We don't have an air fryer but I hear they're fabulous. I figure I have lasted 39 years without one, I can last the rest of my life without one. There's something just weird that it cooks so fast!😂. If my husband got takeout when I was cooking a meal for him, I would have words with the man. I think he likes planning his meals, and knowing what's ahead. He even takes stuff out of the freezer, and boxes of things I am using to prep dinner, he'll set on the counter. Subtle as a brick.🙃😂

we all LOVE our air fryer- have worn out and upgraded at least 3 times. At first I didn't think I would use it-sat in the box for months(pressure cooker was a Christmas gift at the same time and it sat in the box a year, Love that thing now too). Once we started using it, it was and still is, used daily. Cook, reheat, finish off. We started with the basket one. I tell people if you aren't sure if you will really use it or just one person, get the basket type because the price is a lot lower. Around Black Friday, they run about $20~. We use ours all the time and cook larger portions so the larger one with the two trays works best for us.
DH likes it so much that the year after we got ours, everyone got them for Christmas. Back then they were $40 so the price has really come down.

I have talked to him about eating out or at his mom's when he knows I am cooking- that used to make him mad. Now he just says he will eat some later. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. He rarely eats left overs. Even rarer that he eats a meal with me when we are at home. Only time we eat together is if we are out.

When I got to the gym, I found that my headphones were dead. Well, I don’t think they were really dead, just that no sound was coming out of them. So I charged them up, and still no sound. Then they broke again so I ordered another pair from Amazon. They should be delivered tomorrow. So I did a 20-40-60 workout instead

Speaking of scams: I just got an email confirming my order of bitcoins. Never did I order them. I’m supposed to call this certain phone number. Do they really think I’m going to call? The caller “Spam Risk” must really like us, we get so many calls from him/her/it...lol

Rebecca – there is this one farmer around here who has fantastic corn on the cob. I always buy at least 2 bags from him. This year the corn wasn’t as sweet and that’s probably because I couldn’t make it until the next day. I usually cook it the day I get it so that the sugars don’t have time to turn to starch

Barbara – I am on the local NextDoor site. Lately, there hasn’t been much interest because it seems that the posts are about looking for money, advertising their business, talking about how down and out someone is, that sort of thing. I’ve noticed that if someone posts something like “anyone know what is going into ….. store?” there lately isn’t any response.

After exercise came home then went to Aldi, home to put things away then the dentist. Afterwards, went to Hamricks to get Lynette some pants and a top and a jacket/sweater for her Christmas/birthday presents. Will probably also get her a gift card. Just not sure where to yet. I tell ya, it’s hard to find 3X clothing. I’m not sure the pants will fit her. Not sure why Vince doesn’t want to got to the landfill today. Since it looks like it’s about to drizzle, we aren’t going to do anything outside. Hopefully, tomorrow we will be able to. Why put this off?

Lisa – good for you getting back to your exercise even after the phone call

Detergent: We use liquid detergent mainly because that seems to be the only way I can find HE detergents.

Air Fryer: I would like to get Jess for Christmas one of those air fryer lids for her IP. Admitted, you can’t make a lot. However, I love mine because it makes just enough for Vince and myself. So I’m thinking that it’ll make enough for her and Colby. One of the things I like about mine is that it comes with this round thing that you can put the lid on after you use it so that it doesn’t burn whatever you put it on. I have to read and be sure that the one I get has this.

Cut the weeds the other day. Since Vince doesn’t want to go to the landfill, maybe I’ll take a walk around the neighborhood

French Circle was great. I find that, if you go on your own, more people talk to you.
The subject was 'La Vendage', the grape harvest for wine. We had bottles of wine to sample from the different wine regions, and nibbles, including a divine chocolate cake! One of the women I talked to was a young Muslim. Of course, she couldn't drink the wine, but there was grape juice. She had just come back from Seville, and is a vegetarian, so that was a problem too. Spain is not the best choice for a vegetarian! But she loved the history there. I also chatted to a couple of other women about holidays. My French gets worse after a couple of glasses! :o

Came back and watched a programme about tracing people through DNA. Previously, DH would not watch it with me, but this time he did. I think it was a bit of an education for him as he seemed to have no idea of the procedure for DNA matching. I have often prompted him to try it, but he is resistant. He has no idea who his father is. He kept asking me how they got access to other people's DNA, though I know I have explained the data base to him several times.
Oh well. Personally, I would not be able to rest until I knew. I would try to get onto the TV programme.
Maybe his daughters would be interested?

Tomorrow I have a group Zoom meeting in the evening with the head of the Palliative Care system in Canada. It is about their Assisted Dying reforms and how it relates to Palliative Care.

Interesting article on switching to part time work over 50. Of course, in the UK we don't have to worry about medical insurance.

Rebecca - I dod watch some of that show, it took me a few minutes to remember the name. It’s called Still Standing. It’s coming back for Season 9 next month.

All of the pictures are wonderful.

I started working on a stocking this week. It’s for my daughter’s best friends husband. Her BF, is the one who told me this summer that she didn’t wasn’t to assume anything, but she only bought a cheap “Baby’s First Christmas” stocking last year in the hopes I would make a set for them this year. No pressure, of course, and don’t feel obligated. 😂

He is a captain in their community’s volunteer fire department and works as a fire fighter at a private industry here and also just earned his ACP.

Your comments makes me want to get one just to experiment.👍🏼 Your husband doesn't eat leftovers??? Awe, that's no good. Pretty much every dinner here becomes a lunch for husband the next day. He used to not eat leftovers, but when we lived at the coast in Oregon, living off food banks etc, you learn to like it I suppose. I am queen of leftovers as I habe been known to use leftover mac & cheese in soups. The cheese comes off the noodles and makes the soup cheesy delightful. Poor husband shakes his head at me.😂

My eldest sister has a neighbor that calls her most every evening asking if she wanted corn for our dinner (when I was visiting in June). It was wonderful!

I'm resisting an air fryer, for reasons of space mainly. I do have a double oven, and often use the small one, which is also a grill. If I didn't have that, I might buy one. We don't use a lot of electricity, compared to gas, so cost isn't an issue. I cook a lot in the IP and wouldn't be without it. We use the microwave for heating things up.

Tonight is salmon fillets and the Masala Peas I mentioned the other day. Probably broccoli as well. Veggie mad in this house. :p

As I'm socialising both Saturday and Sunday, I didn't feel like going out for my birthday on Monday. DH is going to cook one of his signature dishes! :D I chose Moussaka. Love it! The recipe allows for substantial leftovers, so Tuesday, after Bea, is also catered for. We bake the aubergine slices, rather than fry them.

    Good morning, all.

Storm Agnes roared through yesterday, so the garden look’s a little bedraggled. It is totally still this morning.

Tracey: The wheels of bureaucracy grind exceedingly slow. Glad you got it sorted out.

Heather: I always found that my French improved after a few glasses of wine. 😂 We got an air fryer , but don’t use it much yet.

We have our monthly meeting this afternoon. Not sure who the speaker is.

This morning, I plan to sort out the rents for my groups, and do my Latin translation for tomorrow. I may start sorting out my winter clothes to swap into my working wardrobe now that the weather is cooling.

    Cheers

Another big wind is supposed to blow through again tonight. I wonder where the greenhouse will be in the morning.

No Air Fryer or IP here. We hardly do any cooking ... it's usually just heating and assembling a little bit of food. And sometimes not even heating.

End of another work week for me. I wanted to be a little further along with what I am working on. Another hour or two and I think I would be at the finessing stage. But after 6 pm, buses are much harder to find.

Today’s gratitude: yesterday’s chair yoga made my legs feel and work so much better. Blue skies and fresh air after the rain. TW’s surgery scheduled for 10/3. Ru’ and family move into subsidized apartment 10/3. Joe walked Shadow to the mailbox this morning.
Looks like Thursday will be a perfect day to play in the dirt. Rain softened ground should make it easier to pull up the mint and weeds that overtook the flower bed.
Heather thanks for the Angelou quote. Truth this. I’d think your French would improve with wine ;)
Lisa I love reading about your days, even when Corey’s sick. I feel like we are sitting together in the early morning hours, drinking coffee and watching the day begin through your windows.
Barbie “It is a giant challenge to balance cost, convenience, health, environmental concerns, and personal cleanliness standards to make the right choice.” It is indeed, but prioritizing based on your values, how mindful of you both! ;)
Rita that ALANON quote about personal freedom really resonated. Thanks!
    Lanette, imho what we need is a real way to really recycle the plastic that’s already out there, not just ship it off somewhere and dump it. Seems to me the engineer boffins could figure out ways. Since they haven’t my paranoia kicks in and tells me there’s $$ in polluting. ;{
Rebecca neither have we an air fryer. Been told the convection setting on my oven works the same way but haven’t tried it.
Pip  you’re rarely sick. Take care of yourself ((hugs)).
    Debbie one of the things I’ve had to accept about Joe is that we have incompatible expectations for dining out. I want leisurely, special meals, conversation, a social time. Joe wants to get it in and get out as quickly as he can. As for leftovers, Joe will sometimes eat them the next day but if there’s more I freeze it for me. ;}
Vicki ((hugs)) and hopes for some resolution at today’s appointment.
    Michele what is “HE detergent”?
Tracey yours to Heather about your cousin’s husband and his biosister. I was lucky that my two half sisters from biomom were welcoming and sweet. Have never approached the three from biodad as I suspect their reaction would be “oh gawd, here comes another one sniffing after our $$” “mechanic kept it for 3 days and of course it didn’t hesitate for him.” Isn’t that always the way?
Teri “sort out the rents for my groups” ? I understand the individual words but not the phrase.
Machka that is a big greenhouse to be windborne.
    09/27: Move: 2 sets PT w/D, line dance class. Steps:8290 ;)
    Fuel: sugar in vs mfp=28 CI<CO net=389
Live: Joe, readings, BP, AD, ptT. ptS, visit DS, Post Office, Freddie’s, ‘nother load laundry. Wt:133.2

    Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD x8zcp1ya37k1.gif
September: Move more, fuel better (less sugar), live mindfully with people, dogs, open heart and mind before mouth. Never miss an opportunity to keep the mouth shut!
    2023: Be of good cheer.
