I remember the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 on 2 June 1953. I was 7 years old.
We were squeezed into the parlour of the only neighbour in my Nana’s street who had a huge cabinet TV with a tiny screen. As one of the younger girls, I was right in front of the screen.
It was much more impressive when I saw it in colour at the Saturday matinee at our local cinema a week or so later.
The coverage has already started on TV. I am watching the style of the guests arriving at the Abbey.

I quite enjoyed the ceremony ... we watched the whole thing and there were no commercial breaks.
They're doing the post ceremony part now.

Covered in gold leaf and apparently quite heavy. It was, I believe, built in the 1800s.

But according to this article, stress can raise a persons cholesterol level and other articles indicate that stress can raise a person's blood pressure too. I didn't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol before my husband's accident. But I've had it ever since.

Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
Barbie, I just love that you're a lot like me in wearing almost the same thing daily. I too have multiple pairs of black denim jeans that I wear with different LLR tops. That's my only difference. I bought two different styles several years ago, that I loved, and that's what I change daily. I have enough to go through three weeks without repeating. LOL. Cold and drizzly here today too! YUCK!
Kim, what about a Swiffer duster? It doesn't have to be perfect, just have her dust around your table-top items. Maybe a rag and some cleaner for the sink and counter in the bathroom. Like Karen said, I'd love to have your mom for a couple hours to sort through a boatload of my old scrapbooking stuff or all the "crap" in the various rooms in my house. Sorry we're so far away.
6. Look for people doing good and reasons to be cheerful... working in a school building, this is something we always have to be mindful of!

The talk of the gold coronation coach reminded me of my Air Force postings. My first tour of duty was to the UK, in Suffolk, for a three-year tour. Charles and Diana married while we were there. They then assigned my husband (with me tagging along as a dependent) for another three-year assignment near Newbury about six years later.
I was a bit of an Anglophile anyway, so it was a wonderful time, and I came away from it with that peculiarly American awe of age. Without arguing too much about what constitutes American history, effectively we have just 250 to 300 years--so to walk in a building that was built with human hands and was literally 2,000 years old, it was just awe-inspiring.
Still is, really.

We have watched none of the coronation and will see bits of it on tonight's news.
We spent the afternoon, because it was raining, doing some painting of each other to mark our anniversary! I found a technique on Instagram, using cellophane, so I had a go at that. Quite pleased with the way it came out!
The first is a photo I took of DH today, and the second is the cellophane picture.
DH took this pic of me today.
He tried to do a conventional drawing, but it's really difficult!
Anyway, we had great fun.

Karen - you can have my mom for as long as you want! All who suggested the swiffer thanks! I had not thought of that.
As for crafts, she believes (at 94 years old) that crafts are only for after you have worked at least 6 hours, because I don't have enough work she is not "allowed" to do recreation aka crafts.
She has the weirdest rules for herself and all of us - a very judgmental person- I am understanding why I have never "measured up" I am willing to take a play day, or leave something for tomorrow. Because I live in a small place and am by nature tidy and organized I don't have much for her to sort.
But I do have a few winter wool socks that need to be darned, I'll see if she wants to do that. I wish I had brought her old singer sewing machine she might be able to do some sewing for me, but my all electronic machine is too much for her.

Morning ladies, another rough night sleeping for me..
Woke up at 5 to watch the Corination but was to tired,fell back asleep and woke up around 7:15 to see them walking out of Westminster Abbey.
High supposed to be 74 today ,and look who is enjoying the outdoors2 -

Didn't watch any of coronation because I was out running around doing shopping, etc. Plus-I am not a big Charles fan. I think I would have more interest if William was in. Of course, I was not consulted!
Lisa-I totally understand the history thing-we just do not have that in this country. I went to Greece many years ago and was in awe standing at the Acropolis and thinking that Socrates and Plato and Aristotle had walked there.
Good luck to all who are trying different coping skills. All I know is different things work for me at different times. Now I am focusing on meditation. I am also checking out healing crystals. Don't know exactly what I think about it yet, but I figure if it helps me feel better there is no real harm.
Need to get some things done before going to YS and DIL.

Hello again...
Regarding my own curiosity about folks' sartorial choices, I realized I didn't mention that the tops I buy are, when I can get them, jewel colors. I love saturated color, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to find t-shirts in jewel colors. I also tend toward the darker colors like navy, etc., in winter, and bright colors for spring and summer.
Heather - Love your home gallery, and as always, marvel at what you're accomplishing along with Johnnie and the grands. I would have loved to have a grandmother like you!
Corey's off to do the oil change and grocery shopping... and I'm hoping to get the pain in enough control that I can get in the shower and get scrubbed before he comes back. It's beginning to work, but will be a bit yet.
Am hearing biking groups go by on the main highway that's not too far from the house. We seldom hear that traffic, but the Harley-Davidson bikes are LOUD. There has to have been a dozen groups go by--the main highway is a route to a national park, and it's supposed to get up to nearly 90 this afternoon. The first truly warm day of the spring is bringing everybody out of the woodwork, apparently.

Rita the latest summit on Pet Summit was about our energy and our dogs energy and how they are connected. Your stress meter is off the charts. Much of what you described you have no control over. What I learned in the summit is what you do have control over is what you do to respond to that stress. One suggestion like Barbie suggests is start with a gratitude journal. I know it is hard when you are in the middle of what you are going through. Take moments to just breathe in the beauty of the nature that surrounds you and breath out all those things you cannot control.
In that heat is there a place with AC you can visit. Picture yourself calmly driving in your borrowed vehicle reaching your destination. Parking in a place where you know it will not get scratched. Go to the movie, shopping mall, whatever you will enjoy and give yourself at least a 2-3 hour break.
There is a Bach Flower essence called Rescue Remedy to give to dogs and people during times of trauma. Not all people or dogs react the same to it. It is given to dogs to help them with Fireworks. You have a few of those going on in your life. Rita Hogan was the expert they interviewed about Bach remedies. She said it is not like taking pharma meds. You take as needed. In some cases it can be much more frequent than meds you take. So the Bach Flower essences might help you and your chihuahua. Also with Bach remedies it is good to start taking them before the stressor hits. So if you know something is coming start taking it a day or two before. If you are already in the stress it can take the edge off to help give your nervous system support.
DH sounds like he is having a hard time too so best to help yourself now. He will have to take care of himself.
For your son encourage him to reach out for help. There are other jobs but only one him. He is more important than any job.
Tell him you are working on your own struggles. Tell him about the things you are doing to improve your life and what is working and what is not. Ask he the same. What has worked for him to help his mental health.
I gave you more ideas than you asked for. If any of them help use them if they don't put them in the I tried drawer and move on.
I believe in you Rita you will find what works for you. You are not alone in your struggles. Here for you!
Thank you for the advice. I am doing most of these already except for the Bach Flower which may interfere with the prescriptions I’m already taking. I have a gratitude journal that I write 3 good things that happen each day in, along with anything else I want to journal. It helps to think back on the day and find 3 things, no matter how small that were good.

Took a bit of a nap,and trying to get rid of a bit of a stomach ache.not nauseous. It just hurts..have the windows open and the acreen door open getting fresh air in..but everyone is busy doing there own thing.. so im just here.. will do a load of laundry ,and my pills...

Ah, my minor mystery is solved--the Steel Horse Rally is being held in Fort Smith - the larger city that's about a half hour from us. They shut the main downtown down to car traffic. Vicki - Aren't you the one who rides motorcycles with your husband? I know one of us does. Apparently there were 75,000 bikes last year and more than 100,000 people attended. They do generate a lot of funding for local charities.
Just started the air conditioner, first time this year. It was up to 81 in the house, and I do not like being sweaty unless it's my idea. The other day, my daughter and I discussed the fact that the men in our lives have turned us into spoiled princesses. I've decided I'm really OK with that. Better late than never. She, on the other hand, is just boggled at living with a man who loves her and wants to make sure her life is as good as he can get it. She married two different men before who treated her badly, were zero help at home, and made her doubt herself, and her new husband treats her completely differently. Fun to listen to her bubble over with happiness. I hope it continues for her.
