Betsy ~ Hooray for your granddaughter!
Heather ~ Your grands must be having a wonderful time in Greece! Thanks for all the cute photos. Also, your art just keeps improving.
Barbara ~ I have a lot of bad dreams! In many I am able to fly...LOL In some I am driving and cannot get my foot on the brake.
Many are set in the house and yard I grew up in but never in this house or our old house. Others are about students being awful in my classroom.

Besides our usual groceries, we picked up a bag of potting soil and a cucumber plant to put in the raised bed. Yesterday I finished pulling all the weeds in the iris garden so now I'm on to spreading bark which is a very meditative practice interspersed with walking to the bark pile to refill the buckets. An hour a day accomplishes a lot. Jake has spread a lot of the bark this year so the yard is likely to be finished much earlier than in years before.

Yesterday I went shopping with my daughter. We had a lovely lunch & bought an inflatable mattress for me. It deflated in the night, but I didn’t notice for several hours & wound up on the floor. DD will be taking it back today & getting another. DS ordered a quality mattress but it won’t be available for a while. I am being a good sport about it all. 😉

(((hugs))) to those who need them.
Pip, she looks amazing! Well done.
So sorry about Jerry, Michele. Wow, he's really lucky to be alive. So glad they found him.
Welcome home, Rori. Your trip looked wonderful.
Oh Ginny, I love your signs from hubby. That's so awesome. Freddy and I believe in all of those signs from heaven too. Good luck on your future search.
YAY Annie!
Heather, what's not to love about your experiment?!? I think it's incredible! You're far too critical of your own work. I love that first piece. It's just my style. I love the geraniums too.
Looks like the family is having a wonderful time. Good for them.
That's fantastic, Betsy. Congrats to her!

1. Do something kind for someone you really care about. I need to think about this and plot! I gave my son a gift card to Netflix. He needed something to make him smile.
2. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. I will try. Did this.
3. Take a step toward an important goal no matter how small. I have to think about this. I did not buy beer today. Working on not enabling my DH.
4. Send a friend a photo of a time you enjoyed together. DONE!
5. Let someone know how much they mean to you and why. It’s my brother’s 59’th birthday today. Going to call him. We never really call each other.
6. Look for people doing good and reasons to be cheerful. Will do! And found them all over all day!
7. Make a list of what matters most to you and why. Did this in my journal.
8. Set yourself a kindness mission and help others today. Do this every day
9. What values are important to you? Find ways to use them today. Will try.
10. Be grateful for the little things, even in difficult times. It is hard right now but trying.
11. Look around for things that give you a sense of awe and wonder. There is plenty here at the park. Wondering how a cave could turn into a lake.
12. Listen to a favorite pieces of music and remember what it means to you. I will try to remember to do this. Did not have time.
13. Find out about the values or traditions of another country. Sounds like fun! I looked up Canada and specialty Quebec where my family originated.
14. Get outside and notice the beauty in nature. I love doing this!
15. Do something to contribute to your local community. Helped a homeless man today.
16. Show your gratitude to people who are helping to make things better. Will watch for this. Did this to school group’s surprise visit to the park.
17. Find a way to make what you do today meaningful. I try every day by helping people find campsites in emergencies.
18. Send a hand written note to someone you care about. To be completed. Did not finish.
19. Reflect on what makes you feel valued and purposeful. Did a grateful meditation on the Balance app this morning which helped me do this.
20. Share 3 photos of things you find meaningful or memorable.
21. Look up at the sky and remember we are a part of something bigger. For sure! I walked the dog at 3AM and looked up at the vast night sky. I was able to see the Milky Way and billions of stars. Awesome view.
22. Find a way to help a project or charity you care about. To be reviewed
23. Recall 3 things that you’ve done that you are proud of.
24. Make choices that have a positive impact on others today.
25. Ask someone else what matters most to them and why. Will try to remember. I asked my daughter this.
26. Remember an event in your life that was really meaningful. I have, a bad one, but a good one right behind it!
28. Do something special and revisit in your mind tonight.29. Today do something to car for the natural world.RVRita in NM
30. Share a quote you find inspiring to give others a boost.
31. Find three reasons to be hopeful about the future.

Betsy-that is awesome! And to win it as a freshman!
Allie-I understand people bringing up issue of whether Carmine may be physically abused. It happens in all houses. Often children are hesitant to speak up because they are made to feel they receive abuse because they are bad. Also, verbal abuse sometimes leaves wounds much more devastating than physical, and it isn't visible. The whole family needs counseling.7 -
Good morning ladies!
Tracey - I think Rodger is right on the money regarding the fence slats - they don't seem to cut down the wind or speed it up. And yes, I do think the "V" shape channeling the wind has a lot to do with it. I have extra slats I could insert at various intervals that would probably help with the wind - make more of a barrier which is part of the sales pitch, lol. (It's Bernoulli's Principle not Bernoilli's Principle. Too edit the bad spelling from my post from yesterday.)
Katla - I love those thick air mattresses, very comfortable. Hope the next one doesn't lose air. I think Sleep Number must be a type of air-filled mattress.
Betsey - congrats to your granddaughter on that achievement! Very good for being a freshman
Ginny - what a lovely story about your DH and the bird. I haven't noticed any specific sign other than seeing something nice in the back yard - a tree, a bush, a bird, and immediately getting a vision of him smiling. What a great feeling.
Pip- I too thought you put Chispa in there and it somehow clipped her. I wanted to order one to stick Rosie into! You did a really great job, by the way. Did she behave or was she a struggler?
Weight-watcher stuff (I hope MFP allows this, that's why I'm kind of spelling it differently)-With my recent weight gain, I've been thinking about strategies that worked for me in the past. I was always successful with Weight-watchers (W W) when I attended the meetings and had the weekly weigh-ins. I didn't always stay for the meetings, but having to step on a scale in front of someone, have them record it, and often say "good job, you lost this week" or "not a loss this week but overall you are doing great" was a good motivator for me.
I just checked - they don't call them meetings anymore, they are now "Workshops". The price doesn't seem too bad. I used to be a lifetime member, I need to dig out my card and see if I'm within 2 lbs- if they even honor that anymore. I see there is a "workshop" in the next town over that meets at 9:30 on Saturday mornings.
The main reason I left WW was they switched to supporting everything on a smartphone app, and their PC support was clunky. I came over to MFP and this group - very glad I did.
I watched a good Bob & Brad video (starring Brad & Mike) this morning on balance - ankle strengthening, lifting feet, etc. They suggesting stepping sideways and making sure to lift feet. So I stepped sideways down the hall and back in my house. It's a rambler so the hallway is at least 25 feet. I was able to steady myself touching the wall. After 2 times down and back, my outer thigh/hip muscles were tired. That's telling me I need to work on it.
I recall some of the Leslie Sansone step videos have sideways stepping too. I need to cue up some of hers and give her 1 mile workouts a go again. I can't keep up with them like I used to many years ago, but even walking in place does a lot of good.
Make it a wonderful day

Allie - I think the question also extends to school. Is someone bullying Carmine at school? Or threatening in some way? Or touching them when they don't wish to be touched? I did not tell anyone at school about being abused, even my best friend, and I think if I'd been hurt at school I would not have been able to say so at home. Tracy slapping Carmine IS abuse, by the way, and is unacceptable. I'm sorry to be harsh, I don't want to be, but that needs to stop immediately. As someone else said, the entire family needs counseling, not just Carmine.

I screen shotted this quote from Henry James today. It was from a bigger article about Rachmaninov.
It's how I feel about my writing and sometimes about my painting.
That's life.
All good tonight. Happy. Looking forward to some recorded Miss Marple.
Tomorrow is a Bank Holiday. Will write as usual. The cleaner is still coming.
We will just ignore it.

I have a great husband! He remembers everything. I gushed one time on how smooth and tasty whip cream vodka was. He bought me some for our upcoming trip. We will be leaving for the Grand Canyon on Wednesday night and spend 4 days there and on our way home we will spend 4 days in Vegas at an RV park there. 1 shot is 1.5oz at 100 calories, so if I lighten up y the shot it’s 67cal for 1oz. Just had a shot, it was awesome, this stuff is dangerous.

Update from Destiny's mom- they are looking at putting her on hospice care
Now that we have told Michelle and Travis I can let you guys know. Destiny will not be going home. Right now she has to get A blood transfusion every couple of days and the cancer is taking over.. we are looking into a place called George marks children house. Instead of keeping her in the hospital
We made the choice not to tell her . We don’t want her to give up hope and we want her to be the Destiny we all know and love . And if we tell her she might just withdraw into herself and we do not want that.
So if you guys come to visit try to stay upbeat and mindful of what is said.
She does know she can’t go home until she is stable. And unless God grants us a miracle he will be taking her home to him soon. We don’t know when, it could be days weeks or even months. But she doesn’t have long.
My other two will need all the support they can get so please be in prayer for them as well and if you see them around maybe give them a hug or two.13 -

Pip I also thought that you put Chispa in that canister and she got her haircut that way! You have seen those haircutters that suck your hair up and cut it off all the same length, I thought somebody might have invented something for small dogs!

Pip you did an excellent job on Chispas!
So sorry to hear about Destiny. So sad.
Today I took off from my diet and exercise. I went out to lunch. Tomorrow I will be strict again!

Stats for the day-
Housecleaning etc- 4hrs 9min, vacuum, dust, extra cleaned our shower, laundry fold and put away, washed both living room and entryway rugs, water plants, sweep front entryway and front patio, fill up front fountain w/water, clean and refill fountain in front patio, trim hedges, make more hummingbird food, clean and fill front birdbath, etc = 1163c.
*stopped calorie counter, was really for a longer time and would have been more calories*2 -
Thank you so much for the care and prayers for Destiny and her family.
I was so surprised to read her mom's post this morning.
Everyone is still praying for a miracle(we got one with Nick just weeks ago)
It has been a very hard two years for all of them.
Debbie3 -
Pip- I got a giggle when I saw the pic of chispa's hair in, I am guessing, a hand vac. At first I thought it was a new grooming tool and it was Chispa inside of it. You know, kind of like something you would see on the Jetsons. lol She looks great! Job well done!
Heather- The family looks like they are having a ball! Well done on the climb, Bea!
Ginny and Debbie and Allie- I liked reading of your "visits" from your parent's spirit animals.
Tracey - I have long admired your talents with the Cricut! Happy you have been rewarded for your talent.
NSV- I may have mentioned before, but I had been taking Mucinex nasal spray nightly since summer of 2020. I would stop for a day or two; but begin using it again because I was having a hard time breathing at night. Anyway, I stopped using it a while back. Quite a few nights, I fought every urge to just go into the bathroom and spray a couple shots up my nose. But I muscled through the nights of stuffiness and dry mouth from breathing through my mouth. It has been four weeks since I have used the Mucinex. I finally feel like I don't need it at night anymore. Yea!!!
Oooops! I wrote this at about 8 this morning. Walked away from my computer to do a couple of things, then decided to head outside to get some stuff done. Just came in for a cool down and saw that I forgot to post and sign off! Duh... forgetfully yours, KJ (Kelly)
Well done! I got stuck on a nasal spray back in 2012. It was 4 or 5 years before I muscled through and got off it.

Debbie: Continued prayers for Destiny and her family
Rebecca: Good that your husband is doing well with his liver transplant
Rori: Glad you made it home!
Betsy: Congrats to your granddaughter
Machka: Congrats on meeting your walking goal
KJKelley: So pleased your DH was supportive and hands on. I will be praying for your sister.
Pipcd: Chispa's hair cut looks good!
Heather: Tulips, daffodils, crocus, pelargoniums---Sounds delightful!
Barbie: Tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, garlic, sunflower, zucchini, pumpkin --I am getting hungry thinking about these!
Katla: Sorry you ended up on the floor!
Lanette: The lawn looks so green and pretty! I got some Sketchers. Permanently tied...just slip them on! No more bending over to tie the sneakers!
Michele: Great your getting some exercise on the days you work!
My Daughter in Law and I had our nails done today! Then they left for a vacation and left the grand dog with me until Wed! The dog is no problem at all except sometimes he wants to eat breakfast at 4 am in the morning!
I have the downstairs of the house picked up now and I am loving it! The clutter is mostly upstairs in one room now and tomorrow the gym is closed. So I hope to work with the clutter for several hours! Not a very exciting way to spend a holiday, but I don't live close to any family to have a BBQ with. Next weekend I will see my mother and 2 of my brothers! Still quite tearful...not able to enjoy classical music on Amazon music this evening. But hopefully this will pass with time.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia
