I'm finishing things these days!
Today I finished writing Version 1 of an instruction manual at work. I know it's only Version 1 and that there will likely be several more versions before it's complete, if it ever is! But Version 1 is a great start.
Last night, I finished reading a book.
Today, I finish a Sudoku I've been working on.
Tomorrow, I will like finish a picture I've been colouring.
I've pretty much finished the first round of weeding.
I'm almost finished backing up my computer.
We're getting close to finishing the honey harvest.
It's good.

Sipping my coffee this morning, just happy! Yesterday youngest called and we chatted a good 2 hours/20 min (I looked at the Messenger video chat). He's looking well, except he's dealing with a wound/rash on his legs from the climate and or his heavy uniform. The fact that his job is sitting looking at screens for 12 hours probably doesn't help. He is on antibiotics, and has an ointment to apply so hopefully that will do the job. Poor kid. We get along so well, we always have. Just blessed to be back at it. Yesterday, I told him that our family does best by just checking in every so often. Especially on days when we need each other. Sharing our troubles can help ease them, and so I told him to always know we're there for him. No judgement ever. He is such a great kid, and I have missed his witty banter! The fact that's he's a sailor, no smoking or drinking is a relief too.
Everyone have a great Tuesday! Today is bbq pork fried rice for husband. I think I will make a bowl of ramen.👍🏼💖

Regarding make-up in this part of the world ...
It seems to be that those under 20 and those over 70 wear the most make-up. It kind of eases off after 20 and builds up toward 70.
In between those ages, women tend not to wear make-up or just a touch of foundation. And maybe a hint of mascara to dress up.
I would feel very self conscious if I wore more than foundation.
And people rarely wear perfume either. Thank goodness! It sets off my allergies.
M in Oz
I was never big on makeup. I went through fits of wearing the foundation and everything else, but found that any mascara, even the hypoallergenic, would trigger eye allergies. I would start all gung-ho with makeup then by a month I stop. The only thing I like using is face cream because it is so dry here and really dries out my skin. I can feel when I need to start the face cream again! I usually use Oil of Olay face and neck serum, and Oil of Olay daytime face cream, the one for ‘mature’ skin. But generally, I don’t use anything until I feel my face getting dry.
I have noticed that here in New Mexico, and when I was living in Cookeville, TN, I didn’t notice very many people with perfume or any scent on. But when I lived in CT, it was everywhere! I’m glad about the lack though. Like Machka perfume really bothers me. Actually any strong scent sets my nose to congestion and my eyes to blurry and runny. Of course, among my campers that visit, very little or no perfume or makeup, unless they are of the ‘snobby’ sort with the biggest camper you can buy and pretend to be better than every one else. Don’t get too many of those, but did get one last week that had a million dollar fifth wheel towing a brand new jeep. He was mad because he put 2 cars on the reservation so was changed for 2 cars. It was all of $30, and he wanted me to refund it!👽🤑 LOL. I can’t do that of course and we do not give refunds so told hem to call the reservation site. Of course they won’t do it either. LOL All I could think of is the they are on the verge of bankruptcy with that car and camper so need every penny they can get! I find it funny and don’t give in to them. Now, if there are obviously not rich or snobby, I will do what I can to upgrade them if they make a mistake on reservations.
So the moral is: Be nice to me and I’ll be nice to you! Treat people how you want to be treated!

Awe, we used to see those rich million dollar campsites at our clothing optional resort as well. There was a cement slab area for the pull thru's and then lots of grassy areas to hook up or dry camp. Many times when we used to have our pop up tent rig, it would be right next to a huge rig. Once we were next to a rig that pretty much had its generator on the whole time. The fumes were going right into our area! It was awful! The only reason he had it running was to get internt! It wasn't for heat or anything! Lee had a nice chat with him saying his exhaust was exiting into our campsite and our kids were getting headaches! He finally turned it off. We stayed away until it cleared. He really was in an area that was too small for him. I think it was a holiday weekend so the place was crowded.🙄😒

I am on a roll! I've also booked my one night for the 'girls' meet up in November. The others are doing 2 nights at least, but I can only manage one, because of expense and my limits of toleration of P. Plus I have done a lot of the expensive planned activities. It is fully refundable if the others have changed their minds about coming. I don't pay anything until the day.
At my son's house with Bea. My son went off to London with the car keys in his pocket so DDIL had to get a taxi for Edie's cello lesson. My bus ride went well, except I got out a stop too early, so was two minutes late, but DH was there at the school. I will do that again. My thigh lasted the trek from the school to their house.

Some of you might remember Lenora from several years ago. We became email buddies because I went through school (grades 1-12) with her sister. She sent me this to from Southern Living about Southern witticisms and I will put it in a spoiler in case some of you might be offended. Warning...it's a long post. Here are some thinly veiled Southern Insults that appeared in Southern Living:
Who among us could begin to name everything the South has produced: blues and jazz, the funeral procession pull-over, Elvis, Dolly, gas station fried chicken … and passive-aggressive insults, otherwise known as backhanded compliments. We didn't adopt this behavior intentionally or even consciously. It's just that we have an aversion to aggression in everyday discourse. (In a football stadium, we have no problem with it whatsoever.)
Hence the proliferation of "bless your heart," which isn't always sarcastic or insincere. Sometimes we're conveying genuine empathy/sympathy. But we also use it to cushion unpleasant observations: "Maybe cooking just isn't your special gift, bless your heart." (Translation: "I don't think my bird dog would eat your casserole.")
We polled our audience and asked them to name some of the thinly veiled negative observations (read: Southern insults) that Mama'n'em have been known to utter. Here are some of the weird insults you'll only find around these parts—tell us what we missed:
Keeping Up Appearances
Maybe she just doesn't realize a Medicaid card and a miniskirt don't belong on the same woman.
What a cute haircut! It looks SO much better.
Isn't it just like you to wear a dress like that!
Is that what they're wearing now?
I'll bet you've got such a handsome face underneath that beard.
Honey, I just hope you don't catch pneumonia in those shorts. They sure look . . . breezy.
They're just plain people, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I don't care what anybody says. I think she's pretty . . . in her own way.
Look what she likes. Not The Sharpest In The Bunch
Honey, it's not your fault. You just didn't know any better.
I don't care if it WAS 40 years ago when she won the high school spelling bee—not everybody can spell "hippopotamus," and that's at least something she can hang onto.
That apple didn't fall far from the tree, did it, y'all?
Most people in town think he's really smart . . .
Her biscuit's not done in the middle, but we can overlook that.
His elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor, if you know what I mean, but we just love him to death.
Marching To A Different Beat
He is who he is, God love him.
She's not the sweetest cookie in the batch, but we wouldn't trade her for the world.
He's a little rough around the edges, but he's got the best personality.
He means well . . . God love him.
It's not their fault they weren't raised right.
It's really not her fault she turned out that way.
That one right there has always been a little different.
He's not like the rest of the family, is he?
You march to your own drummer, don't you, sweetheart? Good for you.
You're not married? Nothing wrong with that, honey. You're a career lady.7 -
Good morning, ladies.
RvRita, congrats on the 51 days sober!
Beautiful day today. Cool but sunny. Love all the seasons but especially fall with all the changing colors. My least favorite season would probably be winter (although I still enjoy it). I don't like the long dark days though.
Put on another tomato sauce in my slow cooker and will have it cooking down all day. One more batch and I think I will be done. Will tackle that in the next few days.

My son took us home after dropping Edie off at football. Bea has now opted out of football.

Rita - Well done on the 51 days alcohol-free! Wonderful NSV.
Heather - Absolutely love Frida the Cat, what an amazing sense of humor that girl has...
Carol - Thank you for sharing those! Laughed all the way through them, and have heard quite a few of them in action. Sounds like Lenora's still ticking right along, glad to hear it! I know she had a lot of health issues.
And, speaking of health issues, I just heard from my son this morning that he and my daughter's bio-mom died sometime during the night. No word on the cause. Talked to my daughter, too, and she's OK, just grieving over her grandmother and her two uncles' pain and loss more so, I think. Kels loves that part of her family dearly. She had recently been in touch with the bio-mom, as had John, and they did try to keep the lines of communication open where they could. Between the drug addiction, alcoholism, and mental issues, there wasn't much left of the mom they grew up with, I'm afraid.
Ah well... all I can do is be a listening ear for them, but they know that anyway. Back to my doings...
Love y'all,
Later,

Ladies! You have been busy! I feel like I'm behind 5 pages and I've read your wonderful posts - want to make comments and send hugs to everyone! Maybe things will quiet down for me later in the day.

I actually like it when my face feels dry. I've always had oily skin. Sometimes I'll even wash my face, or swab my face with an alcohol wipe 2 or 3 times a day just to dry things off.
That said, it's not overly dry here ... I may feel differently in your climate.
Like you, I seem to have developed an allergy to eye makeup. I'm an 80s girl so I used to wear the thick blue shadow and all, but can't do that now.
There is a push here to not use perfume. They don't ban it, but they discourage it on public transportation and at work where it might affect other people.
There's even a trend encouraging women to let their hair go natural and show their greys. I've thought about it, but I'm just not ready. Some ladies I know have done it and they look all right. One in particular looks really good, but her natural grey is quite silvery and she's pretty much completely silver grey so it's quite striking.

Good evening,
It has been a strange and eventful day here. We got the new split system installed today. 😎 it is really cool in the bedroom now so DH happy. My friend/neighbor Cindy came over and weeded my flower beds. She was bored-lol! At least she kept DH occupied and out of installers way. My beds look great. They weren't horrible but needed attention. At work the energy was lacking.....not just mine but everyone's. Was so so busy but not horrid. I left to come bring DH back to shop and they had one customer the hour I was gone. I get back and SIL leaves for the day. 30 mins later the mechanic who can help me up front leaves for a doctor's appt. I had things to do but was kind of yuck, so started to pull up this thread to read.....well....a lady came in wanting a snowblower. DH didn't go out to help her so I did. Wouldn't you know that we got 5 more customers and 3 phone calls while I was trying to sell her the blower. I am so glad she was patient. DH was not. He gets easily frustrated as he can't look things up to answer questions or parts or pricing. I guess he should have waited on the lady. I got everyone taken care of if not in a timely manner, and sold the snowblower! I was so happy to see 530 on the clock.
Went to get in my hot tub this morning, nope.....water had green tint again. Not moldy on the tub, but the water was green. Tonight it got drained, wiped down, refilled, new filters, and chemicals. It is currently running to allow the chemicals to work. I should be able to get in it tomorrow. DH will be happy. I got in it regularly for several years. When the room addition got put on and the hot tub moved, my frequency declined. Out of sight? Then depression...then a leak (which we fixed)....still just struggle to get my bum in it. I was always in one on vacations which is one reason DH bought me one. The othercreason was to help with migraines and muscle aches. It isn't hard to get in it, but for some reason I have a mental block. As he said, I can sit in the hottub and play on my tablet or phone just as easily as sitting in bed.
So for optimistic October day 3. My small step towards a goal was cleaning and prepping hot tub for use.
Eating was better today. One serving of Kodiak oatmeal and a banana for breakfast. Homemade salsa and thin tortilla chips around 10 am. A salad with romaine, cabbage, spinach, tomatoes, black beans and chicken for lunch around 1230. A tomato sandwich at 4. And the 1/2 of a burger and fries for dinner. I am stuffed. Funny thing is I felt good all day until burger and now feel bloated. I really need to remember this feeling the next time I want to get a burger.....
Machka, Lisa, and Heather- Great jobs on getting things done!
Rita and Rebecca Congratulations on both of your accomplishments. They both require a lot of work.
I have now delayed working at home for two nights and am behind again. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.
Much love and gratitude,

Hi Ladies. Finally have caught up on reading about everyone's busy lives.
Heather: Belated best wishes. You look radiant in the photo with the bride. May your trip to France be smooth and amazing. Can I buy the Frida Cat picture???? Just love it.
Barbara: Happy anniversary to you and Joe. Here is to many more years together enjoying each other. 🥰
Rita: Proud of you!
Annie: You are in my thoughts daily. Sending you giant waves of patience and energy.
Rebecca: Oh that Athena is growing up so fast!
I am so jealous of you who are gifted crafters like Kim, Tracey, and Lisa. I have been doing embroidery kits on and off, but just can't get excited about the project I have in progress now. However, when it comes to home decorating, I do get very engrossed. I put this together yesterday.
Thursday I have a friend coming in from Los Angeles for 3 nights. The last time I saw her was when she travelled to attend my 50th birthday party in Honolulu, 17 years ago. She and I were very close in high school, fell into a distant friendship for years, and now recently have begun to be more present for each other. While here, we will go see the symphony with Stewart Copeland (drummer for The Police) and Steely Dan + The Eagles Farewell concert. Also hope to get up into the mountains for some leaf peeping. I love having company because it gives me a great excuse to spit polish my home and make it all sparkling and bright.
Not sure if I shared it here, but I have been going to StretchLab once a week for 25 minutes of assisted stretching every week. What a difference it has made in my lower back pain. It is pretty much gone, unless I stop the stretching and it comes back with a vengeance. I am hooked now. One goal I have to age gracefully and keep up good posture and balance.
Job is going good. With the change of seasons, I'm choosing to work indoor events only. So, have myself scheduled for hockey, basketball, theatre, ballet and concerts by Depeche Mode, Guns N Roses, and P!nk. Grateful everyday to have stumbled into the best retirement job ever.
Stay well friends. We can do this!

A dog question ...
Once again, we're in a situation where our neighbours have a barking dog.
In the evenings, when we are in our patio area, the dog barks loudly and long. It can see us in our patio area, and it seems that as long as it can see us, it barks.
I've tried talking to the dog, but it just keeps barking. I've tried yelling at the dog, but it just keeps barking.
The people get home from work, and let it out on their back deck ... and don't seem at all bothered by the barking.
At some point, we may have to talk to them and/or report it, but meanwhile, I'm wondering ...
If we were to put something solid up between it and us, so it can't see us in our patio area, might it stop barking?
Or would it still hear and smell us ... and bark??

Forgot to say earlier, very well done, Rita!
Awake very early after a vivid, not very nice dream. Feeling very stiff. My mat work has been intermittent for the last few days, with too much wedding, and travel admin to get done. I did it on Monday, but not yesterday or Sunday. Feeling it.
Rori - Glad life is still offering new opportunities. That's the secret, I think.
Might try to get back to sleep now. Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -
It has been a long day and I really should be in bed(10PM here)- insomnia bad last night. I got a whole
4 1/2 hrs of sleep total last night.
Spent most of the day shopping for mother in law. We did stop for taco Tuesday.
Walked her dog before we went shopping- only 30 min but up and down some pretty steep hills so more of a workout than the hour at the wetlands.
I will catch up on the posts tomorrow.

A couple of amusing Bea things.....
On the way home from school, she went into a long explanation to DH about how she feels she is related to him, even though she isn't. How much she loves him, and how she doesn't feel the same about my ex's wife, because when they go to see them, 'she's always working'. But how much she feels close to him.
Aaahhh!
While my son was driving us home, after dropping Edie off at football, he was describing why Bea has given up football. Apparently, the last time she went, she spent all her time chatting, picking flowers and showing them to the others, and putting her hand through her shorts to be a three legged person. They kept explaining that they were meant to be playing football! The parents kindly suggested that she might not be that keen, and she decided to give it up. They have so many other activities.
That girl is truly a law unto herself.
In what used to be the playroom and is now 'the cozy room', they have now the most enormous sofa I have ever seen and a loveseat. You could sleep all of them on the sofa! My picture is in there and a perfect match for the decor, plaster pink and turquoise/jade.
I just wish they could keep the kitchen tidy. To have spent all that money and it just to be messy, seems such a waste. I'm not sure the floor is the right colour, it's a bit cold looking. The hall and stairs are now painted, and Edie's bedroom has been tidied . Now Bea is in her own room it's easier. DDIL can't wait to get a cleaner in, but it's not worth it yet.
Luch today at the fish restaurant. My friend B is bringing her friend she is staying with, and DH is coming as well. I will take the bus and he will walk. I want to look in M&S for trousers, as I still have my £25 token from Saga.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx2
