post office on base where the ship used to be home ported should just forward the mail instead of returning it.
My other fear is that he has transferred someplace else and isn't on the ship anymore. Its frustrating!

Debbie - so sorry to hear about Ezie's step dad. Sounds like he is in a family situation there he can't see his way out of. Sure hope he is found OK. And my heart goes out to Destiny and her family. I have to wonder in situations like this if she is prepared to "move on" but is going through all of the treatment and amputation to keep her parents' hope alive. I guess where there's life, there is hope. Praying for peace for all of them no matter what the outcome.
Barbie- have fun with the electric car. I think you are right - your Subaru will last forever (and probably outlast you and Jake ) so the decision to get this new car is a treat you deserve. I think they are making them better all the time. For right now, I'm OK with seeing who goes first - my low mileage Subaru or me.
Busy day yesterday - neighbor Roger came over with his rototiller in the afternoon and we made headway preparing where the chicken coop and run will be. I raked the site early this morning before the rain started falling in earnest. We talked about moving some gates and putting up fencing for the run from DH's wire collection. Fun watching his wheels turn.
Then I went to a friend's for a family dinner. Had a great time. These folks are my "adopted" family and we ate and laughed a lot, it was perfect. I realized driving home this is the first time I've been out like that for a meal in someone's home in years. Even when DH was alive, he always preferred to stay home so I'd stay home too (even tho he was fine with me going.)
I downloaded several books from the library you ladies are reading - with the rain it's perfect kindle weather. The Louise Penny series looks intriguing, and I have Sue Monk Kid's book too (thank you Karen!) The only Annie Duke book at our library is "How to Decide" so I'll see what that's about.
OK ladies, have a quiet Sunday. Sending hugs to all in need.

Thank you- her step grandpa really is/was the sweetest man and they took advantage of him.
Last night dh felt that there was a chance he was still alive but when he woke up this morning, he says he knows he isn't. He could feel it. Nick was 20 yrs younger than dh and dh was his boss at Safeway. That is how they met. Dh bought him gifts all the time, things he knew he would like. Always said he was like his kid. He has a gift that he ordered for him for Father's day. The family never did things like that for him
As for Destiny. She has such a strong faith in God that there is a reason she is going through this and she will be ok. Always feeling positive through out all of this

Went to church this morning.
Having a light lunch then heading out to the jungle that is my garden. Sunny but windy so will layer up.
Dh and I are both just trying to stay busy. Still no official word on his friend but there may not be any. He had told one person he would make sure he was never found.
Need to stop procrastinating-need that garden weeded so I can at least get the tomatoes that I bought in the ground. For now, They are warm and toasty in the humid green house.1 -
my question about this is if your comfort zone is no longer can you go to any other zone?
Kim ... Good question. I suspect we are then pushed into the other levels whether we like it or not ... and then have to decide if we want to sink or swim.
Kylia ... I am so sorry you deal with migraines! I would discontinue the heart medication too regardless of whether it was beneficial. You can't function with migraines so what would the point be??
Debbie ... I'm praying for a different outcome for the young man too ...
Rebecca ... is there a way to find a serviceman's current address? Would the Navy give that to you or is this another privacy issue like HIPPA?
Karen in VA ... Glad to hear that some of your wife's symptoms are lessening! It would be nice if they ALL subsided, but something is better than nothing!
It has been an unseasonably warm few days. My husband and I continue to work at yard clean up and, of course, the more we're outside the more that we see needs done. I was hoping we could get the house resided this year, but the one quote from a friend (very reasonable) was higher than we can swing right now. I even did some mowing this afternoon over a spot that is very high due to persistent watering (the dog). The temperatures are supposed to drop fast this evening and there's even a chance of mixed precipitation. Arghh.

I am delighted that I was able to see this thread. We had more wind than I’ve seen in a long time. MFP was not available throughout the area where I live last night. Luckily, today is breezy but not worrisome, and I am able to see everyone’s posts.
