Machka,
May I please have that photo of the leaf insect? I would prefer that you send it to me rather than taking a screen shot.
If that is agreeable, I’ll PM you my phone and you can text it to me.

p.s. 😍 Your recent coloring 😍.
There is a coloring club here. I might go once to see who is in it, but I may prefer to color as meditation rather than socialization.1 -
Some of today's artistic efforts drying. Bea has also painted her ceramic heart and Edie and DH are trying an experiment with the masking fluid.

Morning ladies
Well I texted Tracy this morning, ya'll keep your fingers crossed a family outing to the zoo is happening today and here is hoping it doesn't go bursting into flames.. if the 2 moody ones would think of the little one who is the one that the trip is for..than maybe it will all work out.5 -
Heather,

I’m so tickled for you that your son wants the abstract!

A warm welcome to the newbies.

Vicki, I keep meeting Nebraskans or people with ties to Nebraska - it’s gratifying to talk about my home state and meet people who know what I’m talking about.

Machka congrats on the weight loss. I'm still struggling with getting rid of my excess pounds. Just concentrating on smaller portions, no junk food and moving more. I think my gardening will help in that respect.
I actually got through menopause with no major issues. Was not able to take HRT due to history of cancer (ovarian) in family.
Rebecca congrats to your son. Amazing accomplishment to be proud of for sure. My brother had a career in the Navy. He went through Royal Rhodes Military College in Canada. Enlisted at age 18 and was able to retire with full pension at a very early age. Enjoyed his military career and still stays in touch with people he met when he first joined.

Hello ladies.
I'm sad today because my Aunt died. And I'm frustrated because my Dad announced he is going to the funeral but doesn't realize he can't go alone. I texted my sister who might have to come out and take care of mom so I can take dad to the funeral. We are waiting to hear when the funeral will be. Meanwhile my mom is claiming she can stay with her sister, but that leaves Teddy alone. Her sister has enough on her hands anyway. I'm hoping my sister can fly out from Tennessee. I guess it's normal for things to be jumbled at this point, but I'm rattled.

A thought about gratitude. Gratitude lists are frequently lists of new, exciting, special, memorable things and that's great, but it's important to me to be grateful every day for the usual things, the things I nearly take for granted, the things that I would miss if they were taken away. Some examples are my husband, my dog, my health, my house, my ability to think and reason, mobility, sight, hearing. There are so many.

Nice! My husband still is in contact with some of his shipmates from his fist ship. He stayed in for 20. Its nice to have friends you have gone thru so much with. I have a friend I met back in 1988 when we were stationed in Japan. We met at the base laundromat and pal'ed around together for a year while husbands sailed on their respective ships. We are still best friends 35 years later, but have had no real direct visits. I am on Whidbey island in WA state, and she is in Connecticut. Hopefully one day.

1. Decide to look for what’s good every day this month.
I have been enjoying coding during the first 2 days of the month. That's been really good.
Also the 25 flights of stairs a day.
2. Say positive things in your conversations with others.
Chatted with a work friend about our gardens first thing this morning.
Smiled and thanked people as usual.
BTW - thanking the bus driver at the end of a trip is a thing here.
Machka in Oz
3. Re-frame a worry and try to find a helpful way to think about it.
Where do I even start? A single worry?
There are so many worries rumbling away in the background but I try not to think about them or dwell on them.
I try to focus on the good days or even good moments.
M in Oz
Reframing a worry means to me, stating the worry in my mind then writing BUT and continuing the thought.
"My youngest son hasn't contacted us since June 2020, BUT I know the Navy is caring for him, and he is happy."
My negative becomes a learning tool and sad, though uplifting, statement.😁💖🤗

Day went really well, but I was totally knackered by the end! My son had a great time at the Van Gogh, which I think one or two of you have been to. Edie's cake was excellent - gluten free, of course - but we had trouble lighting the sparklers on top.
They had fun playing boules out in the newly mown garden with DH. All good. I took videos, which are very funny and will be a great memory.
So, phew!!!!
DH had a long phone call with his daughter this morning. She is distraught. The boyfriend had been cheating on her with an ex. Then dumped her. Nice one! She is off tomorrow on a holiday to Corsica with a girlfriend, so I hope she will be more sanguine when she gets back.
I have a phone call booked for tomorrow morning with L.

Stat for the day-
Walk w/yogi and chispas- 1hr 52min 18sec, 2.88ap, 312ekev, 98ahr, 140mhr, 5.70mi= 580c
Strava app= 699c
In the beginning of the walk, Lucy was already starting to limp, so I had kirby make a u turn and bring her back, the other 2 and I went for the walk. On the way back almost got pounced on by a young elk. A car passerby came to my rescue. Too lazy to toe the details, was a close one.8 -

Heather- looks like everyone had a good time..
They had a good time at the zoo.
Took Alfie down to visit Tom and Elena and Homie.. was there foe about 1/2 hr..they got a new dining set.. very nice and got the awning up out back. After having the tree was taken down..
All well over there..
Ordered stuff from Bath and body works .mostly for Christmas Presents.1 -
drove the half hour up to the birthday party for the triplets, went around trying to find the right party(it was at a park and there were other parties going on)- text the mom because I didn't want to walk to the wrong one. She text back- sorry, forgot to tell you that the party was canceled. One of the boys fell and cut his mouth open Wed. night. Stitches all along inside of his bottom lip from one side to the other.
Was really looking forward to seeing them, finally. Told her to let me know when it is rescheduled.
Stopped at two stores while I was up there- spent a whole $5 between the two plus got my two freebies for the weekend. One was a yogurt smoothie. Drank that on my way home beings I hadn't eaten yet and by then it was after 1PM. 70cal. not bad tasting and can't beat free.
Had some left over almond chicken when I got home now back to baking/candy making for the dessert auction. Next is cho. dipped strawberries and cherries. Then make the mango ricotta filling for the mango cake. I will get up early and put it together. Already baked the mini pie crusts and I had the blueberry pie filling in the freezer. Brownies baked this morning too along with the mango cake.
Nice to not have all of it to do this evening. May bake a few more things for it. Pulled fudge from the freezer too. Will put those trays together tomorrow too. Better set my alarm to 7 I think.
