Im trying to lay low and get some rest..
Carol my cruise isn't until August 26th.9 -
Carol: I hope your ankles are okay.
Diana: Welcome! I am glad you posted! I have been doing this blog for almost a year. Others have been doing the blog 10 years or longer.
Allie: Glad the chest x-ray was clear.
I came to the blog to vent for a minute. I absolutely hate sorting! Yet I have 1 room that still has medical supplies and other items from my husband's illness. And I took all the clutter in my bedroom and put it on my bed. Recall, I have ADD so I struggle with piles. I will have to sleep elsewhere until the clutter is gone.
Today my goal is to sort 75 items and tomorrow sort 100 items. I will listen to an audio book while I do this. Ugh! There are so many better things to do!

Barbara ... I'd be rattled by knocking off my car mirror regardless of vehicle speed! So glad it was nothing major!
Allie ... glad the x-ray is clear!
Internet/Cable/Phone ... we bundle these together. The phone is a landline needed for my captioning phone service. Although, I recently found phenomenal captioning service for my cell phone so the day may come when we refigure this bill. As it stands now it's ~$260 per month. Cell phones for three of us runs ~$170. Like Barbie, we don't have other consistent entertainment, so we can handle these charges. But I still think they're too high! We no longer subscribe to Sirius. I can't hear it and my husband is just as happy loading his phone with music he likes and connecting it to the car's bluetooth.
Scary Thursday ...My son has been having a major flare-up of migraines that are causing him to miss way too much work (like every other day). His employer is trying to accommodate him with intermittent, unpaid leave but there's a limit. On Thursday, my son developed another migraine, left work early, and decided to try a new abortive migraine medication. He did not understand the dosing recommendations and within a half hour became violently ill, experienced seizure-like convulsions, and began to lose pulse. Fortunately, he was at home when this occurred and my husband and I were able to call 911. Paramedics then took him to the ER by ambulance. He was able to come home late Thursday night from the ER and besides a little PTS, he is going to be ok. Now, however, he has a slew of testing ahead of him. A problem with his heart rate was discovered even after being stabilized. And because of the convulsions (which were most likely a result of the accidental overdose and not actual seizure activity), he is now on a 6 month driving restriction and requires additional testing and clearance by his neurologist before he can drive again. Interestingly, he hasn't had a migraine since taking the medication. Go figure.
House Siding Project ... all the materials for re-siding our house have arrived and my husband and I (mostly my husband) have started tearing off the old and prepping surfaces. This is going to be a long and laborious project. I see my part as keeping my husband hydrated and reminding him to use common sense.
I've been stress-eating again.

Lanette when I got on my bike I remembered the sweet things you said. Thank you!

Beth - So glad your son is OK! Hope losing the migraines was the silver lining of an incredibly dark cloud, and hope the heart thing is temporary too. So stinking scary. I'd be indulging in a little stress eating myself.
We don't have other forms of entertainment besides streaming shows and reading books, either. We haven't gone out to a restaurant in months, and have no real plans to, and haven't gone out to a movie in years. Unfortunately, our other entertainment was weekend drives, and those are not a good thing in this part of the country when bathrooms need to be very available for me still. Hopefully this too will pass.
Corey's having fun making "Millionaire Spaghetti," but I did convince him not to put a stick of butter in it, as the recipes call for. It's basically just lasagna using spaghetti noodles, except for the butter. He took over the crystallized ginger, too, which I was happy to let him do. I peeled it and sliced it first.
And, speaking of streaming, I've finished all but the last two Father Brown shows, which aren't available yet... and Lanette, you were right about the changes coming. Do enjoy that show. Not fond of Endeavor. I find it hard to stick with the darker ones, and haven't found one yet that adds humor and brightness like Father Brown and Sister Boniface. Still looking. At the moment, I'm watching a piece on Lord Lucan, interviewing his wife. Definitely NOT bright... but only one.
Later, y'all,

Beth-Very scary with your son. I hope they are able to find out something.
Allie-good news on x-ray. I know you will miss watching Miles but it sounds like your body has been telling you you need to rest for some time.

Beth, hugs for you and prayers for your son. How incredibly scary. Maybe this will be the turning point for a solution to the migraines.

My WordArt attempt-not really creative but was a bit fun to do. Had trouble uploading pic.

Good evening ladies!
Today I ate 1083 calories. Right on target, Yay! And I rode my bike for twenty five minutes, and did my dumbbells, Yay! My deficit is 488 Yay!
It was an excellent day. I tossed out all my old underwire bras. Yay!

Diana – welcome! Aren’t frozen grapes fantastic? I like the red ones
Rebecca – my waffle iron makes small waffles. I make like 6 at a time and just put them in the refrigerator. Try putting your waffle in the microwave for a little bit (maybe a minute on a lower power setting) and then in the toaster. I tried this last time and the center came out soft while the outside was crunchy, like when you first make them.
Allie – hope you’re better fast. You need to get better for your cruise! Update: glad the x-rays didn’t show anything bad
Beth – how scary that must have been to see! Glad your son is better now
Went in the pool then walked around the block. Had to leave for church so didn’t get to go back in the pool. Probably will be able to tomorrow. Vince is talking about cutting the grass Tues. since we have the Newcomer pool party Saturday. Update: I have an eye MD appt Tues. afternoon, so it may be Tues night or during the day Wed. since we have to go to the ceramics studio to pick up Vince's tree trunk. That's also the last day they will be open. I'll need to make the pie for the gal on Tuesday, probably before the eye MD or maybe at night, I don't know, whatever works into the schedule.
Anne – I HATE underwire bras. Hate with a capital “H”. I won’t buy one.

I've been thinking about stress lately. I've been under such a high level of stress for more than 5 years now that I'm not sure what a stress free life, or a life with significantly less stress would feel like anymore. Maybe this is normal!
But one conclusion I came to is that it does seem to help when I DO something about whatever is causing me stress. I can't do anything (or much of anything) about the main sources of stress. But other minor things cause me stress and I can do something about those.
So, a bit at a time, I'm tackling my minor stressors.
And even if I only accomplish a little bit, my current me thanks my past me for doing that little bit, and my future me will appreciate what I'm doing now.
And I make sure to include some of the usual list of things "they" suggest to help relieve stress in my day:
- exercise
- healthy diet
- sleep
- spending time outside
- playing with a pet
- hugs
- relaxing activities

Heather - it’s wonderful you and Johnny are able to help with the children and opening your home. That is huge to your son and DIL.
We help out as much as we can, but we can’t help financially very much. I do buy a dress or tshirt sometimes when I see something.
Our other daughter and husband had to explain who they had to for support before starting the IVF process. Our SIL told them we would help in anyway possible for physical help with the children and his mother would help financially if it was ever needed.
I personally thought it was a terrible thing they had to answer, parents that do it the “natural” way don’t have to have answer those questions.
Machka - our grandson needs a new bike, he is 11 and wants to ride a little in the summer with the neighbourhood kids. We can’t find one less than $300 for him. It’s awful the cost of them even for kids nowadays.
I bet your sleep has nothing to do with how tired you are. I have been finding the stress-less days has made me feel a bit more refreshed even on short sleeps. I hope you get some peace soon.
Kylia - I hope your hubby’s attitude changes. I don’t do well with poor attitudes. We eat out too often, that’s about to change now that we have a truck payment.
LeeAnn - I have suffered for 4 years with my hips. I’ve been to Physio, several times and nothing helped. I finally went to a massage therapist and it’s been wonderful. Turns out most of my issues were actually other muscles making my hips react.
Rebecca - I find I’m rarely having the tv on when I’m home alone. I would definitely be getting rid of a lot of stations if it was just me. The problem is the way they bundle the stations, you need so many bundles to see shows DH regularly watches. It’s a sneaky way to get people to pay for more.
Diana - Welcome
Beth -How scary! I hope they can get to the migraines sorted. Does this mean you or your DH will have to drive him to his job? Are these new since he started this job?
The Grands and I had a busy afternoon. We decided to go to some yard sales, one had games for Jonah’s console for $2.00. It was the first one we went to and they had an insulated pad thing for under the sleeping bag in tents. I looked at it and didn’t get it. We went to another couple yard sales and were heading home when I decided to go back and get it. I only have one spare bed, so when both kids are here one of them sleeps on blankets on the floor. This is going to make it much easier for me. Jonah graciously allowed Michaela to sleep on it first.
We then went to Walmart for a birthday present for a 1 year olds party tomorrow, we bought two outfits and a book. Everything was on sale so only, $22.00!
We came home, had supper then I took Michaela to the splash park for an hour. We got back then walked with Jonah to go for ice cream.
This is a series of pictures of Michaela her favourite thing at the splash park dumps a lot of water at once. I hope they go in the right order. In case they don’t, it should be the bucket, then the water, then her face immediately after having it dumped on her.

I'm sorry your son and you went through that.
The testing might be good ... might help find the cause of the migraines and determine if there are other issues.

Awake early again and downstairs.
It is gloomy and humid and waiting for rain. Weird light. So still out there, with just the sparrows chirping. We have a whole batch of baby ones, who are loving hopping about in our 'meadow'! Our shrubs, trees and long grass means we breed all kinds of birds here.
Slightly bothering myself with the plans for the day. We may have to forge through the rain to get Bea to her theatre show. Max will be with us. It runs over our usual lunchtime and that's not good for me and my hypoglycaemia, so I will have to think about a snack for us. Bea will have a packed snack, as she seems to have inherited my perpetual hunger! We have an hour to kill, so may be able to wander up to the coffee shop. We will be going by bus to the venue. I do not operate well when my blood sugar plunges, but I am trying to stick with lowish carb. I think cheese is coming to my rescue.
Will have to cook the kids some light lunch when we get back. We can have left-over frittata.
My son is just about to plunge into the sea at 6 am. Madness.
In the end I ordered my DSIL's scented candle from Amazon. Otherwise I would have to make a journey into town and it didn't seem worth the expenditure of time and effort to save £7.50. I was able to order her favourite scent she asked for. We are meeting up in London on Friday for a posh lunch as a celebration of her 70th back in June. DH is paying for her, as her present, but not for her boyfriend. I have got to cancel the extra place I reserved in case DH's daughter could join us, but she has to work. I love the restaurant, but not the tube (underground) in the summer. I hope we will be able to get away before the rush hour. It all seemed a good idea at the time I booked it!
The day before I have a social in a local park for MDMD. I do not like having a lot of commitments in my week. I like the simple life with lots of naps!
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Good morning all. Already done a short HIIT workout to get my minimum Zone minutes for the day. Holding steady with maintenance.
I have been concentrating on habit modification for a while now. This month I am focusing on improving my sleep habits. Going back to my old habits is not an option. I like the results of my new habits so much better. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks 😂 😂 😂
It’s been showery for several days, but much brighter today. We are joining family after lunch to celebrate DYGSs 20th birthday. It’s wonderful to have everyone back home for it.
Allie: Great news on the X-ray.
Heather: 😂 Our kids can be so transparent at times. It can be entertaining watching them trying to get to the point.
Beth: OMG! That must have been very stressful. I hope they can find out what is causing the migraines.
Lisa: 🥰 Father Brown & Sister Boniface. They hark back to a more leisurely way of life.
Tech: We have a bundle which includes a landline. Pay around £35 a month. DH negotiates when they try to increase the charge. Occasionally we change providers if they don’t play ball 😝 We use Freeview, which is more than adequate for our needs. Not into paying for extra channels. I use YouTube a lot, especially for exercise and craft tutorials. We have 2 smart TVs, one upstairs and one downstairs, so that I can access video when DH is watching a programme.
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 to all that want/need them.
Welcome to our newbies.

As I thought, DDIL brought Bea round earlier than my son estimated. But she did have the car, hooray, as he got a lift from a fellow participant. She looks great in her school 'uniform' for Matilda.
DDIL had left when I thought to check that she had a snack in her changing bag. NO BAG! I ran outside and the car was just leaving. Managed to wave and stop it and retrieve the bag. Phew! It has her drama shoes in it.
So, we are set to leave in just over 10 minutes to catch the bus. Not raining at the moment and I hope it holds off.

Terri-Enjoy celebrating your GS! It is great you can all be together for it.
Heather-good luck with all of the running about today.
Up early today (even for me) but decided tossing in bed doesn't do anything. Have gotten good set of stretches in and am having light breakfast before walk. Nephew is coming over this pm to pick up two bed platforms and foam mattresses I no longer need (especially when I move-won't have room). So, today begins officially removing larger things! He is, sadly, going through a divorce after many years and doesn't have much in the way of furniture so I will gladly pass on to him. My brother and SIL coming over with him-we will get pizza for an early dinner and visit.
Off to walk and get other stuff done. May or may not be a nap in my future-but I seldom take much of one once I am up.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio7 -
Storm coming in later than expected, but following yesterday's gentle soaking, should do some good in getting things watered. Yesterday was like being basted then roasted. Rain all morning, hot-hot all afternoon. This is a big one - My area is circled in red at top right - and my sister lives in southwest Oklahoma, just north of Wichita Falls at bottom left. We're about 300 miles apart, so there are seldom systems large enough to affect us both at the same time. As it's moving west to east, we'll be in it for most of the day. Good day to get laundry done.

A neighboring farm across the road treated us all to fireworks last night. DH & I enjoyed watching from my window. I hope we have a good day today.

The neighbor with the new garden asked if I could water for 10 days while they were gone on family business. I said no and told them about two reliable young people in the neighborhood they could hire. I got a thank you for the week I did for them. The other neighbor did give me a gift card. I am willing to do a few days ten is just too long especially since doing that other week for them. I figured it out if I had said yes it would have meant I added another watering chore to my chores for a total of 4 weeks when I am already watering my own two gardens. We are in the middle of a severe drought.6
