Barbie - Michele - one reason I got chickens is that I got tired of throwing away produce. The recycle crew either eat it or scratch it into nice bedding. Better than going in the garbage can. This afternoon they got a golden kiwi that had been hiding in the fridge. They ate it, skin and all.

Ginny - way to go with the walking. :D Seems it wasn't that long ago, after covid, it took you a while to get your energy back. Now look at you! :p

Ginny - Barbie - Pip - Heather - Machka and you other walkers out there - what kind of shoes are you wearing these days? I'm in a fairly new pair of New Balance with Powerstep insoles. My right foot has been bothering me - I think when I broke my baby toe a year ago I might have done a little other damage. I hadn't been wearing the Powerstep in my right shoe, but I'm going to. I put them in tonight.

I've been using the Bob & Brad resistance bands to do some upper body work - rowing, back exercises. What I like about them is that I'm also working my core - as I lean in (or out) more of my body is engaged than if I was just using free weights. They have some good demo videos. I still like free weight for bicep curls. And using ankle weights for legs. I might change as I become more familiar with the bands.

Pip - this one's for you.

HOKA trail running shoes. Love them. Wish I could wear them all the time.

My next favourite footwear are my boots. I wear them at least half the year. I have a pair on today.

BETH ~ Thinking of you as the news reported heavy flooding in NY. Hope you and your family are safe.

LANETTE ~ Your exercise with bands sounds great. My core is where I need to do the most work. I tried doing chair sitting exercises on Youtube last week that are supposed to trim the core and those seem to be what messed up my ankles.

I so admire all of you who take long walks and exercise!

I like SAS shoes for walking and have been very happy with them. They’re sturdy and comfortable, & last a long time. SAS=SanAtonio Shoes. Mine are black. They aren’t stylish but they’re great for walking.

Today’s gratitude (7/7): Joe came through colonscopy ok. 1 polyp to lab, better than previous 5. Joe said “all those vegetables you prepare for me must be helping.”
    Welcome @majork29 Kira from AB!
Belated best birthday wishes to you Beth.
Vicki ((hugs)) and strength to you. How old are the grands?
Tracey thanks for the Bangor Main FB hint. Loved the post and followed to read more. Reminds me of “Tales of the Rural Patrol” in the Illinois Valley News.
Barbie et al “..grateful for unknown blessings already on their way” Grateful for this and you too!
Flea and Heather thanks for sharing your travels.
Machka those spicy sweet teas look yummy, especially the chili and chocolate. Is it the rooibos that makes it taste sweet without sugar/honey/stevia etc?
Allie not just Carmine but Myles is learning from Kyle. While I believe most of us are just doing the best we can, I honestly think Kyle needs some anger management tools to help him and everyone in the family. Ah, but how to give them…
Annie Thanks for your concern. Not going to submit an insurance claim for the mirror, (~$650, more if we replace the window) as I had a fender bender Dec 2020 and fear our rates would go way way up.
Lilsa aww shucks. Thanks for the WalMart tip about the black tea version of the sweet and spicy tea. Will keep my eye out, but for now, blood pressure is less the mornings I drink herbal instead of my usual Lemon Lift black tea… Have fond memories of the WABAC machine and Mr. Peabody. Like in your house, no book was off limits. By the time I was ten I’d read Exodus, but had to ask Mama about some hard words… ;} Hope today’s cardiologist appointment goes well and the dizziness eases.
Kylia sounds like BP and cholesterol are heading in the right direction. Glad you got an rX for the UTI.
Heather  “yellow funnel” best yet! 63 pounds for a paintbrush? :astonished:

Only to pg 20 but 30 min timer just bonged.

    Hello ladies!

I just read a bit about Diana Nyad, who swam from Cuba to Florida, 110 miles, at the age of 64. Now she is 73, and she does a thousand burpees every day, without the pushup. Wow. It is just amazing what is humanly possible.

    1. Take a small step to help overcome a problem or worry. I am working on helping my son through this tough time by being in contact with his case worker and tracking his location.
    2. Adopt a growth mindset. Change “I can’t” into “I can’t…yet”. I try to never use those words. I follow Yoda’s ‘Do or not, there is no try”
    3. Be willing to ask for help when you need it. I will. My back hurts today so will easily ask for help when I need it.
    4. Find something to look forward to today. Missed posting this yesterday. So today I am looking forward to my therapy session.
    5. Get the basics right: eat well, exercise and go to bed on time. Will do!
    6. Pause, breathe, and feel your feet firmly on the ground. Will meditate today to help me do this.
    7. Shift your mood by doing something you really enjoy. I really need to do this today. Did not do this. Had a bad day all around yesterday.
    8. Avoid saying “must” or “should” to yourself today. I will try.
    9. Put a problem in perspective by seeing the bigger picture. Trying to see my son’s decisions through his eyes.
    10. Reach out to someone you trust and share your feelings with them.
    11. Look for something positive in a difficult situation.
    12. Write you worries down and save them for a specific “worry time”.
    13. Challenge negative thoughts. Find an alternative interpretation.
    14. Get outside and move to help clear your head.
    15. Set yourself an achievable goal and take the first step.
    16. Find fun ways to distract yourself from unhelpful thoughts.
    17. Use one of your strengths to overcome a challenge today.
    18. Let go of the small stuff and focus on the things that matter.
    19. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
    20. When things go wrong, pause and be kind to yourself.
    21. Identify what helped you get through a tough time in your life.
    22. Find 3 things you feel hopeful about and write them down.
    23. Remember that all feelings and situations pass in time.
    24. Choose to see something good about what has gone wrong.
    25. Notice when you are being judge mental and be kind instead.
    26. Catch yourself over-reacting and take a deep breath.
    27. Write down 3 things you are grateful for (even if today was hard).
    28. Think about what you can learn about a recent problem.
    29. Be a realistic optimist. Focus on what could go right.,
    30. Reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague for support.
    31. Remember we all struggle at times. It’s part of being human.

Well, it cleared up and was sunny so I went in the pool, then power washed the patio under our deck. I didn’t do a great job, that’s for sure. I needed to get dinner ready. But at least it’s SOMEWHAT clean. I think I’ll take a walk down to Food Lion and the dollar store after dinner.

Monday here: just work then went to pick up a prescription for Loki and then the Salvation Army. Stopped at WalMart for sour cream

I guess my schedule is to go to Aldi on Wednesday in the morning since I don’t work on Wednesday and it’s so much nicer to go early in the day when there aren’t as many people there. Then, on Sun. morning I usually go to WalMart since there’s very few people in the store on Sun. morning, they’re all mostly at church (remember, I’m in the “bible belt”, but I usually go to church on Sat). I like to get out of the freezer the next weeks' meals on Tuesday so I know if there’s something I need to buy Wed. I usually do a body pump DVD on Wed. morning (before Aldi opens). That seems to be a good day/time to go to the gym. Then since I don’t work on Sundays I do a DVD since the gym opens so late (again, because of being in the "bible belt"). I also try to go for a walk every day. Not sure that I’ll get it in today since we need to go to ceramics so I can get my gecko and Vince can take his tree stump in to be fired so he can get it Wednesday night (last time they’re open)

When I stopped at the soup kitchen the other day to take the bags and empty egg cartons, the gal told me that she’d probably need me to come back at the end of July, but she’d text me first

    Morning ladies
Didn't have to set an alarm ,poor Miles screamed and cried when dropped off..but Josie called Tracy to let her know he had calmed down and was playing with the other little boy there..I think it will be more hard on Tracy than Miles
We are getting nasty rainy weather today. So im staying in.
Still have the creepin crud but taking the meds perscribed

It is always harder on the mom than the kids.
He settled in a lot quicker than some of the kids I have had.

Vicki sorry you fell! Hope your leg is better soon.

I borrowed a big truck once, and I still remember climbing up into that thing. Way too big for my short legs!

I've got a revised schedule on my phone. So far it's helping me remember what I want to get done. Next up is the bike at 3:30. I have a slot for meditation earlier.

My mom refused to schedule a trip to the dentist. I need her to get her dental insurance card out of her purse. She has a loose tooth which is going to get worse without treatment. Oh well if I nag her about it, she may give in.
