I helped with the last of the health screenings at the local elementary schools this morning. We will have to do the three high schools again after Christmas, but they are fast and easy. Afterwards, I ran some errands and didn't get home until 4 pm. I was tired and hungry and moody from the rainy, windy day, so I just did a treadmill wun. I mostly walked at 3.8 mph, but ran at 4.2 mph during the commercials of the TV show I was watching.5 -
Welcome to the group @abowersgirl! Take it slow and easy and you'll do great.
Did 7 miles after work today. Nice temp @61F, but 21mph wind was tough. Felt like I was going against it 80% of the time. But ended up being a good run.
1985 miles for RTY... That is the year I got married (again one the most terrifying and yet rewarding events in my life) 😏
Heading to Austin tomorrow morning (actually 30 minutes south of there) to see my son's new house and spend time with the whole family for Thanksgiving. Hope to get a run in at least once while we are down there. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Ahhh, it's about that point in the month when I realize I am falling behind and need to kick it up a notch if I want to meet my goal.
I did another 10k tonight on treadmill. First half was a bit rough, but I slowed down for the second half, making it more manageable. Still working on my pacing for 6 miles.5 -
Morning everyone!
Got in 5M (09"28). Gone past 100 for the month - so should make target of 130.
@Scott6255 some awesome running at pace! 🙌
And for awhile now...
Enjoy Austin!9 -
@Scott6255 1985- the year I turned one .
Today was a little below freezing. I bought some warm pants because my behind always freezes in winter. They came yesterday, so I took them for a test run. They were great. My ears froze under my headband though and we’re quite painful thawing out afterwards. It was still an enjoyable wintery run, as the sun was out and that made me happy. I ran 12.5 km bringing my November total to 113.5/200km.6 -

Good Morning all! 40 more running days including today left in 2023! Did that go fast or what?
I am taking a 5 day holiday from work and the weather seems like it will be decent and allow some leisurely runs/walks. Usually for the actual dinner/lunch I go to my brother's sil's house but this year I feel a little misanthropic and may just chill with some excuse or no excuse at all. I change my mind every 5 seconds LOL.🤣😉
The past few days my RHR and HRV have been out of whack for no apparent reason that I can think of except I guess I am not getting restful sleep even tho I am getting normal sleep. 🤷♀️ So strange but it reminds me that tech devices may give you clues to health but you still have to take in how you feel.
I am at 115 miles out of 100 for the month and 1405 out of goal of 1523 for the year. (the other goal is 500 walking and I am at 475 so far.

After my strength workout, I ran 4.69 miles before work this morning. It was 52F but cloudy and windy. I started out with gloves on but shed them and stuck them in my mailbox as I passed by it. Left the ear warmers on for the entire run. Stopped and petted the neighbor’s dog – he’s such a friendly fellow. I think the family is out of town so he probably needed some attention. Funny though, he came bounding out to me on my way down the road but when I came back by he didn’t even bother getting up from where he was laying in the yard. Guess he had reached his petting quota for the day! Glad you all enjoyed my hiking recap. We have officially hiked 1/4 of the AT. It will get harder to get the miles in though since we will now have to travel further and further away.
Welcome @abowersgirl! You have come to a great place for accountability and inspiration. Sometimes when I’m having difficulty getting out the door, I come here and read how everyone else is getting out there and it propels me forward.
@quilteryoyo – It was a cold, wet and dreary day yesterday but we needed the rain. Those days make me moody too!
Safe travels @Scott2655 (I got my first big girl job with a real pay check in 1985.)
What brand pants did you get @Laurz9191

I whittled it down to 2:05:53 earlier this year. Slowly but surely getting down to 2 hrs.
Re: math talk. I don't have a math degree but was always liked and was good at math. I am the designated math homework parent. Even though it's been decades since I took these classes I can usually piece it together from my kid's notes.
@teresa502 Great pics from the AT. I love reading your hiking recaps!
Welcome @abowersgirl!
@scott6255 Neat idea to link your last RTY runs to important dates. I'm enjoying the updates!

We got back from our camping trip yesterday. It was a nice relaxing trip to Goose Island State Park, on the gulf of Mexico. We spotted lots of fish, storks, a dolphin, and jellyfish. I intended to get a run in during the trip but missed a few essential items. I remembered my shoes and socks but forgot everything else. The shirt I could have worked around but not the shorts or the sports bra. Oh well, a few days break probably did me some good.
I rearranged this coming week to get back on track. I did my makeup run from the weekend today. The weather is really nice right now. Upper 40's, lower humidity, sunny. My legs felt fresh and the little twinges in my knee and calves from last week have had time to rest.
Some pics from camping

Great run @Teresa502 and congratulations on hiking a quarter of the AT. You'll just have to plan some week trips or something. I have confidence that you will do it. And, yes, we did desperately need the rain we got yesterday.
A Thanksgiving swim is probably pretty cold @chris_in_cal .
Glad you enjoyed your run @yirara ! That's a bit chilly for me.
You're speedy @martaindale ! I'll be sending good vibes for a PR. I'm glad you enjoyed your camping trip and the break did your knees and calves good. Those pictures are gorgeous.

I had planned to get in a run this afternoon, but was invited to play tennis tonight. I still needed to cook for tomorrow, so just had time for a treadmill walk before tennis. I play okay tonight, but my "teams" still lost. I did have one that went to a tie-break, but we lost 2-7. It was a lot of fun though, and I'm glad I chose to play.
I almost forgot the bigger news. I finally made reservations for my stay in FL for the race in early Dec. I am trying a duplex I found that has a private fenced yard and patio, so Tippy will have a place to run/explore without being on leash. I hope it works out. If so, that may be my go-to. I was surprised that having the entire duplex (one side) to myself was actually cheaper than staying in a hotel would be.7 -

I ran 6 miles this morning. It was cold. It was right at 30-32°F. I wore capri length leggings and a long sleeved shirt. I thought about a jacket, but I don't like to wear a jacket with my noxgear vest, so I just pulled my sleeves on over my shirt and that worked really well. I also wore gloves and my ear warmers. I was dressed pretty well, but my hands were cold. It's not supposed to be quite as cold tomorrow and since it is a holiday I can wait until the sun comes out to run.
I've been busy getting ready for the holiday, so I haven't read all of your posts yet. But I will go back and read them. Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally had a chance to look at the ticker factory and got it going 😀

@SummerSkier my watch flagging increased RHR is usually the first sign I'm coming down with a cold or something...7 -
Happy Thanksgiving for those celebrating it! I am bowing out this year as I don’t have time for the cooking.
@tarun_yadavA Thanks, I suppose . Next year is a round b-day .
And speaking of b-days @AlphaHowls Happy B-day/Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoyed your icy run and have/had a great day!
@Teresa502 The pants are from Gore. All my other long pants are from Nike (I like Nike’s fast/epic fast pants which work when it’s above freezing, but their thicker pants bother me when I run behind/on the sides of the knee. I wore the gore ones again today. They were absolutely great- not too hot, not to cold and perfect fit.
Today I ran 10.6km. It was grey with cold windy drizzle. Tomorrow we might get our first snow!!! If so, I’ll post a picture.
124.1/200km for November.6 -
@martaindale - what a beautiful place to camp! Love the clouds!
Happy Happy Birthday @AlphaHowls! Beautiful sunrise!
Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating! We are having a great day and I am not cooking DD is doing all of it including making a lovely breakfast the morning. I did make pumpkin pies but she made a dark chocolate pecan pie - yum!

I didn't feel like running today. I had a 1 mile interval workout scheduled and wasn't feeling it. So, I just went for a run. Talked myself into 5 miles, then 7, then ended up just short of 9. Kept it easy and low pressure. I'm happy I got it done.
I think these shoes are moving into short runs only territory. By the end of mile 7 I was feeling some ache in the knees, usually a sign my cushioning is wearing out.
