I’m waking up to a sunny morning and looking forward to my first cup of coffee of the day. It looks like a sunny Sunday. 🌞

Terri - Stopped in last night to see if you had entered hospital, glad you've got Easter with the family, instead. Hope all goes well.
Kylia - Hoping you get some good answers too, my dear, and clear direction... I think of you often. Taking care of Kylia instead of everyone else is going to be your hardest job.
Tracey - Those mugs are just charming! Hummingbirds were Mama's favorite, and they will always be in that place in my heart.
Heather - That is way too much people-i-ness than I could ever stand. Makes me glad we're not really on the way to anywhere, and it's a big country. Still had one of Corey's sisters and family stop by last year, but had enough warning, and they brought their RV. You are much more social than I ever have been.
Regarding my dreams when young: I wanted to be an oceanographer. I was born in Jacques Cousteau's heyday after he refitted the Calypso and sailed all over. I wanted to be on that boat and learn to dive. When John Denver's song "Calypso" came out in 1975, I was 15 and it just made my heart soar. Then life got in the way, I ended up in the Air Force in 1979, as the only possible way to go to college and get a degree. Except of course that my recruiter lied and said the GI Bill would get me there... and the GI Bill had ended before I was born. Such is life.
The continuing adventures with Egg: Egg is upset every Sunday when Corey is here, but he's still asleep and hasn't gotten up to get a cup of coffee or petted her. I got her to stop yowling, and finally got her shooed over to her current curl-up on the couch, but she's still pretty cranky. Can't just shut the bedroom door, or she really will throw a cat fit. Tried that her first year. I swear, after a very short period of time, those yowls start sounding like "Moooooooooommmmmmm!" Impossible to igore.
Miss cranky pants giving me the stink eye. For the stylistas, the pillow came with the couch, it's not my style, I'm just a cheapskate and don't want to replace something that works fine.
Time to get some blog writing done - I've struggled with brain fog so much this week that I've done well just to do laundry, much less anything that is actually mental work. There are openings in the fogbank, and right now is one of them, so I'll go take advantage.
Love y'all,
Hope it's a lovely, peaceful Sunday in your neck of the woods,

Morning, Ladies. Just finished breakfast and relaxing over my second cup of coffee. Days are getting nicer and nicer. Still lots of snow but it is slowly going. Allergies act up a little this time of year from snow mold so will be glad when all the melting is done. Quiet day today. Busy making cabbage rolls yesterday to serve for our Easter gathering. Nice big casserole cooked and now in the freezer. Snitched a few to go with our supper last night and they were pretty tasty so happy with that. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Good morning ladies!
My dad got invited to an opera and wants my mom to dress up and go. Dad generally naps for an hour after Sunday dinner, so he is quite likely to fall asleep. My mom doesn't even like opera, and she hardly even goes across the street to my aunt's house anymore. But Dad is an optimist, and in denial over Mom's situation. People with unreliable digestion don't go to fancy concerts much, am I right? It would be great for her to get out, but she considers thirty minutes to go to the podiatrist with me as getting out. What if she got lost looking for the ladies room? They aren't tech savvy enough to use phones. I'm glad she's not going off without me. I just hope I don't get dragged into the opera trip.
I'm lucky that they are so thankful for my presence. They always thank me for making dinner, and for being around when they need me. My Dad is going to be trickier to handle as time goes on. He still walks nine miles a week, and I can see him forgetting the way home as he gets worse. He probably wouldn't even mention getting lost, as it would be a sign of weakness. Yes, he is going to be the tricky one. Mom just sits safely on the couch, and trusts me, and mostly does what I say.
Anyway, that is the situation report from our house. Teddy is still exhausted from the storm last night, so he is snoring away!

I had a delicious breakfast but it was way to rich for my digestive system. 😳 I visited DH for a bit & am back in my place.
The sun is shining & that lifts my spirits. ☀️

Good morning ladies!
Annie - sounds like things are A-OK with the roofers. The fact that they don't require an up front deposit they can abscond with is a good sign they aren't scammers. One thing I like about FB is that on the local groups, if someone has a bad experience with a contractor, it gets posted. There are many things I don't like about FB but this is a plus.
I agree, that "Wendie" plan does sound a little like intermittent fasting.
About fasting & eating breakfast & three meals a day.....
I went down another fasting rabbit hole yesterday. Dr. Valter Longo, who was featured with Dr. Michael Mosley in the Eat, Fast and Live Longer BBC documentary, is saying in recent interviews that according to his research, a person should never skip breakfast. Folks who skip breakfast don't live as long as folks who skip dinner (supper) when fasting. (He does get kind of wiggly and says part of this may be due to genetics - some people are just programmed to live longer no matter how they eat.) Longo also advises seniors not to fast longer than 12 hours.
I ran across others who said similar, even Dr. Jason Fung, who admits skipping supper is not practical however, and he personally skips breakfast - doesn't eat until late morning. His push is for the insulin drop to mediate insulin resistance and healing by eating in a smaller window.
My parents and grandparents always ate breakfast. Three meals a day, hardly ever snacking as I recall.
Farmers needed energy to get going in the morning, and they were hungry when they first got up. As I've mentioned, females in my family gained weight around the middle as they aged, but it didn't seem detrimental as they lived into their late 80's - mid 90's. They ate a lot of dairy, meat and eggs since those foods were readily available = mega protein.
I had a pretty high protein supper yesterday, stopped eating at 4 and was fine - no hunger during the night. Got up at 4 this morning and by 5, I was hungry and ready for breakfast. So 13 hours "fasting". I managed about 20 gm of protein.
I'm curious - as a general rule, do you ladies eat breakfast? Three meals a day? Which meal is your biggest - lunch? supper? In whatever schedule you are using, are you dropping the weight you want to? Happily maintaining whatever weight you feel best at (or within that pesky 5 lbs?) If you are doing time restricted eating, do you find skipping breakfast or skipping supper works better?

I rarely eat breakfast and haven't for decades. The last time I remember eating breakfast regularly was probably in my late teens.
I have been slim and fit most of my life.
I had gained a bit of weight putting me into the overweight range by the end of 2014. In early 2015, I joined MFP and lost 25 kg that year ... and rarely ate breakfast as usual.
I kept the weight off till about mid-2018 after my husband's accident.
I am simply not at all hungry in the morning. It is very rare that I eat before 11 am and usually only when I have an early bicycle ride.
Also, on the occasions when I have eaten breakfast it's like a switch is turned on and I am starving hungry all day. I am significantly less hungry when I don't eat breakfast.
I eat 2 meals a day. Dinner is a bit larger than lunch.
M in Oz2 -
Lanette We always eat breakfast. But we get up rather late so breakfast is more like brunch. Then we have a big meal between 1 and 2. Supper is just fend for yourself. I usually stop eating by 6 pm. I tend to get 13-16 hours fasting with this schedule.
Planted my Italian herb garden yesterday and got 3 tomato plants (3 different types and sizes for varied timing) and 4 pepper plants, 2 sweet and 2 Jalapeño. Along with those, my tubs hold a flower tub, an onion tub, a potato tub, and a lettuce tub. Everything planted. I’ll take pictures after a couple of days when plants adjust to re-planting.
Have a wonderful day!
RVRita5 -
Lanette, I eat nearly the same thing every day at nearly the same time. I've never been diagnosed with low blood sugar but I get a bit light headed if I don't eat at regular (short) intervals. I eat at 5 AM, 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 1 PM, 3:30 PM, and 6:00 PM. Total calories for the day are based on the exercise I do ( usually 2-3 hours of walking, and 2-3 hours on the exercise bike plus dancing one morning a week). I get up at 4:30 AM and go to bed at 6:30 PM.

Don't ever be sorry for venting, Kim. That's what we're here for. I'm sure you're hurting. Like you said, we were A LOT younger when we had babies and were getting up all night. And your mom is in a very vulnerable spot for a very "fiesty" person, so this is not fun for her either. I'm sure she's lashing out even more than usual. May not even realize it.
Rita, that just pains me to think of all the girls who were told the same thing as you when we were young! SO glad you did it by yourself. What a wonderful accomplishment.
Jeb looks kinda like a two-year-old toddler, Tracey! LOL... sort of adorable in a mischievious kind of way.
A flamingo pool float, Margaret?!? Oh yeah! That says it all. GEEZ, we are DONE with winter here. Did you lose power or trees or branches? Neighbor did, but they didn't hit our garage, thankfully. Hopefully, he'll notice them before we have to tell him as they're out in his backyard and he doesn't spend much time back there. But they're SPREAD across 1/4 of ours. Oh yeah, they were HUGE!!! And now most of that snow is off the trees. Poof!
2. Spend as much time as possible outdoors today... today was supposed to be beautiful for outdoors, not turing out that way, maybe later though, CAN'T WAIT FOR "real" SPRING in MN.

Did Denise Austin’s Cardio Workout and then the Body & Soul Total Body Workout DVDs. Took a walk around the block and then to WalMart for a few things especially Vince’s bananas. Sometimes my pedometer doesn’t count the steps. Like it says I only took 770 steps. There is NO WAY. Around the block is easily 4,000. Oh well…. I know that I’m going to do a lot of walking since we need to cut the grass. Senior bowling tomorrow
katla – I’m so happy for you that you can do the yoga!!! That makes you feel better, too, doesn’t it?
Tracey – I talked to Vince last night and told him that I was looking forward to going to Bristol. I told him the amount I showed in my paperwork and he said that it sounded right that the reason he didn’t get the tickets for Bristol is because he was concerned about the money. I know that the excavating will be around $1, 700 more so that’ll leave me a balance of about $5,000. The tickets and a hotel should come to around $2,000 (and that’s being generous) so he agrees that we probably will be able to do it. He’s just concerned about any unforseen expenses. Love the mugs
Finished the xstitch for Jess and texted a pic to a friend at the condo. She’ll show M. See, I showed M the one I’d done and made a huge error that I couldn’t fix so I had to start from scratch. L can show her the finished product. I still need to iron it and frame it.
Lanette – I usually eat 2-3 meals/day. Sometimes I skip lunch and just snack. I’m really trying not having anything to eat after dinner. Most days I do succeed. Last night I didn’t really but had only popcorn. Vince likes to have a big dinner. As it is, I many times cook two separate meals, one that he’ll eat and one for me. I’d like to have a lighter dinner, honestly, but I’m really not crazy about cooking 3 separate meals
Off to cut the grass (oh, heart be still)

Phew! I'm back home and knackered! A LOT of walking. But we cheered M on four times, and his friend, who had to drop back a bit. Plus we shouted for lots of other people.
This is at the bottom of our road, a short while before M passed us the first time.
This is M just before the finish.
And this is DH in the cap and M having a buddy moment on the beach.
All good. M's wife had booked pizza in the Lanes, but there was no way I could walk there - 35 mins in the opposite direction to our house. I waved them all off and came home alone. They were very late for the booking and no taxis because all the roads sre closed for the marathon. I will find myself a bit of falafel and hummus in a minute.
DSIL and K have to come back to get the car. I hope they will Uber it or get the bus.
It was very difficult trying to find them after the race. Thank goodness for mobile phones. The were on the beach with the kids.
So, I am happy after all that excitement. Relaxing now in perfect peace. I walked about 4 miles and everything aches!
I hope DH is OK. He wasn't keen on the walk to the restaurant , and nor was M!!!!!! But at least he is seeing his family.
Lisa - I consider myself supremely antisocial! I can only cope with people in small doses. Then I'm 'outa there'!

Mary - I think it was you who asked about ACV (apple cider vinegar). I just ran across a video by Jason Fung where he explains how drinking or eating something acidic helps with weight loss when eating a starchy carb like white rice or bread. I always like reading some of the science behind what works.

Heather, happy to read that the marathon went well. I'm a bit antisocial too. I like people but in small doses. Just as a side note, my mother was born in England (Kent area). Served in the British forces as a spotter on the guns. Met my father who was a Canadian serving in the army (WW2). Got married after the war and immigrated to Canada.
I'm a 3 meal person and have always been. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with one small snack in the evening.
Joy4 -
Lanette, as to my meals,
On a normal day I eat breakfast at 8am, snack at 9:30, lunch at 11 am and dinner at 2 pm. Or you could say I skip dinner. Calories are pretty evenly spread, if you count morning snack with breakfast.
I have a routine with my dog when we get up. I eat breakfast almost before I'm awake. The routine is so habitual that I don't know what would happen if I skipped breakfast.
Annie in Delaware2 -
I am extremely non social. I don't like having people at the house except my friend who walks with Bessie and me most mornings and comes to dance every Friday and once a month to cut Jake's hair. The pandemic made it easy for me to stay home and not invite other people to our house. My friend who walks with me on Sundays meets me in the driveway.

Annie: My husband loved opera. I enjoyed it for about 2 hours and then it got long for my attention span. Always best to know the plot ahead of time, I feel. Then if gets muddled you know what is happening.
I am a 3 meal a day, 2 snacks a day person. I try to stay at 1200 calories but have not lost weight. I feel I need to be more active, but sometimes my energy level or the tasks of the day interfere with this! I am about to do a 2 mile step video at 5 pm at night...a time when I usually sluggish. We'll see how this goes!
I did a spiritual writing group by zoom this morning and have texted a couple of friends, but have been alone all day. The day does get long. I did live alone for five years in my 20's. I suppose I will get use to it again. There are certainly plenty of tasks to do... a lot of sorting that needs to be done!!!

Lanette - I always eat breakfast usually later in the morning after I have been out to feed critters. I mostly do a light lunch about 1:30 or 2 and then my largest meal is in the evening about 6 after my DD gets home from work. We eat together then and I do not eat after dinner before going to bed. This works for me to lose about 1/2 pound per week if I watch my portions. I get into trouble when I start snacking in between meals especially in the afternoons.
Relaxing day today, went to church then home. It snowed this morning but is sunny just now. Have been doing some reading. Will get litter boxes cleaned and goat shed cleaned out and get my indoor plants watered. Steak and roasted baby golds for dinner with green beans.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA3 -
Lanette-I'm breakfast, lunch, dinner and some days small snack mid morning and afternoon (afternoon is helpful if I want to walk before dinner-get jittery without it). My day time snacks are something like a mandarin orange or apple or a 70 calorie yogurt cup. I also like skinny rice bars. I do like a single serve bag of popcorn while watching tv in the evening and save 100 calories for that.
Rosemarie-I think you will get used to it. The way I knew I was really used to it was when I noticed, at some point, that if people came over to my house for more than 2 hours I would find myself thinking it was time for them to go! Of course, I am still working so there is socialization there, but most of the day I am in my office by myself (or I wouldn't get any work done!).

Hello ladies!💖🤗
I have written my long letter to youngest son, and another letter to myself as homework from therapy counselor. My feelings afterwards? I did feel lighter, said all the things I wanted to say.
Still feel empty.
My heart still hurts, aches. That might never go away. As normally, grief doesn't, you just cope better. Distraction is my best tool.
Middle son asked what my plans were for the latter part of the summer. I guess the other grandmother will come visit, help them prep for the baby the end of August and stay most of September, (the baby due around the 12th). Son starts school August 30th after having the summer off college courses. So I will travel either end of September to help them. I guess their babysitter is moving away, so they don't have that option. I asked son how long his wife has off for paternal leave. I guess its until January. What I didn't ask son but I ask all of you is why can't SHE watch Athena AND baby while he goes to class, and they both interview new babysitters. I mean I had to do that. Heck, I watched a baby plus a 4 yr old and a 9 year old. Walking them to school etc. I don't quite understand them. I don't think I could ask them directly. It just seems rude. In all the traveling I do want to see my eldest sister either before or after my time with sons family. Maybe afterwards. Now that I know that a train stop is in Albany Oregon, not far from where my sister is in Shedd Oregon, I can do a direct train from Seattle to Shedd and she can either pick me up or drop me off at my sons place. At one pint the other Grandma (she's called Gigi) and I were thinking of both being there, but to me that would be so hectic for everyone. It would be a crowded house with babies, dogs and an over stimulated toddler.😳. I think Athena would wig out, so we'll take turns with our visits and they'll have help while they try to learn to juggle school, Athena, baby, and getting a new babysitter.
There are times when I think moving to Vancouver Wa, might be a good idea. They could drop Athena and baby off whenever. Husband still wants to get a huge house and all live together.

Lanette I think you already know that I do intermittent fasting. My window is generally five hours 19:5. I also generally eat one big meal with snacks following in the evening. I love to sit and watch some TV and generally have dinner and a movie! You have to know what works for you. This works for me. This is a lifestyle that I cannot live with. I am never hungry in the morning. I don’t care if I die a couple of years early!! Generally the last years aren’t usually as healthy anyhow! This is not written in stone. This is my lifestyle, and I like special occasions and don’t deny myself. I follow the same people that you have been talking about and that’s where I have learned a lot of information about fasting and apple cider vinegar. Good luck to you!
Also, anybody that is interested in getting rid of the creepy skin on your arms and legs the bone broth is doing wonders!!

Rebecca: Your DH wants a huge house and all live together. I don't know .....maybe some land and a separate residence on the land. Or maybe when you are older living with your son. But while everyone is active and healthy, it seems to me it would be chaotic. But thats just my opinion.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia
