My long run today was one of those runs that felt like I could go on for miles! One of the best parts of running this time of year is that I can sleep in, have a leisurely morning and still have beautiful weather for my run.7 -
@SummerSkier Good question! We eat lots of apples around here. Sometimes my preference is directly related to how fresh they look. My absolute favourite is a fresh Elster from the farmer’s market, which sells fresher fruit than the supermarket. I don’t think this is a US variety, but it basically tastes like a honey crisp that is slightly more tangy/sour. At the supermarket I will sometimes also go for the pink lady, as they usually aren’t soft.
We have an apple tree in front of the house, it’s what I would consider the “wild” variety- no clue what it really is, but I honestly don’t like them that much and usually the ones that get really good and ripe are visited by our ever-present wasp colony before we pick them .
@martaindale I’m glad you had such a nice run today! I love those!4 -
SummerSkier wrote: »Question of the day: What is everyone's FAVORITE type of apple. I used to be a Gala (well Bandit's anyway) person and when we were kids it was MacinTosh. My Mom always made baked apples with the tart Green ones. But these days if I eat any apples it is always Honeycrisp. Texture, taste. etc.. perfect! 😍
Fuji. I was bowled over by Honeycrisp when I first tried them and someone said Fuji's are the same but less expensive. I'd never tried a Fuji. It works for me, my love of a good apple and a good deal.
I can't believe how devoted I was to Red Delicious when I was a kid. I haven't had a good one in thirty years.6 -
Great running @martaindale . I'm glad you are having great weather and enjoying your runs so much.

I had planned on a long run today, but I didn't sleep well/much last night, so opted for a shorter driveway run today. The temperature was 58F (14.4C) and sunny, so not too bad. I actually did better than I expected that I would and could gone further, but I just wasn't really motivated. My Avg pace was 13:11 min/mile, so not too bad since I was going slow enough to keep my HR below 140, which I was pretty successful at. I did "sprint" downhill for the last tenth of a mile and managed a pace of 8:50 min/mile for that. I would love to be able to keep that pace for an entire mile. Maybe one day, if I push myself more.

@quilteryoyo great running. Yes, I very much enjoy pickleball! I don't get the chance to play often, but it is a fun, fast, and challenging game if you want it to be. Or it could be an easy, relaxing, just enough exercise to keep you moving kind of game. Depends on who you are playing with and how you want to approach it. I'm sure you would love it!5

Thanks @Scott6255 . I haven't played pickleball yet because I'm afraid it will mess up my tennis stroke. Some say it does and some say it doesn't. I know when I played racquetball it did. Maybe one day I'll try it.

I hope everyone who celebrated had a nice Thanksgiving. I ended up helping to time a Turkey Trot 5K instead of running with friends as I normally do. The race was located about an hour and 20 minute drive from my house so I had to get up very early and then rush away as soon as I could in order to get home and finish my dishes to take to mom’s for lunch. It all worked out fine. Yesterday, I did my strength workout (legs) and ran 4 miles before taking my parents shopping for a new mattress and a new recliner. That was an all day job! Today I ran with a group that I don’t normally run with and I had to push it to keep up with them. The weather was sunny and a nice 39F at the start.
@martaindale – Beautiful pictures from your camping trip and it sounds like the non-running was good rest for your legs.
Happy Belated Birthday @AlphaHowls! Sounds like you had a great day.
@Laurz9191 – Those are nice pants and I bet they would be great in the snow and rain also.
My favorite apple is Pink Lady. They remind me of the Honeycrisp but are cheaper!

I ran 2 miles yesterday and 1.3 miles today to keep my streak. Yesterday was perfect running weather. Today was nice, but a but cooler. Tomorrow will be my long run, and it is supposed to be 35° F. I am already fretting over what to wear.
I also like the honeycrisp apples. Macintosh and Fiji are good too.
I hope everyone in the states had a great Thanksgiving. We had a fun time. I got to see both of my kids. And today my sisters and I took our Mom to see The Nutcracker, so I guess the holiday season has officially begun.

posted twice oops. Slow and steady and consistent.

Nice running @Teresa502 ! Glad you were able to fit in helping with the race on Thanksgiving. I saw pictures from friends on FB who ran it. It looked like there was a decent turnout. Sounds like you had a very busy day. Also sounds like you had a speedy group you ran with this morning. Good job keeping up with them.
Beautiful pictures @AlphaHowls .
Great job on keeping the streak going during the holidays @kgirlhart. Great family picture.
That's a great way to ease into running @abowersgirl !6 -

Short recovery run this morning. Lovely weather again. And it's nice and quiet on Sunday morning so I could hear the leaves rustling as they blew across the road. Absolutely my favorite time of year!

Was determined to get 3 miles in today.

So today I was FAST! I can't explain it. Maybe it was the cold and wind? My tech totally agreed that I was fast. Most accurate HR continues to be from the Garmin chest strap. The wrist HRs seem to pick up cadence more for some reason.
I don't know what was going on with me the past couple 5 ish days but I felt it LEAVE yesterday afternoon and things settle down to normal. 😁😁😁😁

I ran 10 miles today. It was cold. It was 34°F feels like 27°at the start and 45° feels like 39° at the end. I really dislike running when it is that cold. I never know how to dress. Honestly, today I felt both overdressed and underdressed for the entire run depending on which direction I was running. I wore long pants and a long sleeved shirt and a jacket and gloves. I took the jacket off and on several times. The gloves were opened and closed and finally went in my pocket. It made the run very frustrating. I like to be able to just throw on shorts and a tank top and go. But I did get my run in and I hit my monthly goal, so even though it was a frustrating run, it was good.

It was lovely & mild for this evening’s run. I probably should have done a bit more didn’t have enough time.8 -
Nice long run today @tarun_yadavA . Do you enjoy social running? I know the few times that I have run with someone else, we enjoyed the company and the miles seemed to be so much easier...but we were running really slow so we could talk.
Sounds like a lovely recovery run @martaindale !
Good job on the 3 miles @daria0919 .
@SummerSkier Glad you are feeling better and it shows in that SPEEDY run!
@kgirlhart Sorry that your run was frustrating, but you did great to hang in there. Congrats on making your monthly goal already.

I wasn't feeling the best earlier today, so opted for a treadmill walk after church and before lunch. I had planned to run some since I didn't run a lot this past week, but a rest day was needed. I spent the afternoon and the couch and napped some. I do feel more normal tonight.
Upcoming race: Space Force T minus10 miler - 9 Dec7 -
Glad you're feeling a little better @quilteryoyo. Rest is mandatory. Your race will be here before you know it.
Didn't feel like going out in the cold, so got in 6 TM miles. Brings me to 1997 miles for RTY...the year my son was born 😀

Morning all
Got in 5 (09"49)
@quilteryoyo yes - absolutely love running with others. Doubly so, now I'm not training for anything or bothered about pace etc. So happy to chit-chat and chew someone's ears off while running.
Too old to rehydrate with Beers now... So stick to a water bottle and banana now! Lol7 -
I ran 5.10 miles with a couple of friends this morning. In order to meet my 100-mile goal I need to run 5.33 miles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We'll see...10
-
Thanks and great running @Scott6255 . 1997 was the year I retired from the Air Force.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA ! You aren't "that" old yet, but water and a banana are probably a better recovery choice at any age. I think the first time I felt "old" was when I was telling my doctor about something that was going on and he said, "Well, at your age....." LOL
You can do it @Teresa502 .6 -

We've had some light snow, just enough to be pretty but not affect roads. I had to add an ice-breaking stick to my cold-water tub setup, as it had a thin layer of ice this morning. I'm really liking the convenience of having it in the backyard.
Today I think this 2-week cold is finally moving on. I felt pretty good for about 3 1/2 hours this morning and was able to go run an errand with husband. Then we went for a breakfast date at McDonald's (the food there is much better in Europe than in the US), and found out they have removed hashbrowns from the menu 😡 Not sure what in the world they are thinking.8 -

Hi everyone! Today I decided to attempt a half marathon. I hadn’t done one since the actual marathon I ran in September and wanted to test out a hydration belt I just bought. The first 4 km or so the belt was so annoying! Then I seemed to have gotten the strap size adjustment right and it was absolutely perfect.
The half marathon itself was hard work, but it always is. I chose the more hilly route, which meant the second half is more or less downhill . I saw a fox, a deer, and a black cat cross my trail during the run. It’s very rare to see a fox at that time of day-or at all- so I thought that was pretty cool. I have only seen a deer a few times too.
The weather was cold and grey, but otherwise mostly dry. I ran 21.3km.
So far for November 155.5/200km.
