Recent Dialog ... Sigh ...
Flea ... followed the link on the Island ... how neat! Enjoy your vacation!
Heather ... I'll be looking forward to your photos when available... Hope you enjoy your vacation as well.
Rita ... beautiful tomatoes!
Father's Day ... difficult for so many
Rita ...I’m with you.
We are soon off to Walmart ... which I rarely frequent and definitely not on the weekend ... but we are having a coffee dilemma. The past week our coffee has been abnormally weak. We have opened several containers of the same brand of coffee. Checked online… they have not recently changed blend or brew strength. The coffee maker is old and not worth the vinegar to clean it. So we will buy a new pot and use our regular coffee and see what happens.

We drink instant ... nice, consistent strength. Unless I want it stronger.

I haven't received anything yet.
But then, I'm not on the strongest connection so maybe it will turn up.

Would love some support on my weight loss journey. Prior to the start of the pandemic I had lost 90#. Put it all back on and then some. May last year I started again and got down 47#. Then my mom passed away and I lost all my will power and gained quite a bit back. I’m back on track since March and have lost 28#. Slow and easy. Walking more now that my hip is bothering less. Going to be stressful as it appears on a new scan that my husbands cancer has likely spread further into his spine. More testing in a couple weeks to confirm, then I believe he’ll start radiation. Need to maintain what control I have by keeping on track with my eating and walking. Before that, my husband and I will be going on vacation to Lake George where we’ve rented an RV for 10 days. Lots of outdoor time and great waking trails.
I hope you have had a great weekend.18 -

Betsy - welcome home it sounds like a nice trip
Lisa - I’m always amazed about the differences in employment in the different areas. Im glad Corey will be taking some time.
Ewww - I would have run screaming in the house if I was met with that snake!
Barbie - I can get in and out of Costco rather quickly and inexpensively. DH and I went the other day and it was expensive.
I have been reading a lot, doing some soul searching and trying to decompress.
I heard a thing on the radio today about how stress affects our short term memory. This spoke quite loudly to me because I have found myself losing words in the middle of sentences, this can be reversed.
I too am limited in my flower knowledge.
What show did you and Jake finish? I’m looking for something.
Lanette - I need to get back in shape too, I am in the same situation as you. I know besides menopause the stress I’ve been under has affected me terribly.
Joy - it sounds like Lucy is settling in and starting to feel safe with you.
Allie - I understand why you told Seth’s parents about some of the things going on, I also understand why Carmine was so upset by it. Not only are you telling things that put them in a negative light, you also brought it to their safe place. They probably felt at peace there and now has to worry about being disliked, judged, etc.
That’s pretty tough for a kid to handle. My Mom did that to me once (something more minor) and from that point on I just didn’t tell her stuff that I didn’t want shared because I didn’t trust it wouldn’t go anywhere.
Flea - I hope your new meds work well for you.
All we can do is love our children and grandchildren for who they are, their lives are theirs to live.
I have always been careful with my words and imparting my beliefs on my girls, I wanted with them what I didn’t have with my parents. Honesty and a freedom to say what they think without fear of repercussions. Our youngest challenged us the most in keeping our mouths shut, but she is a beautiful woman with a beautiful life and she comes to us with everything. Her friends even do. It was worth the bruised tongue in the end.
Margaret - I am relatively new to gardening. I look for ones that require little care and maintenance because it’s not my favourite thing to do. We finally have some rain the last couple of days so I have not needed to lug the watering can outside 10 times in the evening. Your neighbours are very fortunate, maybe they can ask for some of your gardening knowledge to help them in the future.
Ginny - Genealogy is so much fun and such a rabbit hole. I have a whole chest full of stuff from my Dad’s fathers side and both of my Moms sides. I am missing anything on my husbands family and my Dad’s mom’s side.
Heather - have an amazing cruise! Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Flea - have a wonderful trip!
Terri - Well said
Rebecca - how sweet the great nieces spoiled you on your birthday.
Carol - I very rarely watch movies unless it’s animated or a feel good “based on a true story” or documentary type ones.
The last one I watched was Queenpins, I think there was some language in it though.
The one before that, also with language but I enjoyed more was The Hot Flashes both were on Amazon.
Annie - I need a sister challenge. Keep up the great work!
Had our eldest and her family out for supper tonight. It was nice
We are finally getting a nice steady rain. I hope it does a lot for the fires.

Woke up at what I thought was the early dawn, with an anxiety attack. Did all the things, the breathing, body scan, visualisation etc. No success. Finally decided to read for a bit, thinking my night was over. It was 1.30! Nice surprise!
I read until 3.00 and went back to sleep intil 6.30, when the butterflies woke me up again.
Here I am, ready for a cup of tea. I will do a short exercise session and my yoga stretches, as I don't want to seize up with tension. After only a few days of stress my body feels as if it's been through a war zone, so I really sympathise with those of you who are under a lot of stress. A couple of holidays in the past were made very difficult because my back seized up at the packing stage. Sometimes it disappeared miraculously on the plane, but one or two times I didn't shake it off. I find this kind of holiday a lot less stressful, but I know that I have to be kind to myself.
The ship should have docked at Dover by now. I will look it up on my app..
Much love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -

Listened to Dr Chatterjee this morning, with Dr Robert Kennedy, about anxiety. V good. Mine is linked to the OCD and perfectionism I had as a child, as a way of feeling safer if I had everything under control. Helpful.
We are now waiting for the taxi to arrive. I'm calming myself by thinking of Edie doing art with us. Happy memory.

Can anyone recommend a good movie to watch on Netflix or Prime (free only)? I am sitting here and every movie I start I have to end because they aren't worth watching.
Carol in GA on a Quiet Sunday Afternoon
We don't have Netflix. Instead I buy used movie and TV series DVDs of things we like.
Usually, that means movies from the 80s and 90s.

Good Monday!
Was a rough week last week, but a wonderful weekend. Have caught up reading. Will add more later
Many prayers for healing and also safe travels!
Thankful for all of the experiences of all the different ladies here!
Much love,

Attended a conference in Melbourne, Australia this past weekend for my cycling club, Audax Australia. I'm on the National Committee and we (theoretically) have an in-person meeting once a year. "Theoretically", because our last in-person meeting was in 2019, pre-COVID.
It was a good conference ... good to see everyone, good discussions, good camaraderie, nice hotel and good facilities. I'm very glad I went.
But, as an introvert, it was tiring. I slept deeply last night with next to none of my sleep help meds! And I still feel like I could sleep for a solid 12 hours.

Drew B's, a chihuahua Italian greyhound mix, her autoimmune condition now is affecting her platelets. They are very low. I am eliminating ginger and fish oil from her diet. They are blood thinners. I am boosting the super greens. Besides Kale I am adding a supergreen supplement and Vit C. Dogs do make their own Vit C but with her body under the stress it is with her condition she needs a boost. I will continue with mostly beef/bison/sardines and 10% liver and heart. Beef broth or goats milk as a topper. She will have a recheck in 2 months. If platelets are still low the next step is cortisone type medications.
I also have to be careful she does not get injured so no rough housing with other dogs. Her exercise needs to be moderate. I need to lead a low stress life, so she has a low stress life. Barbie you are my role model.
Neighbors should be home today and we did get a little rain last night. I will be glad not to be responsible for taking care of that newly planted garden.
We are enjoying fresh strawberries from son's house. I pick about a quart a day. Enough for the two of us with one or two for Drew.
My comment on the recent discussions is you cannot control the audience. All I can do is address my own reaction and give myself space to decide for myself what is an appropriate response.
I ask myself the following questions to start...
Is it Kind?
Is it True? If yes does saying it help the situation. Maybe best left unsaid.
Do I need to reframe my thoughts? Put it in perspective...
In case of conflict...What must be protected?...What must be restored?...Quote from Karen McLauren
One of my favorites that is not a question...Just because I see the hook does not mean I have to bite. I have said this to children and I ask them what happens to the fish if they bite.
Another quote I like...Between the stimulus and the response there is a space and what you do with that space can make all the difference. Stephen Covey wrote this quote at the beginning of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People...
As an adult I have learned that life is not fair even though we crave that it should be...
My son who died taught me the most important lesson of all just love and be kind...Margaret

Carol The movie about Mr. Rogers Neighborhood with Tom Hanks is one of my favorite more recent movies. I did buy a copy of it.7

Good movie on Netflix "A Man Called Otto". What I just finished watching was "Breaking Bad" followed by "Better Call Saul" They are two exceptional series but violence, language, and questionable morals may not be appealing to some.
