That's one of the reasons why some of us are encouraging you to be still for a couple days. Relax. Put your feet up. Rest. Get more sleep. Be comfortable.
Give your body the best conditions in which to recover for a day or two.

Boy, is my age showing! I am vaccuming and mopping the hardwood floors in the den and after moving the furniture I am exhausted! Gone are the days when I could clean my house from top to bottom on a Saturday!

1. Do something kind for someone you really care about. I need to think about this and plot! I gave my son a gift card to Netflix. He needed something to make him smile.
2. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. I will try. Did this.

5. Let someone know how much they mean to you and why. It’s my brother’s 59’th birthday today. Going to call him. We never really call each other.

Carol: Caring for my husband, I wasn't sure if it was the stress or long hours of caregiving that was causing fatigue or the natural aging process over the years I cared for him. Now I must admit some of it was the natural aging process. Volunteering at the animal rescue to clean The Cat House has been an eye opener. I must get down on the floor and up about 7 to 10 times to clean the litter pans. Then I sweep and mop. It is about 2 hours of cleaning. I am quite tired afterwards. Some of this might be my weight. At home I take frequent breaks, so I don't notice the cleaning as much.
It is an adjustment. I tend to want to be on the go and must learn to slow down a little bit.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia8 -
11. Look around for things that give you a sense of awe and wonder. Sunlight, wind in the trees, brilliant ruby throated humming bird, blue sea and sky all right outside my window. Thanks be.
Routine: when I let it get disrupted, things fall off. Overslept a good deep dreamless sleep. Was so focused on prepping for my second to last fire district meeting, forgot to weigh in. Chose to skip PT for the second time this week. Dusting self off and getting back on the PT wagon!
Welcome @lightstrongma !
Ginny thought gout presented as pain in one swollen toe? He just reports “foot pain” and has been unwilling or unable to provide details. MD seems to think its pre-diabetic related neuropathy and prescribed gabapentin at one time. Joe’s off the gabapentin (as well as the brandy) and reports a change to an occasional stab instead of all day pain. I’m grateful he’s shared even that much, had no idea he was in pain all day every day. :{
Unfamiliar with the term state pharmacy. Affiliated with the state government? OR just a regional/state level company? Or? Thank you so much for your interest and information! Good luck with those work issues this week.
Allie so sorry to hear you’re in pain. Not being able to sleep makes pain that much worse. ((gentle hugs))
Katla hooray for new friends! (and the library ;> )
Carol yours to Allie, yes this.
Vicki wow, you have much to be proud of!
Michele, your pool looks so very very inviting! Sorry to hear Vince is skimping on the at home PT. Hope he catches heck from the therapist  I’m not an expert but IF it is an azalea, it might benefit from more shade and more acidic soil Could it be anything else?
Mary hope you can enjoy your bike ride, despite the wind. Understand about “dry heat”, what would kill me in St. Louis was almost comfortable in Boise.
Vicki wish our local town’s 911 dispatch operators got that much training. Know it’s a struggle to extract accurate information from panicked callers. Problem is there are four methods of alerting our fire volunteers: siren, pagers, text and Active 911. Mostly they manage to trigger the siren and send out a page. Our mountains make pager reception poor to none. Text goes only to a select few officers. All volunteers can get Active 911 alerts, when they are sent. Unfortunately, when the dispatchers are too stressed to trigger text and Active 911, our volunteers have to call in to get the info, making more calls to answer and more stress. It seems to me that there should be a way to semi-automate the process, that the operator could somehow voice record the information and simultaneously transmit the recording to pagers, text/voicemail and Active 911, but then it’s probably not easy to do or they would have done it already. :{
Heather the family pic. The grands look so sophisticated! Sorry you didn’t get the excursions you wanted. Fingers X’d for the additional troll tractor.
Pip good talkin’! Now talk me into getting up off my butt and doing my PT
Lisa Pfaugh. Praying your guardian angel comes through. That romper room viedow was in color?!? When I was watching Miss Nancy, the show was in black and white. Now who’s feeling old :}
Rosemarie you may need more time to sleep and recover for the years of caregiving. After Papa passed, Mama slept most of an entire summer.
Rori sounds like appropriate alternative rX to me, especially the chair
Tracey there will always be those who take advantage and abuse systems that are crucial to the well being of others. You are NOT like that. So grateful your doctor is concerned and taking appropriate action. Believe the palpitations and dread will fade as you walk, craft and spend time with Rodger and the grands. (((hugs held extra long))).
Terri yours to Allie too. Truth this. Sorry to hear your outing caused you leg pain. Hope it eases soon and doesn’t impact your recovery.
Machka hearing about the sensible attitude in Oz about leave. So alien to me who worked in the opposite environment. The Japanese I worked with had a saying for those who did drop (dead) from overwork, they called it “Dr. Stop.”
Margaret “…your job is to be the grandma” Love this.
Beth yours to Tracey, well said.
Whoops, is that pip’s boot I hear behind me? On my way!05/10: Move: 0 sets PT, line dance class. steps:5836:p
Fuel: plants running count for week so far:14+4 almonds, apple, avocado, beets, black bean/lime soup, celery, maple syrup, oats, peanut brittle, pecans, radishes, raisins, romaine, scallions, soy breakfast patties, tangerines, walnuts, wheat-cookies/cake. CI=1222 CO=399
Live: Joe, readings, BP, board meeting prep and meeting, AF. Wt: oops!
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Don't let her guilt you into doing what you have discovered you can't. You are very soft hearted and want to help everyone you can. You can't continue to do that at the detriment to your own health. Well, I guess you can, but you shouldn't.
You have mentioned before that she has to work to pay for groceries. If this is truly the case, then she can change her hours to work evenings and Kyle can take care of the baby. That way, there is no daycare costs involved. Does Kyle want to take care of the baby, of course not. However, if they need her salary to eat, then they will need to do what they have to. If he is dead set against caring for the baby, then he can get a second job in the evenings or weekends to replace the money she will give up by quitting to take care of the baby.
It is not your job to take care of your grandson so your daughter can work. They chose to have another child. They need to figure out how to raise both him and Carmen.
Just my two cents.....

Worked today. Soup kitchen tomorrow. I swear, this is getting ridiculous. They don’t have any lettuce at all. A manager told me that she did one full case yesterday and I did one full case today. I do want to talk to Vince since he was a manager as to how I should word this. It really isn’t worth my while to go in for 2-1/2 hrs. This is the second time they don’t have any lettuce. One time they didn’t have enough tomatoes, twice they didn’t have enough plastic wrap, one time we just barely had enough onions. I want to say “you’re out of lettuce, since my job includes the lettuce and I can’t do my job, I won’t come in tomorrow.” But I want to make it sound “professional” But I don’t feel I should say that it isn’t worth my while. My objective is to get this manager to order enough prep. I’m sure she’s thinking “the less I order, I’ve reduced my costs” But at what cost? They’ll probably have Jerry do some things like the tomatoes. Will she think “I may lose her”. I like this job, not a lot of pressure, only a few hours, close to home, flexibility. If she’s looking to cut her “labor”, that I can live with. But at least be honest
Rori – glad to hear that you’re better, if not 100%. To me, a pedicure is absolutely alternative care. Good for the mental health which also affects your body. That makes sense, doesn’t it????
Tracey - Good for you sending that letter
Terri – those buds, when are they going to come? It’s been a few years now, and they haven’t come.
Lightstrongma – welcome!
Barbara – that azalea is on the side of the house, it gets maybe 7 hours of sunlight, the rest is shade. Azalea’s aren’t shade loving plants. The extension office did say that perhaps the deer “pruned” them, but we haven’t had a lot of deer this year. Usually, I find where they’re digging for food, etc., but I haven’t found that this year. They also suggested that I cover it when it’s very cold out. Somehow, I don’t think you need to cover azaleas. At least I hope not. Glad you liked the pool. Now you can see where I put the ceramics
Off to the pool….

It’s Rosalie’s 4th birthday today so we made cupcakes!

Michelle, That is a super shapely azalea for not being pruned. Ours are a mess, and we do prune them. Ours don't grow in the shape yours is in. Maybe it's a different variety? We are in very different zones. And good thought about the deer. We have deer eat the apples off our dwarf apple tree. It's cute and annoying at the same time.
Ugh. My android did an update today. I hate it. Besides the change in the look of everything, it no longer accepts my work wifi as safe. Such an annoyance.
Alli, do you think not watching the baby will give you more energy, or is your energy just perhaps low in general, regardless of your activity level. In my cancer group, some women complain about how bad the medication makes them feel, so much that they get off of the meds for quality of life issues, only to discover that it wasn't the meds making them feel horrible, but the cancer. In other words, their side effects didn't go away after going off the meds. Just another perspective.
Of course, if you're just tired of it, that's completely legitimate. You don't have to provide a reason or excuse. I guess I thought it was going to be a temporary thing anyway.
Take care everyone.

Evie ~ Happy 4th birthday to Rosalie!
Rosemarie ~ I did finally finish the floor job I started to do and agree with you that taking short breaks helps to get it done. I can only imagine how stooping to clean the litter boxes must tire you. It's not a fun job to do and I am sure your volunteer work there is highly appreciated.
Michele ~ My son is a restaurant manager at Cava's and has often had to leave the store to go get items they have run out of. Many times it is because the inventory has been ordered but did not arrive on time. If that's not the case at our BK, maybe the managers there are not up to the job.

I dont know..like I said im tired all the timr. Ive been taking the same meds since the heart surgeries
I know I dont get much exercise, but I dont think thats it..there is something underlying, can't pinpoint it..
My parents helped when they could, but I never expected them to babysit 30 hrs a week for me.
Im just keeping quiet and see what they come up with..
But sheesh im almost 63 had 2 heart surgeries and am on a transplant list..would you want someone like that watching your little one lol3 -
Tracey--My DGS is 27. They all are growing up so fast. Glad you got the note from the doctor. I sure pray you get the rest you need. Have you heard anymore about the airport job?
Heather--Great pictures of the family and sounds like they party went well.
Rori--Sounds like you are doing all you need to get better and ready for your trip.
Allie--You have more then done your share helping with Miles. Sounds like it is coming to the point where it is doing you more harm than good and you need to take care of yourself.
Lisa--HUGS
Well I put in a request to administration to hire at least one person, will see what they say and how that will go.

Good afternoon ladies!
The April/May 2023 issue of AARP magazine had an interesting article entitled "The Weight Issue".
What jumped out at me: "In a 2022 study, researchers found that the best BMI for health in those over 65 is 31 to32 for women and 27 to 28 for men - higher than what's recommended for people under 65." It goes on to explain the "obesity paradox" where folks with higher BMI's in their 60's, 70's and above even had a lower dementia risk than people with normal weight or underweight. Further discussion, however, whether lower weight is contributing to the dementia or the dementia is contributing to the lower weight.
Anyhow, this reminded me of the SmartBMICalculator and my weight, which has crept into the "overweight" category by the standard BMI, but is considered normal and very healthy on the Smart calculator. Of course, if a person is obese and has diabetes, sleep apnea and other conditions caused by obesity, that's a different story.
RVRita - did you get your A/C fixed? We have a heatwave starting on Saturday here and I'm hoping all is well with my heat pump. I'm invited to an outdoor BBQ on Saturday afternoon - which I might skip.
Tracey - so glad you are getting time off.
Allie - there are lots of excellent suggestions and wise advice coming your way regarding your health and Mile's babysitting and your energy level & aches and pains. Have you mentioned this to any of your doctors? Seems like if one of them advises you to cut out or cut back, Tracy and Kyle would have no other alternative but to find a solution. You are right, it's about your health.
Terri - I think I would get shin splints if I had to drive a clutch car, lol. Used to love it when I was younger.
Rosemarie - Carol - Terri - Heather - I too have been flagging in energy, seems I get pooped after not doing much. Aggravating to have to make myself rest and prop my feet up for a little bit. But really, why be in a hurry?
Seems like I had more energy when DH was alive, his last few years. Perhaps I was pushing myself all the time, and worrying sent my adrenaline to new levels.
Got the back mowed yesterday, and just finished a little weed eating. Going to mow the front this afternoon then I think will finish weedeating later in the day or tomorrow morning. Then I'm done for a while.
Didn't get much garden in yet, but that's fine. With temps in the 90's it's too hard to keep up with watering so will wait a week or so when it cools down.
Roger and his wife went on vacation for who knows how long, lol. And I'm babysitting their greenhouse. Not much in it except for a few begonias and dusty millers. It's a very nice new (2 years old) greenhouse but the fan has already bit the dust and it doesn't have much ventilation. I'll prop the door open in the afternoons and keep everything watered.
Took Rosie to the groomers this morning and discovered the rear and passenger side windows don't work. Driver's side goes up and down just fine. I've seen some "reset" tricks on Youtube I'll try. It might just be a fuse, will have my oil change guy take a look at it if I can't fix it, he's pretty clever. I mainly use that car for hauling stuff anyhow so I'm in no big hurry. Very grateful the windows weren't DOWN when they decided not to work. Whew!

(((Allie))) — Have you talked to your doctor about what you can do to take care of yourself, and provide daycare? A telephone conference call with the doctor or his nurse might be helpful. Exhaustion is not good for you. ❤️
Katla1 -
I have found often in our lives that we are trying to treat the symptoms of stress, trauma and exhaustion, without dealing with the root cause. The root cause is our impossible lives, when we ask far too much of ourselves. It's easy for an outsider to see it, but we, in the middle of it, can't see how unhealthy our lives are and how the changes need to be at a much more fundamental level. The elephant in the room is right there in front of us, but we are trying our best to ignore it. I've done it, most of us have done it. We tend to think we must just 'try harder', when we need to radically change the situation we are in. My DDIL 's book about trauma deals a lot with this. We are all really bad at seeing the reality of our lives, and feel powerless to change it, until we hit breaking point, like Tracey and Allie and others. The truth is, that situation was never right for us, and was not serving us in the first place. We are always the last to see it. The breaking point can be our friend and help to steer us in a new direction. Trying harder at something that is not working only leads to breakdown. Embracing what our body is telling us, is the way forward. If we are under stress it is not some fault of ourselves that we need to work on, it's an impossible situation we are in. Blaming ourselves for not coping is a typical response, but we need to see it differently. Would you advise your best friend to do as you are doing?
Don't let it get to the point of complete breakdown or death, before we start paying attention to what our bodies already know.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx10 -

on the window- check and make sure you didn't bump the kid lock on it. Mom did that, but the passenger window was partially down. I had to ride into town at 5AM during the winter, raining, and she took it down to Toyota and found it was just the little button had been bumped.

Tracey: so pleased you got your sick leave. Taking care of you is your job for at least the next 6 weeks
Lisa: My girls loved the Weebles. Also Play Mobile figures and Lego.

Terri - Glad your DH stepped up so you could go to your class. Funny, I have no memory of Legos from my childhood, and they hit the US in 1971. We played with Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys, and my older brothers were forever losing bits of them. Some good memories, even so.
Wise words, too, for all of us taking care of ourselves. I've decided that for my own mental health, I'm going to have to take a step back from the research and let the recent results be dealt with by the experts.
Love y'all,
