The Guest Director rang us just now about the incident with the woman next door.
She has been assessed by the doctor and the husband told that she must not be left alone.
I said our complaint was with the system, which was not working. We asked three times for someone to be sent to stay with the woman, while we were propping the door open and talking her down.
He didn't know that it had been so long or the real situation. I said we didn't mind doing it, but the protocol needed to be looked at. He was very grateful for us bringing it to his attention. Apparently a nurse should have been sent.
So, we feel we have done our duty by Saga!!!!
Now sailing away.

Rosemarie, our thoughts are with you on your anniversary.
My dad got home fine, and said the driving was no problem. So again I was worried for nothing!
Heather what a beautiful town!

Debbie--No words, just prayers.
Heather--Looking good! So enjoying the pictures of your trip.
Flea-- Thanks for the pictures, looks like everyone is having a good time.
Rosemarie--Sending BIG hugs. I hope your memories give you some comfort today.
Annie--Glad your dad did well and got home safe.
Weigh in this week was bad, I have to get a handle on this stress and just being overly tired eating.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE5 -
Hi Gals,
Heather – great pictures! As I did not know what ads you were talking about it was great that you included a photo – thanks! You get 3 cheers from me for helping the woman in the cabin next door – and probably forcing the husband to be more realistic of the situation with his wife.
Rosemarie/Mary – I wonder if you could play around with a substitute for the cheese Danish, something with still a bit of sugar for the instant boost, but some higher protein and fiber for longer lasting fuel.
Just for grins and giggles I googled “starbucks menu nutrition” and they have quite a complete list with all the info; and even some suggestions… If you could even drop the total by 2-3 points it would give you more wiggle room for the rest of the day.
While I am not at goal weight I have kept over 30 lbs off for many years and the biggest thing I did was doing “trades” so finding something I could fill in for an item with really high calories. I found new salad dressing, new BBQ sauce, new butter choice – all with tons less calories. And then sub cooked spinach for a “base” that in my old world would have been rice, or noodle. There is more for me to do, but the trades helped me feel less deprived. And in most cases I really prefer my new choices over the previous choices.
((((Destiny and those who love her))))
Allie – Miles is adorable.
Pip – the fountain is great and especially with the new wall behind it. The carrier is a nice way to do a break for your pup.
Flea – great pictures!
I know there is more to comment on…. But time to get to work.
Smiles

I was a little faster on the ride today, which was nice. After I was done, I saw that I was at 900 calories so I got on the spin bike so I could make it to 1000.
I tell you what, riding outside is TOTALLY different than riding on a spin bike, my triceps are feeling it.. took a slightly different route home so I could make it to 25miles, it worked.4 -
Thank you all for the love, thoughts, and hugs. I really need them.
I talked to DS yesterday. He was by himself in a different state, but apparently had to go back to the gang because they have stored some of their ‘stuff’ in his car and he is afraid to ditch it all because he doesn’t want them coming after him when/if he leaves. This also makes me think he likes being with this group of people. He’s got a record already and waiting on the last court date for the breaking and entering he did when he had the mental breakdown a couple years ago. He is supposed to stay in Rhode Island but so far has lived in CT and is now in MA. He was determined to be mentally incompetent to stand trial and is supposed to compliant with medications and therapy for them to not put him in jail. Seems like he’s really messing up this time.
I’m sorry for the drama about my DS. I just really need to talk to someone about this and don’t know who to trust so talk here. This is my therapy. Speaking of that, I go to therapy next week. Boy do I have a discussion for her! At least the meds I’m on make me feel better, just numb. As Matchka says feeling numb is better than the alternative.

1. Decide to look for what’s good every day this month. Started with friendly people.
2. Say positive things in your conversations with others. I will try, but people annoy me.
3. Re-frame a worry and try to find a helpful way to think about it. This will be about my son. Not sure how to re-frame it but will find a way today. I must realize he is a full grown man and in charge of his own life.
4. Take a photo of something that brings you joy and share it.
5. Think of 3 things you’re grateful for and write them down. 1. My family, 2. A roof over my head, 3. Enough food to eat.
6. Get out into green space and feel the joy that nature brings. every day!
7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good. 2 walks so far. And therapist today.
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share. To be accomplished.
9. Ask a friend what made them happy recently. Did this on my trip to Lubbock to get my car back finally. Was a great day!
10. Bring joy to others by doing something kind for them. Will report on this later! Gave a family some Little Debbie cookies.
11. Eat good food that makes you happy and really savor it. Will do! Yesterday had a salad made from lettuce, onion, peppers, and tomato from my garden. The dressing was homemade too! Mmmmmm
12. Write a gratitude letter to thank someone. To be done! Sent my GS a thank you note for being my grandchild!
13. Take a light-hearted approach. Choose to see the funny side. Already happening after a very stressful day yesterday.
14. Share a happy memory with someone who means a lot to you. Will do.
15. Look for something to be thankful for where you least expect it. This will be fun to find things. How about turtle eggs on the beach that have to be moved to not be crushed.
16. Speak to others in a warm and friendly manner. I will try.
17. Take time to notice things that you find beautiful. Will do! Watched people enjoying the lake on a beautiful Saturday!
18. Look for something good in a difficult situation. My son is getting help from a social worker who is including me.
19. Get outside and find the joy in being active.Too hot today, 105 degrees at 1;45 pm!
20. Rediscover and enjoy a fun childhood activity. Going to color! Didn’t do this. I must make time to do this.
21. Send a positive note to a friend who needs encouragement. Forgot to do this
22. Watch something funny and enjoy how it feels to laugh. There is a funny tv show called “The Neighbors” about humans living next door to aliens that makes me laugh. Will watch that today.
23. Create a playlist of uplifting songs to listen to. I have one already!
24. Bring to mind a favorite memory you feel grateful for. Boating on the Cumberland River in TN. So peaceful!
25. Show your appreciation to people who are helping others. Will do if i have the opportunity.
27. Be kind to you. Do something that brings you joy. Going to get some ice cream at sonic today after a Dr. Appt.
28. Notice how positive emotions are contagious among people. I’ve noticed that just a smile to a stranger changes their visage.29. Share a friendly smile with people you see today.
30. Make a list of the joys in your life and keep adding to it.

Rita - many ((HUGS))) re the situation with your son. Hope it gets resolved and he is safe. I am following your doc visits. Didn't you say this (gal?) is a functional medicine doc? These aches and pains can get a person down.
Welcome new gals, by the way.
Sending cooling thoughts to those of you baking the the south and parts of the Midwest. Two years ago this week the Pacific Northwest saw temps above 105f for several days. So far there's none of that in the forecast.
Make it a good day!

Lanette, I have a functional doctor (male for doc, female for NP) for my PC, and a therapist that does alternative therapy as well as standard therapy. I do the therapy session with her then sit in the water massage chair for 30 minutes after. So relaxing. Can’t wait to do that next week. I really need that now. My therapist has me on 3 different medications for my depression and anxiety. 1 I have been on for over 20 years and can’t get off of due to major panic attacks if I lower the dose. We tried. My functional doctor takes blood tests every 3 months and adjusts supplements and/or medications according the results of the blood work. But most of the changes in results are affected by my diet. I actually fixed my cholesterol in 3 months by adding MCT oil once a day. That and walking got all the numbers in the right ratios. I also lowered my A1C from 7 to 5.1 by watching carbs. It may be slower this way but much better than just throwing medications at me.

Pip—I am always impressed with your bike riding, indoors & outdoors. You’re inspiring me to move more—walking indoors or outside eliminates excuses for being a couch potato. ⭐️
Smokey air from fires in Canada is blowing this way. Air quality is not the best. I’m staying inside for now.

Rita - Just BIG hugs. Soooo hard.
Having a quiet evening with no activities. Bliss!
I'm debating whether to have a bath.
Love to all, Heather, off to Bodø.1 -
Today I took a long shower and rubbed my skin with coconut oil from my toes to my nose.😂🙃. Gave myself a massage, concentrating on my left foot which is still so sore. Feeling happy and sipping coffee. I am such a simple minded person.
Today making more stationery using the new stickers I got from my sisters. Its just washi tape on lined paper, and a sticker to make it pretty.
I am going to make more sweet biscuits after I buy more strawberries and whipped cream. Husband loved it with jam instead of strawberries. He ate most of them and I had like 2 scones of the batch. 🙄🙃💖
Today I will make a mixture of cut onion, mushrooms, wild rice, sausage and a potato.

How goes it? Rita- what is a functional dr? My GP is leaving.. so I might have to look for someone else..
I just don't want to be given pills for every thing. But have to make sure it is covered by medicare and supplmental.

Packed mostly ..will hop in the shower in the morning.. and get gas before getting Alfie..and then we are off.4 -
Allie - look for a doctor or nurse practitioner in Functional medicine. It is a relatively new speciality. I have a cousin who trained in this at the Cleveland clinic. She now has her own clinic in IA.
Prayers for Destiny.
Heather - sounds like a wonderful cruise.
Flea - looks like your travels are going well too.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA2 -

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1163 calories, which is one extra serving of chocolate, so not bad. And I did thirty minutes on the bike, and an hour of yoga, and thirty minutes of aerobic walking. Yay! My deficit is 455, Yay! Day 13 of my challenge and it's going well.
Today I was reading about Couch to 5k. I would like to try something like that someday. Running burns so many calories. But I have to make sure my knee can handle it first. So not yet.
