Yikes Heather
Going up to Carolines for dinner tonight,we are an early crew go up at 5,eat around 5:30 or so and then home by 7 lol
Well lets see Tracy quit school at 16 ,then went on to get her GED ,Both Sean and I did summer school and didn't graduate with our class, but did get our diplomas after completing summer school, Dan and Kyle are the only ones that graduated school with there peers.neither of them went on to huge careers,Dan works in the produce dept at a grocery store in the back where nobody can see him,as he doesn't really clean himself up well..he does wear gloves and all when handling food mind you.
Kyle is a hard worker and has worked his way up to supervisor of shipping department ..he is a salaried employee .
I can only hope Carmine comes to her senses she has alot of talent in the arts but she isn't using them right now.4 -
Sue in WA - Sorry your renter didn't take care of the property. People just don't seem to respect rentals at all.
Walked around outside today a bit with Corey, then came in, vacuumed the living room, kitchen, office and mud room. Got the bathroom rugs in to wash, and will vacuum and mop the bathroom and vacuum the bedroom and the back hallways tomorrow. Maybe. Today's one of the painful days, but I'm moving as and when I can. When I can't, I sit.5 -

Having very lazy day today. Picked up some sort of bug at conference.Got home Thursday evening, was doing some running around chores yesterday. Started coughing at some point during the day. Got to feeling achy, etc at dinner time. By 7:30 or so felt miserable. Took some night time cold and flu medicine (hoping to sleep it out.) Up every couple of hours with severe aches. Went to bathroom, got excessively dizzy in there-had to lay on bathroom floor for a bit. Have slept most of today (off and on). Still have body aches but no more dizziness. I think I picked up a sinus thing from hotel (or maybe one of the 1,100 people there passed something on! Did not drive to memorial service for DS FIL-wasn't comfortable with driving, feel miserable and most importantly don't want to pass anything on to DIL.
Going to slowly try to pick up some things and work on ironing (got laundry washed and dried yesterday). Not worrying about steps, etc. Will try for walk tomorrow morning if body aches better.
I have read all of the goings on for the past few days-brain is too fuzzy to make comments I want too! Plus all of my joints are very painful-including wrists and fingers so typing is not comfortable.
Take care all,

Ginny - That sounds truly awful. Time to go to urgent care?

Home now. Yesterday was a long day of traveling on Amtrak and a bus. I started at 12 noon, and ended at Mt Vernon WA at about 6 pm. Athena loved the train station though, even getting a freight train engineer to use his horn extra long, by pumping her arms up and down at him.
This trip was great for Athena's and I, and getting closer. Taking photos of her and I for memory sake. I know her other grandma does not like her photo taken, but its more important to be in her memories than to have a hangup about weight. I looked at myself and it was a reality check, but dang it I was there. Athena doesn't care if I am a big woman. Big or small, I am her grandma. One photo at the zoo.
I refuse to be absent in photos. I refuse to be invisible. I am loved, not depressed. Sure it would be nice to be smaller, but I refuse to pour any stress into the situation.
That's my take on the situation.💖🤗
My eldest son in Guam participated in a car show on base and won it! He got a $50 gift certificate.
He got extra brownie points for transporting it in his cute Japanese van.💖
Today we went grocery store shopping for my meals. Lots off fruit and veggies. Lunch was a handful of cooked shrimp cut up, cubed cucumbers, spinach, cherry tomatoes, a bit of mozzarella shredded cheese and bagged salad. I used my favorite Annie's shiitake mushroom dressing. Just yum. Husband calls it shi tty mushroom dressing. We can only get it at Fred Meyers on the mainland and he got me two bottles of it.💖🤗
Athena gave me a hot wheels car, and son picked one out too from her pile. I took them home and raced them against husbands cars on his racetrack.💖. She said, "when I visit you, I can take them back home with me".
Take care ladies!

Rebecca-I love your attitude! While I don't like some of my "larger" pictures they are capturing a time with family and friends I like to remember.
Lisa-will go to Urgent in the morning if not substantially better. Hoping it is just a 24 hour fly by. I did test for covid-not that.
I did let both boys know I am not well and two local friends. The friends are the sort who won't harass me but will be doing quick text checkups. Again-one of the reminders as to why a community would be better than me in my house.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Saturday afternoon already; the weekend is rushing by!
To get started, here's a song that takes me right back to 1971. Neat rendition.
Barbara - thank you for sharing the pictures! Love the wedding photo, you were a beautiful bride. Nice to catch us up.
Kate - nice to see you pop in, what have you been up to?
Joy - sounds like you had an awesome vacation, good for you. Sorry to hear about that smoke, I wonder how far it will come into the US. I need to check and see if any east winds will blow it our way. I am very envious of your orchard and blooms by the way. Thanks for sharing your photo - great backdrop and the name Joy fits you. You find joy wherever you go.
Ginny - sorry to hear you caught some crud. I do hope you are better soon.
Rebecca - welcome home, sounds like you had a wonderful time being Athena's grandmother! Who is that older gentleman in some of the pictures - her other grandpa?
Rori - thank you for sharing your vacation photos! We are ready to send bail money but it looks like you are behaving yourself so far. When you get together with Heather, tho, all bets are off.
Kind of a crazy day yesterday - went in to get an oil change, the mechanic said the old Sube needed new brake pads. I hadn't noticed anything but he's probably right. I also need to get the tires rotated and will do that soon and have Les Schwab guys check them out too. I rarely drive the thing anymore but want it to be safe.
Gosh I miss my DH - he could have double checked them in a second. I never know if mechanics and car service departments are trying to take advantage of me or not. They would try in the past and DH would straighten them out.
Then on the way home, once I got onto I-5 and hit about 30 mph, I noticed the hood starting to flutter - it hadn't been completely latched! I pulled off as soon as I could and slammed that baby shut. I called the oil change guy and let him know, he said he's sure his crew did everything right. Mercury must be in retrograde or something.
This morning I remembered I hadn't washed the air cleaner filters on the heat pump. Ever. That was always DH's job. I managed to get them out, washed them as best I could; they were filthy. Struggled to get the door back on once they were dry and put back. But I made it.
I can do pretty good mowing and keeping up outside but anything mechanical or electrical kind of freaks me out, plus I don't have the strength to tackle some of this stuff even if I could figure it out.
I've decided I would be OK with a 65 year old boyfriend as long as he had a son or grandson nearby that liked to do things and show off his skills.
Potted up tomatoes this morning, need to get some kind of a wind screen put up and pop more squash in the dirt. I'm going to try containers.
Have a great rest of your weekend, ladies!

A couple more from day trip to Fort Augustus, through Cairngorms National Park and Ben Nevis range. Our bus driver was hilarious. Very entertaining and informative. Now I know what's worn under kilts. And we saw Nessie!
I saw the picture and know exactly what you meant; but when I read the kilt sentence and the Nessie sentence together, I got a giggle. You had a verrrry naughty bus driver! lol
Machka- I love your backyard and I love your bees and your bee keeping interest.

Ginny sounds so much like what I came down with on my return from Ireland. The hacking, choking cough was the worst. I was extremely tired and dizzy. Just had to sleep and slowly got over it. Still have a bit of a cough but that could be because of the smokey conditions we are dealing with.
Hope you feel better soon.
Joy3 -
Rebecca, lovely pictures. You have a beautiful granddaughter who you are giving wonderful memories to. I applaud your attitude.
Joy3 -
Yes im on the large size too but Miles doesn't care,he loves Grandma anyway..

@Whidislander Us Grandma’s have to create fun everlasting memories with our grand children every opportunity we are given. Looks like you both had a blast!3

Rebecca - those trips seems to go so fast.
Allie - I hope the punishment for Carmine’s poor grades doesn’t affect her mental health too much. What a hard road they are travelling right now.
I personally would be giving her whatever she needed to keep her mental health in a positive place. School is important but until she gets her head straightened around it means nothing to her I’m sure.
I just feel so bad for her.
Just saw the update on Seth helping her, that’s brilliant.
Vicki - I am as long as I don’t have any work issues brought to me. I am still getting texts. Just the thoughts of it get my heart racing.
I hate switching jobs, I don’t know how these people switch from one to another.
Rita - I just downloaded the Balance app. It was a free 1 year subscription on Mother’s Day. I need to start using it now.
Joy - Incredibly smoky here too. At 430 we had to turn a light on to see. It brightened up again around 630, but still very smoky.
Machka - I agree. 2020 made people realize how little they actually spent with their families and after reconnecting it ended up becoming a priority again.
Barbara- thanks for sharing your photos. We were married the same year.
Terri - how great it must be to not have the pain.
Heather - depression is a terrible disease.
Rori - what a great trip. Funnily enough a lady from here is visiting Scotland this week. I’ve gotten to see lots of pictures.
Lisa - I hope that prices start coming down here soon.
Karen - the smoke sure makes for some pretty skies, but I sure wish it would go away. It feels like a cloudy rain day today, but it’s the smoke in the air that means we can’t see the sun. No wind today so that should help the firefighters a bit.
Carol - I saw an interview with Lionel Richie yesterday. He said, “back in my day there was no such thing as ADD/ADHD we were just stupid”. He went in to tell the story of how his grandmother was so frustrated that she couldn’t teach him to read music. He still can’t read it, but he sure can make it. He also said that he can’t read slowly, but can read very fast.
I think I have a quite a few tendencies towards ADHD but have learned over the years to compensate.
I quit school too, it was absolutely horrible for me. I took my GED in Maine as an adult before returning to school to take a computer course. I am one that truly believes school isn’t the only route to success. I also believe success is measured in more than just monetary ways.
Sue - I hope she comes and gets her stuff. What am entitled attitude, I would never expect a free night.
Heather - What are they doing there? Raising the roof or adding an addition?
Annie - I have learned over the last few years that I need music in my life in a very regular basis, it helps my mood immensely. It’s why I asked for my record player for Christmas. I love it!
Ginny - I hope you feel better fast!
Rebecca - It looks like you had a beautiful time.
Athena will cherish those pictures one day. You should print some off for her.
I love your attitude.
Lanette - I would probably be looking for someone too in your situation.
A lot of people have regrets when a loved one passes is that weren’t enough photos. My youngest daughter has been frantically looking for a photo of her and Rodger’s dad since January and so far we haven’t found one.
When I typed that last sentence autocorrect tried to change haven’t to heavenly. 😮
Little family story about my uncle losing his wife.My Uncle and Aunt were married around 35 years when she passed away from cancer. They had 6 adult children. My Uncle remarried 6 months after she passed, there was a lot of division in the family for a time because of it.
My Dad asked my Uncle why he got married so soon after his wife died.
My Uncle told Dad a story.
He told him that his wife had done everything for him their whole lives, she did all of the cooking, the cleaning, everything and he couldn’t do it.
My Aunt’s illness was sudden and and she deteriorated very quickly for the last month of her life he stayed at the hospital with her, then his daughters and daughters in law took care of things when she passed, but they all went home.
He went and bought some groceries and when he came home with them he hit the jug of milk just right in the counter and it burst open. He got that cleaned up, went to buy some food away in the cold cellar and found a bag of rotting carrots. He went to get a bucket, cloth and soap and dropped it going down the stairs. He told my dad he would have married a hooker if she had walked in the door right then. He stayed married for 17 years but they split when all of his kids were in NB but they were living in Yellowknife. It was supposed to be for 6-8 months and after 2 years she refused to leave. He lost 2 siblings that Spring and my dad was sick so he left and moved home.
I puttered around today, tidied a bit and rearranged some photos on walls. DH worked outside for hours in spite of all of the warnings. He’s a grown *kitten* man, I mentioned twice what the air quality was. I’m sure he’ll have a headache later this evening.
This was this afternoon.
The Grands are coming for a sleepover tomorrow night. Their parents are using the movie pass we bought them as a gift for Easter.
I hope the smoke has cleared, I don’t relish the idea of them being inside the whole time. I think that’s what’s going to happen though. I want to find some pictures for my wall, I may have Michaela go through them with me she loves seeing all of us younger. She’s especially shocked when she realizes that Rodger and I have parents. 😂

Got to Replacements. At the last minute I decided to take some pearls that I had with me. Well, I’ll be getting $450 for them in addition to the $277 I’ll be getting as long as they buy everything (and I think they will).
Been walking around the block or going down to Food Lion. Volunteered at the soup kitchen yesterday. Church tonight. At the soup kitchen took home these orange cream cookies. Never heard of them but they were good. Had to try it to be sure that it was orange and not macadamia nut.
White shoes: when I was a little girl, I had a new pair of white sneakers. I was at my aunt’s house and they talked about going to the “black dirt”. I figured that was just a figure of speech. Nope! My white sneakers were never white again...lol I have been wearing white pants and just now started with white shorts
Grocery prices: for the first time in a LOOOONNNGGG time, eggs were under $2. We very seldom eat out
We’ll be getting new phones and I found a cover that I like. We’re also getting new tablets. Only the cover I like has 0 reviews. The ones that have a fair amount of reviews are just the boring solid color. What to do????
Made an orzo shrimp salad to take to a cookout tomorrow. Then made banana chocolate chip cookies for Vince
M – I can’t fathom spending $300 a week on food!
The only thing that I don’t like about sauerkraut is that it is so high in sodium. Otherwise, I love it
Vince said he wants to go to the race at Charlotte next weekend so I’m thinking that maybe I’ll go to Jess’. We shall see, it’s just in the thinking stage right now
KJ – how wonderful you cook so healthy for the kiddos
Debbie – I love my freezer. As a matter of fact, I wish I’d gotten a bigger one. Like you, I buy when something’s on sale and then freeze it for use later
Kim – sounds like you have things in place for your mom. If the PT company is concerned about no grab rails and your mom still doesn’t get them and falls, what happens then? So glad there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for you.
Mary – when we were transferred, the mover said to put one of those coffee filters in the refrigerator and it’ll keep the smell away. We honestly just figured “well, it’s worth a try, but I’m not holding my breath”. But it worked! We one time unplugged the refrigerator down at the condo and had a problem with the freeon so we had to purchase a new refrigerator. So...what we do now is keep the refrigerator on the lowest it can be and put a few bottles filled with water in it
katla – good luck at the eye MD’s. With how much you love to read, I sure hope he/she is a great help.
Rori – so glad you’re having such a wonderful trip. Looking forward to hearing more about it
Fortunately, I can’t drive around to different stores since there are only 2 stores that I drive to: Aldi and WalMart. I can walk to Food Lion, but their prices are high so I only get what’s on sale or that I can only get at that store.
Ginny – hope you feel better fast
Rebecca – what wonderful memories you are making with Athena! How often do you get to see her? Congrats to your son. Welcome home. Love your attitude
Need to go take a shower, maybe work on the jigsaw puzzle or watch TV then get to bed.

That is one of the features of living here that provides peace of mind - if I am not home, my wife has a call button (and her phone) to quickly get help if she should need it. If she was sick and I wasn’t here, she would let the nurses know, and they would keep tabs on her.
We have few regrets about moving here. Sometimes I do get tired of talking to people, so I have my little
shortcuts to avoid the lobby, lounge, and other busier common areas. The adjustments we have made are small price to pay for all we have gained.

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1323 calories. There was some "self-care" chocolate in there. But I did my bike and my dumbbells for a deficit of 163. So not a total binge day, just a little indulgent.
