It was chilly this morning at 43°F. That's a little cooler than I usually like it, but it wasn't windy or wet, so it wasn't too bad. I wore shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves and gloves. I was chilly starting out, but dressed comfortably for the run. It was actually a really pretty morning. I ran 7 miles and I felt like I could run all day. It was dark when I left the house, but the sky was getting light as I headed back home. I saw 8 deer by the park. It was so cool. There were two adults and 3 younger deer on one side of the road, and 3 adults on the other side. Most of them stopped and watched me as I ran past them. I would have taken a picture, but the pictures never turn out that good and I was afraid if I stopped to get my phone out they would run off.
I love your sunrise and sunset pictures @AlphaHowls!
@mnsmov15 I hope you enjoyed Diwali!
@kgirlhart Thank you, I enjoyed Diwali parties and sweets immensely
It helps me a bit when it is cooler, I am okay till it is in 50s (F). Glad you had a good run!2 -
Morning everyone.
Ended up at my Mum's last night (long story - have a funeral to go to later this afternoon, but was originally gonna from London, but now going with Mum and her neighbour - so spent the night here.... Aaaannddd of course, ate all sorts of cr-p! 🙈).
So- Got in a 12K (at 09"46).
@Zakkery86 whereabouts in England? I'm SE London!
Been here on this forum for about 14M now... @SummerSkier still hazes me like I'm the new guy! lol
@mnsmov15 hope you had a nice Diwali last weekend! where are you from?8 -

Got a run in yesterday evening and it felt great. We tried out Dakota's new led lead and it worked perfect. I had tried a collar but his furry coat completely covered it, and I don't like running with a light on except when a car is coming because it sort of blinds me to the moonlight. My road isn't that busy and everyone knows I run with a dog so the led lead will let them know where he is standing. We are careful and always stop and stand in anyway. I'm over the worst of my busy work time now and glad it's almost the weekend.
@Teresa502 - that's really annoying about ur Strava. Something similar happened my brother a few years ago. He was competing in a lot of bike road races and doing really good but this competitors were keeping tabs on his training on Strava so he stopped using it too.5 -

@tarun_yadavA Yes, it was a blast! I am originally from Bangalore, India, living in the US now. How about you?4 -
@tarun_yadavA 14 months?!!!!! seems like forever. 🤣😳😂🙃🤪
@kgirlhart @quilteryoyo hard to believe we have made it so far on RTY. Congrats on meeting your year end goal. I count ever step too altho manually in excel I only count deliberate walks and runs because I still want to make it that way as well. RTY gave me 3000 total miles this week also.
I am at 91 out of 100 for the month. Yesterday I went out and it was REALLY FOGGY. I regretted not putting my lights on and probably should have gone back for them but I was already out the door and down the road when that thought came.

Lovely weather this morning. Low 50’s. Still humid but that’s almost always the case. I’ll take cool and humid over hot and humid any day. My legs are just tired! I had a rest day yesterday and still so heavy this morning. Idk, maybe I need to eat more? Hydrate better? Sleep even more? Roll the clock back several years maybe?
My kid and I are going camping over a long weekend. I have some runs scheduled but maybe the more generally relaxing that happens while camping will help me out.8 -

It was perfect running weather for me this morning at 58°F. I didn't need sleeves or gloves, just shorts and a t-shirt. I ran 3.5 miles. It's overcast now and hasn't really warmed up, but it was really pleasant at sunrise.

Cold and drizzly today. needed an easy day anyway. So did 5 miles to get to 1962 for RTY. Ah, a good year 😉 So that means I need my age in miles to hit 2023 before the end of the year.

Morning everyone!
Got in 5 (at 09"43 pace). Didn't enjoy that run at all.
Choices... Assist 9year old with Fractions word problems homework he's struggling on, or, go to Aldi for groceries. I have to do one. 😭
Joy.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.10 -
No running today. Finally got the weather on a weekend day I've been waiting on. Hiked up the highest mountain in the area. about 15km in total in mostly sunshine at just below freezing, but a windchill of -10C at the top. Wonderful, frozen day.8

I have been pretty busy this week, so didn't check in every day. I just caught up and liked or hugged as appropriate. You are all doing great!
@martaindale You are training hard for that HM. I am confident that you can get a PR. What is your current PR?
@Teresa502 I hope you have fun on the AT this weekend. It looks like it is going to be good, albeit chilly, this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
@kgirlhart Congrats on reaching 2023 miles already! Amazing. We are doing great on the RTY challenge.
@SummerSkier You are running a lot. I think you should modify your goal if you are already just 9 miles away from your Nov goal. Congrats to you on reaching 2023 miles too. I guess I'm the slug on the team. LOL
@martaindale Enjoy your camping trip. I hope it helps you rejuvenate.
@Scott6255 That's pretty cool that you hit exactly your birth year miles yesterday. You should have no problem getting to 2023...probably this month as much as you are running lately.
@tarun_yadavA Take the 9 year old with you to Aldi and do a lesson there on fractions and word problems...like how much a half a pound costs if it is xxx per pound....or if I have xxx money, how many containers of ice-cream can I buy?
That sounds like a cold hike @yirara . Glad you enjoyed it.7 -

Clearly math @tarun_yadavA! 😆

1.65 miles today.
We’re having our Thanksgiving dinner this late afternoon/evening because our daughter and son-in-law are visiting from Oregon this weekend. Having her, two of my sons, a daughter-in-law and some grandchildren over for dinner. I’m being very good with my food today. A little turkey and stuffing and cranberries and a lot of salad and green beans. Don’t want to have to worry about working off extra calories. Just enjoying in moderation.
20.8/45 miles for November
Enjoy your weekend all!

Both my siblings were here this past week. Maybe I can get back to normal chaos now.
TMII had an incident where I lost my temper and emotional upheaval ensued. Siblings have returned to their respective homes, hopefully will come back in July 2024. The house is quiet this morning, been outside in the yard working on raking leaves. Trying to pull myself out of guilt and loathing I feel towards myself.10 -
Aww @AlphaHowls sorry about your family drama but don't be too hard on yourself. We all get that way with family. This too shall pass.
Got in 9 nice miles this morning. This run I hit 1971 miles for RTY. After yesterday's milestone of 1962 and seeing it was a signifcant year, I thought it would be neat to see if I can think of something notable from each year after I post a run until I hit 2023. So....
1971 - The year our family moved from California to Texas.

Thank you, that means a lot to me.
5 -
@daria0919 Sounds like you are making great food choices. Enjoy your family!
I am sorry about the family drama too @AlphaHowls . We do all tend to lose our tempers much easier with family than we would with strangers or acquaintances. I guess we expect more so are disappointed easier. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Hopefully the siblings understand and all will be good in July.
You're doing great with your running.

51.55/80 miles
I haven't posted for a few days. I was super busy, so only managed a mile walk or wun those days. Had I not been streaking, I wouldn't have done anything at all. For me, that is the benefit of my streak.
Today, I played singles tennis with a friend. We had fun, even though I wasn't playing my best. I had some good points, but wasn't concentrating like I should and not moving my feet either. I was either over running the ball or stopping way short. Scores were 4-6 and 6-6 when she had to leave.
When I got home, the wind was blowing, making it pretty chilly out - colder than I wanted to run in. So, I went down to do a run on the treadmill. I didn't have time for a long run, so decided on 30 min or so. I ran the entire distance, which I normally don't do. It wasn't too hard, but I was slow. I ran 4.2/4.3-4.5 mph for 2/2 min for the first mile and then more at 4.2, mostly to try to keep my HR down, not because my legs were tired. Even though running continuously is not necessarily my goal in life, I was proud of myself and it's a good way to burn some extra calories when I'm not doing a long run.8 -
Morning everyone! I got in 4 this morning. (09"43).
@daria0919 @quilteryoyo haha.
I was brutally hungover yesterday. Wife insisted I had to do one!
I did the groceries in the end. Took my eldest with me. Promised him a McDonalds... I needed one! Lol
Math... Lol - I have a Bachelors in it, no less.
But an awful teacher. Don't have patience. And end up yelling.6 -
Hahaha @tarun_yadavA So, you bribed your oldest into going with you for McDonalds so you could pretend you only went there for him. You are too funny. A lot of people who are good at something have no patience teaching those who aren't. Sounds like you made a great choice. Sorry for your loss that prompted the visit for the funeral.3
-
Saw this on my FB page this morning and had to share.12

Sorry to hear about the sibling issue @AlphaHowls. I’m one of four sisters, so sounds familiar. This too shall pass. I’m sure by July things will have blown over and all will be fine.4 -

@quilteryoyo Thank you.
Funeral was my old Mathematics teacher. Then tutored me privately for like 12 years well into my degree6 -
Its drizzly now but I managed to get in an hour 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢 run earlier. Up to 107 miles to date out of 100 goal. Yeah I tanked the goal but I like that. Puffs up my ego.😎
@tarun_yadavA I was a math major also. My school only gave out generic BS at the time I graduated but my focus was math. I guess why I have so many spreadsheets? I think in order to get 1500 total miles for the year I have to avg just about 3 miles and with my walking that will get me to 2023 total of deliberate miles walking and running for the year.
I am probably not going to do Run the Year next year as I get awesome support here and now on Strava so don't think seeing a facebook page of runners is worth it.
I had a DREADFUL fight with my older sister when she was here to help with my Dad and Mom back in 2010. Its funny because we actually get along - basically live and let live - she's older and not very close physically or 'mentally' to me. I can't remember having a fight like that in a long long time. It will mellow with time tho It happens to all of us.
@Scott6255 I am loving the milestones you are posting. I am up to 1397. Google says Chaucer told the Canterbury tales. And other than that it draws a blank. 😂😂😂😂😂
4 -
@SummerSkier and @tarun_yadavA I too was a math major and taught university math for a good 30 years. I still tutor a bit. Yes, the math geek in me is into spreadsheets and number data as well. Goes well with keeping my running/walking stats info.
@tarun_yadavA sorry to hear of your mathematics teacher’s passing and attending the funeral - I think somehow I missed that post.3
