Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD. The tubs of books will be sold by the estate lady after we have a video call with my sisters husbands kids to see what they want. Then we will pack those items back up for them. My sister is way too nice. One lives in Spokane and the other in Great Falls Montana, but still my sister is doing all of the leg work. I will take a photo when we get it all completed so you know how many things we've unpacked. Its staggering.🙃😁🙄😂

Mary - what a mess those pigs would have made. Hopefully none of them were injured though.
Evie - I agree. If I watch a movie I don’t enjoy the book as much. I very rarely watch a movie based on a book I have read because what I envisioned the characters and settings are never accurate.
I remember the the 90’s a lot of Danielle Steel books were made into for tv movies. At the time I loved her writing and had read most of her books more than once. One in particular, the main character was pregnant and the housekeeper made spaghetti and meatballs and she couldn’t eat it. In the movie they changed it to beef stroganoff. I never understood why they had to change something so insignificant but at the same time, and apparently still, it just turned me off the rest of the movies.
Niagara Falls is where DH surprised me for our 1st anniversary. It was in the Maid of the Mist that I realized I might be expecting our eldest.
Lanette - I’m sure there would be times when you feel isolated. I would hear too. I don’t know how I will handle living alone if that time ever comes. I don’t think I would do well.
I might if I got active in the community and doing things like some of the ladies on here.
Lisa - It’s always a shame when a drug doesn’t do what it’s supposed to in our body. I hope the next attempt is better received.
I have to do my windows again! The neighbours had new sod laid and the spray from their sprinklers have hit my windows. 😮
Allie - That’s great news he’ll be going to daycare. If they don’t let you see him in the afternoons or on weekends, they should be ashamed of themselves. You do everything for them.
Rebecca - your sister is very nice. I hope they appreciate her.
The Grands and their Mama came to hang out today. They made some shirts and ran in the sprinkler.
Has anyone watched the movie Queenpins?
The language is a little rough but it’s a funny, inspired by true events, movie.
It was a great day.

I have got to stop getting so upset and frustrated with my dad. He got to me again today. I have to accept the things I cannot change.

Is what he is working on dangerous?
For example, my husband is not supposed to work with power tools or climb ladders because of his epilepsy.
If it is dangerous, then you might need a medical professional to advise your father to stop doing whatever it is.

Machka,
I am SO glad I don’t feel compelled to check email anymore. My work emails are defunct, thank goodness. Email is my least favorite way of communicating.
Now that I am retired, I let people know that I am not good at checking and responding to email so their expectations can be adjusted.
On the other hand, I am excellent at responding to texts and pretty good about phone messages.
I have never figured out a way to keep my email clutter under control, so it’s a huge chore for me to wade through it looking for a message that I care about.
My bad.
Karen in Virginia
It becomes problematic for me when I need information at work, or when a response or lack of response will result in money/time/effort etc. savings or loss.
Of the 4-ish email responses I'm waiting on, 1 is a work email and the other 3 are personal but important in terms of money/time/effort etc.
And email in those situations is efficient because I can include all the details and attachments, and have an email trail.
If it is just casual emails between friends or family, I'll often go weeks before I'll respond to someone.
Texts and phone calls ... you may never hear from me! The chances I'll return a phone call are really slim. They're slightly better with a text but not much.

I just don't DO them. Mainly, I don't do hot and I don't do sun. I get overheated way too easily, so the mere energy it takes to drag a chair and umbrella to a beach so that I could sit, with my feet in the water, carefully shaded, completely exhausts me. Then there's getting all that stuff back to the car. Now, give me a zero-entry, beach-type pool in my backyard and I'm there daily, doing laps and then relaxing, watching my grands! And we have a large enough backyard for it. We just don't have the funds for it! LOL.

I love beaches, but I rarely sit on the beach.
I love walking in the water or on the sand, especially barefoot ... it seems to ease my arthritis.
If the beach is nicely packed, I'll jog on it.
We've also cycled on firmly packed beaches.
As in the photos I posted, we'll fly kites on the beach or play games.
There was a beach off the coast of Western Australia, that was so gorgeous. The water was warm and seemed to have a higher than usual salt content, and it was fantastic for swimming.

Evie: Lisa, sorry to hear you had a bad reaction to the new meds, hope you can find an alternative! (other than no meds, that is)
Thank you so much for your kind comments! Boring medication stuff and TMI:I do find the ongoing search for something to alleviate my gut inflammation quite frustrating, but it demonstrates something I've said for years. Doctors don't know our specific body will reply, they just know the data on what ought to happen with a given medication. Individual bodies do not necessarily react the way their known data says they will.
This is the second drug in this same family of salicylates that has not been useful for me. TMI - but with the first one, the capsule contents of tiny white beads carrying the medication emerged exactly as they went in--didn't cause vertigo or dizziness, just didn't get absorbed by my body at all.
I am still a bit dizzy around the edges, but slowly feeling better each day as the medication wears off. Thank you for thinking of me.
Love to all,
Lisa in AR
I have a growing list of medications I am allergic to. Mainly antibiotics, but a few others as well. By allergic, I mean breaking out in a huge rash and difficulty breathing, as well as several other symptoms such as painful joints as though I had arthritis in them, numb hands, tongue & mouth, dizziness and all sorts.
Makes it interesting when I actually need something.
You're absolutely right ... individual bodies do not necessarily react the way their known data says they will.
In general, I make a point of taking as little medication as possible because my body doesn't react well to so many and because, where possible, I prefer to deal with the cause rather than the symptoms, realising, of course, that sometimes we need the medications.
I forget where I was recently, but I had to list the medications I was on, and I listed both of them (I'm on 2) and the medical specialist just looked at me for several moments, then she said, "And ...". I responded, "That's it". It seemed to surprise her.

Sunday Cycling ...
We were attempting a 50 km ride, but ended up with a number of flat tyres so didn't quite finish. My husband is changing a flat in the photo.
However, it did give me the opportunity to cycle briskly in a few places, with lots of huffing and puffing.

"The lungs are the primary organ used to remove fat from your body. During the energy conversion process, fat leaves the body either as carbon dioxide when you exhale, or as water in the form of urine or sweat. Body fat does not turn into muscle or exit the body through the colon."
"When fat leaves the body, 84% is exhaled as CO2 and the remaining 16% is excreted as water. So most of the fat we burn is literally released into the air."

Good morning, afternoon and/or evening, all...
Early morning looks to be nice and peaceful, then around 9am a Walmart delivery with curtain rods for the blackout curtains I need to put up. The curtain panels came in first, and they look like just the ticket. I'll have to get the sewing machine threaded and ready, as some will need to be modified in length for the smaller windows. Easy modifications - all straight-line seams, nothing fussy.
Hope to get Corey to do the ladder climbing to get the rods put up. The curtains need to be easy to open and close to adjust to where the sun is during the day, so I ordered ones with tiebacks.
My kitchen gets the morning sun, which is lovely throughout the cool months, but can get unbearably hot in summer time. The living areas and the bedroom get the afternoon and evening heat all summer. We expect the curtains will pay for themselves within a few months by keeping the cooling bills down. We've already seen 90F (32C) degree days here, and summer afternoons will get well past that, with more and more days over 100F (38C).
Feeling peaceful and serene on this lovely Sunday, hope y'all are too...
Love,
Lisa in AR

Good morning!
Well darn cat was playful last night and attacked my foot at 1 am. Went to the bathroom and felt a cooling sensation on my foot and noticed it. I hopefully didn't leave a stain on the bottom of the bed! Crazy cat!

Lisa ~ We are able to keep the ac bills down due to having overhead fans in almost every room. I hope your blackout curtains do the job for you.
Kim ~ Was glad to hear from you concerning your new freedom at home. I hope your mom continues to improve in her own home.
Annie ~ I can understand your worry about the dangerous things your dad wants to do but have no suggestions to help.
Debbie ~ I continue to pray for Destiny.
I love mystery books and will have to look up those by Penny. I have read a lot of lisa Regan's books. At the present time, I am finishing up the Texas series by Fern Michaels. They are not mysteries but really draw you into the lives of a family through many generations.

Kirkman3-that's great progress. Just shoot for staying under 30. Studies are showing that 25-27 is better for seniors. If you can get below 25 do so slowly and in a healthy manner. Getting below 30 should improve your blood work nicely.(And this is from a woman who was trying for 22-and couldn't maintain that!)
Pip-glad Yogi is back to normal. It is always a worry when our kids are sick/have an ailment.
Kylia-showers moving in from Cincinnati-not quite to Kettering yet. Calling fir t-storms at noon and showers chancel later pm. Hope so-we need it!
Allie-Miles going to child care is good. No offense, but it really sounds like you are not in shape to watch him right now. When your health stuff is straightened out it will most likely be a different picture. And you can be emergency backup. Have you tried turmeric/ginger for inflammation? You can get capsules or tea.
Rebecca-I am getting tired just reading about the work you and sister are doing! How good of you to help. It can be a lonely and overwhelming process doing that on your own.
Lanette-my isolation times are fewer. Of course, working still helps me-gets me out and changes my focus. That's part of why I want to move to an independent living community-the opportunities for new and different interactions.
Tracey-it sounds like your break is helping tremendously.
Paid bills this am. The AT&T site was down, again. Of course, they don't post a message when you go to sign in that they are doing maintenance, just that some things may not be available. The girl in chat couldn't believe the messages I was getting. Finally her supervisor was told by tech what was going on. This site is one of the worst I have ever used. Tempted to go back to paper bills and pay by check.
Good walk this am. Went a bit over three miles. Walked south of my house and there is a bit more elevation changes. Think it is good to vary. Doing usual Sunday stuff. Ironing (which I know some of you vaguely remember-don't judge me!), vacuum, litter boxes and a bit for work catch up.
Hoping the rain comes through!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Kirby has his MRI appointment this morning .13
-
Pip-hope MRI doesn't bother him. I typically keep my eyes closed. Last one I had had a mirror in it so I could see staff behind the glass running the machine-that was not bad at all.2
-
Ginny I agree with needing rain and AT&T site! We did get some light rain here in Maysville this morning.(Go to Cincy then go east for 45 mins) Really need a few days.
I looked up perennials for the farm flower beds. I am planning on thinning my hostas from home as well as my autumn joy's. Also will bring down some cone flower seeds and black eyed Susan's. Then will fill in with some others. The beds are pretty bare. Figure if fill in with flowers will be less weeds and better for wildlife.
Heading to Lowe's. More later!
Oh 10k steps yesterday!

My wrist is very gradually getting a bit more mobility, but I can see it's going to be a slow business. I'm doing the exercises regularly. The most difficult one is a forward bend from the wrist. Tomorrow I can leave the support off and start a new series of exercises.
DH and I had a difficult evening yesterday over his daughter. I was trying to express my sympathy for her and didn't choose my words very well. He felt I was insulting her, whereas I felt I was only expressing sentiments we have shared before. I should just keep out of it as he is so sensitive about her. Neither of us slept well, but I do believe we have repaired the situation after discussion this morning.
Rupture happens. The important thing is the repair.
Yesterday was HOT. The night was HOT. But today has been cooler and cloudier, thank goodness. DH has offered to pick up Bea on Tuesday, after my last adventure, plus it will be hottish again. I have a trip booked for Thursday to meet G at a gallery for lunch. It's a short train ride away. Praying for coolish weather. The artist is Gwen John.
I will have to start thinking about packing soon. I've had trouble finding our favourite moisturiser and thought I had bagged one on Amazon, but they sent the wrong one. Boo! Now I have to return it. We need the one for sensitive skin. I've been using it for over 35 years. DH for 19. It doubles as a sunscreen. We both have our other anti-midge moisturiser for the countryside.
As I've bought new knickers and socks, I've been throwing away any that are not perfect.
Lovely prawns for dinner. Fresh tomatoes and red pepper sauce. Brown rice. I do the brown rice in the IP and freeze left overs.
