Today I had some problem solving to do. The heat is turned off and I was too cold. I opened my windows to get fresh air and turned off the air conditioner. I can smell the fresh air and the cut grass. It is very pleasant. I can always turn on the air conditioner if it gets too hot. 😎

This is what I thought too. Speaking from experience. Azalea buds come soon after blooming, so if you prune too late, the buds get cut off. The good news is, if it isn't pruned again this year, it should be loaded with blooms next year.

I had seriously thought about sleeping in my car but that would have really upset mom. Plus, it would have been realllly cold, as it was raining off and on. Plus the fact I need to lay down to sleep on my side so reclining in my car seat would not have been restful at all. If I wanted to lay down in the back seat, I would have had to move stuff of the back seat, including Ezie's car seat at almost midnight in the total dark.

Barbara--Thanks for the glass video. The problem with getting someone for another department to help is we have alarms and answering service that takes trainning. It takes a good 30-45 days to train someone on all the different alarms and calls we take. That is the problem as someone can not do this without trainning and if someone would not page a doctor right they have a fit. Also if a code comes in they need the help paged out without delay. It's just a mess.
Tracey--I do believe you are dong the right thing, getting the doctor note.
Thank you for the positive comments on my son and grandson. It was a nice evening.

Vicki - Great photo of your son and grandson. One proud granny!
I have a few pics from last night's book launch and the fruit of our efforts with the girls!
My friend G called in for a cup of tea this afternoon, on her way to a lecture at the university. Nice to see her.
We toddled out for fish and chips and then went to French Circle. It was about the Gorges du Tarn, in the South of France, where I holidayed 50 years ago! Loads of memories came flooding back of places we visited. We were camping, and I mainly remember a huge thunderstorm, with the thunder echoing down the gorge.
My stamina is very low at the moment. I tire very easily.
Our excursions leaflet arrived yesterday, so we spent the morning planning which trips to take. I will book them first thing tomorrow morning as the popular ones book up quickly. I hope we are not too late for the glacier trip. It all adds up to quite a lot of money, but it's once in a lifetime.
Now to do my Norwegian . I'm on a 70 day streak!

I am perplexed and unsettled, as the tests showed nothing (literally) except the already-known condition of ulcerative colitis. Now, I wait for a phone call from one doctor and the call from my guardian angel up in Fayetteville. If you want the rant, feel free to pop over to my blog. If you want the link, let me know. I don't necessarily recommend it, it ain't pretty. Right now, neither am I.9

I don't think you would be letting them down.
If I recall, they spent a lot of money to have a baby. I'm sure they have also thought about the expense (and time and effort) of raising a child.
Putting him in childcare for even 2-3 days a week could be beneficial for everyone.

Rebecca: I hope you enjoy your day at the zoo tomorrow!
Heather: You are so lucky to have DH to help you while your fx heals!
Beth: Hope your Mom's visit to the oral surgeon goes well.
Katla: I know you miss Oregon. You have done a fine job over this past year of adapting to living near your daughter.
Good for you! You are setting an example for the rest of us!
Vicki: Congrats on your grandson getting The Distinguished Service Award.
MargaretTurk: Glad you enjoyed the concert!
Terri: Glad your outing was a success. I drove a car with a clutch for years.
Tracey: I am praying the embryos are healthy!
Grandmallie: It must take a lot of energy to keep up with Miles. Is there a Mother's Morning out program run by one of the churches that Miles could attend?
I get really tired and am having to adjust my life style. I haven't gained any weight but really am not losing. I must not be creating a calorie deficit. Today I worked at the Cat rescue and then went to a book group meeting without resting in between. I was tired. Tomorrow I am going by van to Atlanta to have dinner with my DIL since my son is away on business. I do have a second wind now. This isn't good. I need to get to sleep!

Annie – no, the plant didn’t get trimmed. To be honest, I wouldn’t even know HOW to do it.
Kim – the extension office says that it is an azalea (news to me!). But they didn’t say how to encourage the flowers to grow. It’s located in the NNW corner of the house.
Flea – I’ve never pruned that azalea bush and it’s been like that for a few years. Wonder what I can do to encourage flower growth? I did send that question to the extension office. They did send me information about azaleas, but it didn’t address that question
Maybe I’ll go work on the jigsaw puzzle a bit and then hit the sack.
Allie – I agree that Miles needs to be with other children, even if only for a few days/week. And you need a break. He’s getting older and more rambunctious.

Rosemarie— Thank you for your kind words. ❤️
I miss long-time dear friends in Oregon most of all. Thankfully I have made friends here, too.

It's been a little over a week since I fell and hit my head and sacroiliac. Today I feel about 80% back to whole. I've been to the chiropractor 2x, massage therapist 1x, and then to the nail shop where I had a pedicure. Okay, so the latter is really pushing the boundaries of alternative care, but actually I think the leg massage and minerals in foot soak help with pain and stiffness in my hips and lower back. Oh, and there is that amazing massage chair where I sat while scraped and smoothed the winter off my feet. Heaven! I will see chiropractor one more time this week.
Sorry can't write anymore. Sleep calling. Y'all stay well.

Rori I know I’ve already mentioned Bone Broth but I really think it helps with inflammation. It may reduce your healing time. It would probably help Heather as well.If you want more information let me know.

Barbara - our home would love to have a line dancing demonstration. Anything with music really brightens their days.
Terri - I haven’t driven a car with a clutch in years. I miss them, probably good to have automatic as I age though.
Ginny - I am hoping that some peaceful walks will help my head. The stress has been bad for months now.
Machka - I am hoping calling the labor board does some good. I don’t think it will though. The last time someone called on her the board didn’t take it seriously.
I have a very difficult time separating the years of how people are lazy and abusing the system if they go on stress leave and understanding that it is truly necessary.
Karen - thank you so much. I did all I could to have things organized for anyone needing to take over my duties. I have my doctors note now, I just need to send it in.
Allie - I agree with Carol, I’m sure caring for Miles is not helping your health at all. I hope you are able to find some relief soon.
Vicki - your grandson looks so young! Congratulations! I would be proud too.
Thank you, I think it’s needed as well.
Michele - enjoy the pool! I love your snail
Lisa - how frustrating to have medical issues that can’t be identified. My cousin, before being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, suffered for two years trying to get answers. You have been suffering for a long time.
Heather - what great pictures of your son and his family.
Rosemarie - you are keeping your days full, no wonder you are tired.
Rori - I’m happy to read you are feeling 80% I love a pedicure.
I had my doctors appointment today and I am officially on sick leave for 6 weeks. She actually is concerned about my stress level and wants me to really rest for a couple of weeks and not to worry about a job immediately. She will see me in 4 weeks and will probably extend it.
I sent the letter off at 830 this evening and I’m shutting my phone off over night.
I am still having palpitations and a terrible feeling of dread. It will probably take some time to get over it.

Good morning, my dears. I may not go to flower arranging this afternoon. My knee and thigh were painful yesterday. And are not much better this morning. I think it was from the driving.
Tracey: No job is worth the anxiety you are experiencing. Your bosses should not be allowing this woman to get away with her hateful ways.
Michele: It’s an azalea. There are lots of buds stil to come.
Vicki: Two great looking guys. You are right to feel proud of them.
Allie: I agree with the others about Miles. He is such an active wee lad. It won’t help them if you collapse from fatigue.
We had torrential rain yesterday, and showers are forecast for today. Planning to work on my crochet.
Time to get up and move.
Hugs and prayers for those who need them.

I'm giving myself a physical rest day today. I just did some recumbent cycling as that's just like sitting in an armchair. No floor exercises. I will stroll around to the postbox with my brother's birthday card after lunch. My flower cards I had printed. Yesterday, on the way to French Circle, I bought the frame I'm going to put his picture in. It's a square shape. This afternoon I might play with a few sketches of the huts for proportion. I'm thinking of doing the little figures of him and his wife separately and collaging them on. That way I can make lots of mistakes and not worry about mucking it up. I quite like that effect.
This morning I was awake early, so I did the bookings for the excursions in Norway. 36 hours after they dropped through our letterbox, the two I was most keen on were booked up. I booked alternatives, but they may make more places available and there is a window of cancellation up to 48 hours before the excursion. At least DH got his two hikes! These old people are quick off the mark!
Some of the excursions are free, but the others add up! I'm very much hoping that they put on another troll tractor across the glacier!
I'm going to email Rori as she will be leaving for her trip soon, and read a bit of DDIL's book. Otherwise, peace, I hope.

Moving to Australia helped me feel comfortable with the idea of taking time off. There's not the 'work till you drop' attitude here. People are encouraged to take all kinds of leave ... annual leave, sick leave (including stress leave), carer's leave, personal development and study leave, long service leave, etc. etc.
I am glad that you are getting a decent chunk of leave now. Are you able to go somewhere for that first week or two ... like a shoulder season trip to the mountains or something?
At the very least make sure you enjoy the great outdoors ... go for walks in the spring sunshine.
I would recommend contacting your EAP organisation as well and seeing if you can set up an appointment with a psychologist or similar as well.

Tracey- good for you.. I was darn close to where you were..and Im hoping you can finally get some peace..yes something relaxing is in order..
Now my thighs are hurting all the time and its probably because im picking up a sack of potatoes every day...
I love this little boy dearly but its getting harder and harder to deal with.7 -
Tracey, dear heart - I am so very pleased that you are on leave for six weeks and (hopefully) even more. A doctor who can actually hear you and understands is rare, and I'm so pleased that you have them on your side. I'm hoping you can feel the gentle hugs from here. Just breathe some free air, rest, spend time with your grands, and take care of you. Remember to answer phone calls only from family and friends!
Rosemarie - If you didn't take measurements when you began your exercise routines, it might help to take them now to give yourself a different way to measure your losses. Your body shifts and adjusts when your calories drop and your activity goes up. Your measurements may well show changes before the scale does. Perseverance is the key. Ignore the scale for a bit and give things time... hard to do, but rewarding in the end.
Terri - Rainy weather affects my joints even more than the cold, and probably isn't helping your knee and thigh. Take care of you...
Heather - Glad to see you taking a physical rest day too, my friend. The family looks absolutely wonderful, and well done for Jessamy! Glad she gave you your due... you and Johnny have really been there for her as she pushed the book over the finish line.
Rori - Glad you're healing! 80% of you is better than most... Hope the trip is wonderful...
Allie - I hope you can help Tracy understand that you need to be grandma instead of daycare, but I know it's a hard conversation to have...
I fell into a trap yesterday that I am well aware of--letting my expectations outrun reality, and then feeling broken when my expectations were violated. This applies to the medical establishment, as well as people, and I have been reminded of it over and over again in these last years. I went into the CT scan expecting verification of something that could well be the genesis for most of my issues, and didn't get that validation. I know better. Doesn't mean it didn't hit me hard, but it does mean that like a Weeble, I've wobbled back upright. Because nothing's changed now doesn't mean nothing will.
And in one of my usual side trips, from 1970, here are the Weebles I remember... Never actually got one, but was utterly fascinated by the idea of them. Holy guacamole, that was 53 years ago. Now I really do feel old, but it might bring a smile:
Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more...
Love y'all,
Lisa

A thought from Dr Rangan Chatterjee. I am finding that all the mini decisions that I have to make every second of the day, instead of living naturally, is extremely tiring. Plus the nag of pain, like a headache. But I really can't do anything without having to think about it. And having to give it several tries.
This too shall pass.
I also found this one that I try to live by.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather, I have long acknowledged the agony of decision fatigue and have simplified my life as much as possible. I don't have the challenges of job, travel, and family that many people have but even when my life was more complex, I tried to eliminate making choices as much as possible.
Allie, Your daughter and SIL have dropped a lot of their parenting responsibilities on you. Only you can save yourself. They will take advantage of you as long as you let them. They went through great expense and emotional pain to have a child, they should be caring for him.
Lisa, Many hugs to you as you walk this frustrating path.
Tracey, Don't feel dread, feel delight that you sent off that letter and have your time off. Take life one day at a time.
Barbie in NW WA6 -
For bruises and falls I am a fan of Arnica as long as you are not on a blood thinner. I used it after my fall and gave it to DrewB after she hurt her leg falling off a curb wrong.
(((Tracey)))
Over did yesterday because we had a nice day. I did stop and stretched more and drank more water. Also took Bach flower remedy before bed. Only one minor cramp during the night. I need to remember to pace myself and keep saying to myself it will get done. Part of putting in extra it was not buggy. The mosquitoes will be here within the next week!
When I make choices in a field of many I try to eliminate as many of the choices as I can to get it down to three. I make my choice from those and try to make peace with the opportunity cost. The opportunity cost is the choice you gave up in making the choice you did. I learned that in the economic workshop for teaching economics for children. Some decisions are easier to process than others. For the most part I am usually happy with the decisions I make today because I have a firmer grasp of what I am looking for before making a choice.
Allie I can hear how much you enjoy taking care of Miles. I agree with others that to keep that enjoyment it is better to cut back to two to three days a week. If you end up sick or worse because of how much it takes to watch him now then the choice will be taken from you. You still will be saving your daughter money and having Miles will continue to be a joy. Miles is your daughter's responsibility. Your job is to be the grandma.3
